I was hoping that the rumours about Kate attending a reception at 10 Downing Street were false but sadly they weren't!

But it was Theresa May hosting the reception, not DC. He's not mentioned and May is the one who didn't want to give the McCanns a review. She must have read the files.
They've just quoted KM - but it's not TM's website that's being promoted by the taxi drivers - why is Maddie so often mentioned as being three years old - does that make it more newsworthy? She was four minus a few days.

Re: International Missing Children's Day
You would have thought DC would have had more sense than allow them to attend after the Leveson scandal with R Brooks. Although I do note "Home Secretary Theresa May hosted the reception in Number 10 for campaign groups, celebrity supporters and families of missing children." Where was Cameron?

Kate McCann has hailed the launch of two initiatives to help find missing children.
She was among guests at a Downing Street reception to celebrate the introduction of a new Europe-wide hotline and the relaunch of an official website with information about Britain's missing and abducted children.
Mrs McCann, whose daughter Madeleine disappeared in Portugal in 2007 aged three, said the 116000 missing children phone number was a "lifeline" for families like hers. She said it was a "really positive day" and spoke of a shift in attitudes among politicians towards the problem.
"In the last few years there's been greater awareness and certainly there's been a greater political will," she said. "We just need to keep spreading the message. It is a big problem, and we do need the Government's backing."
The 116000 missing children hotline, which is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day, is operated by specialist support groups in 16 European countries, including France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Holland and Poland.
Britain's official website to help find missing and abducted children - www.missingkids.co.uk - has also been redesigned ahead of International Missing Children's Day on Friday.
Home Secretary Theresa May hosted the reception in Number 10 for campaign groups, celebrity supporters and families of missing children.
Also attending was Nicki Durbin, whose 19-year-old son Luke went missing after a night out with friends in Ipswich, Suffolk, in May 2006. She said: "There's been a huge change in the last year, and more people are aware about all of our missing ones."
Two London cabs sporting advertisements for the newly-relaunched website were parked outside the front door of Number 10.
Another 300 black cabs will carry appeals for missing children inside for passengers to read, thanks to an idea by former taxi driver father Colin Outhwaite, father of ex-EastEnders star Tamzin. The heavily pregnant actress said: "It's an amazing idea. I couldn't believe no-one had ever thought of it before."

Nice photos, KM meeting Duchess of Gloucester. Hosted by Theresa May whom KM criticised if I remember. What no David Cameron, too busy preparing for Leveson

jmac, I'm afraid I have deleted your post, it was a mess and totally unreadable. Tried to edit, but hard to distinguish what was what.

Re: International Missing Children's Day
Yes it seemed to turn into HTML or something. I did go back to sort it and tried again. Just more mess! I`ll give up. The important thing is the comments about the article were mostly all negative about the McCanns and I was trying to get a few examples. But copy and paste didn`t seem to work.

Re: International Missing Children's Day
So there we have it (in the Mirror article) - Kate McCann is newsworthy & poor Nicki Durbin (mother of Luke Durbin http://www.findluke.com/) is - on the sidelines.

Re: International Missing Children's Day
I have read a few articles, and don't see any mention of Kerry Needham anywhere. No mention of Gerry McCann either. So how come Clarence Mitchell was there, do you need a PR man to attend such a function with you?

Maddie is often mentioned as being three years old, maybe because she never could get to the age of four?

Re: International Missing Children's Day

`Kate McCann spoke of a shift in attitudes among politicians towards the problem of missing children.`
I don`t think Kate McCann knows what she`s talking about. Whoever these missing children are they are not toddlers who have been snatched from their beds.
Many children are lost, just disappear, from the so-called care system and there is nobody even around to notice they are missing. When John Hemmings MP asked Tim Loughton, Education Minister, whether he would reform the statistics to keep a check of where the children are, he was told it would be too bureaucratic to do so.
Until the latest scandal in Rochdale, that is!

Ben Needham - Daily Mirror front page
Don't know if this link will work, as I'm posting from my phone, but today's daily mirror actually has Ben Needham on the front page. Apparently they want to dig up a building site near his home as they think he may be buried by rubble.

My goodness, has the side-lining of the McCanns started at last? That front page 's got to hurt!

Some of these will be whooshed.candyfloss wrote:I have just read some of the comments on that first link jean put up, the yahoo story, my God, some of the comments are utterly despicable and disgusting.
Why are the McCann family still getting press? They disgust me.
Manuel did it.
Good idea, there are so many missing children out there, hope this helps to reunite them with their loved ones.
my couson was out there at the same time poor maddy went, if that was her,my couson, she would have her other kids takin of her!... More
Seems weird. You can chip a pet dog for a few quid but you can't do it to your own kid.
So many children and adults are missing in this country. They are all the children and siblings of someone. Yet the good people on Yahoo focus only on the McCanns and the ghastly mistake they made on that fateful night.
What I cannot work out is whether people on here really care about... More
They made as you shockingly call it a 'mistake' on more than one night. She asked her mother 2 nights previous why her and him hadnt came when they and the twins sobbed for over an hour. And if you call a need to find out the truth a ' witch-hunt you have a screw loose. To find the truth you first... More
Glyn, I find your post really disturbing. You totally miss the point of my post. Totally. Again, you focus on the McCanns. There are thousands of missing people.
It's those 2 who keep appearing in the headlines,so it's obvious that they will receive most attention.Or do you wish them to speak freely without the right to reply back to what they say?.
One day the truth will out..and poor little Maddie will be laid to rest properly..May the Angels protect and look after her ..
Did'nt help her when she went missing did they.
she didn't go missing the parents killed her look at all the facts

Re: International Missing Children's Day
Apart from anything else, what annoys me is the very lazy use of the English language when some of these people comment. I can remember being told as a child to at least speak properly and try to write properly. Some of these comments show so little education I am surprised they are printed. Then again with the standard of some of the journalistic writing, I should not be surprised. Standards are so /ow nowadays.
Nothing in my paper today about Dr K 's visit to no 10.

Just saw an Express, no cash changed hands, and their headline made it sound as if the whole event was just for the McCanns. Ludicrous, are they still brown nosing?

Yes you do. In case you say something, so that he can immediately spin it to put it in its "proper context".candyfloss wrote:snip - So how come Clarence Mitchell was there, do you need a PR man to attend such a function with you?
Far too dangerous to let her out on her own.
By the way, who was minding the twins whilst she was there. Gerry is working, so perhaps they were in their own back garden with the patio door unlocked in case of fire....

Re: International Missing Children's Day
Maybe the priest's wife, Susan Hubbard, is babysitting the twins for them again, free of charge.
Since the mccanns proved they were so cheap skate and sting on their children by refusing to pay for baby sitting service, Susan Hubbard must be a God sent to them. Maybe Susan Hubbard feels it is an honour to help "infamous" kate, thinking her kate's newly acquired fame will rub onto her.

perhaps she is baby sitting by telepathy..... along with all the other psychics that the McCanns seem to find credible.

Old Mother Hubbard
Went to the cupboard,
To give the poor dog a bone:
When she came there,
The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.
Young mother Healy
Went to the bedroom
To check her daughter was at home
When she got there
The bedroom was bare
So she left all the others alone.
