Kate and Gerry and New Zealand?
They met at university but K went to NZ the other side of the world. G then threw up his job to follow her and was so enamoured of her he did a 500 mile round trip each weekend.
Then they came back and married and moved ot Leicester to work in NHS.
He's obviously a control freak narcissist psychopath - but what is she?
Is she his slave who daren't do anything to lose his love?
Is he one of those crazy control freaks who will not let go of a woman regardless - and we see so many men like that kill the woman if she insists on leaving.
Their attitude in the first few days varied so much that it gives the impression she was consumed with guilt rather than loss.

1. They didn't meet at university. After graduating from Dundee and Glasgow respectively, they met up when doing their junior doctor training at Glasgow Western Infirmary.
2. From what I've read, following the obligatory junior doctor 2-year training, G was going to go on a 'sabbatical' to the U.S. but decided to
follow K to N.Z.
3. On return to the U.K., I think they were both in Glasgow for a while, but K then went down to Leicester General Hospital. G at some point got a job in Leicester.
4. Was Hot Lips Healy ever short of admirers? Answers on a postcard!

I should have added that she married G after knowing him for about 6 years, I reckon, and she was a professional person, aged 30, and not a daft wee lassie that didn't know the minute!
As for the comment about guilt, as opposed to loss, your guess is as good as mine.

Very interesting!
I think I will be forced to buy, hopefully 2nd hand, the 'bewk', which up till now I've resisted. It will give me an ever so balanced view of things!

I've read things to that effect, but he wasn't a physiotherapist. Granted, he had lectured in Sports Medicine and he had done a degree in Physiology and Sports Science, initially, but I don't think that would really have given him the hands-on experience that a physio training would. I don't see that he could measure up, from a practical point of view, to well-known physios that have been with Celtic.
I don't support the footie, by the way! I can't stand it!
Could he have been the Celtic doctor, once he had moved on and qualified in medicine and remained in Glasgow for a while, especially as he had the Sports Medicine experience? I think I've picked up on that from somewhere.
There are some interesting comments on, e.g. Reddit about G and it takes us back to Richard D. Hall's theory about him being an 'asset'.
There are also interesting comments about the alleged CATS file being connected to his Celtic days. All very intriguing and something to mull over.

News of the world (Scotland)

(Quotes from the article)
Ex-Celtic physio Brian Scott worked with Maddie’s dad at the club in the mid 90’s - and told how he took time out from duties at Glasgow Western Infirmary to carry out medical on new signings.
He was a real professional, a safe pair of hands. He was great around the guys - and he was completely Celtic daft

Great, pinkgladioli. I'm just after scribbling out that info. so you've saved me the hassle of typing it. Funnily enough, it was Brian Scott that had come to mind when I posted a short time ago re well-known Celtic physios.
I had to laugh at comments on the site FollowFollow.com that the News of the World article was included in.
"Totally shocked, their PR machine really is a piece of obscene maniacal brilliance".
"If he had been the club doctor, there would have been loads of references".

Re: Kate and Gerry and New Zealand?
He had come to New Zealand to pursue the love of his life, who was working as a doctor in Wellington.
Mr McCann's former clubmates in Napier are stunned by what has happened to his family.
Hopes and prayers for the return of Madeleine McCann are coming from half a world away, as local friends of her father anxiously wait for news of the little girl.
She was snatched from her bed in a Portuguese beach resort 11 days ago while her parents dined close by.
The story has dominated news coverage in Europe as her distraught parents and celebrities such as footballer David Beckham plead for her safe return.
Mr McCann lived in Napier for about a year in 1996, turning out for Napier City Rovers.
The "down-to-Earth, natural, great guy" made several close friends, including Rovers stalwarts Ian Gearey and Jim Scott, who both attended his wedding to Kate eight years ago.
Mr Gearey said he was shocked to learn their daughter had been kidnapped.
"I am absolutely gobsmacked. I was just stunned. I heard it from Jim, who had picked up a Sunday paper and it was there."
The McCanns' romance had flourished after Gerry followed Kate Downunder, Mr Gearey said.
"Kate was working as a doctor in Wellington. He told us he'd come for her, he came to woo her, really.
"He won her heart and, of course they got together here, and not that terribly long after they got married in the UK."
The wedding in Liverpool was lovely and big, said Mr Gearey.
He hadn't spoken to the McCanns for some time but the couple kept in contact with their Hawkes Bay mates, most recently sending a family Christmas card wishing them well.
Mr Gearey said he had tried to contact them since Madeleine's disappearance, to let the family know their Kiwi friends were there for support.
Gerry McCann was a "very, very" talented heart surgeon who was highly regarded while working in Hawkes Bay.
"He is just a very nice guy. Both of them are lovely people."
Now Mr Gearey is wishing for a happy ending for his former clubmate. "They will find her. That's what we are praying for and holding on to."

I wish people would get their heads around the fact that he is a cardiologist and not a heart surgeon. I find that quite annoying!

You would think I had nothing else to do, but I idly looked up the professional footballer uncle mentioned above and here's what I found:
Pat Crerand - born to Irish immigrants in the Gorbals area of Glasgow in 1939.
Mother - Sarah Boyle (!!) from County Donegal. (I was thinking of pinkgladioli's comment about Donegal a short time ago and had to laugh).
Married Noreen Ferry in 1963 -(G's mother's maiden name). E.McC. was brought up to some extent in the Gorbals as well as Donegal.
Involved in Irish politics during the Troubles and talked to IRA Martin McGuinness in an effort to resolve the rent strikes of 1975.
Was with Celtic and Manchester United. Retired from football in 1971.
A cousin of Celt, Charlie Gallagher.
All interesting, but perhaps of no consequence.

Yes, although it’s not to say they couldn’t be potentially distantly related to your link, People immigrating from Ireland tended to move to areas in Glasgow where they already had relations back then, same surnames seem to crop up in certain areasClishmaclaver wrote:pinkgladioli wrote:I meant to say according to the Madeleine book Uncle Pat’s wife is called Alexispinkgladioli wrote:Potentially they could be you never know

Thanks for that. Yes .... that's right about people moving to where they had relations, and for work when there was a lot more industry.
There was a lot of that where I live as well.
Funnily enough, I was at a talk on Irish immigration to the area where I live. The speaker had just been successful with her topic when doing an O.U. Masters Degree.

I think I found what you were referring to. Was the person 'flighty'?
I saw something strange after looking at Gettyimages as, at the bottom of the page under 'more search results', all of a sudden up pop photos of Anti-Foul, at the start of 'The Campaign', especially when at Westminster. There's no accompanying text to give an explanation.
Both have a similar look about them!!
Yet another person to help pull strings, but maybe small fry in the scheme of things.
