The charity LBT Global has pointed out it can cost upto £20k to repatriate a body. What happened to travel insurance?Honesty wrote:And I see that his mother is appealing for more money for "a decent send off". I don't wish to sound callous but apparently their fund has received over £59,000 so far. So, surely, there must be enough money remaining in the fund to achieve this aim.

I 'm not sure drug dealers DO insurance. And they will need £30,000 of the money to repay the debt, which isn't going to go away
And of course a family with names like Jay and Zak and Warren are not going to have a small dignified Family-only private cremation
It will be the full thing with glass sided coach, 4 black horses, funeral directors in full Pantomime Victorian gear, and probably the ritual punch-up, with side order of stabbings and glassings, in the pub afterwards, after the Ham and Paté salad, to show their respect.

Jay's mum asked for people to keep donating to support the family after his remains were found this week.

Let's kick off with the claim by LBT global on their website and this is introductory informationHonesty wrote:Oh, I'm so pleased. Thank you, Liz Eagles. Hopefully, they will enlighten us. Best wishes.
Providing families with information, liaison, advice and support throughout a missing person's case overseas remains a core part of our operations. Every year we reunite many families with the loved one they feared they may never see again.
The skills, knowledge and contacts we have gained in years of providing this support, along with a mutually respected relationship with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, have enabled us to expand our remit, and we are now able to help victims of any type of serious crime.
We have been providing a revolutionary level of care to families of British murder or manslaughter victims since 2008 and we can offer advice, logistical support, repatriation assistance, problem solving, fundraising support and much more to victims of any serious crime overseas.

To add to my post. Whilst LBT global claims to actually do anything, the website has the first command of donate.Liz Eagles wrote:Let's kick off with the claim by LBT global on their website and this is introductory informationHonesty wrote:Oh, I'm so pleased. That is an astonishing thing to announce from the CEO of a charity.

we live in a world where Journalists and reporters turn into ‘Family support’ and “detectives”Liz Eagles wrote:According to Kevin O'Sullivan on Talk TV with the headline 'Jay Slater Trolls' the charity boss of LBT Global vows to catch those who lied and led search astray.

And of course experts in every specialism needed
and charities turn into vengeful investigation and prosecution authorities

Let's have a brief recap.PeterMac wrote:we live in a world where Journalists and reporters turn into ‘Family support’ and “detectives”Liz Eagles wrote:According to Kevin O'Sullivan on Talk TV with the headline 'Jay Slater Trolls' the charity boss of LBT Global vows to catch those who lied and led search astray.

No one just does their own job
A young man goes on holiday to a dodgy, drug fuelled event and disappears. Police look for him. International media descend on the scene.
Spanish police are called dodgy by retired British police who have become pundits.
It is reported in mainstream media Spanish police have refused assistance from Lancashire Police (make a note that.a specific constabulary is named).
Mark Williams -Thomas arrives and inserts himself into the case, offering his support to the family and super-charging himself and his 'team' to do what no other law enforcement agency can do. He calls for support from a charity called 'LBT global' which makes amazing claims of its achievements with no specific reference.
The young man's body is found. Mark Williams-Thomas evaporates and the CEO of a charity vows to out trolls who interfered with the search.
So yes PeterMac you are correct.

Re: The Mark Williams-Thomas thread
I went to the funeral of a very dear friend yesterday. There were over 200 people in the church and then stood outside the crematorium as it isn't a huge building. No plumes, no balloons and not a ciggy in sight, though we all brought a single white lily as no flowers other than family. Donations to our local hospice in lieu of flowers.
Rest in eternal peace.
