gives us a total area of
10 x 10 x pi = 100 x 3.1214 = 312 square miles
But half of that is in the sea, so we have 150 square miles.
Within that area is PdL, Lagos, several more villages, two golf courses, and a lot of agricultural land, and then some hills.
Since the "hellish lair" must be out of town, as it described as being with the "lawless hinterland" and therefore away from roads and settlements, and nowhere near a golf course, we may suppose that the area to be searched is perhaps 50 square miles. Probably much less.
A helicopter with heat seeking equipment could cover that very thoroughly within two days.
The search for April J's remains covered far more ground than that in 6 months.
Are we surprised that the McCanns sacked him. Hellish Lair Chloroform man
Perhaps it's the SEA area that needs 'searching?
Remember Gerry and Payne 'went out again' at 4 am.
When the police had supposedly all 'gone home' and given up the 'search' for the night.
According to John McCann and Kate McCann.
Where did they go?
A boat ride?
You can go quite a distance out to sea, in say 10/15 minutes, in a speed boat.
4am. back by 4:20/30am.
No one any the wiser.
Who's going to question a 'grieving' father and his 'friend'.........'searching'?
Maybe that's why Kate only 'feels' close to Maddie, in PDL.
Who knows? It just a theory, which Gerry McCann says he dosen't mind me having.

Did Kate carry Maddie's age-progressed picture for distributions when she went on her bewk promotion trips or even her latest trip to PDL?
Did she stick Maddie's picture all over her luggage, hand carrier, and every piece of bag she was travelling with?
?
If too bashful to personally put up posters during her recent PDL visit, couldn't some of those faithful friends in the village KMcC went to see have gone round on with publicity materials on her behalf? Did even the faithful Mrs H fail to volunteer to be once more of service? Could she not have simply stood outside the church and held up one of the posters for even a short time if no-one else were willing to display them. Nothing like the personal touch.
Or is the truth that the crack PR team simply didn't think of co-ordinating the PDL visit with the launch of the summer 2013 campaign? How very strange when one is apparently trying to raise awareness via holiday makers globally, one apparently overlooks folks living or visiting Portugal, only the place where "it" all happened, after all.
If they have a missing child that they're desperate to recover why would it be too bashful or too anything to do something constructive and concrete about it. Just talking is no good.
How can they expect others to do IT for them then when they did nothing. It's like preaching one thing and doing another.
No wonder people see through them. So transparent!
You know they have the power to summon the press to cover her trip and every move if they wished so what better way than to be photographed with Maddie's age progression pic on her possessions. What's stopping her? Why waste air time talking and no action, it just does not add up.

Re: British holidaymakers can help in the hunt for Madeleine, says Kate McCann Sunday Express 2/6/13
On a recent holiday, the usual much needed week in the sun for Brits, there were quite a few parents and grandparents with their children. This was a package holiday and guests dined in the same hotel areas.
In the dining areas were high-chairs for children and it was lovely to see families all chattering together around their tables. It was all so natural that the babies and toddlers were part of everything. In the evenings parents brought their children to dinner. There were no over-wrought, over-tired, screaming toddlers and babies that I recall as they were given attention and included in everything. Some babies were asleep in pushchairs. The hotel staff were particularly attentive and happy to serve families with children.
After dinner some of these families retired to their rooms, put their children to bed and sat on their balconies with a glass of wine. Other families sat on the terraces around the bar with their children (some asleep in pushchairs) to have a drink and enjoy the entertainment.
During the day the kiddies' pool was well used. Parents brought toys to the pool area. There were mums and dads in the main pool with their toddlers and babies who were all having a great time. One particular baby was a complete star and to hear him giggle (that belly laugh babies have) when his dad bobbed him up and down in the water was a joy to everyone around the pool. What a little munchy!
There was a little boy of around five or six who joined in with 'the blokes' in the big pool who were happy to play water pistols, lilo racing and ball with him - he was one of the team. His parents sat on sunbeds keeping an eye on their son.
Another couple with a baby had come with their parents. That child had a fabulous holiday as did the whole family. The parents shared the childcare.
That's a family holiday. It's about having fun with your kids. It's not about routines - it's a time to take a break from routine and focus on your kids. It's not 'me' time it's 'them time', 'family time'.
There are an awful lot of families out there who have precisely this type of holiday - ordinary people - responsible people - caring families.
This is what I find so difficult to understand about the McCann's view of reasonable parenting and their wish for holidaymakers to distribute posters of Madeleine - the little girl who was palmed off to a creche and put to bed in an unlocked apartment every evening.

What i find so difficult to understand is the SY review team 'reluctance' to re-interview the last people that 'saw' Madeleine and the people that were in the group that were with Madeleine in PDL, as very experienced police officers, albeit retired, have repeatedly called for.
If need be 'leave' the protected parents (Metropolitan police commisioner who launched balloons in support to raise money for the parents, who, by their own admission left their children alone, out of sight, every night of their holiday) for the time being and re-interview just their 'friends' without telling the parents.
Has a serving Chief Police officer before, or after Madeleine went 'missing' ever taken part in a fund raising event to raise funds for the parents of a missing child, in their police force area?
If, as we are told, over 2000 children go 'missing' every week, how on earth does any police force manage to function when their Chief Constable is off attending 'fund raising' events every day, for the missing' children on his manor?

The McCanns were big on routines as I recall. In her book, when the McCanns were asked to take the twins away from the creche because the media circus was disturbing the other children, Kate gripes about how unfair this all was, when all they were trying to do was to ensure the twins stuck to their routine. Not a word of apology for messing up the holidays of the other families.

Not a word of apology about leaving Madeleine and the twins alone either. I'm stunned by their selfishness and their continuous self-absorbed behaviour both prior to Madeleine's disappearance and since. It's not normal. How they describe routines as important isn't normal imo. Kate's book (written by Kate and sold for money), Kate's diary (written by Kate and sold for money), Gerry's blogs (written by Gerry and deleted) tell us nothing about a 'normal' family holiday and certainly don't tell us much about Madeleine. Where are the family photo's? Where are the toys in the apartment on the PJ's photos?
Madeleine had a colouring book that was torn and used to write a timeline. Where is the mention of the last thing Madeleine did? How precious that colouring book is?
It's all...well... so detached from anything normal.

Quite.
Child goes missing.
First thing you do is destroy its favourite possession, to scribble on. If there were no paper, why not use a cornflake packet ?
Second thing, wash its favourite toy.
Third thing, hide / destroy, dispose of its favourite comfort blanket.
Fourth thing, delete all photos (I do not believe that they had not taken hundreds of photos throughout the holiday.)
Fifth thing ? Oh, yes, remember to search tomorrow, when it gets light, in the form of a jog, but for the moment let's get some sleep. We deserve it !
As you say, it is so detached from anything normal or human. Are we expected to believe it ?

For me that's one of the problems, Peter. It is SO unbelievable what they say and do! IMO it can only mean, that they're talking about things that didn't happen ...

Although I have said this very same thing a few times of the years on various forums, this is one of the best posts on the matter I have read! I agree completely and I have been on Holidays with my young sons to Turkey, Spain main land, Majorca, Menorca,Greece, Italy and every time these holidays are described as you have here. I go on Holiday to spend more time with my kids as I get so precious time with them during the week and have never been able to understand the mentality of the Mccanns or any parents who entertain the idea of leaving the kids in care while on holiday , let alone leave them alone in unlocked tile floored holiday apartments! I always wondered, did they leave their passports and wallets out on the table in the apartment on an evening.....

Re: British holidaymakers can help in the hunt for Madeleine, says Kate McCann Sunday Express 2/6/13
The resort offered a crãche service but the McCanns chose to leave the children sleeping at the apartment, taking turns to check on them. Between their checks at 9.30pm and 10pm, the apartment was broken into through a window and Madeleine was taken, according to her aunt. Trish Cameron, Mr McCann’s sister, from Dum-barton, near Glasgow, said it appeared that someone had been spying on Madeleine and had targeted her for abduction.
“The front door was open, the window had been tampered with, the shutters had been jemmied open and Madeleine was missing,” she said. “Nothing had been touched in the apartment, no valuables taken, no passports. They think someone must have come in the window and gone out the door with her.”
The 9:30 'check' mentioned was before Tanner and McCann changed it to 9:10pm.
Otherwise Tanner wouldn't have 'seen' anyone!
Ergo, no 'alibi' for Gerry!
When they suddenly 'lost' the 20/25 minutes that's when everyone thought it was dodgy!
That was the second day!

Yep, true sociopaths.
Remember the other creche event: there was nobody to pick up the twins?
Now, God forbid, they have to pick up their own children from the creche.
Absolutely awful!! :puke:

If they have a missing child that they're desperate to recover why would it be too bashful or too anything to do something constructive and concrete about it. Just talking is no good.
How can they expect others to do IT for them then when they did nothing. It's like preaching one thing and doing another.
No wonder people see through them. So transparent!
You know they have the power to summon the press to cover her trip and every move if they wished so what better way than to be photographed with Maddie's age progression pic on her possessions. What's stopping her? Why waste air time talking and no action, it just does not add up.
Aiyoyo you have it exactly right. In the past 6 years the Team have built formidable campaigning and media expertise and contacts. This was the golden PR opportunity that never was, an absolutely perfect platform for lauching the summer 2013 campaign to raise awareness among holidaymakers. Yes, they could easily have summoned the press to a launch in PDL - massive potential for photo ops and headlining copy. Instead the campaign launch was nothing but a few turgid press aricles devoid of emotion or interest. So yes, just talking is what they seem to want to do, always "working hard behind the scenes" but seemingly paralysed when it comes to doing anything concrete, like personally raising awareness on your own child's behalf by putting up posters in the resort she disappeared from, as you point out

Assuming the story is true, it further reinforces the fact there's no sense of urgency by the McCanns to find Maddie. I thought the whole idea of their shop was to charge holidaymakers for items to use while on holiday to aid the "search" for Maddie. In the two weeks madam has allegedly been away, people would have been on holiday and back without receiving their items. Another missed opportunity in the hunt for Maddie..........

Kate
asked me to let those who have ordered from the online store to know
your orders will be going in the post in the next couple of days. She's a
couple of weeks behind due to being away. If you have any questions,
just Email me at Webmaster@findmadeleine.com. Ta! ~FM Webmaster

Does Kate have to personally order these products/sanction their delivery? Is there only Kate running the shop?
It's a bit odd if goods can't be shipped because Kate's away...just my opinion of course.

Not to mention the lost revenue.ShuBob wrote:Another missed opportunity in the hunt for Maddie..........
By the way, are they selling these to anyone, or only people who are going to be within the 10 mile radius semi-circle centred on Praia da Luz, where Madeleine is being held.
Surely to sell these materials to people who are not going to that area is prima facie Fraudulent.
" . . . Obtaining money by deception, namely by selling goods designed to assist the search, and by falsely purporting that Madeleine might be found anywhere, when you knew (knew) that in fact she was in a Hellish Lair in the Lawless Hinterland, within ten miles of Praia da Luz, and further that your Private Detective had evidence of this". (He did, didn't he ?)

Yes, this is the question... what has she been doing? Something's really wrong... or not...Châtelaine wrote:And ... where's Kate been the past few weeks?

What lost revenue?
I think people have paid but not got their merchandise.
