Oh Sami, wouldn't that be absolutely horrendous, if this were true, that it is the fact of the Needham dig and they want some of the limelight?, makes me feel sick. Personally I think we're all being had by this birch character. I'll believe it all when I see it!

On a very serious note, if this was a potential crime scene, Birch should not even consider going to dig the ground. His posts read as if it is all about him being proved right with his radar. It is much much more than that, if you believe him, it is the grave of a little girl, who did not get there in any honest law abiding circumstances. Therefore if she is to be found there, it needs to be done in the correct forensic manner.

He, the McCanns, their "PR Spokesperson", and Murat, cannot just decide to go digging, like they are on the beach in PDL.

This doesn't add up why would The McCanns "PR representative" and then "Kate" even need Mr Birch to do a dig? The land isn't his they could ask anyone to do it (the PJ?) but apparently they are communicating with Stephen Birch?
Mr Birch has no legal authority or as far as I know, any expertise in this area, as to forensic excavations, so why even contact him?

If this latest claim is true, I think you could be perilously close to the truth. They got their name in when poor April Jones went missing. It seems no family is able to endure a tragedy without them elbowing their way into the equation.

Maybe there was an extra bonus for e-mail addresses and fb accounts. Not to mention a taunt for TB.

Interesting that it was poised for yesterday/today.

Nobody will steal the McCann thunder.

I find SB and this thread tawdry. I am guilty of joining in with the trend of things.

Last Christmas Eve I wrote a prayer for Madeleine. It took a few minutes to write because it's easy to write the truth. I'm posting it again as it is a reminder of all that is decent about this forum and the genuine people. I hope I am not offending anyone. If I am, just ignore me. It's not Christmas but the prayer still stands and the word Christmas doesn't matter. It's about Madeleine.

To the people who know what happened to Madeleine I pray you come forward and tell the truth. To the people who are abusing the story of Madeleine's disappearance to make money in the media, I pray you search your own conscience. To those who are sitting with their own families this Christmas and have not given the whole truth about Madeleine, I pray you find the courage to do that. To the people that continue to fight for justice for Madeleine, I pray this coming year is the one that brings the right things.

To Madeleine,

I pray you are alive. I pray you are not abused. I pray you are safe. If that is not the case I pray you know how many people are giving their time and care to bring those that may have failed you to justice.

Finn, I am not normally so cynical. However since the day the police arrived in Kos I have waited for a sighting, a website inadvertantly publishing a photograph, or something similar from team McCann.

Now I await a denial from the Spokesperson about Birch's latest claim. He is after all mentioned, if there is no truth to it he should deny it and quickly.

In the absence of any such denial, then are we to assume we are allowed use the "d" word when we speak of what might have happened to Madeleine ? Will it no longer be considered unhelpful and hurtful ? Or is that word still out of bounds, even though they might not confirm or deny they have asked somebody to dig up a garden in PDL.

Wait and see what comes of this. Either way, there is a subliminal message - digging in Kos, perhaps a dig in PDL. One terribly distraught mother in Kos, one other mother.

Facebook was an interesting forum on which to break the news.
