I agree that does seem to be one Heck of a treck away from 5A. Carrying a child, whilst in a state of panic to find somewhere safe to place her, running the risk of being seen at that time of night, whilst the scripted timeline was being played out, just doesn't make sense to me. The video makes it look like GM had walked almost full circle. I am probably sounding a bit muddled up here. Smithman is a puzzle, but I don't think it was GM that the Smiths saw that night and was just a random local fella and coincedental that night.

MS doesn't trust the media, he threatened some in early summer 2007 and they kept quiet. He is said to have been then a retired entrepreneur. There's a pic of him on the web, with a dog !

The UK media, in spite of being public in Ireland (in June and then again in August) that the S family had crossed a childcarrier the night M vanished, kept silent. Hadn't they a good opportunity to sell more copies ?

The UK tabloïds, bitten by a fly or instigated by Metodo 3, published articles about the S family in the beginning of January 2008, copying what had been published by the Donegan Independent on June 6 2007, the day when, in Berlin, the journalist Sabine Müller dared to ask the MCs : "how do you deal with the fact that more and more people think that you don't behave like the parents of a kidnapped child and deduce, it seems, that you might have something to do with it all". That incident was vaguely mentioned only to claim scandal, foul, outrage etc.

The tabloïds had obviously never heard of MS's déjà vu. Their target was different, it was to merge Smithman and Tannerman (who remained the official abductor).

Have you seen the height of the wall around the cemetery ? BS tells he went there with FF and that they (respectfully = not like necrophiles) made the upper tombal stone slide.

Also on Rua Jose Carlos Ary des Santos there is a large area of scrubland, not overlooked and with a lower wall with piles of rocks aiding a climber, The very end of said wall is where the large slab with roof cover is too.

It doesn't go to the beach but does go to R25 de Abril where the snail like area is that was well searched.

Yes, I know that the Cemetery Road doesn't lead to the beach. But maybe he gave a hint that they brought her body to the church/cemetery.

From Bernt in response to Justice for Maddie and Anne Guedes:

The road does NOT lead to the beach. It's an East-West road, parallel to the beach and 500 meters from the beach.

Even though two tall men, it doesn't say anything how much power we had to use to move the large grey stone slab..... Anne assumes things that is not there. One person, Gerry, could easily slide it open, alone...
Spoken from the one who slid it open...

Again Anne assumes things without local knowledge.

I didn't think the cemetery wall seemed particular high. It could have easily been climbed by people of any height from what I can tell. The cemetery could therefore be an easily accessible deposition site initially. The entrance gate doesn't necessarily have to have been locked either.

Would you select the highest point in the town, entirely surrounded by villas and blocks of apartments which enjoy the view over the area, a piece of land of natural beauty designed and preserved for people to walk and enjoy the sight of the setting sun, the moon and stars, to sit and do whatever young couples do on these occasions, the silence broken only by the sound of a pick and shovel ?

I never mentioned a pick and shovel and yes I would chose the viewpoint rather than the Rocha Negra.
It's nearer to 5a and has much more vegetation.
All the jogging and photo's taken of the McCann's on Rocha Negra looked to be a don't look there look here scenario.
Anyway it's a no go because Bernt has proof Madeleine is on Rocha Negra.

Matt did NOT confuse Cemetery road with any other road because if you read the police files Matt is actually and physically pointing his finger on a map when he showed the officer where he went "searching" out west.
That's when he said that the name of the road seemed like a horrible...... But left the next word out. The word was "coincidence".

Yes, at first he said it was the Cemetery Road and pointed the finger on this area and than he said it could be another road in this area?

But yes, I think he wanted to give a hint that Maddie is dead.

Why indeed? He would be incriminating himself by withholding information. I don't believe any of them dropped hints, intentionally or otherwise, although they did drop themselves in it occasionally.

Which wall ? The tiny or the medium one ?
I find these proxy assumptions rather inappropriate ("assuming things that are'nt there", "assuming without local knowledge").  I only suggested the cemetery had walls with a certain height, as cemeteries in PT are closed at night, not supposed to easily "visited". Then what kind of stone, what size,  hence what weight ?  G should have had that in mind before entering the cemetery, imo.

A wise man once said: "Be careful who you let on your ship,
because some people will sink the whole ship just because they can't be The Captain."

or
If Gerry was Smithman, maybe at first he brought Maddie's body to the church and then later the McCann/the priest brought the body to the cemetery and the McCanns got the key to the church and cemetery. Later, they hid the body in the hill area

Matt's comments about Cemetery road was just an unintentional slip of the tongue as he was about to say "it was a horrible (coincidence)"

Even though two tall men, it doesn't say anything how much power we had to use to move the large grey stone slab..... Anne assumes things that is not there. One person, Gerry, could easily slide it open, alone...
Spoken from the one who slid it open...

Again Anne assumes things without local knowledge.
Here's a photo of the wall....

Anne it was more than likely the medium wall which anyone could scale quite easily as it only looks a couple of feet high at most. The small are is it a grasses verge and probably less than a foot high.
Cemeteries aren't necessarily closed at night.
The concrete slabs are usually above ground and on a concrete base. When people have a burial plot, concrete slabs are sometimes placed over coffins to aid settling of the coffin in the ground so there is space for the next. Then the larger slab is placed on top of the raised concrete base. So there's space to hide a body by simply sliding the concrete slab a little, place a body and replace the slab back in position.
Have you read Bernts book? All is explained in there.
