McCann Reservoir Murder: Fact or Fiction?
Following a recent anonymous tip, left outside the flat in which Madeleine McCann disappeared in 2007, police have begun investigating. The note claimed that the young girl’s body had been dumped in a reservoir 15 miles from Praia De Luz – the place from where she had originally vanished without a trace.
The note stated that the haunting lake had been her ‘final resting place’. It then continued to say that it was the ‘perfect’ place to hide a body. The police soon discovered that the land next to the reservoir had been inhabited at the time. This drove them to begin looking into the owner. It is stated that at the time of the investigation back in 2007, the reservoir was searched. However, the divers never descended into the murky waters in search of the girl. Why? We don’t know.
The new, unnamed witness allegedly lived beside the reservoir in a camper van only 9 miles away from Praia De Luz. He is believed to be an ex-friend of the current suspect ‘Christian Brueckner’. Brueckner is currently fulfilling a sentence for the rape of a 72-year-old woman.
More witnesses are revealed:
There is yet to be any clear information on whether the police have tracked down the new witness. However, it has been discovered that a credible witness stated that she told the police about ‘Christian B’ in 2007. On the day of the toddler’s disappearance, the British woman was shown pictures of multiple pedophiles. When the police presented a picture of Brueckner, the woman stated she saw him outside the holiday home that night. She stated, ‘that’s the man I saw.’ However, despite the certain statement nothing was ever followed up.
It is unclear as to why the police quizzed the woman on Brueckner so soon after the disappearance. However, they never seemed to look any further into it. Another witness, Madeleine’s nanny, was also quizzed on Christian Brueckner only five days after the disappearance.
She told ‘The Mirror’ on the 5th June 2020: “I was shown identikits the day after they took my statement.’ She based this around her time with Madeline.
“I recognized a few people from just being about,” she stated. “One guy I recognized was a known pedophile who later committed suicide.’
“I am aware of his name and face from photos I was shown.’ She continued. “I don’t think I remember having seen him in real life.’
Evidence on the suspect:
There is a lot of damning evidence against Brueckner. However, Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters states there is no ‘smoking gun’ evidence to enable the charges against the German offender. He followed up by stating that there are still many pieces of evidence that point to Brueckner being guilty. ‘One of the pieces is the signal from the mobile phone he was using at the time Madeleine McCann disappeared. He has been shown to have been in the area of the Ocean Club resort where she was staying.’
Police believe that multiple witnesses are sitting on vital information about the suspect, in regard to being ‘terrified’ of him. Manfred Seyferth, 64, a former acquaintance of Brueckner talked about their experiences together. He stated: “We called him ‘The Climber’ because of his skills. “He was an expert at getting into apartments and hotel rooms. “Christian was athletic, and he was strong. I saw him many times climb up to first and second-floor apartments and break in. “He would take watches, passports, money and anything electronic that he could sell. He was a great burglar.” Seyferth has since stated that he believes Brueckner was very capable of being the vile person that abducted the then 3-year-old. He has claimed he had ‘a cold hard face and evil eyes.’ Seyferth was there for one of Brueckner’s court trials and has described his cold-hearted expression many times. It is known that during the time of Madeleines disappearance Brueckner was robbing holiday makes in Praia De Luz. This places him in the same area as the young girl the same time of her disappearance.
There is no concrete evidence that McCann is dead.
Even so, the German police have confirmed they are treating it as a murder-case. Hans Christian Wolters has stated that they don’t believe she is alive. ‘The result of our investigation does not point in any way to the possibility the suspect might have kept Madeleine alive.’
It was originally thought that there was a possibility Brueckner could’ve had assistance and that it wasn’t a one-man mission. However, the police seemed to have scrapped that idea, dismissing the possibility of Bruckner’s ‘ex’ Nicole Fehlinger accompanying him. They have stated that Fehlinger was a witness, however she is not a suspect.
Claims were made by officer Goncalo Amaral, an officer who got kicked off the investigation. He criticized British police however, the claims were instantly dejected by Wolters. The officer is currently in an ongoing legal battle with Madeleines parents, Kate and Gerry McCann. He believes that Madeleine had died with her parents in the holiday home by accident. He has claimed that the parents had wanted to cover up their mistake. This theory is a possible conclusion for many people around the world, however Wolters seemed confident. He stated: ‘I know this former inspector speaks a lot and comments on our work.
‘We’re not going to get into a war of words.” He said. “All I will say is that we have carried out a very serious investigation. There are no indications whatsoever Madeleine McCann’s parents are linked to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing to Christian B killing her.’ If she is alive, where is she? If she isn’t, what happened?

MADDIE CLUE Madeleine McCann cops hunt new witness who ‘lived next to reservoir where mystery note claimed her body was dumped’

MADELEINE McCann cops are reportedly hunting a new witness who allegedly lived next to a reservoir where a mystery note was left claiming her body had been dumped.
The man is believed to be an ex-pal of rapist Christian B, who is suspected of abducting and murdering the three-year-old in 2007.
Officers are understood to be treating him as a witness and not a suspect, reports the Daily Mirror.
It is thought he was holed up in a camper van near the remote 'Reservoir of Wilderness' which lies nine miles from Praia da Luz.
A note - found outside the flat where Madeleine disappeared - suggested that the three-year-old’s body may have been dumped in the reservoir.
The note, sent to a Dutch newspaper, is said to identify a reservoir as Madeleine’s "final resting place” and allegedly described the murky waters as a “perfect” place to hide a body.
The remote Barragem da Bravura lake is just 15 miles from Praia da Luz, where Maddie was last seen.
CHILLING 'NOTE'
A handyman who found the note, who did not wish to be named, said in 2014: “It clearly said Madeleine’s name at the top. It was written in Portuguese.
“Beneath it was a location for what it claimed was her final resting place.”
The handyman also claimed that, after handing cops the note, nothing was subsequently done.
Police searched the surrounding woodland of Barragem de Bravura two days after Madeleine vanished in 2007, but it is thought that divers did not search the water itself.
It comes as at least one old associate of Christian B, 43, has been quizzed about Madeleine’s disappearance by German police in Portugal.
A source told the Mirror: "They didn’t seem to know his name.
"They said he may have stayed up at Barragem da Bravura.
"My friends and I don’t recall Christian hanging out there but he was pretty private."
Brit Kit Thackeray has lived next to the reservoir for more than 30 years.
He told the Mirror: "There were Germans living in campers all around here in the early 2000s. He could be anywhere now."

Ms Behan said her rapist had a tatoo on his thigh, CB doesn't have a tatoo that we know of.
CB said he would undergo an inspection, somebody on the forum, Peter Mac? said it would have been seen during his medical examination if there was a tatoo, when he was sent to jail and would be in his personal file.

Amongst the things they were allegedly searching for at Arade was the gun which Manfred S and Helge B stole and threw into the reservoir.
ERRR . . . WRONG Reservoir.
Gonçalo Amaral covered this a long time ago., but of course in the best traditions of Investigative journalism no one bothered to ask him, nor apparently to read his book.

of course it are only wild guesses by media.
one tells about cb and the druids of the garden stones, the other one fixates on some pink pyjama's, the others want a gun and camcorder and it must be a set from 2007, not the set of 2006.
they not only have a bit of a problem with the odd reservoir of 3, please do not tell them there are even more reservoir in portugal. they can not keep even the mileage strait in the same fruit of the keyboards, reinvent history to call the tapas restaurant open air, not exactly what their very own picture from 2007 tell.
notes are also a heavy topic, maybe not the notes itself, but it gets difficult if there have been more than one.
all look into wanting to be the one who fixes the best remake of it all. and you get the idea, they hired a movie crew as editor that calls 'cut' after some lines. 'tomorrow the same time again for the next production'.
it is not really that strange that young people who came later to get there share of the pie, get into thinking this is all just a fantasy, that there never was a girl called madeleine, that is is just a massive entertainment to fool the public.
the germans do what they always want to be, being the best of all. what is the name of the cps? hans christian....okay wolters, who is the lead officer of the police? mister grimm. but they had the suspect on video, ehhh, well that is only known by some other criminals, who are also the star witnesses in a handfull of other cases. the court never had a look at a video.
but it was a portuguese case not? yeah a sort of at the beginning, but then the uk walked in and a bit later they made it into their case. and how they got the germans in? well they found a new patsy and the portuguese did not like that one, they had suspects of their own, ones the british did not agree on, and the germans did not mind a bit, it was a nasty guy also. and they liked the sun also, places already used to germans, so no fear to have to munch sardines, there must be currywurst sellers by now.
so they have just had a bit of searching on a beach, no, not the beach this time, just the banks of a reservoir. with the portuguese and the brits too? yeah the portuguese had do the search, the germans did the suggestions and the uk needed 3 officers to observe, and get a story together for the homefront. 3? yes, you know these portuguese are pretty tough guys with an opinion, and they have a court and that european court that is in their pockets, so 3. and of course it was 3 days, so it is only fair to get 3 out, so each gets a turn to stay sober. they had to drive a bit too. they have an excellent spot near the airfield to grab a bit of pizza.
and did they found what they have been looking for? well you have to ask a bookie for that, you can bet on pyjama, pyjama fibers, child playing objects, camcorders, videocamera, guns, big ones, bodies, ans soil. but they did find something? yeah it is said they found garments, clothing, soil, plastics, a bra, the remains of a bra, or a clasp of a bra.
but they have at least a suspect? they think they have indeed. okay it depends on the meaning of the cps when he says concrete, the internet is still busy to find out what concrete means in german versus english. and it has different meanings? ehhh, no, but its origine is said to be french, and we all know that could be a problem for brits and germans. well concrete together with evidence did not really work out, maybe a lot of people have got back to their senses after using the other more existent meaning of concrete, that of the concrete wall.
but they have a suspect arrested in germany? no, not really, okay they have told he did it, that he is the murderer, but if they wanted they could arrest him, but they want to have more evidence, the better quality of it. so, they have been digging to look for a better quality of concrete by that lake? reservoir, no they are suspected of wanting to now if the soil there and what they found on the van is the same. but is that the crime scene than? only if they got the right reservoir and he was a druid of course.
but they must have been asking that guy questions? ehhh, no , not really, not for the german part of the investigation, they are just not there to make him an official suspect. it have been the portuguese who nicked the premiere of that happening. and they are used their named suspects say only no comment.
aha, so they looked for a big gun, in the wrong reservoir, for something that was twice put not there, after it was two years in a row nicked, by the same criminals, when the german suspect was once in jail and the second time he did not live their anymore. and the portuguese are now glad, because they have a nice clean beach at the lake, so they can get more tourists from germany to stay there?
ehh, probably not.
but it was in the paper, at least some of it must be true? most not even printed it, but only gave it away for free, okay with adds of course, so, as we know, you cannot expect that much for free. but it is a free country and you are free to what you want to believe of course. and if you do not like the story, there are quite a lot of others to choose from.

Today, only hours ago, the Independent continues it's regular update (read repetition) on the Complete Mystery of Madeleine McCann and surrounding irrelevance.
The latest is indeed a weekend repetition of a previously published timeline presented in the name of Joe Sommerlad. I quote..

The police initially stated that they believed Madeleine was still alive and had been abducted from the room by a stranger as the parents described their “anguish and despair” over her vanishing, a worst fear realised for any parent.

Publicly, the police insisted the McCanns were merely witnesses. But as early as May 4 one Portuguese newspaper reported that, behind the scenes, police had doubts the toddler was snatched at all. The McCanns’ story was “badly-told”, it said.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
As with so many of the reports relating to Madeleine McCann's disappearance over the years, they are originally based on nothingness and latterly regurgitated ad nauseam with bits added and bits taken away - according to the source. Two can play at that game.
The dam/reservoir being but one such story..
Exclusive: Madeleine McCann cops ignored tip-off that her body was dumped in lake
An employee of the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz found note in the doorway of apartment 5A, where Madeleine vanished, on the first anniversary of her disappearance
ByDavid Collins
22:30, 24 Nov 2014Updated07:59, 25 Nov 2014
A letter handed in to Portuguese police claimed to know the final resting place of Madeleine McCann, it has emerged.
An employee of the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz found the letter in the doorway of apartment 5A, where Madeleine vanished, on the first anniversary of her disappearance.
The handyman, who we are not naming but was formerly employed by the holiday resort, immediately handed in the note to the police in May 2008.
He described the letter as being headed: “Madeleine Beth McCann”, with a description below of how she had been dumped in the Barragem da Bravura reservoir, nine miles from the holiday resort.
He said: “It was raining that night so it was soaking wet when I found it. It clearly said Madeleine’s name at the top. It was written in Portuguese.
“Beneath it was a location for what it claimed was her final resting place.
“I spoke to the other staff about it and they said to hand it in to the Portuguese police. I gave it to them, but I have no idea what they did about it.
“It would be the perfect place to hide a body.”
It is believed that although the surrounding woodland was initially looked at by detectives on the case, there has never been an underwater search of the reservoir.
Tonight a spokesperson for Kate and Gerry McCann said they would “welcome” any new searches of the area.
Clarence Mitchell said: “Kate and Gerry will be informed of what this witness is telling the Daily Mirror.
"We would welcome any new searches. But they cannot comment on any specific detail as that is entirely a matter for Operation Grange and the Portuguese authorities.”
The man-made lake is close to the A22 motorway which runs from Praia da Luz towards the Spanish border.
In October 2007, five months after Madeleine disappeared, officers from the Civil Guard helped search the large area of woodland, which has a lake in the middle supplying water to surrounding towns and villages.
The search was re-ordered by lead investigator Paulo Rebelo, who took over the stalled investigation, after concerns the area had not been searched properly when Madeleine went missing.
Detectives believed it was a possibility the youngster’s body may have been weighed down with rocks and disposed of in the huge expanse of water.
However reports at the time say police, along with specially trained sniffer dogs, spent just two hours at the site and are not thought to have deployed underwater search teams.
One eyewitness, who was there at the time of the search, said: “I never saw any divers physically trawl through that lake. The water is dark and murky and would need to be searched thoroughly.
”It’s so close to Praia da Luz, and such an obvious place to hide a body, that I’m amazed following an actual tip off this hasn’t been done.”
Map of the area where the lake is
The Portuguese investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance has been widely criticised and is known to have made several serious mistakes, including the failure to close off the apartment which led to the contamination of the crime scene after up to 20 people were allowed inside.
It has previously been reported how a Dutch newspaper was sent an anonymous letter and a map of the area near the same reservoir bearing a cross and the words: “Where Madeleine is buried.”
The desolate Barragem da Bravura lake, or the “Reservoir of the Wilderness”, occupies an area two-and-a-half miles wide and a perimeter of 25 miles.
Only a handful of isolated dwellings dot the beauty spot.
Many of the Ocean Club staff believe the four-year-old could have been taken there after she vanished from the McCanns’ holiday apartment.
In February 2008, a team of divers hired by Portuguese lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia searched the Barragem do Arada reservoir, which is 35 miles east of Praia da Luz.
The human rights lawyer claimed that underworld criminals told him Madeleine was dumped in a nearby lake that was “deserted with lots of trees and a beach area” - however the search came to nothing.
Kate, 46, and Gerry, 45, of Rothley, Leics, were at a tapas bar about 80 yards from their apartment when Madeleine vanished.
Gerry checked on her and her brother and sister at 9.15pm. At 10pm Kate found she had gone.
Police believe seven new possible suspects, five men and two women, may have information.
It has been reported they also plan to re-interview expat Robert Murat, 41, who was cleared by the 2007 inquiry.
A friend of the McCann’s from Rothley, Leics, said they were desperate to find out what had happened to Madeleine and were confident Scotland Yard would “do everything in their power” to unravel the mystery.
The friend said: “They hope police search any potentially significant new place but until there is evidence to suggest otherwise Kate and Gerry remain hopeful that Madeleine could still be alive.
”If an anonymous letter has come to light which suggests their daughter’s body could be in a lake in a barren area not far from Praia da Luz then they know police will be thinking ‘Was this area searched before and do we need to look at it again?’
”They would hope it has been acted on before but if there is new information it will surely be in police hands.”
Former GP Kate and heart doctor Gerry, both 46, rarely comment on the huge multi-million police inquiry ordered by Prime Minister David Cameron.
But in a joint statement released this summer when cops were digging up part of the resort from were three-year-old Maddie was snatched in May 2007, they said: “We are very pleased that significant activity has taken place in Praia da Luz over the last eight days with police officers and support teams from the UK working closely with the Portuguese Policia Judiciaria and the Guarda Nacional Republicana.
”We are further encouraged that, despite intensive searches, no trace of Madeleine has been found and this reinforces our belief that she could still be alive.”
Kate and Gerry’s Portuguese lawyer Isabel Duarte told the Mirror: “They want to know exactly what has happened to their child.”
A Scotland Yard spokesperson refused to comment.

Exclusive: Madeleine McCann cops ignored tip-off that her body was dumped in lake
An employee of the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz found note in the doorway of apartment 5A, where Madeleine vanished, on the first anniversary of her disappearance

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
the original article about the tip-off letter send to de telegraaf, a dutch newspaper was actually the second letter send to them, but the first one was about a belgium case with missing children and it looked a bit the same. . this one existed of a rough mapping with two crosses where madeleine should be burried under some branches and stones, about 6 or 7 meters of the roadside, i can find at least 2 sources who nicked the news from de telegraaf. the date it got out overhere was 13 june 2007.
the next day the mccanns told on their website they have been mad because de telegraaf did not waith until the pj had taken a look on it.
a bit of translation by deepl from another dutch paper that nicked it from the telegaaf and put it in the paper of `14 june 2007;
The Telegraaf immediately handed the letter to the police in Amsterdam last Monday. That handed everything over to the authorities in Portugal, the chief editor said in a comment. On Tuesday, the newspaper informed a spokesperson for the family that the letter was published a day later. ''It is therefore completely unclear to me where exactly the shoe is wringing,'' the editorial said.
must have been kate her new pink trainers of course, it is actually typical dutch wording for what is actually wrong.
usually letters to the publishers of course are used by the papers, and as usual the publisher will hand the to the police, who of course as usual will bla bla of course, bla, bla we take it serious.
but come on, 2 crosses means usually just another dreamer, for the non believers mccann, they look to be still very in to that.
as far as was made public it was not about a reservoir, but it could be somewhere in the algarve where the portuguese at a time decided to make a reservoir. something has to fill up all those swimming pools and hot showers for tourist accommodations.
i think this tip-off was the start of some searching done by some journalists, that found a piece of very dirty cloth, i do remember there are pictures of people holding some cloth, like a old blanket from the ground. there was a massive discussion at that time if it was a towel with the same print or pattern that was in the pictures of 5a.
none looked having to do something with water, or a reservoir at all, just typical dry portuguese summer soil.
so this note or letter had nothing to do with any dam, reservoir, or other man made watery structures in the algarve. i will give it a try later on if that paper version already is landed in the paper archives online.
i do hate it when they start reusing things without meaning that many moons ago already ended in the box of crap.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
Letter claims Madeleine buried near resort
Wed 13 Jun 2007 17.00 BST
Portuguese police are investigating a possible breakthrough in the Madeleine McCann inquiry after an anonymous letter was sent to a Dutch newspaper allegedly identifying where the girl's body had been buried.
Dutch police said yesterday they were taking the contents of the letter "very seriously". It is understood the author states that the four-year-old lies buried under rocks in deserted scrubland in an area called Odiaxere, some nine miles from the Mark Warner resort in Praia da Luz, where Madeleine went missing.
De Telegraaf, the Dutch newspaper that received the letter, reported that it had been sent a map on two A4-sized pages containing a cross and a question mark indicating the "probable finding place" of Madeleine.
The results of forensic tests carried out on the letter and envelope were immediately despatched to the Portuguese detectives investigating the disappearance of the four-year-old British girl.
Officers in Portugal are investigating the letter's claims and are poised to visit Odiaxere. Dutch police said part of the reason the letter was being taken so seriously was because it was similar to one sent to the same newspaper last June following the disappearance from the city of Liege, in Belgium, of two girls: Stacy Lemmens, seven, and Natalie Mahy, 10.
In that case the author claimed to know where the girls had been buried. The children's bodies were found two weeks later in a storm drain near a railway crossing a short distance from the location identified in the letter.
Abdallah Ait Oud, a convicted child rapist, was eventually arrested for the murders. The DNA of a third person was found on the bodies. There was evidence that Natalie had been raped.
Sita Koenders, from the Dutch police headquarters in Amsterdam, said today De Telegraaf had received the letter on Monday and passed it straight to the police.
"We carried out forensic investigations straight away and, as soon as the report from the forensic tests came in, we sent it to the Portuguese police. We are awaiting instructions from the Portuguese and will start an inquiry into finding the author if that is required," Mr Koenders said.
"We are taking this very, very seriously. We have to."
Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa from the Portuguese police said "everything necessary" was being done to validate the claim made in the letter.
"There have been exchanges between Dutch police and us," he said. "The information indicated an area 15km from the place of the disappearance of the little child.
"It is not far from Praia da Luz. We are checking the information, as we check everything in this case, for importance."
Mr and Mrs McCann visited the Netherlands last week as part of a European search for their daughter, who was snatched from their apartment 41 days ago.
The McCanns lived in Amsterdam for a year in 2004 when Madeleine was a baby and Mrs McCann was pregnant with twins Sean and Amelie.
They have spoken fondly about their time there and the friends they made.
Mr McCann, a cardiologist, was working on specialist MRI imaging of the heart. Their return to the city on June 7 to raise awareness about their daughter's abduction was the first time they had been back since leaving in December 2004.
The couple, from Rothley in Leicestershire, have led a tireless campaign to find their daughter amid unprecedented media attention.
They have been to Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Morocco to try to track her down.
It is not the first time Portuguese police have searched an area following a tip off. It is understood their last search was carried out following contact with a psychic medium in America.

Meanwhile back in Britain circa. 2023, Patrick Hill writes again for the Mirror..
Exclusive: Fresh blow in Madeleine McCann case as suspect could be FREED before probe ends
Hans Christian Wolters has admitted the probe against Christian Brueckner, who is suspected of kidnapping Madeleine McCann, could carry on beyond 2026 – when he is due to be released
ByPatrick HillSenior News Reporter

The paedophile suspected of kidnapping Madeleine McCann could be freed before the police finish their investigation, the man in charge of the case has admitted.
Hans Christian Wolters spoke three years after he publicly named jailed German drifter Christian Brueckner as the prime suspect in the British child’s disappearance.
Brueckner is serving a seven-year sentence for the 2005 rape of a pensioner in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz.
And Mr Wolters’ team have been trying to get enough evidence to charge him over the disappearance of Madeleine at the same resort 18 months later. But he has admitted the probe could carry on beyond 2026 – when Brueckner is due to be released.
The revelations will cause fresh heartache for Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry, who have been hoping for answers from the German authorities for the past three years.
Mr Wolters said: “The investigation into the Maddie case will take as long as is necessary. If necessary, beyond a possible release of the accused.”
And confirming his team is yet to speak to Kate and Gerry, he added: “There is no contact with the McCann family.”
In June 2020, the German prosecutor declared they had “strong” evidence against Brueckner, with the probe being “90%” there. He also controversially suggested Madeleine was dead – before later conceding he had no evidence to prove it.

Mr Wolters spoke as German forensic experts prepare to analyse items found during a three-day search at a reservoir 30 miles from Praia da Luz that Brueckner, 46, once called his “little paradise”.
Asked about claims they were trying to find fibres or clothing linked to Madeleine, Mr Wolters said: “We do not comment on speculation.”
Madeleine, of Rothley, Leicestershire, vanished from an apartment on May 3, 2007 during a family holiday, just days before her fourth birthday.
Reports claim phone records place Brueckner in the resort on the night she vanished. Mr Wolters’ team is yet to question Brueckner, who has convictions for crimes including child sex abuse and was quizzed as a witness in the case by German police in 2013.
Brueckner, who denies any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance, could face five further sex charges but no trial date has been set.
In a letter to a friend last month, he said police are “attempting to create a monster” and added: “I got told a long time ago that the prosecutor’s office was closing the Maddie case because there is not even the smallest evidence.”

Now I'm bored, this is so stupid.
The more I read the more convinced I am that Christian Brueckner the alleged multi-faceted criminal exists in name alone.

How I wish that were true.
Fact is, anyone that joins at this late stage has to be for the wrong reasons - it even makes you wonder why the influx of new members, certainly not for any believable developments.
It's not uncommon for new members to join the forum in the spring, whether that's anything to do with post winter malaise, to look behind the scenes, the predicted next anniversary blurb, or a concerted attempt to disrupt is a matter for conjecture.
I guess it will never be known but the forum must continue to be mindful of possible spooks and on guard against potential attack.
CMOMM is still the best, or only, go to place for all things Madeleine McCann, providing we stick to evidence, fact and reasoned assessment, there is no space for troublemakers or jokers.
Onwards and upwards!

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
from the next chapter - to be published soon;
"THE DAM
The recent events at the Arade Dam and reservoir are still fresh in people’s minds. Briefly, in May 2023 another search of a small area of the bank was carried out by the Portuguese, with observers from the BKA and Grange. After three or four days of activity they all packed up and went home.
Press reports varied from simple inventions that “items of interest in the McCann case” had been found and were being taken to Germany for analysis, a statement so obviously ridiculous that a responsible local journalist felt constrained to correct it by pointing out that had anything been found it would have been retained by the Portuguese authorities, who still “own” the case, – to more credible ones that items of women’s underclothing had been found in the undergrowth.
That anyone considered this unusual at secluded areas round a well known beauty spot, shows a remarkable lack of experience or imagination.
However the contamination and ad-mixing with material from every other place he had visited in that decade might just render any comparison less than evidentially conclusive.
For many unthinking believers that must still be reassuring, if only at the sub-primate intellectual level of “If the soil matches, then he must have abducted and killed Madeleine”
Well sadly not. Brückner was a frequent and possibly regular visitor to the Arade dam. Of that we can be sure because Jon Clarke tell us so in a long article published in his Olive Press on 2nd June.
It is as usual headlined “Exclusive”.
For the full luxurious experience of fanciful journalism I recommend reading it in full, at Appendix A (rather than paying for it on the website.)
It may be worth puncturing the balloon even at this stage by observing that the BBC reported on 25th May, rather over a week before Clarke’s exclusive “All the work carried out around the reservoir was on a peninsula jutting out into the Arade dam from its Western shore … The spit of land has a small car park on it, which is often used as an unofficial campsite.”
So we search for the “exclusive element and realise it must be in the Headline.
“GROUND ZERO - THE ‘DRUIDIC CIRCLE HIDEAWAY OF . . .”
Keep reading, It gets better
“Styling out [sic] a living area with a rudimentary table, hewn from a log, he even made an eccentric stone bench down by the water’s edge, facing north east, back towards his native Germany. Next to that, a fire pit and perfect stone circle, the type druids might once use [sic !] for ritual gatherings and sacrifices.”
To the list of secret societies invoked in this saga, Freemasons, Knights Templar, Catenian Brothers, Rosicrucians, . . . we now have to add DRUIDS, and we are faced the dreadful but hilarious thought that Clarke may be amongst those who believe that stone circles and druids were somehow linked.
[Druids are a Celtic Iron age phenomenon. Stonehenge was build ca. 5,000 years ago, long before the Iron age even began. The last Druids disappeared around the 2nd c.AD during the Roman occupation.]
Elsewhere, though sadly not included in Clarke’s piece there were stories of a ‘Shrine’, and of an arrow formed of stones placed in formation on the ground.
Given that there was a car park, a camping area and flat land with a clear access to the reservoir, is it not at least possible that children and young adults have used this spot as a playground for three generations; that some child played with making a stone circle, and then as with cairns on hill tops across the globe, others added to it over the years. Is there evidence that the log was “hewn’ by Brückner, (Or ‘Brueckner’ as Clarke insists on his trademark mis-spelling through the entire article), or that he ‘styled out’ the eccentric stone bench.
IN other news outlets but by-passing the Olive Press entirely, we were assured that the ‘real focus’ of the search was for a gun and some video tapes stolen from Brückner by his close friends Manfred S and Helge B, which were then thrown into the dam. This had in fact been fully recorded by DCI Amaral a VERY long time ago.
So far so good, and almost a reason to do bit of a search, now that the water level of the dam is about 10 metres below the level of 2007 and so much new ground has been exposed.
The only problem with this is that as DCI Amaral recorded - - -
it’s the wrong damned dam.
The gun, if any, was thrown, if it was, into the Santa Clara dam, about 30 km. to the North . . .
“Or Not, as the case may be.”
Even Clarke adverts to this later in his piece “he spent a lot of time at the Barragem da Bravura, nearer to Praia da Luz, as well as further inland at the Santa Clara reservoir, in Alentejo,”.
We may suppose that the soil from each of those areas and from every other area he visited during the decade in question, will be on whichever vehicle or vehicles he was using at the time, just as the very same soil will be on Clarke’s vehicle, the PJ’s vehicles, and the hire cars used by Grange and the BKA. Are the other two dams to be next year’s diversion from the search for the TRUTH ?"
REF 3
Then we were told that “soil samples’ had been taken back to Germany for comparison with soil found on or in Brückner’s VW van. Brückner was arrested in Milan, Italy in 2018, arriving from Switzerland. There might of course still have been sufficient material on his vehicle for forensic comparison after eleven years plus the time between his last visit to the dam and his arrest four countries and 2,500 km. away.
APP A
In it we are told of the inevitable ‘secret camp’, which Clarke was the ONLY journalist (obviously) to visit last year. We are told Brückner came frequently for weekends, and sometimes the whole week, and that “conveniently” the ‘secret camp’; “had a flat stretch of land to park his van”.It may be worth puncturing the balloon even at this stage by observing that the BBC reported on 25th May, rather over a week before Clarke’s exclusive “All the work carried out around the reservoir was on a peninsula jutting out into the Arade dam from its Western shore … The spit of land has a small car park on it, which is often used as an unofficial campsite.”

Fresh heartache for The Kate and Gerry Show - shock horror!
For a start, there is no evidence to suggest Madeleine McCann was kidnapped/abducted/snatched/stolen.
If - and that's a very big emphatic IF the name Christian Brueckner is released from prison before the German prosecutors can create sufficient evidence to pin the tale to the donkey, it wouldn't make the slightest difference. Conclusive evidence of Brueckner's involvement in Madeleine McCann's disappearance would proceed towards a prosecution whether he's in or out of jail.
And don't say he 'might' disappear again because that's just nonsense, it makes no more sense than telling the world he escaped justice in the past by staying off the radar - and then detailing his every move for the 15 years before he was imprisoned.

What will they do when they find that the soil on the camper van matches 146 other places as well.
Send Clarke to take photos and write lurid accounts, and then dig them all up ?
And as I mentioned yesterday Clarke's vehicle now has soil from the Arade dam area on it, and he admits having been there before this year, which must make him a suspect. Bonkers, but then the whole thing is.

even worse, technically it is possible dear jon left a bit in the sample behind, he also had left near the crime scene of 5a. so it is technically possible 5a and the do arade grounds have been contaminated with his very own garden soil, only from different visiting times.
and if in both times it was at the start of may, it can, theoretically of course, being possible to find the same pollen profile.
by writing his articles he actually says, he did not only contaminated the area around 5a, on may 4 of 2007, depending on which version you read of course, but also and again on the site during his visit at the do arade dam area.
not so very helpful for that german investigation. so is our very dear jon the new ghost of heidelberg?
do we have to ask if dear jon lost his bra there?
i actually had expected our dear jon, with his kind of education, had explained a boit more about soil types in that part of portugal, it is his field of course.

Madeleine McCann case suffers fresh blow as suspect could be freed before investigation ends
Story by Jack Walters • 42m ago
The latest investigation into Madeleine McCann’s disappearance could end when the lead suspect is released from prison, authorities have warned.
Investigator Hans Christian Wolters suggested the probe could continue until after Christian Brueckner is released from prison in 2026.
Wolters said: “The investigation into the Maddie case will take as long as is necessary.
“If necessary, beyond a possible release of the accused.”
He added: “There is no contact with the McCann family.
Wolters claimed there was “strong” evidence against Brueckner in June 2020.
He also suggested Madeleine was dead but later conceded there was no evidence to support his theory.
When asked about a recent three-day search conducted at a reservoir just 30miles from Praia da Luz, Wolters said: “We do not comment on speculation.”
The announcement comes as a blow to parents Kate and Gerry.
The family were hoping the authorities’ latest decision to search a Portuguese reservoir could reveal more answers to their daughter’s disappearance.
Madeleine vanished at the age of three during a family holiday to the popular Portuguese resort in 2007.
Brueckner has denied any involvement in McCann’s abduction.
However, he was quizzed as a witness in the case by German police in 2013.
In a letter sent to a friend last month, the 45-year-old accused police of “attempting to create a monster”.
Brueckner added: “I got told a long time ago that the prosecutor’s office was closing the Maddie case because there is not even the smallest evidence.”
No suspects have ever been charged in connection with her disappearance

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
The OSS psychological profile of Hitler described his use of the big lie:
His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.
Goebbels did describe the big lie in different language in an article he wrote in 1941, “Churchill’s Lie Factory,” but he was accusing the British of the ploy:
The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.

Still working on the same old Tricks…
This is past ridiculous now.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
It's taken me weeks to find this.
Taken from the Discovery+ Prime suspect: The Madeleine McCann Case documentary - released February 2021.
The German prosecutors chief witness in the case they are trying to build against Christian Brueckner, the words of Manfred Seyferth, a known felon - my summary of the documentary..
So, the elusive video camera found by Seyferth and his accomplice was taken to the hills of bandits, later finds it's way into Brueckner's camper van when he sold it and then later chucked in a remote reservoir (not necessarily in that order), a tourist attraction (?), along with a gun also found by Seyferth and accomplice in Brueckner's derelict hide-away bunker but not previously mentioned - at least not in the discovery+ documentary.
With such reliable witnesses to guide them, it's no wonder the German investigation is at a standstill as regards progress.
I don't subscribe to Discovery+ so can't elaborate more than already said.

Back to the Discovery+ documentary.
I think I'm starting to get the general drift bearing in mind I've invariably got one eye in the kettle and the other in the pot when viewing, so attention span is limited.
There are images (videos?) from two different sources..
1. An ex-girlfried of Brueckner referred to only as 'M', who doesn't wish to be named or filmed (Episode 1) because she fears media intrusion - can't argue with that. Anyway, she leads the documentary to the derelict factory (?) where the the USB drive was found buried under Brueckner's dog - allegedly.
2. Manfred Seyferth and his unidentified accomplice (Episode 2) found the camera with videos of the rape of two women in the farmhouse where Brueckner was said to be living, it was there that all the doors were open and the inside had been torn apart. Seyferth thought it was probably the police who did this because that's what they do - so say he!
It would appear, as previously said, they didn't hand the camera over to the police because they had 'broken into the property to steal'. I think I've got this right, the camera was later found in Brueckner's camper van, he left it in there when he sold the van.
Manfred Seyferth and his friend took the camera into the lawless hills where they were staying with bandits. His friend checked the camera for photographs and videos, that's what he always does, so say Seyferth. It revealed the rape and torture of a 16 year old girl and a woman Seyferth said was around 45 years but his friend said something contradictory.
The documentary is very fragmented which makes it difficult to follow the trail of evidence, with an overload of atmospheric staging for dramatic effect. As can be seen from the above camera and ruler swinging about suspended from what looks like a butcher's hook.
I've yet to be sure about which set of videos sent him to prison, if any. As I say, it's difficult to follow the trail of evidence and I can't always watch or listen attentively.
