Yes - especially if they are looking for money. Just tell several police forces, and a solicitor, just in case!

It sickens me to the very core - especially when on the back of a missing three year old child.

MADELEINE MCCANN'S parents face a "dreadful dilemma" as new revelations emerge concerning the prime suspect in the investigation into her disappearance, a missing persons expert has said.

By Aleks Phillips
07:00, Sat, Apr 30, 2022 | UPDATED: 09:44, Sat, Apr 30, 2022

At the end of April, Christian B, a convicted child sexual abuser currently imprisoned in Oldenburg, was named an “arguido”, or main suspect, in Maddie’s disappearance by Portuguese authorities. Charlie Hedges, a former UK police officer who was previously head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection unit at the National Crime Agency, told Express.co.uk that the legal move, though “common sense” on behalf of investigators, left the McCanns in an “unbelievably difficult” situation.

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 Scre2343

Christian B was named as prime suspect by German public prosecutors investigating Madeleine’s disappearance in Braunschweig in 2020.

He has always denied all allegations in relation to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

However, in a letter purportedly penned by Christian B, he told MailOnline: “I did nothing – well almost nothing”.

Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, welcomed the latest news as reflecting “progress in the investigation”.

Writing on the official Find Madeleine Facebook page, the couple said: “Even though the possibility may be slim, we have not given up hope that Madeleine is still alive and we will be reunited with her.”

Mr Hedges suggested that the forces investigating the case and Madeleine’s parents may have differing objectives.

The Portuguese authority’s naming of Christian B as a prime suspect suggests a confluence of opinion among investigators on someone German prosecutors believe is ultimately responsible for Madeleine’s death.

A recent report claiming the Metropolitan Police’s Operation Grange is to be shut down in the autumn also alleged that officers investigating the case had been unable to gather sufficient evidence against Christian B – suggesting UK police also likely view him as a suspect.

Mr Hedges said: “It’s one of those massive dilemmas for parents in these situations. As long as Madeleine or whoever is missing, is not found, they can hang on to the hope that she will one day be found, because it does happen occasionally – it’s very, very rare, but it does happen.

“They will always hang onto that hope even if it's an unrealistic hope. They will always want to believe that maybe she'll just pop up.”

He added that revelations like these that the McCanns had been receiving for the last 15 years meant they would be “on a rollercoaster” emotionally.

Mr Hedges continued: “There’s a dilemma [in] that they don't want him to have done it because that then cancels out the chances of finding her – they know, finally, that she's dead. So they’re caught in this dreadful dilemma.

And that's the horror of the situation: for 15 years, they've been living that. And every time there's some sort of new speculation, or some new information comes to light, they'll think: ‘Yes, great, it will be resolved’.

“But it also means that if it is resolved, then we know she's dead, and we're never going to see her again. Really, a horrible, horrific situation to be in and I think it's just unbelievably difficult.”

Hans Christian Wolters, spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office in Braunschweig, has previously said they hope to “solve” the disappearance, and recently told this website that their investigation remained “ongoing” and appeared unlikely to end soon.

While some hoped the arguido status may lead to a charge in Portugal ahead of next Tuesday's May 3 cut-off date, investigators and experts alike poured cold water on an immediate charge.

Mr Hedges explained the arguido status had been enacted so that investigations into Christian B could continue after the statute of limitations had run out. “It doesn't mean anyone's going to be charged, but without it, you can't move to a charge," he added.

“I wouldn't expect him to be whisked off there straightaway. I think people will say it's only been done because of the deadline.

“And if they haven't got enough to charge him, and he is a suspect, it just seems common sense that you would actually go through that process so as not to lose everything all together, rather than some of the speculation [that] they've been forced to do it by the deadline approaching.

“If I were investigating a case, and I knew that was looming, I'd have to seriously think: would it be sensible to invoke that status to ensure that everything doesn't grind to a halt now, when there's still the prospect of getting more evidence and potentially being able to charge him?”

Meanwhile, Mr Wolters told the Guardian he believed it was “rather unlikely there will be an indictment in Portugal”. He agreed the move had been made so that “the statute of limitations can be prevented” when speaking to Express.co.uk last week.

Aagje Ieven, secretary general of Missing Children Europe, previously stressed “how important that is, for parents to be able to close such cases” as the uncertainty of the fate of a missing child breeds “complex grief” among family members.

The 15th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance is next Tuesday, May 3.

thinking Of course the real dilemma is:

Do we

A. Accept CB as a patsy and concede that Madeleine is dead or her whereabouts known, or

B. Exonerate CB and keep the pretence going and the cash rolling in?

They won't do A, of course, and would they dare do B? It's not their place to exonerate a suspect, even though Kate knows what happened - she was there.

it was not cb who started the letter thing, the names are out already, everyone who want can just use zooming in, and 1 of the two made herself already known earlier, isabel, the other died not long ago.

it is the usual kind of letter that is send from jails al over the world, they never have done it, the are always fixed up, and from time to time that could happen. criminals do not have a habit to confess to people they do not know, by letter , that will be read before it leaves a jail. letters that have something useful for a trial, would just travel per lawyer.

there was quite a buzz about it, even the ones i know from my schooldays had more trill. just like in those days, it was just made up buzz.

talking with sonia about contacting the lawyer, if it did not mingle in his casework.

for me it was only a piece of information, that was going around, and it was pretty easy to get a copy of it.

the only use it had for me was, that in the letter cb talks about his book, and i had already got some information from someone about books, found at the old box factory, and Amaral had it also in his latest book.

it made it into thinking, Amaral had seen indeed the evidence the germans wanted to share with portugal, and Amaral is not someone that is willing to tell porkies. thanks to the daily mail, i do not have to use a private conversation. sorry for the anti portuguese brigade. no munition for you.

and it is nice to know, some people on websleuths do read what we write overhere, and are in reality not those very brave characters they want to look. oen of their german members just stole that information, and not to believe it, they are still talking about it. when i first mentioned it on this forum, i had it still in my head in the box gossip.

i still do not know if it was on real paper, or just a usb thing, or going by the state and build of the computers found at the old box factory it could have been a good old floppy.

i heard it around july of 2020 in a face to face conversation, that person had a lot quite gruesome tale about how the evidence was found together with the dead dogs and a fire. in october i got a copy of that letter, and in that letter cb writes about his want to write a book, a bit mystical, not ready, and not written yet in the same 2 sentences. and then got Amaral his latest book on the market, and voila, there was the book again.

at the box factory there is spoken per Amaral of 2 books, das buch 1, and das buch, the book 1, and the book. it could be very easy to decide of cb did write those pieces of text, but the germans are very silent about it, not all germans, because i heard it from a german person, the autobiographic style mentioning is from Amaral. but i'm an avid reader of books, and two third of them are just fantasy, even if they are written in the i person style. harry potter is a easy guess, that must be fantasy. but a series like the wallander books are still fantasy of the writer, but with a more realistic feel to it.

so it could be that der hans cristian has a very big dilemma, has he just the next wallander in jail, or the writer of an autobiographic horror work. it is of course not the first production that uses madeleine mccann for a spin off, or a work of fantasy.
poor hans christian must pray that those interviewers only ask about the usual stuff, and thinking, do not ask about a book, the book, no questions about the books.

the daily mail has just started, they showed 1, and a half page of the letter, still 4.5 to go, so they will be busy the coming weeks with singling out soms sentences, that had a purpose in the full waterfall of words by cb, but you can use them so nicely to insinuate something else. sending this letter to the daily mail was just stupid, if you are pretending to be a cb groupie.

i do not know the uk laws about secrecy of mail, but the writer is always the owner of his words, not the one who is written too. but if you are just in the hot, wet and windy states of the usa, you have little to fear of course.

the original story is not nice one, and other than the websleuths policy, i do think this forum can do without drooling over unnecessary horror-porn. also there is never been proof, these elements seen during the raid of the old box factory are done by cb himself. that guy did had the habit to live together with other criminals and at least very shady figures. the person who told me, had seen it with his own eyes, and i do know the guy pretty well to trust it, but that does not mean it has the same threshold of proof we usually are used to on this forum.

Brückner has always had the dream of becoming a Millionaire some day.

It makes sense that at some point in time, he might have considered writing his own Book about Madeleine.

I find it a (berechtigte Frage) qaulified Question - is his writing either Fact, or Fiction? It must be Established either way.

Madeleine McCann: 15 years on, case should ‘never be parked and forgotten’ by police
THE CASE of Madeleine McCann's disappearance should "never be parked and forgotten" by investigating police forces, a former police officer and missing persons expert has said ahead of the 15th anniversary since she vanished.
By ALEKS PHILLIPS

Video here https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1601563/madeleine-mccann-15-years-on-disappearance-never-parked-forgotten-missing-person-expert

Charlie Hedges, former head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection unit at the National Crime Agency and expert at Amber Alert, said that during his time in the force he implemented guidance that such missing person cases should be put on a rotating review. He praised the work of the Metropolitan Police in investigating Maddie’s disappearance, but admitted that “nothing can be forever”.

It comes as authorities in Portugal have named convicted rapist and child sexual abuser Christian B as an “arguido”, or named suspect, in their investigation.

The German national was identified as the prime suspect in Madeleine's disappearance by investigators in Braunschweig in June 2020.

Police suspect he may be responsible for the killing of Maddie. Christian B has always denied all allegations in relation to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

The latest move is linked to Portugal’s statute of limitations, which typically prevents crimes which carry a maximum prison sentence to be prosecuted over fifteen years after they were committed.

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 Madeleine-McCann-1601563

As the anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance draws closer, it is believed Portuguese investigators want to leave open the possibility of charges should they find sufficient evidence.

Sister paper the Mirror reported last week that Christian B had been questioned by German investigators, on behalf of the Portuguese authorities, about Madeleine McCann after being given the new legal status.

The fresh attention being aimed at Christian B comes after claims that the Metropolitan Police would be shutting down Operation Grange, dedicated to the case, after 11 years.

A source told the Sun last month that officers had been unable to secure sufficient evidence to bring a charge against Christian B.

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 Christian-B-4039972

The operation – which is estimated to have cost the Home Office £13 million – could be reopened if significant new information were to come to light.

The decision to close it down would also have implications for Kate and Gerry, Madeleine’s parents: whereas German officers investigating the disappearance believe Madeleine to be dead, the Metropolitan Police has always treated Operation Grange as a missing persons case.

Asked to comment on the claims, Mr Hedges said: “Well, I think nothing can be forever. If you've hand on heart, say you've done absolutely every possible thing you can, then you can't keep a case open for infinity.

“However, the guidance that I wrote years ago, and still stands in the professional practice for police around this, is that the case should constantly be reviewed, either on a timely basis to make sure it's put in the diary to be done on a regular basis or if evidence arises, then you should look at it.

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 Madeleine-McCann-breakthrough-German-suspect-Christian-Brueckner-named-police-first-time Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 1599840_1

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 1578598_1  “What should never happen [is] for it be parked and forgotten. It should always be there and be on a rotating basis with the review.”

Madeleine went missing when she was three years old, while her family were on holiday in the Algarve in 2007.

She and her siblings had been left asleep in the couple’s ground-floor apartment on May 3 that year. Her parents checked in on the children throughout the evening, until Kate discovered Madeleine was missing at around 10pm.

While not in the Metropolitan Police’s jurisdiction, in 2011 the Home Office granted a special fund to aid the Portuguese investigation.

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 Scotland-Yard-4039974

Mr Hedges added: “If you look at it in its purest sense, she went missing in Portugal. That's where the whole thing lives. And that's where the ownership is.

“We're very good in the UK at picking up cases of UK nationals who are in these situations, and that's to be commended and is a great thing. But if you're looking at it as a purist, then what role is there for the UK police? They're not there to lead the investigation.

“Clearly, they want to support families in the UK – and let's not misconstrue any of this, I think it's really important that we do these things for families – but the ultimate responsibility does lay with the Portuguese police.”

Mr Hedges noted that while the “investigation team” might be closed down, under his guidance the case is not, instead being “constantly reviewed and monitored”.

Hello, to everyone, hoping all are well and in good health. I spoke with Jill on FB, I've came here to translate what's coming out in the Portuguese press, which is not much frankly. First the press release by the PGR in Faro.

Maddie case. Constitution of arguido. MP . DIAP of Faro - Portimão Section
21 April 2022

In the scope of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, in 2007, of Madeleine McCann, this Wednesday, an arguido was constituted.

The arguido was constituted by the German authorities in execution of a request for international judicial cooperation issued by the Public Ministry of Portugal.

The investigation is being led by the Faro DIAP (Portimão section), with the assistance of the Judiciary Police.

The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the English and German authorities.

Christian Brueckner named as a arguido in the Maddie case
Measure aims to allow investigation to continue, since the child's disappearance was due to prescribe in May

By Marisa Rodrigues

Christian Brueckner, 44, has been charged by the Faro District Public Prosecutor's Office in the case of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, in 2007, from Praia da Luz in the Algarve.

The man, who lived in the Algarve between 1995 and 2007, is serving a prison sentence in Germany for a crime of a sexual nature, and has recently been pointed out by the German authorities as a suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. He is also a suspect in other sex crimes.

JN understands that the constitution of arguido was fundamental for the investigation to continue, as the investigation would expire next May, when 15 years will have passed since the disappearance of the child.

"The arguido was constituted by the German authorities in execution of a request for international judicial cooperation issued by the Public Ministry of Portugal," a note released by the Public Ministry reads.

The investigation is being led by the Portimão section of Faro's Department of Investigation and Penal Action, with the assistance of the Judiciary Police. The investigation has been developed in cooperation with the English and German authorities.

Madeleine McCann disappeared on May 3, 2007, just days before her fourth birthday, from the room where she was sleeping with her two younger twin siblings in a flat in a tourist resort in Praia da Luz.

The Judiciary Police (PJ) reopened the investigation in 2013, after the case had been shelved by the Attorney General's Office in 2008, clearing three arguidos: the child's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, and another Briton, Robert Murat. Brueckner's name came up in 2020.

Expresso Exclusive

Maddie McCann case: Brückner is accused to avoid prescription of the crime. Portuguese authorities have evidence against the German

By Hugo Franco and Rui Gustavo

The German prosecutor in the case tells Expresso he has nothing to do with the measure of the Portuguese MP, suggesting it is a way to prevent the prescription of the crime. The German suspect's former Portuguese lawyer considers the prosecution's strategy of turning Brückner into the official suspect in Madeleine McCann's death to be "valid". Investigation should be concluded by the end of the year

The Faro Public Prosecutor's Office has decided to make Christian Brückner an arguido now to avoid the statute of limitations for the crime in Portugal, which would occur on 3 May 2022, fifteen years after the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

According to a judicial source, both the PJ and the MP believe that there is enough evidence to continue investigating the German citizen, who is in prison in his home country: he was in the surroundings of Aldeia da Luz on the day the English child went missing and apparently confessed to a friend that he was responsible for the crime.

The investigation, coordinated by the PJ of Porto, which is still doing diligences - hearing witnesses, for example - hopes to conclude the work until the end of 2022. At that time, the Public Prosecutor's Office will have to decide whether or not to bring charges. If there is an indictment, the case should go to Germany, where Brückner will be judged for the disappearance of the English child.

Under Portuguese law, the establishment of the arguido suspends the statute of limitations for a further seven and a half years. If there is an indictment, there is an additional period of three years.

According to the Penal Code, crimes punishable by prison sentences with a maximum limit of more than 10 years prescribe after 15 years. In this case, there is suspicion of the crime of aggravated homicide (with a sentence of between 12 and 25 years in prison).

"It is a valid strategy of our Public Ministry," stresses Serafim Vieira, who was Christian Brückner's lawyer the year before Maddie's disappearance, in a case in which the German was imprisoned for eight months in the Algarve for theft of diesel.

To Expresso, Hans Christian Wolters, the German prosecutor in the case says he has nothing to do with the Portuguese MP's measure.

"We, as public prosecutors in Braunschweig, have nothing to do with this," the prosecutor explains.

"Apparently, Portugal has asked the Oldenburg Public Prosecutor's Office, through legal assistance, to inform Mr Brückner of his status as a suspect in the Portuguese (Maddie) case. Apparently also, this has a criminal procedural antecedent in Portugal. In this way, the statute of limitations can be avoided. But I don't know anymore. We never saw the documents," says the German official.

German suspect lived in the Algarve

The disappearance of Madeleine McCann and Brückner's involvement is being investigated in three separate cases: one in Portugal, another in Germany and yet another in England.

Brückner is in prison in Germany serving a seven-year sentence for the rape of an American woman in Portugal. He is also suspected of the rape of an Irish woman, also in Portugal, and of a crime of sexual harassment of minors committed in 2017, in São Bartolomeu de Messines, in the Algarve.

This Thursday, a note from the Faro Prosecutor's Office said that the arguido was constituted by the German authorities in execution of a request for international judicial cooperation issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Portugal. The investigation is being led by the Faro DIAP (Portimão branch) with the assistance of the Judiciary Police. The investigation has been carried out in collaboration with the English and German authorities.

In reaction to his client being named as a arguido, his lawyer, Friedrich Fülscher, told Bild newspaper: "Without knowing the Portuguese legal situation in detail, I assume that this measure is a procedural trick to avoid the impending statute of limitations in a few days.”

Lawyer Serafim Vieira also admits the same thesis: "Now, with the constitution of the defendant, the periods of prescription of the criminal process are suspended and interrupted. The interruption ends when the process is res judicata".

Arrest for rape of 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz

Brückner was living in Portugal at the height of the Madeleine McCann disappearance and was near the village of Luz on the day of the disappearance. Already in Germany, he was heard by witnesses boasting that he was responsible for the child's disappearance.

In June 2020, the Braunschweig prosecutor's office opened a case against Brückner based on "material evidence", but a year later the prosecution has yet to materialise.

Maddie disappeared from the tourist flat her family rented in Praia da Luz, Algarve, on the night of May 3, 2007, when she was three years old, taken from the room where she was sleeping with two other siblings.

Among the various suspects singled out, there were even the parents themselves, who were also constituted as arguidos  and later exonerated by the Portuguese authorities.

Until today it is unknown what happened to the English child, in a case that led to a lawsuit by the parents against the Inspector of the Judiciary Police - Gonçalo Amaral - who led the investigation and wrote a controversial book in which the parents appear as the main suspects.

"Christian Brücker is to stand trial this year for the rape of a 20-year-old woman in Portugal, Spiegel reported in December.

According to the same source, the Braunschweig public prosecutor's office is expected to charge the suspect, Christian Brücker, with the rape of a 20-year-old German woman that occurred in Portugal in 2004, three years before the disappearance of British child Madeleine McCann.

Spiegel added that the case of the 20-year-old German girl bears similarities to the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old US citizen in Praia da Luz in the Algarve, a crime for which Christian Brücker has already been sentenced to seven years in prison in Germany."

Prosecutors are poised to charge Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner by the end of the summer. Detectives have told potential witnesses to be on standby to give evidence in person in a German courtroom.

The development comes a day before the 15th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance in Portugal in May 2007. She vanished from her parents’ holiday flat in Praia da Luz while they dined with friends in a tapas restaurant.

Brueckner, 45, a convicted paedophile who lived in the resort, was named as a suspect in June 2020. German prosecutors claim to have evidence that he abducted and murdered the tragic three-year-old.

One former friend told the Mirror: “I got a call from the Germans asking questions about a previous statement I made. “They said I should be prepared to come to Germany, possibly at the end of the summer. They said they were hoping to charge Christian with something but didn’t go into any more detail.”

It is not known if the charges will be related to Madeleine’s disappearance or the other crimes he is suspected of in Portugal.

This whole thing is fascinating.

Will he be charged with
1.   finding her outside the apartment, picking her up, looking after her and selling her to childless couple in Morocco
2.   Hearing her crying after falling to Jon Clarke's deep trench immediately outside the apartment, rescuing her and selling her to a Saudi Prince as the next "Mahdi" with the magic eye
3.    Breaking in by forcing/smashing/jemmying/breaking the shutters, sedating all three children and selecting the eldest to carry away
4.    wandering up the outside stairs past the father and a friend who are talking in the street directly outside, and looking around for something of value to steal,
but ignoring FIVE British passports and instead choosing to take away an active nearly-four year old, and going back down the stairs in front of the father  . . .
5.    [insert your own scenario as appropriate]

Because the Prosecution in a case HAS to put forward a credible scenario.
It is NOT good enough to say "M'Lud. Something happened.  We don't know exactly what, but we think he did it."

Not in England. Not in Portugal, and not in Germany

Even "trumped up" Charges, have to be "trumped up".

Madeleine McCann: Suspect Christian B claims he has an alibi which can be backed by woman
Christian B says he was having sex in his camper van with a woman at the time of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.

Martin Brunt
Crime correspondent @skymartinbrunt

Monday 2 May 2022 14:01, UK

The man suspected of abducting Madeleine McCann insists he was many miles from the scene having sex in his camper van with a young woman who will back his alibi.
Christian B says he drove the woman to the airport at Faro, Portugal, for a flight home the next day and they were stopped and photographed at a police roadblock.

The suspect, a German drifter, claims she was arrested at airport security for carrying an illegal pepper spray and later appeared in court.
Christian B, as he is known under German privacy laws, believes Portuguese police must have a record of those events that will establish his relationship with the young German woman who was on holiday with her parents.
Apparently, German police found a photograph of the woman lying in his camper van during their investigation into a rape for which Christian B, 44, is now serving a seven-year jail sentence in Germany.

When he first spoke of his alibi he couldn't recall the woman's full name, but it's understood he has since been able to identify her.
If it's true, the alibi would contradict vital, but circumstantial, evidence from mobile phone data masts that police say puts him close to the apartment from where Madeleine vanished from her bed 15 years ago in Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007.

According to police, the suspect's mobile phone was in the village when it received a call from 7.32pm to 8.02pm.

Madeleine's parents said she disappeared between 9 and 10pm. Christian B insists that by 10pm he had driven miles along the coast east towards Faro.
German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters, who is leading the Madeleine investigation with Portuguese and British detectives, told Sky News: "I assume if he has anything that exonerates him that sooner or later he will share it with us and we would then check it out. What happens then, let's see.
"So far he has told us nothing, he's given us no alibi. So, we can only work on the evidence we have found so far in our investigation. And there was nothing to exonerate him."
But German prosecutors had never, until two weeks ago, formally interviewed Christian B, a convicted sex offender, even though he has been their chief suspect for more than four years.
They questioned him on 21 April on behalf of the Portuguese authorities who had just made him an arguido, a formal suspect, for their own purposes to avoid a statute of limitations on serious crimes under Portuguese law.
But as an arguido Christian B had the right to silence and refused to answer questions about his whereabouts on the night Madeleine vanished.
Madeleine was nearly four when she disappeared from the family's rented holiday apartment in Praia da Luz on the Algarve coast.
Her parents Kate and Gerry McCann were dining with friends nearby on the holiday complex and had left her sleeping with her younger twin siblings. They and their friends were taking turns to check on the sleeping children every half-an-hour.
The McCanns were once suspects for their daughter's disappearance, but were later cleared of all suspicion. They cling to the hope she will still be found alive.
Portuguese police and UK detectives have investigated, but the German authorities took the lead in 2017 when a friend of the suspect told them Christian B had allegedly claimed to know what had happened to Madeleine.
Mr Wolters said: "We actually haven't found a single piece of the puzzle in the two years that would have somehow helped to exonerate Christian B. So it's really nothing that would somehow maybe be an alibi or something. Nothing of that has come to light, really at any point.
"What we found out, it all went in the other direction, so was rather incriminating, without me being able to elaborate on that now.
He added: "However, it is not foreseeable when we will come to an end. So I can't say that we will definitely conclude the investigations this year. That really also depends on how this develops."
Mr Wolters has said in the past he believed Madeleine was dead, but would not reveal what evidence he had.
He is also investigating Christian B over three other sex assault allegations, including the rape of a young Irish woman, Hazel Behan, who was working as a holiday rep on the Algarve in 2004.
She has spoken publicly about being raped in her apartment at Praia da Rocha and waived her right to anonymity.

Exclusive: Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner 'to be charged by end of summer'

Portuguese prosecutors named Christian Brueckner an official suspect in recent weeks but he had not been officially charged and continues to deny all involvement in the case

ByMartin FrickerNews Reporter

19:00, 1 May 2022Updated11:11, 2 May 2022

Brueckner was made an official suspect, or “arguido”, last month by Portuguese police still investigating Madeleine’s disappearance.

Her parents Kate and Gerry, from Rothley, in Leicestershire, welcomed the news, saying they have “not given up hope” that she is still alive.

Brueckner is also suspected of raping an Irish tour rep in 2004 and exposing himself to youngsters in an Algarve playground.

Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said last October that he believes “a conclusion will be reached next year”.

Now we can reveal friends who knew Brueckner when he lived in Portugal have been told that charges could be imminent.

Mr Wolters said the evidence they have against Brueckner left them “100% convinced” he killed her.

He told Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry: “We are confident we have the man who took and killed your daughter.”

Brueckner denies any involvement in her abduction and has declined to speak to police or prosecutors.

He is serving a seven-year sentence in Kiel Prison, northern Germany, for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz in 2005.

German prosecutors summoned Brueckner’s pals to give evidence against him during that trial in Braunschweig.

They included drifter Christian Post, who spent time with him in Praia da Luz.

Last month Post, who lives in Cambodia, told the Mirror that he is “100% certain” Brueckner snatched Madeleine.

He claimed the German regularly broke into holiday apartments in Praia da Luz to steal cash and passports.

Brueckner mocked the case against him after being made an arguido and insisted his accusers have no evidence.

Julian Hamilton/Daily Mirror)

He wrote in a letter: “They had not even one proof I was involved with the McCann case. And they still don’t have it. I know why.

"Because they have no hairs or anything from Maddie [which] means that nobody can put anything like that in my stuff to find it.”

Kate and Gerry are preparing to mark the 15th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance tomorrow.

The couple will spend the day at home with their teenage twins Sean and Amelie.

Here's my take on Christian Brückner: I think he is just a show-off who according to all accounts had been in the Algarve area at the time of Madeleine McCanns disappearance and who had taken advantage of that fact in the past and liked to boast about having knowledge of her fate when he probably hasn't. The rest is tabloid sensationalism imo.

As for the bold announcements that had been made in the past by German authorities: I think Brückner is being fitted up. And I have a feeling that there's a re-writing of history going on at present, I think making him an arguido gave the story another boost - part of the reason why I'm so concerned regarding Joana Morais' stuff being unaccessible all of a sudden.

Best regards from Germany (where, by the way, no-one is really interested in the latest news about CB and in the MM case in general).

just waiting. it will get a rehearsal in the others pretty quickly. and fat chance we heard it already.

no, i mean a livestream, like the ones we had for the german thing. i work mostly from a desktop, so no problem with that. two years ago they raided the servers with the good and free livestreams from all over europe. channel 5 is not that interested usually to make me want an abo for just two episodes. and often it is not even possible outside the uk. my provider does not go beyond bbc 1 and 2. it is not illegal here to just look, but broadcasting is.

EXCLUSIVE: GREATER THAN GRISHAM: MADDIE MCCANN SUSPECT CHRISTIAN BRUECKNER SCRIBING A ‘BESTSELLER’ IN PRISON

MADELEINE McCann suspect Christian Brueckner is penning a book.
The German sex offender, made an arguido, or official suspect in Portugal, last month, is writing it in prison, he has revealed.
In a remarkable six-page letter written to an American blogger, he insists it will be ‘a bestseller’ with a plot as good as anything by novelist John Grisham.
“I know, all of the things I say are hard to believe. John Grisham couldn’t find a better story for a book,” he wrote in the missive sent from his prison cell in Germany.
Brueckner, 45, was pouring his heart out to anti-McCann supporter Isabelle McFadden, who insists he is innocent.
In the letter also addressed to fellow McCann troll Ben Salmon, he wrote that he had been dreaming of being a writer for 20 years.
And he insisted it would make a lot of money as he was the most famous German in the world, adding darkly that ‘Hitler was Austrian’.

An extract from the letter
The prisoner – who admits in the letter he is facing five separate charges for rape and abuse – also compared himself to infamous gangster John Dillinger, who became America’s Public Enemy Number 1 in the 1930s.
Written in surprisingly good English, he insisted he was being framed and ranted that the prosecutors and police all had ‘serious cocaine problems’.
“Since about 20 years I’m dreaming to be a book writer. I planned to write an interesting roman (novel) with 1000 pages or even more.

“Ok, the book is not written yet, it still needs some work, but one day, when there comes out a book written by me with the true story I guess it will be a bestseller.
“A book, written by the most known german guy in the world. (Hitler was Austrian).”
In signing off, he finishes: “It would be very interesting to see articles from other countries about me. Am I the second Dillinger already?”
The convicted paedophile and sex offender, who is half way through a seven-year sentence for the rape of American pensioner, Diana Menkes, 72, will be charged with at least four more crimes this Spring.
The Olive Press revealed last month that German prosecutors have already launched the paperwork that needs to be sent to Italy first, as that was where he was last a free man.
He was picked up in Milan in 2018 when he managed to evade justice and flee Germany for a month due to a bureaucratic error.
He claims to have an alibi for the night three-year-old British girl Madeleine was abducted from her apartment in the resort of Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007.
This is despite German police launching an appeal in June 2020 making him the prime suspect after they discovered he made a 30-minute phone call in the Algarve resort just over an hour before she went missing.
Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters insisted he is ‘100% certain’ he murdered the toddler.
Portuguese police made Brueckner an official arguido on April 20 which means that the statute of limitations of 15 years for the crime does not come in.
They also claim to have strong evidence he is guilty of abducting Madeleine but it is unlikely an extradition request will be successful as the Germans will prosecute Brueckner themselves having built up a strong case since 2016.
The Olive Press revealed this weekend that three BKA detectives joined two Portugese PJ officers to put a list of 20 questions to the German suspect in Oldenburg prison last month.
He refused to answer a single question.

Oh, so that's how is going to clear his name and make a fortune in the process. Meanwhile the case gets closed, the public are manipulated into thinking that the McCanns are innocent and they get away with everything. Furthermore, they continue their pretend search for Madeleine.

thinking I wonder who will serialise this book, The Sun or the Olive Press, since Jon Clarke-Kent of fakenews fame has already advertised it.

A willing patsy? nod I think so

This is nothing short of sick.

One named person is a notorious attention seeker the other is dead.

The attention seeker should be ignored, the other should be allowed to rest in peace.  He has a living daughter still mourning his death.

CMOMM is no place for this nonsense.

CMoMM is however a place where Clarke's lack of humanity and common decency should be exposed.

A place where his role in the whole ghastly saga should be dissected and analysed.
He takes a leading place in the list of those spokespeople who have kept the "Abduction on 3/5/7" in the minds of the uncritical or uninformed
Even when he has been shown incapable of articulating a credible scenario he has continued to insist that it must have happened.

His different versions of even his own movements are notable, changing as they do with the likely audience.
He has more recently sought to say that none of that matters, as it is not the "REAL story".

He does not seem to understand that it reflects on his credibility and reliability as reporter of note,
and serves only to undermine general trust in the entire 'profession'.

no news at all, jon clark looks to be fond of dead people, probably because dead people do not sue, and have lost their opportunity to speak up, that is why we usually decide to not speak ill of the dead. jon clark has no morals, one of his last former pieces already had the need to publicize the full name of the american victim in the rape case cb is for behind bars at the moment.

well now he calls even dirty names, so at least he is progressing in his stance, it would not serve anything or anyone to use these names. it was also no secret anymore, the daily mail had already put the first part of the letter in an article, it is already known in the world of social media. so nasty jon decided, let's go and let's see if my readers, probably only trolls under his way of categorization, okay and dear pammy from twitter.
you know the one that lost the plot, she has spoken some years ago with an alive madeleine living in the mountains of morocco, but still thinks that cb is guilty as told as per german mouth of justice, she did not get the meaning of murder. you know the one that does not see anything wrong with downloading child porn class a material and only look at it, as long as you only do that you are a nice lad.

it would have been such a nice 'keep the money in the pocket' tip, instead of paying a provider, if i had known i only had to pick up my collection of rock cristals from the kabinet, to get to talk to anyone dead or alive. but i do know that handling cristals can be a source of lead, and handling them could lead to lead poisoning. so let's give pammy from twitter a leaded break for that. but still it is a bit of a shame, she did not has that conversation on tape. it would made everything so much easier.

actually sonia poulton has the first outing of this letter from september 2020 this spring, and had not only the letter, but also another vip twitter persona, that is indeed one of the duo that send the letter. and the one that decided it was a good idea to send it also to the mail, well that is not. tabloids are very well capable to make their own news, they do not need the public for that.

i still find it a stupid decision to give the letter to a tabloid, because it means we have to read at least a week of minced, spit out and eaten again pie news. news that is already so old it stinks a bit, and the sauce of the olive dripp does not much better that.

i do think cb is not the only one in the saga around this case, that wanted to be rich and famous, famous is easy, all people who are still following the case of madeleine mccann knows the name of cb. jon clark is just a
no-need-to-be-notified kind, he even has not made himself a wikipedia page, most people who want to be famous and rich do at least that, for a cb that is a bit difficult, jails usually do not give access to the free www, but jon could.

it is quite strange to see the chosen format, pretending you own the largest free paper paper in spain, but you can not get enough advertises money for your online thingy, so you want people to pay for old news.
and of course from his tower of morals, he would not want it, we trolls by his thresholds pay for that piece.
come on he is a so bloody principled man in this case, he would not like to live his life from dirty money.

well today is started, tonight it will be exactly 15 years the mccanns did set the alarm, to the start of their version of the truth. so it will be also 15 years of trying to hide the one and only version of the truth, that is needed to serve justice to a almost 4 years old , little girl called madeleine beth mccann.

tomorrow it is the anniversary of the first officially stated lie by her own father. the rest was given informal.
really something to be proud of as a parent. madeleine is still only missing for the world, but there is a quite large group of people that know she is not missing, it happened differently, they tell, they were there. and at least that we agree on by now. lots of people do know madeleine is not missing for them. they just choose based on very different reasons to tell another version of their made in to truth, and i do not buy it. and these are the people who i want to see in the role as defendant in a court of law.

Madeleine McCann: Suspect claims he has an alibi

May 2, 2022

The main suspect in the disappearance of Madelaine McCann says that he was having sex in his camper van with a woman at the time of the little girl's disappearance.

The German prosecutor told Sky News that the suspect 'Christian B' was yet to reveal any details of the alibi to them, as that there was nothing in the evidence currently gathered to exonerate him.

remember, we got again people speaking about the first investigation, and we got two choices, or they never have looked into someone other then the parents, or they started looking for a stranger first and only then after the parents.

shall we give them whose voice is of acceptable stance by the uk guidelines for solving a mccann case?

it is quite offending because those people with voices did never have taken a look in the pj files, it can not be they did. there are very many lines that have been under active investigation in the firsts months. it...is...all...in ...there!

but let's ask mark williams thomas a question, clearing the ground from under your feet, what would you have done walking in portuguese boots, if the very first statements of parents serves you a liar, would you be that guy, say bloody marvelous, you have nothing to hide, go as you want, or would you have thought hearing the statement of the other parents, wait a minute, what is happening here. that is not what i call clear ground.

and yes, from the pj files it becomes very clear, the portuguese did think, probably in portuguese some thing what the f..ck is happening here, and let's try to look in those people, but silently.

and they had to do it silently, first because that is the portuguese approach, and secondly, because the parents already got their version out in the press, an ambassador that was telling how portugal had to work around the mccanns, and third because there was a complete police force from the uk, without an invitation on the ground, before the portuguese got their second breakfast.

all those very wise british boots were actually just looking to stop looking in that clearing the ground before your feet, because even if the portuguese wanted, they keep finding soms brits in the way.

the biggest fans of this 'let's tell them how to do it' brigade, have to make their mind up, give me a very good narrative to first clear the ground from the parents, the tapas7 and the rest walking around them, and not loose the very important golden hours for finding a child abducted by a stranger, as served to us by jim gamble and graham hill.

to be honest, the portuguese did all of it at the same time, they looked for a misplaced child, that could have just wandered out, strangers, and the parents. all possible sightings get followed up. mwt plays good cop, the bad cop role from the former brigade is usually done by gamble and hill.

i get 15 years the same story, i must say it is always exactly the same, but all are telling nonsens. and they know it, because they were there.

so in case all 3 have a nice google alert on their names for the coming days. here you can find how this case really was investigated by the portuguese;

Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be - Page 27 Empty Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be

Sandra Felgeuiras has interviewed Hans Wolters and has asked him to confirm that DNA EVIDENCE matching Madeleine has been found in Brückners Campervan.

Wolters would not give out such important information, but did not deny it to Felgeuiras.

“I am certain Brueckner did it and the Portuguese police know he worked with an accomplice,” she told the Olive Press today.

Her SABADO Investigation on the CMTV channel managed to establish that the main evidence is a ‘trace of the English girl found by German police inside the motorhome he drove in 2007’.

Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters refused to confirm or deny this week that a DNA link had been discovered in the VW van.

But, he explained to Felgueiras – who has been investigating the case since May 2007 – that he could not confirm it ‘because the suspect has not yet been informed’.

The DNA link is ‘just one of several revelations’ set to be presented by Felgueiras’ show, recorded in Germany this week.

“It was him. He is guilty,” Felguieras added today. “The key point is that Wolters doesn’t deny it.”

Unbelievable, the German forensics find a DNA match to Madeleine in Brueckners van, (unconfirmed), yet 12 million pounds and 15 years down the line and not one clue found by Operation Grange.

Funny that isn't it.

Sounds a bit like the 1 hair found in the American lady's bed that got Brueckner convicted of her rape.

I can't believe that police forces in so called civilized countries have become so publicly and blatantly dishonest.
