Kate McCann: 'The twins know all about her disappearance and they want Maddie back'



Despite growing up without her, Kate, 47, said Amelie and Sean, now 11, still remember Maddie and talk about her often.

Since Maddie went missing in May 2007 from the family's holiday apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz, the couple have strived to keep their other children in the loop.


Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Kate explained: "The twins are doing really well.


"They’ve grown up essentially without Madeleine, knowing their sister is missing and they want her back.


"They are up to date, they know everything, they know if we are meeting police.


"There is nothing kept from them."

Yes you are both mourning the Death of your child, But that is your fault when ever my family and I went on holiday the children were with us or we paid for them to be looked after by a Babysitter & we are not Professional people like yourselves we are Working Class & that was at home or abroad but we seem to look after children which it seems you two have never done or this would never have happened,
I am sorry to say but Madeleine has gone, Just stand back & look what happened to Ben Needham this young man if he is alive must be in his Forty's that is if he is still alive & his parent wern't out drinking with friends.

Had you either gone to the expense of paying a babysitter or actually stayed in and looked after the three children yourself then those children and their memory of Maddy, then they would not have to "know what happened"!!! When they are older and come to the realisation you endangered them too , what will the reaction be ???

@Tony M  they paid for a baby watching service who walked round the complex listening in at doors, I wouldn't do this myself but it was something offered by the hotel and a lot of other parents were using it, what they did wrong was leave the patio doors open but even if they didn't the person would have probably been able to get in... what's the shame in this world is there are people out there in the world who want to steal your children

They Didn't actually pay for this service at all. If they did then it wasn't told or changed until later as they were supposed to go in shifts to keep eye on themselves. So that comment makes no sense.They also lied about things they saw that night which why the public are angry she's still moaning her kid is missing because dinner out was more important.

The McCanns are urging people to sign up to The Child Rescue Alert campaign

This week Kate launched a two week campaign in The Sun to get a million people to sign up to receive free text alerts when a child goes missing or is believed to be in imminent danger.

The Child Rescue Alert campaign encourages people to sign up by texting the word HERO and their postcode to 85080.

It is run by charity Missing People in partnership with the National Crime Agency and education technology company Groupcall.

So far more than 330,000 have pledged their support for the campaign.

Kate said: "I’m literally begging people to stop, take a minute and send a text. We WANT a million sign ups.

"If it turns out you are wrong it doesn’t matter, but if you are right it could save that child’s life."

I'm sure that people on this forum will recall the PR exercise which Kate McCann rolled out on the steps of the Lisbon Court regarding childcare when she somewhat angrily told reporters that Goncalo Amaral was using delay tactics and how she had to arrange child care to attend the court.

I'm sure that people on this forum will recall Kate McCann telling the Court in Lisbon that her son heard a radio programme on his school bus about Goncalo Amaral and questioned his mother.

I'm sure that people on this forum, this fine forum that's dedicated to finding out what happened to Madeleine McCann will find that comments about Kate's twins are deemed pretty low and stomped on.

I'm sure that people on this forum know the McCanns use their twins as and when it's useful.

I'm sure that people on this forum know the McCanns talked about their sex lives in a national newspaper.

I'm sure that people on this forum know that Gerry's blogs used the twins.

I'm sure that no-one wants to see the McCann twins brought into anything....unless you are Kate McCann that is and you are saying to a reporter that your twins are still fund raising for the Find Madeleine Fund.

I despair.

The McCanns are both Dr's. They have both had extensive training.
They are parents. You would think they had the knowledge to  be good parents.
Their parenting skills appall me.
They pushed the twins into the spotlight.
If my child had been abducted I would keep my other children so close and cosseted from the public.
They told the twins Madeleine had been taken by a bad man. What thoughts does that foster in a young child's mind?
And now they are mentioning the twins again....almost like they push them to the fore whilst they lurk behind.
I'm sure the latest developments have played a part...let's get the twins out again!

Well isn't that an interesting turn of phrase. When (in a nutshell) the story goes. 
All 3 of you were in bed. Somebody popped in like Mr Ben, nicked your sister and ignored you two, while me and your dad were bolting down our dinner and checking regularly making sure nobody nicked any of you in the evening.

Err okay mum, so err how did Houdini pull this trick off exactly?

Bizarre opinions below, never have been able to work out why people have it in for them so much. Somebody took their child and if that person wants a particular child badly enough they will find away to get what they want no matter how vigilant the parents are. Obviously the Mccanns made it a lot easier by leaving them unattended but technically every time your child is not directly in front of your eyes, they are unattended.
This situation is 99.9% the fault of whoever snatched her and 0.01 the McCanns. That 0.01 has unfortunately resulted in an unbearable sense of guilt on their part.

Have the twins been told why they slept solid throught all the commmotion, the crowds, helicopters, sirens, wailing, shouting & being moved to another room?

Have they been told why they were left alone and sleeping at the crime scene (in the unlocked  apartment) with an abductor on the loose,  whilst Kate broke the news of the "abduction"  to her friends?

Have they been told why they were left behind with friends and relatives whilst their parents went globetrotting?

Have they been told the answers to the 48 questions and also why their mother hindered the investigation?

It's just noise.  

They know Richard's film will be out there shortly.

Expect more of this offensive over the next few weeks.

The McC's have got a bit of a problem because if they take legal action they'll just draw even more attention to the film.

What a dilemma.

I actually don't believe a word of it, I think it's just another crass PR plug.  I venture to suggest it's impossible for the twins to remember Madeleine after nine years - for goodness sake, they were all but 2 years old when she disappeared, under-developed minds of such tender years would not possess that degree of recall.  If taken away from a parent/s themselves at that age, a child of that age would have no recollection of the parent/s unless stories, false or otherwise, is drummed into the tiny mind.

IF there be any truth in the alleged situation 'that the twins find themselves in' , I can only think it is the parents that are responsible which makes their actions even more wicked.

As an aside, I'm curious to know why this rubbish has been reported in New Zealand - or am I..

RDH isn't daft.  He'll base his film on recorded documentation, with no wild assumptions.  It'd be a tough job taking legal action against that.  In my opinion of course.

There is a fairly recent twitter feed in which one or even two people who knew of the McCanns spoke about how they were unaware of Madeleine's existence before she 'disappeared'. Even though they knew about the twins.

As far as I am concerned, this is one of the few genuine photos of Madeleine with the twins. There is nothing staged or odd about this photo in terms of its composition. It looks completely genuine.

What has always struck me about this (one genuine, imo) photo of Madeleine with her twin siblings is that Madeleine looks sad and I think scared as well.

If there had been dozens of other genuine-looking photos of Madeleine with her siblings then you could just write this off as a 'bad day' but those other photos don't exist, imo. 

I think she looks sad, scared and unhappy.

I think, if I may say so @ canada12, this sounds very much like 'wishful thinking' on your part - and is generally a highly improbable scenario.

It's well-established by science that most children do not have a clear recollection of any incident before they were 3.5 or so years old, unless they experienced an exceptionally traumatic event e.g. a bad accident to themselves or some other very dramatic event that imprints itself on their infant minds.      

The twins were just two years and two months when they went on holiday to Praia da Luz.

Undoubtedly the media sensation generated by the McCanns and their backing group will have caused the twins some significant difficulties, as happened for example when Sean (so we are told) was upset listening to a radio news broadcast, when he was on the school 'bus, which mentioned Goncalo Amaral's theories about what happened to their elder sister.

It is quite a burden for the twins to bear - having these constant reminders in the press and the TV about their sister's abduction.

What I think they may be more likely to remember from their infant years is Mummy and Daddy being away from them and being looked after by different carers whilst their parents were jet-setting to the Pope, Morocco, the U.S., Germany, Ireland, Holland, the European Union, Oprah Winfrey and Piers Morgan, etc. not to mention appearing on numerous TV shows, acting as ambassador for Missing People, promoting Amber Alert, campaigning for 'Hacked Off', appearing at Leveson, attending Richard Branson's '1,000th day' bash, being interviewed by the PJ, meetings with the private invesigators (see Peribanez book), meetings with Scotland Yard, Jim Gamble, the Home Secretary, doing innumerable marathons and bike rides for charity etc. - and Kate having 'me' time on several occasions with the Hubbards.         

The most likely response of the twins as they enter their teenage years will be to believe implicitly what their parents tell them about what really happened to Madeleine - and to distrust anyone who says different as 'liars' and 'haters'. All the same, assuming I'm right and if they do believe that Madeleine was abducted between 9.10pm and 10.00pm (as Scotland Yard now claim after they 'found' Crecheman), one day a rather shocking revelation might dawn on them and sink in:

"IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME THAT WAS TAKEN"

The twins want Madeleine back, says Kate.  Seriously?  Haven't she and Gerry been gently preparing them for the possibility that she will never return.  

I think I'll start a new topic featuring Kate's stupid utterances, "Kate-lying-in-the-Sun".

@ j.rob    It may be your opinion, but it's a rubbish opinion.

There are many genuine pictures which quite clearly show Madeleine and the twins together; moreover there are also videos - like the Christmas video - which very clearly show Madeleine at play with the twins.

Your opinion is baseless.

Moreover, on a great many of these Madeleine looks like a happy young child enjoying herself - well cared for and well turned out. You cannot tell from that one photograph alone whether Madeleine looks 'sad' or 'scared'. The existence of many photos of her looking happy suggests that she was basically a happy infant. Of course, every child has its sadder moments.

We have three photos of her, one with Sean, looking happy on Day One of her holiday in Portugal, 28 April 2007.

We have another one of her with Amelie on that holiday, the date of which has been questioned. She also looks very happy on that one.

The 'great photo mystery' is NOT of how few photos there are of Madeleine and the twins together - but how few there are of Madeleine and the twins on that holiday in Praia da Luz
