I see that he's been asked to provide proof that he has a letter from Robert Murat's solicitor asking for this money. That should be interesting to see.

Back to Stephen Birch [who does have issues IMO ...] on January 2 below. IMO this will not have him made many friends, yet rather show him for what he just very well may be: a Jack of all Trades with no real talents, but with tendency to ... blackmail ...
"The Flag on the left is Spain, the flag on the right is Portugal. Portugal has left the body of Madeleine McCann buried under the Murat driveway. Portugal closed the case on the missing little girl for 6 years. Which country will you be spending your holiday in and your hard earned pounds ? Its a matter of principle, make the right choice."

Yes, Chatelaine, there is rather more than a hint of menace about him, as in (a few weeks ago):
Tony remove my celphone off that forum. I am not the McCanns , by the time I am finished with you, you’ll be on the street corner, begging for money with a cap on the floor. You’ve been warned.
But then con-merchants tend to get very frustrated, angry and threatening when they are not believed...

It might be a good idea for C-D-M to give it front page headlines and ask their readers to contribute.

Well it is obvious he isn't Mr & Mrs. - he would have millions in the bank by now and wouldn't need to ask 50,000 people to give him £1.Tony Bennett wrote:Châtelaine wrote:Back to Stephen Birch [who does have issues IMO ...] on January 2 below. Thanks for that RD - I understand how things may have come across particularly as there are a lot of negative comments about Birch. But I think he has many positive traits (which are exaggerated) and hence come across as if he`s stupid. Mind you, this recent request for money sets me wondering if he`s being super-naive or whether someone has put him up to it (RM?).
He must be quite wealthy to have undertaken this project in the first place, and one wonders whether he made money from his company or whether he inherited money.

Now, can someone, please, help me and refresh my memory.
Long before Birch came into the news with his ground penetrating radar stuff et al, there were stories about him and IIRC a couple of "friends", who had - the 3 of them - privileged information about the McCann case and theories/proof ... Then he [Birch] conned them and run away with the "project" on his own ....
Sorry to be so vague. Even without my present fatigue, I wouldn't be able to be more coherent about this ...

There is certainly some kind of connection or contact between Danie Krugel and Stephen Birch, and, yes, I think they fell out over something, I did read that somewhere.
Here's a fascinating 6-minute clip of con-man Danie Krugel trying to fool everybody with another fake South African machine:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfkRFobzF38
It's just so obvious that there's something attached to the hairbrush, something metal or magnetic - making the dial move.
What seems truly extraordinary is how both Gerry McCann and the Portuguese Police appear to have taken this man seriously; there must be some rational explanation.
There is however one factual feature about this clip that requires analysis.
During the video, Krugel says he has Madeleine's hairbrush and plenty of strands of hair belonging to Madeleine and the twins. He says 'Gerry McCann gave them to me'.
So...
1. Was this hairbrush in Praia da Luz - or left behind in Rothley?
and
2. Why did Krugel need the twins' hairs?
There are con-men, more con-men and even more con-men (and hundreds of 'psychics', who are also con-men and con-women) all over this poor girl's disappearance

The PJ couldn't find any evidence of Maddie, nor a hairbrush nor toothbrush and they were there on the scene straight away. If such had existed, had they been rushed off upstairs to the Paynes possibly? If so, why?Tony Bennett wrote:No Fate Worse Than De'Ath wrote:Oh dear...

However, if you didn't want your 'abducted' child to be found because the 'fund' would dry up and you'd then have to fork out to pay your own mortgage and New Zealand white, wouldn't you give 'any old hair brush' with 'honest gov, it's kosher' lots of hair attached, knowing that

NO, FWTD, No. It was a COUPLE of friends and Birch. They had privileged information. He took it and run with it ... That's how I remember it. Nothing to do with the non-existing hair in a non-functioning device kind of thing ...

Meanwhile a dear friend directed me to what I've writing about before.
"A video showing Birch using a georadar machine, allegedly in Murat's garden at Casa Liliana, is now circulating on the web, including on YouTube. In the interview with Portuguese TV station, Expresso TV, he said: "Maddie died on May 3, 2007 and she was put into the ground that same day."
This comes as a heated row has erupted between Birch and two Cape Town private investigators amid allegations that all three are in the hunt for the sake of the R35 million reward.
Last week the Saturday Star reported claims by the property developer that he may have found the grave of missing Madeleine McCann less than 200m from the Praia da Luz resort in Portugal, using the radar scanning device. Now private investigators Martin van Wyk and his sister Bernice Manson have accused Birch of stealing their research and passing it off as his own.
But Birch didn't respond in detail saying he had been advised by his attorneys not to comment on the case further.'

Murat`s made enough money out of this case.
Actually, by Murat charging that amount of money it shows that he has nothing to hide and also shows up Birch.
I don't blame Murat in the slightest for charging him to do it. It has always been clear to me that Murat was just the patsy, so for all the grief that he has been put through by the Mccanns, he deserves some extra money. Moreover, by Birch paying him the money he also makes up for the hassle he has caused Murat.

Murat`s made enough money out of this case.
Does he?
He netted £600 grand for his first libel action, more than both of the McCanns put together.
Then he got some more from his second libel action, another £100,000, it was suggested.
He told a pack of lies when first questioned by police, having to make 17 separate and significant changes to his first statement, when questioned a second time by the PJ two months later. Why would an innocent man do that? And that was only after checks by the PJ on pings from his mobile 'phone to the local antennae found out his lies. His excuse for his lies was that he was 'too tired' to remember the truth.
About a missing 3-year-old girl!
He tried to influence the direction of the initial investigation and was observed by a police inspector to be noseying into various documents - so much so that the inspector had to challenge him about his behaviour and indeed made a special report, noting his concerns, to investigation co-ordinator Dr Goncalo Amaral.
Moreover, he has told us absolutely nothing about what business he discussed with his lawyer, Cheshire businessman Brian Kennedy and his lawyer, senior Freemason Edward Smethurst, at the meeting they all had in Portugal on 13 November 2007.
I can't for the life of me see why you are so warmly disposed towards him, loopzdaloop

Mad as a box of frogs, maybe, but this is his resume
Michael Shrimpton is a barrister, called to the Bar in 1983, and a specialist in National Security and Constitutional Law. He has wide ranging connections with Western Intelligence agencies and amongst ex-Soviet Bloc agencies. Michael has earned respect in the intelligence community for his analysis of previously unacknowledged post WWII covert operations against the West by the covert German DVD. He is an Emeritus Adjunct Professor of Intelligence Studies, Department of National Security, Intelligence and Space Studies, American Military University, where he taught intelligence subjects at Masters Degree level to inter alia serving intelligence officers. He has represented US and Israeli intelligence officers in law and has briefed staffers on the Senate select Committee on Intelligence and the Joint Congressional inquiry into 9-11, also addressing panels on terrorism in Washington DC and Los Angeles. His active assistance to Intelligence and Law Enforcement Agencies in the Global War on Terror has produced some notable success including the exposure of the Abu Graib “hood” photograph as a fake. His work in strategic intelligence has taken him to the Pentagon. He also met with senior advisors to the President of the Russian Federation in Moscow in November 2005. He participated in the Global Strategic Review conference in Geneva in 2005 and is a regular contributor at conferences such as Intelcon and the Intelligence Summit in Washington DC. He has been a member of Chatham House, RUSI, the International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Military Commentators Circle, which he has addressed. In November 2010 he took an 18 month sabbatical to write his major intelligence history of the DVD, Spyhunter, which is scheduled for publication in the United States in mid-November. He is a member of British Mensa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Michael_Shrimpton

Who knows ?
If we believe the body was moved multiple times, then looking at it from different angle, hypothetically speaking SB's theory may have a leg to stand on. Provided only if the body was moved there much later, post the police search, with the help of someone outside the group (and new driveway paved over the area) .
The cliche that the obvious place is often the safest may hold true.
More so, only if the alleged burial took place post police search.
The property having already been thoroughly swept over by Police dogs previously and nothing found could be regarded as super-safe. As it is generally believed a recurring search is highly unlikely. Not unless Police have suspicious ground for re-search.
Just a crazy passing thought even though I believe SB's theory is bunkum.
It's rather bizarre Murat did not threaten to sue him for spouting nonsense as the inference is bleeding obvious.
