The announcement by the Daily Mail that SY will be announcing something in a couple of weeks sounds suspect to me - who gave them that information I wonder?
It was only about a month or so ago that GM was saying that SY were going to announce something in a couple of weeks.
Sounds as if the info is coming from McCann camp.

Kate was intending to launch her book on April the 28th but she postponed it to May the 12th. The reason was Wi'lliam's wedding.
He brought luck to Madeleine: the Yard got involved in it.
Now the royal baby is expected for July the 11th, who knows it will bring luck again: Parents in custody.

Government lawyers have travelled to Portugal to meet police and prosecution officials to discuss new leads in the Madeleine McCann inquiry.
The trip is the first time that lawyers from the Crown Prosecution Service have visited Portugal in connection with Scotland Yard’s £5 million review of the case.
Home Secretary Theresa May is now expected to announce a full-scale Yard investigation into the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine in May 2007.
London’s chief crown prosecutor Alison Saunders and her deputy Jenny Hopkins flew to Portugal in April to meet counterparts to discuss leads identified in the Met’s review.
Last month the Standard revealed that detectives had identified a list of potential suspects. Detective Chief Superintendent Hamish Campbell, who supervised the review, said there were a “good number” of people who should be questioned as well as “further forensic opportunities”.
The list is thought to number around 20, including Britons. The potential suspects are thought to include a handful of known child-sex offenders who are believed to have been in the Algarve when Madeleine disappeared.
The visit by senior CPS lawyers underlines the belief among senior detectives that the case could be solved.
Portuguese police led the search for Madeleine after she went missing from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz while her parents dined nearby.
The investigation was shelved in 2008 but the Yard launched a Home Office-funded review in 2011 after David Cameron intervened at the request of Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann. The review team examined hundreds of thousands of documents from the Portuguese investigation and enquiries by a private detective agency employed by Madeleine’s family and identified 195 potential leads.
A full Yard investigation would allow police to interview suspects in Britain though they would seek the assistance of the Portuguese to carry out any enquiries there.
A CPS spokesman said: “We continue to work with the police on this case.”
A Home Office spokesman said it had agreed to “provide the Metropolitan Police with the resources they need”.

Re: Scotland Yard takes over the inquiry into Maddie's disappearance from Portuguese plus *UPDATE* CPS lawyers fly to Portugal
The CPS do not investigate anything
The CPS do not discuss leads
The CPS "review" the evidence presented to them by the Police (or other investigatory authorities) and decide on two things
1 Sufficiency of evidence, and the likelihood of a conviction
2 Whether it is in the public interest to prosecute.
Read the above with this in mind !

I'm still a bit doubtful though that the lord and lady of the manor would go along with that - or the naming of anyone else who is conveniently dead - as they could no longer continue with the "findable little girl" nonsense.

Interesting about the CPS, surely they do only get involved at the point where the police believe they have sufficient evidence to convict, not before? Or do they get involved to see what should be investigated?
If there were any arrests of TM for any reason, there is not need to rush, after all they are hardly likely to flee anywhere, or pose a danger to the public by remaining at large for a few more weeks. Ducks need to be neatly in rows before arresting slippery people.

Two questions: Aren't the Government Lawyers the CPS themselves?
And don't they only come into play at the END of an investigation after the report on the case is submitted?

Re: Scotland Yard takes over the inquiry into Maddie's disappearance from Portuguese plus *UPDATE* CPS lawyers fly to Portugal
Interesting that its London`s CHIEF Crown Prosecutor and her assistant as well. As all the CPS can do is decide whether there is enough evidence to get a conviction, I would have thought there is someone in mind and a case prepared. But why they have to go to Portugal to do this, is the question. So if there is someone in mind and a case prepared, why are they now saying that Teresa May is going to allow more money for SY to investigate? Surely the investigation is complete if the CPS have now been brought in?
Wondering as its the CHIEF Crown Prosecutor whether it is something far more complicated and involves many other areas.
I may be wrong, but I`m sure the CPS is purely there to decide whether a case is worth persuing - they will be deciding whether there is enough evidence to bring charges against a person or persons suggested.

Re: Scotland Yard takes over the inquiry into Maddie's disappearance from Portuguese plus *UPDATE* CPS lawyers fly to Portugal
So say the PJ say to the CPS 'we think the McCanns and their friends were involved in the disappearance of their daughter and their statements are contradictory and do not make sense, they lied about the shutters being jemmied, they refused to answer questions, and jeopardised the investigation into their daughters disappearance, and would not co-operate fully with us'
The Leicester Police say 'Assistant Chief Constable for Leicestershire police: “While one or both of the McCanns may be innocent there is no clear evidence that eliminates them from involvement in Madeleine's disappearance.”....
"we'd booked up and paid for the Tapas diner, in advance, for every night at 8:30pm"
"But we weren't sure we'd get in!" G&KM.
"which side of the road were you talking to Gerry, Mr Wilkins? refer to your sketch, if you like"!
Do the CPS just IGNORE all this?
There is absolutely NO proof that anyone, OTHER than the McCanns and their friends, were in or around Apartment 5A, all week.

Presumably the Crown Prosecution Service would only get involved when a case is ready for prosecution? And I assume any prosecution would be here in the UK, as they don't have jurisdiction in Portugal. Perhaps Petermac can clarify.
