That was very much irritating but Madeleine's case is worse.
I hope Theresa will go further than to tell that the Meting is doing an investigation.
Maybe she is waiting for the school holidays, in order to protect the twins, that they would not be confronted with comments. And probably to protect little children of the Tapas' for the same reason.:wow:thinking
When do the school holidays start in Rothley, does any of you know i?

That's a very good point you've made there, not one I would have ever of thought of.

I did a search and Rothley primary school summer holidays start 13th July and end on 28th August.  I don't know if that is the right school though, although all schools in one area seem to keep to the same holiday dates.

thank you!  July the 13th? in that case Mrs. May is waiting for Mrs. Fenn's resurection.

All I can say is that if the McCanns are found responsible for the disappearance of Madeleine they have opened a can of worms that affects everyone around them. In trying to protect their own backsides they've ruined and touched the lives of many, many people. Not just family, but friends, neighbours, work colleagues, the staff at the school Madeleine was supposed to start at, the Mark Warner staff, the residents of PDL, the list is endless.

A lawyer explained me today that if every police wait for children's holidays, suspects can be only arrested a couple of times per year.
Arresting suspects has nothing to do with their eventual children. A crime is a crime and the perpetrators have to be caught.
"There must be another reason why Mrs. May still didn't made her statement yet"  he said.

You are perfectly correct. I'm neither Admin nor a moderator. I'm a contributor to this forum. The only non-Blacksmith posts going on in this thread are between yourself and marconi. There is a current topic on the forum for your comments. Threads easily become derailed. I do hope you appreciate my concern.

It's very easy to get bored with the current topic, that's why people go off at another tangent, with no disrespect to the current topic, people get carried away with their ideas, thoughts etc.

No doubt admin would have rapped our knuckles when we'd gone too far. big grin

But of course what we're thinking is going on with CPS and SY may not be happening at all, so what we're actually speculating on could all be a waste of time, we will just have to wait and see.

ETA: My English teacher at school always drummed into us not to use the word "but", "and" and many other words to start a sentence but as she's probably long gone and won't know, I'm being naughty.  smilie

Newtown, it's perfectly acceptable to start a sentence with "and" or "but". Language evolves, and what wasn't acceptable in the past, now is.

Well, it it may be acceptable to some  but not others.  Education has been dumbed down to an unacceptable level.   When I read some of the comments on the DM website it is truly shocking; no punctuation, no capital letters, no new sentences, no paragraphs, it would be just reams and reams of sentences all blending into each other.  I retired some years ago but even then when we had applications for jobs the level of grammar and spelling was so poor you didn't get past the first few sentences of the letter before you rejected their application.

I was laughed at by some friends many years ago as I'd put a colon in the instructions I'd given them to get to my house from many miles away, but if it's drummed into you at school as it was to me, it's very hard to get out of the habit.

When I was reading a text book belonging to the son of my cousin, his spelling was really poor, I think this was in the early 1990s, but she said "oh, they don't pick up on spelling now, they don't like to upset the pupils if they can't spell!   I couldn't believe that, I was totally shocked.

ETA: I forgot to mention that I went to a Secondary Modern school in the 60s, not a Grammar School or a private school, as I failed the 11 plus due to family problems happening at that time, but I did have a very good education from the school I attended.

Without going into personal details about myself, all I will say is, I've taught at the highest level. I agree that back in the 1960s it was drummed into us never to use a conjunction to begin a sentence, but times have changed. However (even "however" is questionable to some) I totally agree with you in regards to bad grammar, and it's getting worse. Take this, for example:

"There is still a lot of resistance, particularly form those who are hardly more than half my age. I put this down to the tick-box nature of their training and the inability to grasp something different to their formalisms they have learnt.

I now use both "But" and "And" at the beginning of sentences in formal legal documents wherever it seems appropriate to the context and provided I believe that the meaning will be unambiguous.

I am one of those BrE lawyers who ARE [my emphasis] trying to bring the language of legal documents into the 21st century".

That was copied and pasted

And this is written by a so-called lawyer. What hope is there? flag

And at the beginning of a sentence indicates missing evidence.

But in a sentence negates or counters what was said previously.

No offense meant to anyone, "but" Hobs is NOT teaching proper English, "but" analysing the use of language. It's called "statement analysis", which is used in criminal analysis and more than occasionally very telling ...

The silence is deafening

IMO things will start happening soon

There is no way they would have released the info of investigation, then CPS visit, then a soon to be released statement unless they are ready. Probably triple checking everything before they move.

Whatever happens the PTB have to expect absolute silence from all concerned, and be in a position to move on even after "No Comment" interviews, and total lack of any cooperation.
Exactly like the PJ found, in fact.

If it is truly at the stage, then it's no win situation for the interviewees.

Talk and they can incriminate themselves.
Absolute silence and "no comments'" leaves a negative impression, indication of something to hide.

If they are allowed lawyers, chances are they will be advised to say absolutely nothing.

latest from Blacksmith re the world of PR:

Our reputation management and marine correspondent reports:
Rumours
Rumours have begun to circulate in the PR world that the wreckage of Clarence Mitchell's most important client has "suddenly shifted".
Experts, as well as UK media reports, had stated that that the flagship site was  "safe"  and "above board". But recent freelance marine surveys are said to confirm that, while no movement is visible on the surface, the structure is "beginning to buckle, crumble and fragment " below the waterline  with a "chilling sound of popping rivets".
There is also the possibility that unless state aid is provided to stabilise the now empty shell it could "slip irrecoverably into deep water".
A strange and superstitious community
There are other problems. Many of the somewhat primitive  natives  have formed a strong, almost religious, attachment  to Mr Mitchell's clients. They  were thrown  into panic last week by reports  that rats were seen swimming away from the doomed hulk; the local shrines that had been spontaneously set up by these simple people were the scene of agitated gatherings that, according to witnesses, were "loud with lamentation",  "shrieks of unfocused anger" and a "disturbing hunt for scapegoats" in attempts to ward off  threats to the now useless hulk.
Well loved
There is a great deal of sympathy for Mr Mitchell among his many  two friends, one of whom is the irrepressible Max Clifford. Despite his fame his career began with an air crash at Kegworth and is likely to end with a shipwreck. Friend who know him say he is much misjudged. They  describe him as a "good sniffer" of news items who is essentially "shy unless cornered", though they admit that he is "only a whisker away" from being hated. A workaholic, he rarely has time even for meals when he is busy, contenting himself  with "constant nibbling". He's a good swimmer.
Hardly a squeak has been heard from Mr Mitchell about recent events.
More marine news as we get it.

Is Blacksmith talking about the fund here?
Who is Mitchell's most important "client"? If he's referring to the McCann's, AND wouldn't BS say "clients"?

"flagship site was  "safe"  and "above board". Again, is BS referring to the fund being above board?

And the need for "state aid"? Something about having to pay back if..........(fill in the gaps)
"There are other problems. Many of the somewhat primitive  natives  have formed a strong, almost religious, attachment  to Mr Mitchell's clients"
"Primitive natives......religious attachment?  Look at the directors of all the companies Brian Nelson Kennedy has an interest in. ALL PRIESTS OR FATHERS ETC, and look at the ages of these people.

I took it that he was talking about it generally and in the first part he was just saying there maybe is no activity publicly but in private team McCann is imploding and unless there is government interference they couldn't be saved

The second part I thought was the reaction of their ardent followers who insist on their innocence and believe in them

The third part IMO was CM is a rat deserting a sinking ship and would likely get out of it

But I might be completely wrong

IMO the cover up has become a bigger problem than the reason for the original Government interference (of which I have no idea why)whether it be by a connection, a VIP who shouldn't have been there, or a meeting they didn't want publicised

I think part of the reason why SY are controlling the case is to control the information that comes out in any subsequent trial

The McCanns had to be stopped but I think damage limitation is also a priority

yes, I agree. My interpretation of BS post is purely my opinion, and nothing more. I may be totally wrong, but based on my research into the Fund and the connections to it by the different directors I may be putting two and two together and making five, but time will tell!
