During the check with the cadaver dogs, a second cuddlecat was found and there were stories there were up to 5.
IIRC only the one hidden under the kitchensink had the cadaver smell.

Re: A few oddities
Tony posted this on another thread about there being 40 cuddlecats
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Don't forget the 40 Cuddle Cats handed out to the (allegedly) 40 detectives employed by Metodo 3 tocome up with false 'sightings' of Madeleinesearch for Madeleine McCann.
Here's a paragraph from our forthcoming in-depth article on 'Brian Kennedy and Madeleine McCann':
QUOTE
On 28 November the Daily Mail reported that Método 3 “has had between 30 and 35 detectives working on the case in Britain, France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco since September”, while on 25 January 2008 the same paper inflated that number to ‘‘40 investigators working on the case in Spain and Portugal". The fact that investigators were being employed in Portugal was contrary to Portuguese law, which I understand prohibits private investigations running alongside any official investigation. Clarence Mitchell claimed that the new head of the Portuguese Police investigation, Alipio Ribeiro, ‘is turning a blind eye to the activities of Método 3’. The later Mail report made the fascinating claim that each of Método 3’s 40 investigators had been given a replica of the McCanns’ pink soft toy, ‘Cuddle Cat’, which, the Mail said, the investigators ‘were encouraged to squeeze every time they felt demotivated at the size of their task’.

This is what I fail to understand. After Madeleine disappeared, cuddlecat was left on her bed, so why issue 40 of them to the detectives?

40 pink blankets would have been more appropriate.

A cartload of Cuddlecats
As with many media stories, the genuine ones can be as daft as the hoaxes and it's hard to tell the difference. I think that, as this story involves the "heroic" efforts of Metodo 3 to find Madeleine, there is very unlikely to be any truth whatsoever in the 40 Cuddlecats story.

I would sincerely hope that the Mail were being totally sarcastic with this comment!!

The sacred Cuddlecats
Yes I really hope that the remark in the Mail wasn't meant to be taken seriously but, as I said before, how do you know the difference - particularly with anything involving the McCanns - between a wind up and something that the writer intends to be taken as being true?

Biggest mistake.
ROSA wrote:Having a ready supply of pre-printed photographs of Madeleine ready for the police as soon as they arrived on the night of 3rd MayWithin just two hours of Madeleine’s ‘disappearance’, if not even earlier, the McCanns had a ready supply of posters featuring Madeleine’s face. The McCanns claimed that they had produced them on the spot, using their digital camera, and by getting access to a printing machine at the Ocean Club. But police enquiries at the club did not find any printer that could have produced those particular types of photo posters. This led to the Portuguese police to strongly suspect that they had been pre-prepared earlier in the day, somewhere away from the premises.
I think that was their biggest mistake, because not only did that photograph have to be printed, the coloboma had to be photoshopped in! The eyelashes were enhanced, the nose made smaller. Adobe photoshop is not available in internet cafes. So, where was this done? Apart from the fact that a photograph of your child taken some 18 months earlier is strange to have with you on holiday.
There seems to have been a total lack of laptops, never mentioned. Too risky with police investigation? Would take too long to delete items?
Whichever way you cut it, it's premeditation and not by a few hours either.
The photoshopping of the 'last photo' was presumably done in the UK, since it didn't surface until G had made his first trip back home.
So my idea is that the artist is in the UK and the iconic poster photo was also done in the UK. Some are done rather badly, such as the Everton T shirt where her face is pasted on. The pool has part of Amelie's arm missing, Gerry is floating in the air and Maddie looks about 3.
Breakfast
I am sure this has been mentioned before, I just noticed it now. There are 6 different statements from Millennium staff verifying that the McCann's had breakfast there every morning. Complete denial in Kate's book and T9 interviews. Surely the PJ's must have found this very strange. Why lie about breakfast? Stunning.

Re: A few oddities
Really odd molly.
the Millenium wasn't near in the context of three small children and no buggy. Kate said they used the Millenium for dinner the first night and it wasn't convenient for that reason, hence they wanted to have dinner subsequently at the nearer tapas bar.
Why they would have breakfast at the Millenium every day I cant understand. So I believe Kate in this instance.
I Cant understand why Kate would lie about this.
Nor can I understand why the staff would provide inaccurate information.
The breakfast would have been the same in either place presumably, so the logical thing is to go to the nearer venue.

Good find Molly, I had never read these before. Just quickly searching found this....................
The families set into a regular routine. The McCanns had breakfast in their apartment as they found it difficult getting the little ones up and dressed and then taken to the resort’s Millennium restaurant, especially as the twins were only just mastering walking

And without going through the taps statement this is from google................

Volume I, pages 34 - 41
Witness statement of Gerald Patrick McCann, on the 4th of May 2007, at 11.15 a.m.
Location: CID Portimão
Concerning routines, he mentions that on Sunday, they had breakfast, between 7.30 and 8.30am at the Ocean Club, namely in the resort’s bar a few metres away from the apartment. On the following days, because the war was rather distant, they started buying food at the supermarket, located on the same road as the apartment, whose name he cannot recall

Volume I, pages 58 - 65
Witness statement of Kate Marie Healy, on the 4th of May 2007, at 2.20 p.m.
Location: CID Portimão
As far as the routines are concerned, the witness refers that on Sunday they went for breakfast at around 7.30/8.30 at the Ocean Club, namely at the resort’s bar which is located at some metres’ distance from the apartment. On the following days, and because the bar was quite far away, they started buying food at the “BATISTA” supermarket, which is located on the same road as the apartment, and they had their first meal of the day at the apartment.

The far side of PdL?
I wonder if this is to strengthen the fable that they didn't know PdL at all. The first day they did all go to the Millenium I believe. But I've once seem a post somewhere where someone had drawn circles on the Oc site and PdL to show that the McCanns were very keen to let people know they didn't know and and hadn't been anywhere near the rest of the town. Where the church is, where Chaplins' bar is and where the block of flats is that Amaral had an interest in.
Whatever the reason, it seems we need to know that they didn't even know where the church was (next to Chaplins where allegedly staff from OC came to tell them one of their children was crying).
The Millenium staff, like the staff from the Paraiso? on the 3rd May, may well have been mistaken and mixed them up with other parents and children. The twins are dressed differently to each other and there were quite a number of children on that holiday altogether.
As for there being no buggy, they were using one all the time later in the holiday, I believe MW had these available.
In the book, Kate makes much of the Millenium thing, saying how hard it was to have to carry the twins all the way. According to that post, she mentions all sorts of places actually much further away from the apartments.
So that the area where Gerry was seen by the Smiths, the church, Chaplins and the apartment blocks near the church are seen to be foreign territory for them, according to her information.
It may just be that.
Anyway, I'll see if I can find it, it is some months ago.

I would love to have a chat with one of those PJ's. They must have found this discrepancy very interesting.

Molly and Candyfloss...Can I pay you a big compliment and just say that the way you so quickly find the quotes and the sources etc are just absolutely brilliant. I remember many things, but to source I have to think back sometimes which can take me a while & some head scratching (even have to open a bottle of new zealand wine at times to help me, 1972 heritage btw), but you two are always there instantly and with the relevant information from different sources.....Amazing. That's very true. It takes a lot of reading to find the relevant piece. Especially so when it's a Tapas statement I sometimes lose the will to live No wine for me, I make do with a cup of tea and a bag of crisps
