They are back peddling.  They know that their attempt to frame a patsy is never going to work.

Will it be a case of:

Madeleine died in Portugal, therefore the investigation must lay solely with the Portuguese police and is out of our hands as we do not have jurisdiction in Portugal?

BTW.  This elite German police force is under investigation at the moment  in the Wirecard scandal.

This Germanman story has been running for nigh on twelve months, it was rubbish when it started and it's rubbish now.  Every report is but a reiteration of the initial story with a bit of poetic licence to maintain interest.  Plenty of additions and deletions, new information, new witnesses, new evidence but the bog basic story remains the same - a German man behind bars is the prime suspect in the case of missing Madeleine McCann.  Thus negating the painstaking investigation conducted by the Portuguese police and all the evidence and intelligence documented.

Not forgetting the alleged German liaison with the Metropolitan police, who are evidently at variance with the detail!  Still no matter, Herr Flick is confident we/he/they will solve the case.

The collective media cannot be relied upon to report truth, or even anything resembling truth, they are propagandist in the purest form - yet people still believe what they read!  I guess it's easier than bothering to think for yourself.

Having said that, the comments published are not a true depiction of public opinion.  They are the usual suspects McCann Critics v. McCann Supporters, which side takes precedence on any one report depends on the desired persuasion.

The negative branch allowed, usually relate to the time and money spent on one individual missing child case - a non controversial touch, the rest are destined for the troll/nutter cardboard box - to be used later I don't doubt.

Good insurance should the case of missing Madeleine McCann ever be presented before a criminal law court.

Perhaps these people think they are being helpful but alas not so.  Many occasions, seeing the same names cropping up, the information critics post is inaccurate and/or spiteful.  Just perfect for the team McCann campaign - the long term agenda.

When they said in the early days they were in it for the long haul, they weren't kidding were they.

Well here's NEWS for you .... so are we  yes !

So here we go again, another repetition with juggled and jumbled words to make it appear original..

MISSING PIECE Madeleine McCann cops’ key ‘new evidence’ revealed to be suspect’s phone records that may show his movements in Portugal

EXCLUSIVE

Tariq Tahir
16 May 2021, 19:44Updated: 16 May 2021, 19:50

MADELEINE McCann cops' key new evidence has been revealed to be phone records that may show Christian B’s movements in Portugal.

The 44-year-old German, who is a convicted rapist and paedophile, has been identified by police as being the prime suspect responsible for the abduction of Madeleine.

She was three when she vanished from the Algarve holiday apartment she was staying at with parents Kate and Gerry in 2007.

It recently emerged German cops have new leads on Christian B.

The Sun Online now understands this relates to phone records that could throw fresh light on his movements around Praia Da Luz at the time Maddie went missing.

“For a long time German officers have said many key pieces of the jigsaw were missing about Christian B‘s movements in the Algarve,” a source said.

“This new information may help provide one of those pieces.”

German police believe Madeleine was allegedly killed in Portugal and not taken to Germany by Christian B, it emerged today.

There were fears he had allegedly moved the toddler to his home country after taking her from Praia da Luz.

Christian B’s lawyer Friedrich Fulscher had said his client “denies any involvement” in the McCann case.

Detectives from Germany, Portugal and the UK probing Christian B are due to meet within weeks to discuss the case.

British officers will hope to use it to secure more cash to extend Operation Grange and a source said “the heat is really on right now” for them.

It was reported today that they have asked for more cash on top of the than £12.5million they’ve already had from taxpayers.

The Home Office is expected to agree to £350,000 over six months.

“They need new leads to ensure as much extra funding is made available as possible in the hunt for Maddie. This summit is shaping up to be a potential lifeline.”

Her parents Kate and Gerry have also raised £773,629 if the money ever dries up.

It comes after the couple said "we're never going to give up" as they paid tribute to their daughter on her 18th birthday on May 12.

German officers hope to use the meeting to heal “strained” relations with Portuguese counterparts.

“This summit will be key. German officers will lay out everything they have on Christian B,” said the source.

“They will appeal to their colleagues for their help in nailing him. It is no secret that relations between the German and Portuguese teams haven’t been great.

“The feeling among Portuguese officers is that Christian B isn’t the man who took Maddie.

“And they’ve long been concerned about some of the public statements the Germans have made. But it is time to put that to one side for the sake of Maddie.”

It recently emerged German cops have new leads on Christian B.

The Sun Online now understands this relates to phone records that could throw fresh light on his movements around Praia Da Luz at the time Maddie went missing.

The Sun has previously reported that Brückners phone was logged in to the Mast at the Ocean club resort. They have no Mast. Even if they did, it would be impossible to reproduce his movements accurately.

Propaganda and pure misinformation.

But why does the BKA  or Herr Wolters allow this at all?

Phone records from Madeleine McCann suspect ‘might reveal movements in Portugal’

Lucy MiddletonMonday 17 May 2021 10:16 am

German police have uncovered phone records which may show Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner’s movements in Portugal, it was reported.

Brueckner, 44, who is a convicted rapist and paedophile, was identified by officers as their prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine in 2020. Madeleine was just three when she vanished from an Algarve holiday apartment in 2007. Earlier this month, German detectives told how they had discovered new evidence to support their investigation. This is now understood to relate to Brueckner’s phone records from around Praia Da Luz, The Sun Online reports. A source claimed: ‘For a long time German officers have said many key pieces of the jigsaw were missing about Christian B‘s movements in the Algarve. This new information may help provide one of those pieces.’

Most of the evidence gathered against Brueckner so far is circumstantial in nature and is not enough to bring a murder charge against him. Brueckner’s lawyer Friedrich Fulscher has said his client denies any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine. He is currently serving seven years for raping a 72-year-old American woman in the Algarve in 2005.

It comes just days after a prosecutor said he was adamant Madeleine, who would have turned 18 last week, died in Portugal. When asked where he believes she was killed, Hans Christian Wolters told the Mirror Online: ‘In Portugal. I am optimistic we will solve this case.’ Detectives from Germany, Portugal and the UK are due to meet within weeks to discuss the ongoing investigation. British forces are hoping to extend Operation Grange, and have asked for more money towards the inquiry, on top of the £12.5million already spent by taxpayers, it was reported today. Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann have raised more than £770,000 if funding towards finding their daughter is ever cut.

I have reason to believe that by 2016 police forces had the technology to tell immediately when they were leaving one cellphone area and entering another.  That clip was under 5 seconds, so it leaves a lot of possibilities.

Turning to Verdi's post above, it is clear that Lucy Middleton hasn't got a clue about what phone traffic was captured in 2007 and what wasn't.

But now prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters says officers believe Maddie, who would now be 18, died in Portugal.
That is very different, and putting a totally neutral slant on things.

Yes I must admit I raised an eyebrow the other day when I saw the headline about Maddie having died in Portugal.  Is it too much to hope that things are turning in a satisfactory - albeit slowly - way?

Dream on! The coverage has been fabrication from beginning till now.

Over the past fourteen years, as you know, the media (mainstream and social) have been drip feeding false information. It started with great éclat but has slowly but surely dwindled over the years, culminating in a somewhat pathetic attempt by the lowest of low tabloid presence to keep up the pretense indefinitely.

How long before they do the proverbial Oozlum remains to be seen but don't hold your breath!

Tomorrow is another day, thank goodness it never comes.

Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner could face 'triple trial' over sex offences

EXCLUSIVE: Convicted paedophile Christian Brueckner is being investigated over the rape of an Irish woman on the Algarve, a sex assault on a 10-year-old girl on a beach in Portugal and the abuse of four children at a festival

ByAndy LinesRob Hyde

The prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann disappearance could face a “triple trial” on all the sexual offences he is being investigated over.

Convicted paedophile Christian Brueckner was named last year as the man police think abducted her from her family’s holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.

Officers are also investigating his alleged involvement in three other cases.

Prosecutors have now revealed they are considering a trial covering all three of these sex crimes.

Chief prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said: “If there is sufficient suspicion in several cases, it must be examined whether a joint indictment would be appropriate.”

The first of the three offences is the rape of a woman in Praia da Rocha on the Algarve in Portugal in 2004.

Any trial would be in the German city of Braunschweig where the inquiry is centred and where Brueckner used to run a kiosk.

Authorities in Germany said last week they believe Madeleine was killed in Portugal shortly after being abducted in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz.

Prosecutors say phone records place Brueckner in the town at the time the British girl went missing.

It has previously been speculated she could have been taken to Germany.

Madeleine disappeared aged three while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry McCann, from Rothley, Leics.

The family, who cling to hope that she is still alive, marked the missing girl’s 18th birthday last week

German national Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year jail sentence in his homeland for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005.

When asked about the latest potential legal development, his lawyer declined to comment.

Brueckner, who has protested his innocence in the Madeleine case, has been in solitary confinement to protect him from attacks by other prisoners.

The accusations

Brueckner is being investigated over the rape of Irish woman Hazel Behan in an apartment on the Algarve in 2004.

The second case is a sex assault on a 10-year-old girl on a beach in Portugal in 2007.

The third is the abuse of four children at a festival in São Bartolomeu de Messines in 2017.

So no charge over Madeleine then?

If CB is guilty of raping 72 yr old, a sex assault on a 10 year old and abuse of 4 other children, why would he need protection only because he he is a suspect in the McCann case? Are inmates selective? Are they more likely to attack over Madeleine than they are over these other children?

My very thoughts! Why name Madeleine McCann in this ridiculous pretense.

That aside, I think the court proceedings might get a bit confused when presented with three entirely separate incidents spanning many years, especially when only based on suspicion as opposed to hard evidence.

If the German authorities can present a case before a court of law without conclusive evidence, then where does that leave justice? The German renowned adherence to the good of mankind and industrialism, taking a baseless prosecution against a national through the courts on hearsay?

Where will it all end ....

eyebrows

A minor point .... the mockuplenty coverage of all things Herr Christian Wolters shows sub-titles for his spoken words, a strong indication that he doesn't speak Ingleesh and yet, the media coverage reports direct speech with any one tabloid source. Wolters told The Sun?

Funny that innit.

That aside, I quote .... 'if there is sufficient suspicion in several cases'

If? So there ain't.

I'm interested to see where the past year is leading - a blind alley I strongly suspect but how will it be concluded . i don\'t know .

FACING JUSTICE Madeleine McCann suspect Christian B could face ‘triple trial’ over string of sex attacks on woman and five children

MADELEINE McCann prime suspect Christian B could face a "triple trial" over a string of sex attacks he is being investigated for.

The 44-year-old German, who is a convicted rapist and paedophile, has been identified by police as the prime suspect responsible for the abduction of Madeleine.

Police officers are investigating Christian B's alleged involvement in three other cases.

Prosecutors have revealed they are now considering covering all three sex crimes in the one trial, the Mirror reports.

Chief prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told the outlet: “If there is sufficient suspicion in several cases, it must be examined whether a joint indictment would be appropriate.”

The first of the three offences is the rape of Irish woman Hazel Behan in Praia da Rocha on the Algarve in 2004.

The second offence is over the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in Portugal in 2007 and the third involves the abuse of four children at a festival in São Bartolomeu de Messines in 2017.

The trial would take place in the German city of Braunschweig where the inquiry is centred and where Christian B used to work.

On Monday, cops working on the Madeleine McCann case said that new key evidence was revealed to be the suspect's phone records, which may show his movements in Portugal.

“For a long time German officers have said many key pieces of the jigsaw were missing about Christian B's movements in the Algarve,” a source said.

“This new information may help provide one of those pieces.”

German police believe Madeleine was killed in Portugal and not taken to Germany by Christian B, it emerged on Monday.

German police searched Christian B's former home in Hanover last July, but Mr Wolters said he wasn't living at the home at the time Madeleine disappeared.

Christian B was identified as the prime suspect in Madeleine's disappearance last June.

He is serving a seven-year sentence in prison for raping a 72-year-old American woman in the Algarve in 2005.

It comes as Madeleine's parents Gerry, 52, and Kate, 53, said they would "never give up" hope of finding their daughter.

The couple paid tribute to their daughter on what would have been her 18th birthday.

They wrote: "Happy 18th birthday Madeleine. We love you and we’re waiting for you and we’re never going to give up."

It certainly seems a legal possibility that several separate Offences could be tried in one Process, as all Crimes are of a Sexual nature.

Next to come will be the Story of the German National just arrested in Paraguay who was the head of a Child porn ring. They are linking the Data to Brückner as he allegedly used the Site. They will keep stacking up as much circumstantial evidence as possible in the hope it will tip the Scales of Justice in their favour.

Apart from COVID-19, the case of missing Madeleine Mccann must rank amongst the biggest scams that ever hit planet earth. It really does make you wonder why it's been kept afloat all these years, not the disappearance itself but media coverage and all the circus that surrounds it.

It's strange to me that the McCanns haven't done something positive to put an end to the speculation and theorising, I can only think it's to their advantage. There can be no other explanation - surely? Granted they can't stop social media without legal grounds (beware folk!) but they could take action against mainstream media - at least make their grievances widely known. You know, like they allegedly objected to the Netflix documentary that more or less supported their position, their claimed innocence.

The more discerning observer will note how the case detail, the PJ files, have been artfully used to build the fantastical explosion of paedophila links propagated by the media over the years. Every story published by the media is interwoven with detail from the PJ files, documented convicted child sex offenders, media reports and of course not forgetting, the McCanns themselves.

Brueckner is not a revelation, he is not a new suspect, he is not responsible for the disappearance of Madeleine Mccann - he is just another name to use to keep the paedophile angle alive and kicking. The wider agenda is not clever but it is cunning. Again like the COVID-19 scam, the wheel keeps on turning despite all the evidence against it, a classic case of repeating often enough until people believe, or get bored and go away! Kate McCann has been operating in this way for fourteen years - to this day she repeats the whooshing curtain story, even though there is no evidence to support her version of events. But it does have the desired effect - people are talking about Brueckner as they did Hewlett as they did the other German convicted child molester.

Brueckner is not even serving a prison sentence for child abuse, he raped an elderly woman - allegedly.

Christian 'he who can't be named' Brueckner is not worthy of any interest as regards the case of missing Madeleine McCann. Even if the German authorities lock him up for life, still he has no connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

It's all documented in the PJ files. The Metropolitan Police, aka Operation Grange, can only work on the evidence. Clearly they have nothing new, otherwise the case wouldn't be stagnating in the broom cupboard along with the remaining four officers said to be 'working on the case'.

I don't believe Operation Grange continue to work on the case, in my view it's in name only. I doubt they are liaising with Germany any more than Germany is working with the Portuguese. The three territories are at variance as regards the case (and other reasons I believe), I find it difficult to reconcile with the idea of a 'spring/summer/autumn 2021 crisis summit'

A report from way back, when the Brueckner story first hit the headlines..

Madeleine McCann suspect 'carried out sex attacks on British kids'

Police believe Christian Brueckner carried out a string of sex attacks on British youngsters in the Algarve before Madeleine McCann disappeared.

ByAndy Lines

04:30, 15 JUN 2020

Police believe Christian Brueckner carried out a string of sex attacks on British youngsters in the Algarve before Madeleine McCann disappeared.

And they hope crucial DNA evidence languishing in a Portuguese laboratory could link the German pervert to the vile crimes.

They include an attack on a 10-year-old girl who was assaulted by an intruder who broke into her parents’ apartment in Praia da Luz in 2005.

At that time Brueckner, a convicted paedophile, was living in a ramshackle farmhouse on the outskirts of the Portuguese resort.

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said the attack - first revealed by Scotland Yard six years ago - “forms part of our investigations”.

The victim, who is now in her mid-20s, came forward in March 2014 following a Met Police appeal.

She told how a tanned, white man speaking English with a foreign accent attacked her in Praia da Luz.

It was one of a dozen attacks or near misses on young Britons in the Algarve linked to the same serial child abuser between 2004 and 2010.

In each incident the attacker crept into the property and sat on the child’s bed or tried to get under the sheets before fleeing.

Police said in a number of cases the attacker was disturbed by the child’s horrified parents.

Nine of the sexual assaults on children aged between six and 12 took place early in the morning.

There were three near misses and six incidents where the intruder was disturbed before anything happened.

Three incidents took place in Praia de Luz, five in Carvoeiro and nine in Praia de Gale, Vale de Parra, and Sao Rafeal.

Five of the incidents, including some sex attacks, were reported to local police at the time but not passed on to British cops.

The suspect in the Algarve attacks was described as a tanned man who spoke English slowly, with a foreign accent and possibly slurred speech.

Scotland Yard also said in 2014 that he had unkempt hair, was unshaven, and smelt of stale aftershave.

Det Chief Insp Andy Redwood, then head of Operation Grange, said at the time that it was a crucial new lead.

“We have got one crime which is very clearly in the heart of Praia da Luz in 2005, on a young, white, 10-year-old girl,” he said.

“The fact we’ve now got an assault that is in the heart of Praia da Luz means we are even more interested in this as part of the inquiry.

“This offence takes us into the resort so it is very significant.

“All these incidents pre-date the disappearance of Madeleine and I am extremely positive. They give us a real, clear focus going forward.

“For every single one, this has been a horrendous experience. This is your worst nightmare.”

He also revealed hopes that DNA evidence from the attacks and break-ins being held a Portuguese lab could be unearthed to crack the case.

“There could be forensic material sitting in exhibit stores somewhere that we and the PJ are unaware of,” said DCI Redwood.

Sources say German authorities are linking Brueckner to the other sexual assaults on British girls between 2004 and 2006.

He was dating a British barmaid around this time and driving a black Jaguar and mustard-coloured Volkswagen estate.

Brueckner has already been convicted of carrying out a sex attack on a pensioner in Praia da Luz in 2005 after breaking into her luxury villa.

The 43-year-old, who abused kids as a teen in Germany, received a seven-year jail term last year, which he is appealing.

A former head of Portugal’s National Forensic Medicine Institute said evidence collected from the McCanns’ apartment could still prove vital.

More than 600 samples including hair and saliva were taken from apartment 5A after Madeleine’s disappearance.

Duarte Nuno Vieira said all the samples remain under lock and key at a lab in the northern city of Coimbra.

It is not known if Bruckner’s DNA has been cross-checked with the evidence found in the McCann apartment.

Mr Vieira said: “The samples are still being kept in optimum conditions.

“Despite the fact 13 years have gone by, it’s still possible today to repeat tests.

“Things don’t happen as fast as they do on TV series like CSI and can take days, weeks or even months to complete.

“But in terms of quality, Portugal has some of the highest quality forensic work of any country.

“In the Maddie case the forensic work done was quick and competent.

“The fact 13 years has gone by doesn’t mean the hundreds of samples collected can’t be revisited again.

“There was hair, blood and saliva samples among the enormous amount of material that was collected and analysed.

“The results of everything that was tested in 2007 are available.

“If there was a new DNA profile with someone whose DNA had to be compared with one or more of those samples, that could be done.

“The identification of people responsible for crimes can sometimes take decades. DNA can be preserved for decades.”

In another fresh development prosecutors are increasingly convinced a resort employee helped Brueckner target the McCanns’ apartment.

The tipster allegedly knew her parents Kate and Gerry McCann had gone out to a nearby restaurant with friends known as the ‘Tapas 7’.

Mr Wolters suspects an employee made a phone call to tip off Brueckner that the family’s apartment was free to burgle.

He believes the worker is the owner of the mobile phone used to call Brueckner for 30 minutes between 7.32pm and 8.02pm on May 3, 2007.

Madeleine, then aged three, vanished between 9.05pm and 10pm the same night and has not been seen since.

Mr Wolters said: “We are investigating if an Ocean Club employee helped the suspect on the night Madeleine disappeared. This is of interest to us.

“The phone call made by the suspect could be between him and a staff member who told him when to break into the McCanns’ apartment.”

There is no evidence the employee, who police have not identified, knew about Madeleine’s kidnap in advance.

Kate McCann revealed in her 2011 book ‘Madeleine’ how the group’s reservation plans were accidentally available for all to see.

A staff register at the Ocean Club was left open on the desk at the swimming pool reception.

It detailed their request for a block booking in the tapas restaurant because they were leaving their young children alone.

What a cocktail - or perhaps more a punch bowl!

Even the unproven story about the Tapas restaurant booking has been woven-in to give a potential burglar and/or abductor the proverbial window of opportunity.

It's so blatant.

I wonder who the mastermind is - I bet we'd be surprised!

onphone Hi, It's me. McCann has just left the apartment but he is outside chatting to someone. One of their friends is in the street too and a load of other people. The apartment is empty but they're checking every 15 minutes. McCann has been out there for 10 minutes now and the next one is due in 5. You'll have to be super quick and be careful not to be seen. You've got about 4 minutes if your quick.

BTW, why don't you burgle all the apartments when the kids are in the creche and the parents are out and about for longer?

Why would Christian B remove a child from the Flat and leave the Passports and Pills and Camera for which he could earn something extra?

Police smash vile global paedophile gang which 'may have links to Madeleine McCann'

EXCLUSIVE: Special forces in Paraguay say they think a top figure in a sick network of paedophiles was in contact with Christian Brueckner - the chief suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann

German citizen, Christian Kruse, 58, pictured, has been arrested by Paraguayan police

Police have smashed a global paedophile network which they believe might have links to Madeleine McCann.

A special force chief in Paraguay revealed details of how perverts in a vile network for sharing child sex abuse images were arrested.

Officers in the South American country say they think a top figure in the gang was in contact with Christian Brueckner, named chief suspect in Madeleine’s abduction.

Commissioner Nimio Cardozo, of the Paraguay police anti-kidnap section, said: “There are elements, we believe, whereby our security agencies could contribute to clarifying the Madeleine case.

“We are continuing work on trying to help resolve it.

“For us the case is emblematic, as the world’s police and security services have not been able to provide this missing little girl’s parents with the answers they want.”

His team has passed on its findings to prosecutors in Brueckner’s native Germany.

The Paraguayan police arrested the senior gang member, German national Christian Kruse, 58, at his shabby riverbank hideaway in Belen on April 12.

He was charged with child abuse offences and is now in custody awaiting trial.

Officers seized computers and data, which they are now analysing.

The Mirror reported this month how the sick “Boystown” paedophile platform – one of the world’s biggest, with more than 400,000 members – had been taken down by German investigators.

Kruse was one of four men detained in an international effort.

Mr Cardozo said: “This was one of the world’s biggest operations against paedophilia.

“In Belen we arrested one of the most prolific administrators of paedophile websites.

"He was wanted by several European countries, as well as the United States.

“We made our arrest at night and in Germany several suspects were detained.

“Forensic analysis of computers in Paraguay and Germany led to the identification of more than 5,000 connected IP addresses that were exchanging paedophile videos and photos.

“We haven’t ruled out the possibility that among all that big data there could be important information for the Madeleine case.”

Mr Cardozo said he is liaising with various authorities in Paraguay about how to proceed.

He has already held meetings with the nation’s head prosecutor Irma Llano but insisted any further statements on the Madeleine connection can only come from German officials

There was a reported sighting of the British youngster in Paraguay during 2016 but a police investigation found no trace of her there.

Madeleine, three, disappeared from a flat in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on May 3, 2007, while on holiday with parents Kate and Gerry and has been missing ever since.

Investigator on hi-tech methods that could be used to find Maddie McCann

It’s been more than 14 years since Maddie McCann disappeared from her family’s holiday home but a cop said new evidence may finally end the search.

MAY 20, 20219:25AM

The mysterious disappearance of Madeleine McCann is continuing with a former police officer shedding new light on the case.

Three-year-old Maddie vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007.

She had been left sleeping alone with her younger twin siblings while her parents were dining in a nearby tapas restaurant with friends.

Her grieving parents celebrated what would’ve been her 18th birthday last week.

Christian Brueckner, the prime suspect behind her disappearance, remains in jail for drug offences, and is appealing a seven-year sentence for raping a 73-year-old woman in the same town Maddie disappeared.

Mike Neville, a former police chief investigator who worked on the McCann case for years, said a recent announcement from German police may finally the family some closure.

But, Mr Neville added, some developments were getting lost in translation.

“We can only hope she is still alive, but I think there is a real confusion about the phrase of the Germans used, concrete evidence,” he told Sunrise.

“In Britain and probably Australia, that means there is absolutely top drawer evidence, fingerprints, DNA, CCTV and alike.

“In Germany, however, it generally means it is something tangible, not just a rumour.

“In Britain you would charge someone with concrete evidence, but in Germany, you may not even arrest them. I do think we got the wrong end of the stick sometimes with this difference in translation.”

Mr Neville said investigators were waiting to hear exactly what “concrete” evidence German police had uncovered — with reports suggesting Brueckner’s phone records linked him to the area at the time Maddie disappeared.

“It possibly is (the phone records), but as I say, even if they do have phone records to link him to the area at that time, it still won’t be sufficient evidence to charge with and ... we really need to get to the bottom of this and find out what happened to this poor little girl,” he said.

“We can only hope she is alive somewhere and we can reunite her with her parents.”

Mr Neville said the investigation route of interviewing old witnesses should be dropped and police should use hi-tech methods to try and find Maddie.

“I don’t think the key is looking into witnesses who didn’t see much 14 years ago and know even less now,” he said.

“It’s very hard to exist in this world today without an image of you, so you might want to be on Facebook but you get caught in the background of another image.”

Mr Neville, who now runs a private investigation company, said he had been working with “human super-recognisers — people who never forget faces” to help make breakthroughs on cases.

“I’ve also got the world’s first conviction for using pattern technology,” he said.

“If you look at Madeleine, she’s got a very distinctive line in the right eye, in the iris.

“There’s only about 70 people in a million that have that, and when you take into account sex and age it’s even less.

“So as far as a computer is concerned, that is a pattern. You could find it using a computer, if she was on the internet.

“She was also wearing distinctive pyjamas when she was kidnapped. These wicked paedophiles who make videos and stuff, they are on high-quality videotape. That would present another opportunity where we can find stuff.

“I think we need to start using images to try crack this case. That is how we would find out if she is alive today and if things were done to her.”

When questioned if these techniques were something investigators had already used, Mr Neville said it was likely police hadn’t adopted such hi-tech methods yet.

“The police are very good at things like DNA or fingerprints but when it comes images, we are still behind in the world,” he said.

“If you look at the Australian police, they’re very much like the British police.

“There will be a national DNA and finger print database, but not an national image database.

“This is a way that we could try and track and super-recognisers, humans, they would recognise you before you are famous.

“So I believe using this combination of technology and the best humans, I suggest is the best way to find this girl.”

Maddie’s parents last week said they “hang on to hope, however small” that they will be reunited with their “lovely” daughter one day.

“This year it is particularly poignant as we should be celebrating Madeleine’s 18th birthday,” her parents Gerry and Kate wrote.

“As we have said repeatedly, we need to know what has happened to our lovely daughter, no matter what.

“We are very grateful to the police for their continued efforts. We hang on to the hope, however small, that we will see Madeleine again.”

The don't give a fig - with such an enormous information machine as the media, it matters not what the people think. To smash that highway of information fed everyday with breakfast, lunch and dinner, would be like an ant planting his flag of victory at the top of Everest.

Unless of course said ant hitched a ride on the back of a passing migrant bird, or climbed into Sherpa Tenzing's backpack when he wasn't looking.

Now I'm waffling.

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".
