Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
German police investigating Christian Bruckner are hoping to find DNA on a piece of cloth.
Where did this cloth suddenly come from?
How have the Germans got hold of it?
Why is there a suspicion that there will be DNA on it?
How old is it?
Will the DNA be contaminated after all this time?

Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
My summary of the situation:
1. German & Portuguese authorities do not wish for this individual to be released.
2. Both have some vague evidence of his proximity to Praia da Luz during the relevant period of the 'disappearance'.
3. Also some anecdotal evidence of him mentioning Madeline in vague and approximate terms, which tbh sounds like someone trying to big themselves up at best.
4. The MM 'disappearance' has over the years attracted an almost insane and completely disproportionate level of publicity.
5. Publicity leads to witnesses coming forward.
Add 4 and 5 then, hey bingo enough evidence to keep someone in prison. None of which has much or anything to do with the MM 'disappearance'.

Cock 'n Bull story.
The piece of cloth (violet/mauve colour) was from the bed cover of the spare bed (the one below the broken shutter, the open window and the whooshing curtain) in the bedroom shared by Madeleine and the twins. A minuscule stain first thought to be semen but after further forensic testing by the PJ forensic team, appeared to be saliva.
It was later sent to the UK's Forensic Science Service for further analysis. The result I believe was not connected in any way with the DNA reference samples taken from those tested at the time. Off the top of my head, the sample was later determined to be most likely the saliva of a previous apartment occupant, a young. boy - but don't quote me. The sample was too small and weak to provide any meaningful result but in all probability was saliva.
Customarily, forensic laboratories destroy samples that contain bodily fluids unless specifically asked to retain. I can't recall whether there is evidence of the piece of cloth being returned to the PJ forensic laboratories.
I don't feel inclined to check the detail, not for the sake of yet another rubbish press article.
As you say, how the hell did the German police get hold of it, or wind of it. The latest news report suggests Germany, Portugal and the UK are conjointly working flat out - I doubt that very much.
The Portuguese were seriously vilified by the UK media and authorities. The latest conundrum - the Portuguese will not do anything to assist Germany unless they are told to.
What do they expect to find - the German prisoners DNA on the piece of cloth? Pull the other one. Still, it's a convenient distraction from the prime suspects.
One thing I can say without fear of contradiction - Germany and German suspects have featured prominently in this web of intrigue. Including the McCanns curious public relations appearance in Berlin during the summer of 2007 during their European road show.
Why in the name of all that's saintly would they choose Germany? Did they think the abductor/child trafficker was migrating northwards. What if his/her satnav was on the blink and they were traveling east - worse still west!

II's all a load of rollox - another attempt to bash Portugal and exonerate the prime suspects.

Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
I've struggled with this one.Mainline wrote:Regarding the German police's comments.
With your expertise, what kind of evidence assuming you were in their employ would possibly validate the statement "All indication we have got that I can't tell you points in the direction that Madeleine is dead."?
The BKA obviously know about the dogs' 17 alerts to places associated with the McCanns, and to no other places, which are when taken together a clear indiction that Madeleine is dead, and that she died in 5A on or before 3/5/7
It is in public domain already, and he can tell us, because the world already knows.
So it can't be that.
If he had a photo or a body or remains, then he would have shared that with Grange and the PJ, and Grange would not still be trotting out "no evidence that she is dead"
So he doesn't.
If he had a DNA sample, then that does not in fact tell us that she is dead. Only that a minuscule amount of her DNA is missing.
So it is not that.
If has has evidence from a third party, then they and the PJ would be following up the lead and checking the location with some urgency
And they aren't. So he doesn't.
Which may lead us to suspect a "partial confession'. "I killed her and destroyed the body in such a way that you will never find a trace. And that is all I am ever going to say on the subject"
Which is suspiciously similar to what Kate did at her official interview as arguido
So the short answer is – I don't know.
He may be involved in a ham-fisted attempt to 'flush out' some other witness, but if so it is a bit of a blunt instrument to use.

From Natasha Donn at the Portugal Resident
“Maddie is dead”, say German police, “but we need evidence”
By Natasha Donn - 10th June 2020
In another crazy week of revelations, the Algarve has found itself back in the media spotlight over the 13-year-old mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann. Everything suggests police will be returning in force to dig in and around properties in the Praia da Luz area.
Out of the blue last Wednesday, a ‘suspect’ who had been considered and discounted by both Portuguese and English detectives in the past was suddenly ‘almost certainly the man’ who abducted the angel-faced child on May 3, 2007.
German police are convinced he killed her; British police are hedging their bets.
Career criminal Christian Brueckner was 30 years old at the time. He already had a string of offences to his name, some involving sex crimes against small children.
He had also raped and tortured a 72-year-old pensioner, again in Praia da Luz, battered various girlfriends, dealt drugs, amassed a horde of child pornography and written about very dubious sexual fantasies on paedophile chat rooms.
Currently in jail in Germany, Brueckner is credited with having told someone in a bar in 2017 that ‘he knew all about what happened to Madeleine McCann’.
That morphed into what is now a full-blown hunt for the ‘smoking gun’: ‘evidence’ in other words that Brueckner had something to do with Madeleine’s disappearance.
German police appear to have given focus to what has often seemed like a shambolic investigation going round in circles.
Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters has told Sky News that “after all the information we got, the girl is dead”.
Investigators have “some evidence” that Brueckner “has done the deed” but not enough to charge him or indeed go to court.
“That’s why we need more information from people, especially places he has lived so we can target these places especially and search there for Madeleine,” he said.
Properties identified already include the house of an English couple in Monte Judeu, and a property 2kms outside Luz.
The police appeal highlighted two vehicles Brueckner used while in Portugal, a Portuguese-registered VW camper van and a German-registered Jaguar XJ6.
Hundreds of people are described as having ‘responded’ to the appeal for information splashed all over the press last week – but, this Wednesday, journalists in Portugal were already stressing that Brueckner is not the only active lead in the investigation that returns to the headlines almost every year at the beginning of the summer.
And television commentators have been quick to question the solidity of the case being constructed around him.
Certainly he sounds despicable, but after reports started linking him to other child disappearances, both here and in Germany, pundits threw their hands up in exasperation.
“It’s the same every year,” crime commentator Hernâni Carvalho said on popular chat show ‘Cristina’, suggesting the current media circus will lead to nothing “as have all the others”.
“He’s a pedophile with a criminal record who was in Praia da Luz when the child went missing. So what? There were lots of them around then…” he said.
Two aspects of the media’s ‘feeding frenzy’ have received scant attention.
One is that the funding of ‘Operation Grange’ – the British led police investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance, which has already spent well over £11 million – has run dry. Scotland Yard is waiting to hear whether a new request for more money will be granted.
The other is that a source for Madeleine’s parents has told The Telegraph newspaper that if a suspect is charged over their daughter’s abduction then they will be ‘renewing their legal battle’ with former PJ police chief Gonçalo Amaral who wrote the damning book Maddie: the Truth of the Lie, which suggested Madeleine died accidentally in her family’s holiday apartment, and that parents Kate and Gerry ‘covered it up’.
Amaral has said in the past that he believes the British Secret Service has helped deflect attentions in this case – and he predicted last year that a German pedophile serving time in jail would be used as a “scapegoat” to conclude the Madeleine investigation “once and for all”.
At the time, ‘revelations’ were centering on jailed child serial killer Martin Ney. But Amaral was clear, there was another pedophile in the frame.
For now, the bottom line is that police “need help from the people, from British tourists that might have been in Praia da Luz between 1995 (when Brueckner first arrived) and 2007 (when he returned for a spell to Germany)”.
Says prosecutor Wolters: “Only with these calls can we solve the case of Madeleine McCann.”
British woman living in Lagos is one of Brueckner’s former girlfriends
A British woman currently living in Lagos is said to be one of a string of girlfriends abused by Brueckner in the years where he lived in the Algarve.
The woman, originally from Berkshire – now a mother of two children – is described as ‘very nervous’.
She is worried, says Correio da Manhã, that Brueckner may be released from jail and come looking for her.
Police have apparently already been in touch for further information on the man she dated back in 2004 when she lived in Praia da Luz.
The woman, described as ‘working in a bar’, appears to have had a Portuguese husband. The couple are now estranged.
Could Joana Cipriano have been killed by Brueckner? And little René Hasse?
These are questions brought up by the UK press which claim police are looking back at old cases and trying to check if any of them can be linked to Brueckner.
Joana Cipriano went missing from her home in Figueira, near Portimão, in 2004. Her mother and uncle were both found guilty of her murder, although a body was never found.
Six-year-old René Hasse went missing ‘from one minute to the next’ on a beach near Aljezur back in 1996.
His footprints “stopped in the sand”, his grandmother has explained. Theories at the time were that the child had been swept away by a freak wave. His body too has never been found.

I've spoken to Natasha about this one. She lives close to that beach as it happens, and has given me some details
I then went back to basics, assumed nothing and did some research
What do we KNOW

on the Amoreira Beach, Aljezur, 6pm, on 19th June 1996 having left the restaurant Paraiso (ring any bells?)
at the north end of a small beach, with rocks either end, and a river pouring out at the southern end.
Easy to locate on Google earth Pro or Google maps.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
So far so obvious,
wind was from bearing 270º, a westerly, around 25kph, 15 mph, "Beaufort Force 4, Moderate breeze" at that time.More importently it had been a westerly for a week. The significance of that is that due west there is a 'fetch of 5,500 k to the US, and 1,500 k to the Azores.
In plain terms the tiniest waves will build up and amalgamate into larger swells which become surf when they reach the shore.
There were therefore waves. Probably quite decent ones.
Also the waves beating in to what is in fact a cove, bring water which had to go somewhere. The phenomenon of the "rip' is well known by anyone who loves swimming int he open sea, and is used by surfers and divers to get out into deeper water without too much effort. You can actually see two on the little picture above.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
High tide ( and this is the Atlantic, because contrary to the Official McCann wisdom Portugal does not have a Mediterranean coast,). was 1730. Half past 5
The tide had turned, and was beginning to retreat.
Two things now happen.
The waves find themselves being pushed by the wind in one direction, but pulled by the tide in the opposite direction. They get even higher.
Secondly, the tide which had been holding back the water in the river, now 'releases' it. Locals play in the river at incoming tide and are swept upstream into a small lagoon which has formed as a natural reservoir.
So the river is now beginning to flow at Twice the expected rate, and the effect of that in the rip at the southern end will be more pronounced.
Wave periodicity has been studied across the world in detail. There is the folk-lore that every 7th wave is a bigger one that those either side. Whilst not strictly always accurate this effect may be seen on any beach. What is undoubted it that on all beaches from time to time a "really big wave' appears, apparently from nowhere – in fact the amalgamation of the energy of several swells which have developed at different times, are moving at different rates, and have been 'overtaken' by one moving very slightly faster.
When we know that we have a fetch of 3,500 miles, and that the wind had been blowing from the same quarter for nearly a week, it is not difficult to image a small boy, taking off and dropping on the sand his clothes to paddle or swim, running towards the retreating waves, only to be pummelled flat by one such so-called "freak" wave. The pressure and shock causes him to exhale and he then inhales water and drowns very quickly. He is then sucked out a small distance only to be pounded again by the next. A human body floats with only a small part of the back showing, if at all. The rip current then takes him out of any field of vision, and the rip from the river does the rest. By the time a helicopter can be summoned he has sunk.
The wave in question rushes up the beach, erasing his footprints, but not reaching the small pile of clothes.
The photo shows this effect fully, with the dark sand having been wetted, but the waves stopping short of it.
He has vanished. Swallowed up by the Ocean
Which is the conclusion the PJ came to, since they had even more access to contemporaneous weather, tidal, and shipping reports that I have attempted to access.
I think they were right.

EXCLUSIVE: Portuguese police 'NEVER interviewed Madeleine McCann prime suspect Christian Brueckner because they did not know he was a convicted sex offender' in the weeks after her disappearance
Christian Brueckner's past in Germany was not known to detectives searching for Maddie after she disappeared from the Praia da Luz resort in 2007
While all sex offenders in the Algarve region came under suspicion and were interviewed, 43-year-old Brueckner was not among them
His name was included in a file sent to UK police in 2011 because he was a foreigner who had been jailed and not because he was linked to a sex crime

Okay, so for just a moment let's presume the PJ to be the bungling force of Keystone cops the UK like to suggest.
Where does that place the private dicks hired by the Find Madeleine Fund Co Ltd to 'search' for the missing child? Metodo3, Oakley International and Alphaig Limited (very) .... did they have this latest suspect on their radar? Did they interview him? Collectively, this group of super-sleuths revealed a number of sightings, suspects and strange happenings - all at the expense of public donations paid into The Fund.
Does that make them bungling Keystone cops also? Will the McCanns be taking them through law courts for 'harming the search'?
Nah, I didn't think so. They didn't even try to reclaim £300k/£500k from Oakley International for obtaining money under false pretences - before the death of Halligan!

Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
So where were the parents of Rene, or his carer, or his nanny when he went "missing". If he was "abducted" by this fiend (scapegoat) in Germany why were his footprints not on the beach only the footprints of Rene? Am I missing something? Would a child of six bother to take their clothes off and put them in a pile if they were going into the sea to swim, I doubt it. Something very fishy going on here, just like the McCann saga.
Is this another case of parents blaming everyone else, not themselves. That sounds familiar to me.
Sorry if this has all been mentioned before but I just wanted to comment after Petermac's findings.

Not forgetting that the McCanns paid £500,000 to Bell Pottinger to keep them on the front pages of the newspapers for a year. It wasn't their money, it was given to them by the public to search out where Madeleine may be by "so called" specialist agents, not for them to have their love life or "faux candle remembrances" on Madeleine's birthday plastered all over the front pages. It seems money is no object when it's someone else's yet they couldn't fork out £10 an hour for a babysitter in PdL.

Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
I think they don't have much evidence at all. German police made the huge error of warning Bruckner he was being investigated, so any evidence could have been destroyed.
That was back in 2013 and you would presume any DNA from the scene has been retested in that time. The cars have allegedly been searched too. In my opinion, German Police's appeal was a desperate attempt to try and rectify their error. There's a tiny chance they get something from the appeal but they have also revealed the sheer flimsiness of their evidence.

And we now know that Grange had Christian B on their list of suspects in 2012/13
They were handed the list by the PJ
So are they also Bungling Cops. just waiting to be sued ?
It hardly matters, since it is nonsense anyway.
There was no abduction, ergo there was no Abductor

It will be interesting to see if the Mccann's try and get their hands on the evidence through their lawyer. I would think not as in German law Bruckner has not been charged, so no way can they be entitled to the file before then. That's if I understand it correctly.

I wonder if the McCanns will sue the German police for daring to suggest that Madeleine may not entirely be of this world.

It's getting sillier by the day..
Madeleine McCann suspect told he was on German police radar in 2013
Mistake raises questions over whether Christian Brückner had time to dispose of evidence
Criminal investigators in Germany notified Christian Brückner as early as 2013 that he was on their radar in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, raising questions over whether they inadvertently allowed the suspect to dispose of evidence.
According to a report in the German news weekly Der Spiegel, Brückner received a letter from police in Braunschweig on 4 November 2013, inviting him to be interviewed as a witness in the “missing person case Madeleine McCann”.
Braunschweig police had sent the letter after noticing Brückner’s history of sexual offences following a routine request by the German Federal Office for Criminal Investigation.
Police officers cited by Der Spiegel describe the letter as a mistake, saying such a high-profile case would have required investigators to gather more evidence before approaching a suspect. “This should not have happened and in no way complies with common procedure in such a delicate case,” said one anonymous officer.
Federal investigators in Germany had received a tipoff linking Brückner to the 2007 disappearance of Madeleine McCann following a TV appearance by her parents on 16 October 2013, reported Der Spiegel. A former colleague had recognised Brückner on the basis of a photofit of a man spotted near the site where Madeleine went missing. The informant said the suspect had run a swimming pool service close to the Cala d’Or holiday resort.
Madeleine went missing from her family’s holiday apartment on 3 May 2007, a few days before her fourth birthday, as her parents dined with friends at a nearby tapas bar.
Her disappearance sparked one of the biggest searches of its kind in recent years.

That word again .... Search .... what search? The only force that genuinely searched for Madeleine McCann and tried against all odds to solve the crime, was the PJ. What did they get for their trouble - doing the job assigned to do? Why of course, the case co-ordinator, Snr Amaral, was dragged through the law courts by the parents of the missing child and now the same couple are attempting to take the country of Portugal to the ECHR.

Yes, he would strip of his outer clothes, which he had been wearing over his trunks, but would then drop in them in the appointed 6 yr old manner in a small heap before running down to the sea.
Again my guess is he arrived at the water's edge just as the sea was drawing back for the big one, so went further out than he would otherwise have done. Even a couple of feet would make all the difference between getting wet and losing your balance and sitting in the froth, and being totally flattened as the big wave broke right on top of him.
I don't know, obviously, but the available evidence supports the PJ's conclusion

If I was cynical ( which I am), I may be lead to believe SY had something to do with pushing German police to interview the suspect.
Yet another foreign police force can be blamed now for destroying evidence whilst Bruckner ( with his horrible record of rape and violence) will forever be associated with the case, even if dropped as a suspect.

Peter, but aren't they saying that Rene was supposed to have been taken by this fiend in Germany, so if he was where are the footprints of this guy in the sand walking towards Rene to pick him up and take him to wherever he took him unless he walked along the sea shore and his footprints were washed away but he still must have had to walk through the sand to get to Rene. Again where were his family when they were supposed to be looking after him and he walked away from them without anyone noticing. Who was in charge of him? It all seems like they are clutching at straws, as with the McCanns. Give the people any BS and they'll believe it. Surely a young boy would be seen on a beach alone walking towards the water and didn't come out again unless the beach was deserted, it all seems again like BS. Well we know it is, but I just thought I would point it out for the hard of thinking.

I've just read your post again Peter. "Mother and new partner", oh dear and Grandmother was following on behind little Rene, oh dear again. It doesn't add up like many mixed families, especially with a "new partner" and someone else's child.
Grandma didn't do a good job when following Rene down to the beach so what is her excuse?
All BS as I said earlier. Trying to pin the blame on someone who had nothing to do with any of these "crimes".

Kate and Gerry McCann have demanded evidence that proves their eldest child is dead
Kate and Gerry McCann faced fresh torment last night as a German prosecutor did a U-turn and conceded missing daughter Madeleine may still be alive.
Only last week they had been told police were certain she was dead.
The new admission by Hans Wolters came as questions began to mount about Germany’s handling of the case.
In an exclusive interview, Mr Wolters confirmed that there is no forensic evidence to show Maddie is dead.
And despite previously saying he believes suspect Christian Bruckner killed her quickly, he said: “It was only personal opinion and speculation.”
A friend of the McCanns slammed him last night, saying: “You shouldn’t say it if you don’t know for a fact.
“They said from the outset they’re treating it as a murder investigation. They shouldn’t have been saying that unless they were damn sure.”
Madeleine vanished in Praia da Luz in May 2007, days before her fourth birthday, while on holiday with her parents and twin siblings Sean and Amelie.
After being told about Mr Wolters admitting it is possible she is still alive, family spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “The McCanns have only ever wanted to know what happened.
“Without that knowledge they will never find peace and they are still relying on the police to establish the facts around this particular lead.”
Mr Wolters, a state prosecutor in Braunschweig, said: “Because there is no forensic evidence there may be a little bit of hope.
“We don’t want to kill the hope and because there is no forensic evidence it may be possible. I am surprised the fact we say or I say Madeleine is dead is so important for the British people. In Germany it’s more normal we investigate a murder in such a case, so it’s not so important. It’s more normal.”
Asked about saying Madeleine was killed quickly, he said: “That was private opinion and speculation... without facts. I said ‘I believe’ because in cases where children were kidnapped, they made a sexual crime then killed.’”
Mr Wolters’ comments came as the McCanns’ Portuguese lawyer, Rogerio Alves, blasted German authorities for refusing to say what evidence they had to suggest Maddie is dead.
He said: “They need to know what’s going on. It’s a question of legality but also humanity. Of course they want to know. It’s cruel.” He added that Wolters’ earlier claims about Madeleine being dead took the McCanns, of Rothley, Leics, by surprise, saying: “It was a shock for them.”
German authorities are under fire after it emerged Bruckner, 43, was tipped off that he may be a suspect in 2013. Bungling cops wrote to the convicted sex beast to ask if he could come in to be interviewed about Madeleine.
Mr Wolters admitted cops have still not spoken to Bruckner, who is serving a seven-year term in Kiel over a drugs rap – as they do not want to give him the chance to influence witnesses. And he vowed the beast, who a parole board could free within days, will not be back on the streets.
Mr Wolters said: “We don’t try to speak because it’s not the right time. We don’t believe he will say he did it, so we have to tell him all our evidences.
“Then it’s a possibility he can speak with witnesses and say, ‘Tell the police it’s not true.’ We think we have 90 per cent evidence. If he knows what this is, he can try to change his story.
“There is another arrest warrant for raping an older woman from authorities here in Braunschweig. If the court in Kiel says he can leave jail, he will be arrested.”
Mr Wolters says there is “strong evidence” that Bruckner was behind Madeleine’s disappearance – but not enough to charge him with.
He said: “I have been a prosecutor 17 years and don’t think I will work on another case as big as this. It’s important we will solve the case.
“He has been the only suspect since the beginning.”
Meanwhile, a cop in Portugal claims Germany did not say Bruckner was a convicted paedophile and had they known, he would have been quizzed within days of Madeleine’s abduction. Details were not shared as he committed the crimes as a minor, aged 17.
A police source told paper Expresso: “Nearly all Portuguese nationals and foreigners on the Algarve with sex convictions were questioned. Although Bruckner arrived from Germany in 1996 after a child sex conviction, he wasn’t on that list.”
“They said from the outset they’re treating it as a murder investigation. They shouldn’t have been saying that unless they were damn sure.”

GERMAN cops investigating prime suspect Christian B are desperately searching for letters he may have written that mention Madeleine McCann.
German officers have spoken to ex-girlfriends to ask them for any notes the convicted sex offender has ever sent them.
It comes as we can reveal German investigators have “nothing new” on Christian B, 43 and fear their trail may be running cold.
Sources have said they hoped their publicity blitz - which saw Christian B identified as prime suspect in the three-year-old’s disappearance - would throw up a “golden nugget” which has not materialised.
German investigators believe letters sent from behind bars and during his “hippy” life travelling around the Algarve and flitting between Portugal and Germany, could hold vital clues.
And a source said: “The picture emerging of Christian B is of a deeply vain and self-obsessed individual.
“Officers know he has bragged in the past about the crimes he has committed to ex-partners.
"In many cases he has also used it as a way to threaten some of them into silence.
“Detectives think Christian B had many, many lovers during his time living on the Algarve.
“Some were holidaymakers and ex-pats who were always travelling in and out of the area.
“He kept in touch with many of them by letter and has also continued to send love-notes while he’s been locked up.
'IMPORTANT INFORMATION'
“The police believe these letters could contain really important information that will throw up new leads for them in their investigation.”
Christian B – born in Bavaria, southern Germany – spent 12 years on the Algarve between 1995 and 2007. He then flitted between the country and Germany.
He is known to have had a string of girlfriends, including a British woman who said he broke into her studio flat and lay in wait for her and attacked her for hugging another man.
German detectives have interviewed Kosovan Nakscije Miftari, 25, who was in a relationship with violent Christian B in Germany when she was 17 and he was 37.
Last week one of his former lovers, a British woman, told The Sun he said he had a “horrible job to do in Praia” the day before Madeleine vanished.
And phone records place him in Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007 – the night Madeleine disappeared – and police have seized his Jaguar car and VW campervan.
The fiend, who has sex offence convictions against girls and women, was extradited from Portugal to Germany in 2017 on drugs offences which he is in jail for.
He was convicted last year for the rape and torture on a 72-year-old American woman – and is known to have kept videos of that attack and others.
German police fear he could soon be paroled from prison.
Christian B – who has refused to co-operate with German Police investigating him over Madeleine - is appealing the rape conviction.
'REVENGE'
Meanwhile the Sun on Sunday also understands that prosecutors may be looking at moving Christian B from the prison in Kiel, northern Germany where he is held.
It emerged this week he was being given counselling and placed in isolation in the prison.
But our source said: "Since news emerged of his links to the case he has become more of a target to his fellow in-mates.
Many are convinced he killed Madeleine and want the notoriety of being the person to exact revenge.
“That is why they are considering moving him as the measures taken may not be enough to keep Christian B safe."
German Police began probing him in 2017 after a witness told them he had bragged of ‘snatching’ Madeleine in a bar as they watched 10th-anniversary news reports about her disappearance.

Re: The latest McCann suspect: Scotland Yard has revealed vital new information about a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
They may be desperate for two reasons.
1. They fear there may be concrete evidence of Madeleine's death, which means of Madeline's remains, which means that an real investigation can begin.
(We remember that the cause of death of Ötzi the Ice man in the pass between Austria and Italy was eventually determined through painstaking forensic examinations - some 5,500 years after his death in the mid-Copper age)
So that must be very worrying.
@. They fear that there may be concrete evidence of Madeleine's death which leads to a time, manner and place of death being determined.
That must be extremely worrying, for a dozen or more reasons
If in doubt ATTACK.
And that is what we will now see.
