Madeleine McCann cops missing vital detail over German paedo suspect
MADELEINE McCann cops are ignoring a vital detail in their probe of a paedophile suspect, an ex-detective has told Daily Star Online.

German Martin Ney, 48, is serving life behind bars in his home country for murdering three youngsters over a 20-year period.
He emerged as a key suspect in the case this month, and cops believe he was in Portugal when Maddie went missing.
Ney is said to resemble a photo-fit of a man said to have been seen with a child in his arms after Madeleine went missing in 2007.
German police said he was only interested in young boys after he was first identified in 2011.
But Jim Gamble – the UK’s former top child protection officer – believes investigators may be misjudging his character.
The ex-cop – heavily involved in the initial search for Maddie – told Daily Star Online: “The German is a preferential offender (i.e., boys) and it’s unusual for someone with a specific preference to go the other way.
“That said, some offenders focus on age and not gender.”
If true, Ney could have targeted Maddie and potentially abducted her.
He has admitted visiting Portugal, but claims it was years before Maddie vanished.
The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said of the suspect: “It might be him. He fits the profile.
“He is a known predatory paedophile and he’s a foreigner. He wore camouflage gear, carried knives and jumped out of bushes to pounce on victims.
“It is quite possible and plausible police are looking at him again.”
Former youth worker Ney was convicted of three child killings in 2011 and jailed for 27 years in 2012.
He murdered Stefan Jahrd, 13, Dennis Rostel, eight, and Dennis Kleinfrom, nine, between 1992 and 2001.
The twisted killer is now serving life in a sex offenders’ jail in northern Germany.
He re-emerged as a suspect after the Metropolitan Police passed fresh information on to Portuguese colleagues about a “foreign paedophile”, local media reports.
Daily Star Online has approached Scotland Yard for comment.

Just for the record, Jim Gamble was not heavily involved with the 'search' at the beginning. He was heavily involved with the parents of the missing child from the beginning, so sure was he of their innocence - there is a marked difference.

How many men were seen that night walking along with a child in their arms? It now seems to be at least three, according to this. If this is correct, there must have been a sudden rush of men walking about the resort carrying young girls.
Unless, of course, it was the same person who managed to change their appearance in between each supposed sighting.
By the way, I haven't seen that photofit before. What is its provenance?
