Let us never forget that Lord McAlpine was named as the seller of a number of erotic or pornographic (depending on your definition) of photos of young girls made by Ovenden who ended up in prison for his perversion.
He was widely defended by the "Establishment" but luckily his WikiPaedia entry was recorded before it was amended.
Web Archive result follows.
"In May 2003 the London Evening Standard reported that Lord McAlpine was the "well-known and anonymous collector" for whom Bloomsbury Book Auctions was selling a collection of 344 "fashion and eroticism" photographs, including "10 snaps of very young girls in very suggestive poses by Graham Ovenden".[23]"
And we also remember that this is one of those english Irregular verbs
I - am a connoisseur of exquisite erotica
You - read pornography
HE - is a disgusting pervert

Senior political and police figures knew about child sexual abuse linked to Westminster but “turned a blind eye to it” amid a culture of cover up, an inquiry has found.
Political institutions significantly failed in their responses to allegations of child sex abuse for decades by “actively shielding and protecting perpetrators” and covering up allegations, the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse has concluded.
According to the inquiry, several highly placed people in the 1970s and 1980s, including Sir Peter Morrison MP and Sir Cyril Smith MP, were known or rumoured to be active in their sexual interest in children and were protected from prosecution in a number of ways, including by police.

Former Metropolitan Police officer Robert Glen told the inquiry his team had enough evidence to prosecute Sir Cyril Smith, a former Liberal MP, in the 1970s for sexual offences against young boys – but he claims the investigation was thwarted by senior officers who claimed it was “too political”.
The report also claims Liberal Party members “were likely to be aware of allegations against Smith” but “did nothing to inhibit his political progress”.Re: Kate and Gerry McCann's friend Lord Steel admits he knew Sir Cyril Smith has abused children but it 'never occurred' to him to hold an inquiry

No evidence of Westminster VIP child sex abuse ring, finds inquiry
Pressure mounts on Labour's Tom Watson, whose claims led to the £150million Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse
By Martin Evans, CRIME CORRESPONDENT and Robert Mendick, Chief Reporter 25 February 2020 • 12:00pm
The £150million child sex abuse inquiry, that was launched on the back of claims by Labour politician Tom Watson, has found no evidence of a "powerful paedophile network" operating at the heart of Westminster.
The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) concluded that while there had been individual cases of wrongdoing, there was no organised VIP paedophile ring and no establishment cover up.
The findings will heap further criticism on Mr Watson, the former Labour Deputy Leader, who has been accused of peddling "conspiracy theories" and "fake news" when he told the House of Commons in 2012 he had unearthed evidence of a "powerful paedophile network", operating at the heart of Westminster.
The report identified Peter McKelvie, a child protection specialist, as the main source for Mr Watson’s claims, but said while his concerns were genuine, there was simply no evidence to support them.
In its conclusions, the report states: "There is ample evidence that individual perpetrators of child sexual abuse have been linked to Westminster.
"However the inquiry has found no evidence to support the most sensational of the various allegations of child sexual abuse made over recent years that there has been a powerful paedophile network operating within Westminster.”
"There is no evidence to suggest an organised network of abusers in Westminster, or that individuals with a Westminster connection who sexually abused children were part of an organised group."
The report goes on: "Similarly no evidence of any attempts to cover up or suppress information about the existence of such a ring was found at M15, SIS, GCHQ or in the Metropolitan Police Special Branch records now held by Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command."
The IICSA inquiry was launched by Theresa May in July 2014 and is split into 15 separate strands, looking at alleged abuse and subsequent cover ups in various institutions including the Roman Catholic and Anglican churches and children’s homes.
While the report into the Westminster strand has found no evidence of an organised VIP paedophile ring, it highlights a number of cases in which abuse by individuals was covered up or not acted upon.
Lord Steel quits Lib Dems and retires as peer
As highlighted by The Telegraph last week, Lord Steel, the former leader of the Liberal Democrats, comes in for criticism for failing to pass on concerns he had about Cyril Smith, the former Rochdale MP, who was a serial pedophile.
The report accuses the 81-year-old politician of an “abdication of responsibility” for failing to flag up concerns he had in 1979.
A Liberal Democrat spokesperson said: “Cyril Smith’s acts were vile and repugnant. We have nothing but sympathy for those whose lives he ruined. This is an important inquiry and we are thoroughly reading its report.”
After the report's conclusions were published, Lord Steel said he had now quit the Liberal Democrats, and would be retiring as a member of the House of Lords, saying: "I have received indications that some in the Liberal Democrat Party wish me suspended and investigated again, despite a previous disciplinary process in Scotland which concluded that no further action was required.
"I am told that others are threatening to resign if a new investigation is started.
"I wish to avoid any such turmoil in my party and to prevent further distress to my family. I have therefore thanked my local party secretary for their stalwart support through the whole IICSA process, and have informed the local party that my resignation is with immediate effect."
He added: "As to membership of the House of Lords, friends and colleagues including The Lord Speaker are aware that I have been contemplating retirement next month to coincide with the 55th anniversary of my election as an MP.
"With considerable personal sorrow, and thanks to all I have worked with in the party and more widely, I have now decided this is what I should do as soon as possible.
"My wife has suffered poor health this past year. I shall now stop the weekly travel from Scotland to London and enjoy a quiet retirement from public life."
Senior Conservative Party officials failed to pass allegations to police
Elsewhere in the report it suggests there was evidence that senior officials within the Conservative Party had known about allegations concerning Sir Peter Morrison, but failed to pass them on to the police.
Instead he went on to become Margaret Thatcher’s Parliamentary Private Secretary and was knighted in 1991.
Sir Peter, who died in 1995, was rumoured to have indulged in sex parties with underage boys.
The inquiry also investigated the notorious Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE) which campaigned in the 1970s to lower the age of consent.
The report concludes that PIE was given “foolish and misguided support” for several years by organisations who should have known better, such as the National Council for Civil Liberties and the Albany Trust.
The £150million inquiry launched in response to fake claims
IICSA was set up in 2014 by Mrs May as home secretary. She did so after coming under pressure following claims, including one from Labour's Mr Watson, that a VIP paedophile ring existed.
A series of false allegations by fantasists were exposed, including claims from Carl Beech that he was abused by Edward Heath, Lord Brittan and Field Marshal Lord Bramall among others.
Beech, himself a convicted paedophile, was subsequently jailed for perverting the course of justice.
Other claims, including that politicians and celebrities abused boys at a south London guesthouse, were also without foundation.
Report highlights Carl Beech, aka Nick
The report also points out that Carl Beech, the source of some of the most lurid claims about a Westminster paedophile ring, has now been discredited, having been convicted of perverting the course of justice and fraud.
Beech told Scotland Yard he had been abused by a string of high profile politicians and public figures, including Sir Edward Heath, the former Prime Minister, Lord Brittan, the former Home Secretary, Lord Bramall, the former head of the Army and Harvey Proctor, the former Tory MP.
The Metropolitan Police launched an 18 month criminal investigation into his claims, even raiding the homes of some of those accused. But he was later exposed to be a liar and was jailed for 18 years last summer.
The Establishment sometimes turned a 'blind eye' to abuse
The report does identify cases where powerful Westminster figures, accused of abuse, received special treatment.
The inquiry accuses political institutions of "significantly failing" in their responses to allegations of child sexual abuse for decades.
It states: "This includes failing to recognise abuse, turning a blind eye to it, covering up allegations and actively protecting high-profile offenders including politicians."
It states that in the 1970s and 1980s figures including Sir Cyril Smith and Sir Peter Morrison were known to be active in their sexual interest in children, but were protected from prosecution.
The report also flagged up the case of Victor Montagu, the former MP for South Dorset, and the 10th Earl of Sandwich was let off with a caution in the 1970s after being accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy.
In its finding the report states: "The report concludes that these are examples of a poltial cluture which values its reputation far higher than the fate of the children involved."
Chair of the Inquiry, Professor Alexis Jay OBE, said: “It is clear to see that Westminster institutions have repeatedly failed to deal with allegations of child sexual abuse, from turning a blind eye to actively shielding abusers.
“A consistent pattern emerged of failures to put the welfare of children above political status although we found no evidence of an organised network of paedophiles within government.
“We hope this report and its recommendations will lead political institutions to prioritise the needs and safety of vulnerable children.”

I don't believe for a minute that support for PIE was 'foolish and misguided' - it was deliberate, and people knew exactly what they were promoting.

Let us never forget the names of those involved in supporting PIE when they were at the NCCL (now Liberty)
Harriet Harman (MP)
Jack Dromey (MP)
Patricia Hewitt (MP)
Hewitt is no longer an MP, and has managed to apologise
Harman and husband Dromey still are, and have not
Just out of interest Harman is the niece of Lord Longford, who thought Myra Hindley was a nice woman, and visited her regularly in prison.

I think Harman is the reason for the lame “foolish and misguided support” slap on the wrist.

Sun exposes full horror of paedophile plan

LABOUR’S Patricia Hewitt last night apologised after The Sun confronted her
for backing a paedophile plan for the age of consent to be TEN in certain
cases.
The ex-Health Secretary put her name to a document that also wanted to
legalise incest. She and Jack Dromey, now a Labour MP, were members of a
committee recommending a revolutionary change in child sex laws.
Our investigation showed how she backed the work of the Paedophile Information
Exchange (PIE) in the 1970s and 1980s. She said: “I got it wrong on PIE and
I apologise for having done so.”
The call to lower the age of consent came in 1976, when Ms Hewitt was general
secretary of the National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL) — whose links
with PIE have provoked a storm.
Labour’s deputy leader Harriet Harman and her MP husband Jack Dromey were also
NCCL members, but this is the first time one of the party’s politicians has
been shown to directly endorse extreme views on child sex.

LABOUR’S Patricia Hewitt last night apologised after The Sun confronted her for backing a paedophile plan for the age of consent to be TEN in certain cases.
This is just going back in time, rehashing an archaic view on the law and acceptable age of consent.
Throughout the ages, across the great divide of religion, tradition and culture, the age of consent - or should I say the marital age, was considered to be puberty in both male and female. Girls can reach puberty by the age of ten, although I believe the average age is 12/13 and boys are generally a couple of years behind. In days of old, a child reaching puberty was considered ripe for marriage and sexual relations.
Enlightenment over the centuries has changed the law and attitudes towards the age of consent and maturity but still, even to this day, there is no global law that determines the age of consent for marriage and/or sexual relations. Indeed, it wasn't until the 20th century that nations started to adopt a uniform standard hovering around the age of 18 years - but even to this day there is no global law that specifies an acceptable age of consent. Children, mostly in their teens, can still be married off and have sexual relations under the age that is specified or generally considered acceptable in any one country. With parental consent - that proviso is contained within the law.

Why politicians would wish to turn the clock back is another matter altogether. Attach the word pedophile to the subject and they all go scuttling back into the closet.
