The Portuguese authorities are still convinced that the McCanns are the most likely perpetrators. Rightly or wrongly, there will always be that suspicion and stigma hanging over their name, no matter how many bike rides she does.

Madeleine is missing at the very LEAST because Kate and Gerry McCann left them (by their own admission) in an unlocked flat with an access point they couldn't see for 30 minutes at a time.

This is the bottom line of what happened.

How she is even involved with a charity for missing children is mind boggling.

Actually was reading an article this morning in the Times Mag about Etonians and Old Etonians - how they become or are part of the establishment and look after each other for ever.

I've been having a quick look around the McCann-doubting FB groups, and sad to say I have seen some of people's frustration, anger and even hatred towards the McCanns spilling out into some very nasty comments indeed, some much worse than some of Brenda Leyland's worst.

If sections of the government and the mainstream media want another excuse to clamp down on the internet, take powers to close down websites and forums, send internet trolls to prison for longer than two years etc., nothing would suit them better just now than to be able to extract some of the nastiest comments and to make hay with them, alongside picutures of a grieving mother valiantly striving to raise money for a worthy cause.

Just look, for example, at how the Sun ably milked the willing nastinesss of Rosalinda Hutton, aided and abetted as we know by Sonia Poulton.

And this is still how much of the population will see it - nasty people hounding a noble, brave woman. Probably that's much how the man-in-the-street also assessed the nasty tweets and the suicide of Brenda Leyland, even though we mightr see it rather differently here.

I predict this bikeathon will be a net financial loss ( not that MP will advertise the fact. It's accounts are as transparent as you know who's). Usually when people undertake to participate worthy fundraisers, they cover their own costs whether it be the London marathon or trekking the Sahara desert.
Costs in respect of actual activities must be minimal for MP. Free FB & Twitter, lots of free publicity because of their ambassador and the hard work done by volunteers.
I would love to know how it justifies such a huge wage bill and running costs and what the staff actually do?
On second thoughts perhaps I'm being a little harsh. Gala dinners and self congratulations don't come cheap.

Well I am surprised - NOT.

All smiles when discussing the bike ride and how the money raised will be helping other families and then sad, sad face when Maddie is mentioned no doubt.

I shan't be watching her for sure.

I am sick of them and all this grinning and as a parent I would be not be doing so on tv as I would be thinking what if my daughter is watcing all of this. What would she make of all this grinning and charity events, helping other people, when she didn't answer those 48 questions.
