Madeleine McCann's mother Kate is a choir ambassador on series 11 as it returns to ITV this weekend.
Britain's Got Talent has not yet returned to TV screens and one act has already got tongues wagging – The Missing People Choir.

Speaking about the moving audition, Simon Cowell claims they could be this year's BGT winners.
He said: "We've had a lot of people coming on to highlight different causes this year. We had something this year called the Missing People Choir, which was very emotional. They've got a shot at winning, I think. I remember on the day thinking that it was special."
Cowell, 57, also claimed that acts with sad background stories like The Missing People's Choir are not "sob stories" and instead human interest.
He added: "What's quite interesting this year though is a lot of the stories I heard, they didn't come on and shout about it, it was me asking questions and finding out about the story.
"Some of the stories we heard were really quite incredible, they were about real things that have happened in their lives and I think they were sincere. They weren't necessarily sob stories, they were human interest and for me, that makes it more interesting."
The choir touched the audience during secret auditions in February when they sang I Miss You. Among the singing group is Peter Lawrence, 75, whose daughter vanished on her way to work at the University of York in 2009, along with the father of missing Lee Boxwell who disappeared in 1988.
Cowell has been accused of softening in his old age, especially since becoming a father to son Eric, with fellow panellist Amanda Holden teasing him about visiting a hippy retreat.
Responding to the accusations, Cowell said: "I've always been interested in people, if I'm being honest with you. It's important to me, even as a head of a label that I get to know as much as I can in a short space of time. So I do ask a lot of questions."
The media mogul also spoke about how son Eric, now three, has a future ahead of him as a judge. He said: "He does enjoy coming down to auditions. The first time I brought him to Britain's Got Talent he thought it was scary because of the big red Xs, but then after a few months I said, 'What does Daddy do when he goes to work?' and he said I pressed buttons – it's a little more than that!
"Now, he understands the show so I watch him and I'm like, 'Eric do you like it? Don't you like it?'. He's got a really good eye and ear for it, so yes, he's going to be doing this one day," he added.
The 11th series of BGT gets underway this Saturday 15 April, with judges David Walliams, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon joining Cowell in the nationwide talent search. Ant and Dec will be back to hosting duties as members of the public give a chance to show off their signature skills to the UK.
Britain's Got Talent airs at 8pm on ITV on Saturday.

Simco is a trading company.
I wonder if the McCanns paid anything to get this choir onto BGT and for the corresponding media reports. They did a deal with the press, is it possible that they did the same thing here?

'granddad pete2' is Peter Boxell who 'wrote' the 'song' for his missing, since 1988, son Lee. In 2014, the song, ‘I Miss You’ was written by Jim Hawkins and Simon Rhodes, with lyrics by Peter Boxell.
I don't 'suppose', for one minute, that Peter, or other relatives of 'missing people', have a 'say', on WHO is 'chosen' to be a 'Missing People Charity'....... 'ambassador'.
With the PSC 'judgement' stating that the McS were 'not cleared' of 'possible involvement' in their own daughter's 'disappearance' I can see why the 'choir', comprised of relatives of 'genuinely, missing people', would want to 'distance' themselves from a 'missing people ambassador' who might, in the future, be 'implicated' in a crime.
'that' would reflect 'terribly' on all of the genuine 'relatives', of missing people, in 'the choir', wouldn't it? ('yeah, yeah, they were all in on it together')
TWO 'ambassadors' (FP&KM) for the Missing People 'charity' have both admitted, on record, to 'having, consciously, deliberately, left their children alone, out of their sight, to 'dine' with friends'!
Peter Boxell, imo, has had the 'foresight' to 'anticipate a backlash' against 'the MP choir' BECAUSE KM is 'associated' with Missing People 'charity'.
All, imo, obviously.

Sounds like grandad pete doesn't have a high opinion of the Ambassador , who admits to leaving her 3 children alone night after night to go eating and drinking with her mates.
It's a shame that any performance they do will now be tainted by the insistence of the media dragging the McCanns name into it .
Those who genuinely have loved ones missing must feel hard done by and second class

The charity Missing People has people within its organisation whose background is the Pop industry. The Rock Choir didn't happen by chance. Jo Youle and her partner (who does the Rock Choir) came from this background.

You'd 'like' grandad Pete and 'nana' Boxell to 'have a nice cup of tea and a chat' with GA and TB, wouldn't you?
I 'fear' to read what the 'comments' section of BGT or 'papers', will have to say, IF KM is 'paraded' as 'front and centre' of the MP 'choir'.

Here is the statement from Missing People which makes no mention of the Rock Choir.
The Missing People choir, which is made up of families with missing loved ones have joined forces with music stars from across the decades including Rick Astley, Chesney Hawkes, Nik Kershaw, Carol Decker, Lesley Garrett, Hayley Tamaddon, Jodie Prenger, Debra Stephenson, Kerry Ellis, Balsamo Deighton and G4 on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] which they are hoping the public will get behind to help reach every missing child.
The original song, ‘I Hope’ was inspired by the words of Kevin Gosden whose son [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] went missing at the age of 14 in 2007 and highlights the heartbreak facing families with missing loved ones, and the often agonising hope of seeing them again.

To be in such a choir when you potentially live hundreds of miles away from people who have lost a relative and are in a similar boat must pose logistical problems. It's not as if it's a local choir where you can just turn up/not turn up if you're feeling down.
So, what makes a choir?

Why would anyone want a pact of silence when a child has gone missing?
I was thinking the other day about the tapas friends not wanting to do a reconstruction.
If it were my child gone missing there is no way that I would have accepted their decision - in other words I would have ceased all contact with them forever if they had not agreed to get back to Portugal and do a reconstruction.
I most certainly WOULD NOT have been doing charity running and bicycling races with them - absolutely NO WAY.

MISSING YOU Who are the Missing People Choir and when are they appearing on Britain’s Got Talent? All you need to know
The choir are set to get the audience crying with their moving performance
MISSING People Choir are already being tipped to win Britain’s Got Talent.
The new series kicks off this weekend with a batch of new hopefuls – we take a look at the Choir and what they are all about…
The Missing People Choir is made up of individuals and families of people who have vanished, and is led by the Missing People charity.
Missing child Madeleine McCann’s mum Kate is an ambassador of the choir.
The Missing People Choir recorded their Britain’s Got Talent audition back in January.
They performed the tear-jerking song I Miss You, written by Peter Boxell, and were immediately tipped as possible BGT winners.
It includes the lyrics: “I never thought I’d be without you.
“I always thought you’d be here safe with me.
“Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up to find you.”
An audience member in London said: “Images of some of the missing people they were linked to also flashed up on the screen which had everyone in tears.
“Judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon were particularly moved.
“Amanda said they were an inspiration.
“The choir said they had only performed together about seven times.
“You could tell in their voices how much it means to them all.”
It’s not yet known which episode the audition will be screened on, but it will be shown once the show kicks off on Saturday 15 April 2017 at 8pm.

Any truth in the rumour they are going to let Kate sing the 'Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep' song . . . ?
Where's your momma gone
Little baby girl
Where's your momma gone
Far far away - far far awayayay
Last night I heard my momma singing this song
Ooh wee chirpy chirpy cheep cheep
Woke up this evening and my momma was gone
Ooh wee chirpy chirpy cheep cheep
Chirpy chirpy cheep cheep chirp
Where's your poppa gone

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
I no longer watch BGT, but I think they now have a "Golden buzzer" which puts an act straight through to the final?
I wonder if the choir will be "buzzed" straight through?
After all do they really want the public potentially not voting them through? Then poor Kate wouldn't get to appear would she!!

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
Sorry, but I find the last half-a dozen or so comments really distasteful and just the sort of thing to get people like the serious members of this forum described, wrongly, as trolls.
Despite the dark irony of Kate McCann, the "responsible parent", being anywhere near such a thing as the BGT project on missing kids, there should be no room for cheap jibes about her. The McCann saga is a serious thing.
I read some of the song lyrics and seem to remember a line that said something about wanting to wake up tomorrow and "find you there". I wonder whether Kaye would endorse that sentiment, given that she and G are reported to have been in negotiations to do a 10th anniversary (that would be in May) interview about their daughter's disappearance. Any re-appearance would completely scupper that. That is not a cheap jibe - in my opinion it is a serious point.
All in my opinion and still hoping for justice.

Yeah, they are distasteful, I agree.
But no more distasteful than Prime Suspect, cadaver stinking, corpse concealing, Kate McCann Ambassador for Missing People being involved with a Choir that includes family members of real missing people going on BGT and potentially winning and singing in front of The Queen.
Now, that's distasteful.

Re: Simon Cowell tips Missing People's Choir with Kate McCann as Britain's Got Talent winner
GEG, whilst I agree with what you say is distasteful about the awful vista of Kate McCann using BGT for her and GM's highly dubious agenda, I still think we should keep to a certain level of decorum.
I am very grateful to to members of this forum for the research they have done and the opinions they have expressed. It has helped me to understand more about a case about which I had great suspicions from the beginning.
I still think, though, that we should sink below the level of those we oppose.
All in my opinion and still hoping for truth and justice.
