Apparently this is a comment on the Guardian website in response to it's article "Scotland Yard spied on critics of police corruption".
It pretty well sums up what many people feel about our national institutions at the moment. Let's hope Operation Grange doesn't go the same way.
The Guardian / Dale Martin
Comment by Dale Martin
Scotland Yard deployed undercover officers in political groups that sought to uncover corruption in the Metropolitan police and campaigned for justice for people who had died in custody, the Guardian can reveal.
The system has become nothing more than a complete web of deceit and corruption, rather than clean up their act internally, those in charge would prefer to silence those who seek to show the true inner workings of an institution that is out of control. By doing so they encourage corruption and perpetuate wrong-doing because within an environment where the wrong-doers are constantly having their deeds covered up, the worst of the worst will rule the roost and all those that are decent and good will be powerless to stop any of it.
In a world where they present nothing but illusion, as time goes by the hidden reality will just continue to get worse and worse. The people that lead this country and many who occupy high office and steer it have all become nothing more than masters of illusion, bullshit merchants who make huge salaries for doing nothing more than suppressing the truth and driving everything they touch into the ground.

At least two of the tapas 7 wanted to change their statements (CM denied it, so probably true). If the tapas 7 are questioned by SY I think whoever the two were will tell all.

Perhaps she just likes purple
And she's been fierce about NOT having jeans with her on the holiday.
Strangely enough DP wasn't wearing jeans either. He had beige pants, when Yvon Warren Martin met him.
But GM was wearing jeans that evening and then there were beige pants on the bed ....

I referred to this woman in relation to the questions asked by Jane Tanner."

"Now I know her name, description of the clothes and photos which I have seen in the press. At that time I knew of her as a member of the group but did not know her name. I do not remember having seen her when I spoke with Gerry, but I believe I saw her when I first ventured out. She was stopped on the street in front of one of the group's apartments when I passed her down towards the exit to my apartment. I do not know if it was her apartment or not. I remember that she was wearing the colour purple."
I realise it was earlier, at about 8.15 - 8.30. Does this discount it being her ?
In JW`s 3rd statement he says " Bridget and I returned to the apartment and minutes afterward, a uniformed police officer, accompanied by a British man serving as interpreter, showed up. Later we came to know him as Robert Murat. I do not remember if he gave me his details but recently when I was cleaning a bag, I came across a card with his name and telephone number. I believe that he may have given this to me so that we could contact him in case we had any additional information to offer. The police officer asked us if we had noticed anything out of the normal and Robert Murat translated. I spoke to him of the "rasta man" and the police officer took some notes on paper. He also noted our names and passport numbers. During the days that followed, as we passed through the police cordon, we noticed Robert Murat on numerous occasions. On Friday, the 4th of May or Saturday, 5th of May 2007, at one of the police cordons, I again saw Robert Murat. He told me that they had investigated the lead of the "rasta man" but that he was a local man and that everything was okay. He thanked me for my collaboration. I never saw Robert prior to his visit to our apartment with the police officer.
JW had seen rasta man in the toilets (taking a long time) soon after he had started his walk. RM was translating when JW told the PJ about rasta man. RM gives JW his card so JW could contact him if he thought of any more information (?). RM later makes a point of telling JW that rasta man was local and everything was ok with him - why? and how did RM know it was ok?

Gerry McCann could have met someone within the town he had already contacted to take the "bundle" from him, giving him time to get back to the Tapas Bar before the alarm was raised, hence all the mobile phone messages/texts being deleted, IMHO.

I'm still trying to get my head up to speed on all of this. I know that some of you are well ahead of me.
This may seem like an obscure question, but does anyone else on here think that "A golfing holiday in Portugal" could be a euphemism for something with a much darker meaning. A seemingly innocent pastime, (which it is for most people), but an ideal cover, for those with very sinister intention's?

Marconi, on Gerry's general performance I'd say that if a thing needed to be done 'perfectly' I'd strongly advise NOT to have it done by Gerry.
Imo he has more than a touch of Delboy and when things go wrong as they did and do all the time, he blusters and lies.

quote from another member " I'm still trying to get my head up to speed on all of this. I know that some of you are well ahead of me."
me too ! I have just got a new laptop after my 5 yr old one had to be binned......so am catching up on a lot I have missed. I get my news online these days so have not read any news re the CPS dramatic development, also heard nothing on t v. news.
From my knowledge of the CPS they are not investigators in any way, they weigh up the likelihood of successful prosecution and the fact they are now involved suggests to me that for certain it is the UK which is at the centre of this crime, maybe one or more Brits and maybe a person/ persons with dual nationality.
I am not very knowledgeable on their way of operating, but my instinct tells me that if the police believed for a moment that Maddie was still alive, the CPS issue would have remained under wraps. I sadly believe that this latest very significant development means that the little one is considered deceased by UK authorities.

sctland yard takes
Why is it taking so long for the Yard to take over the investigation if they have all of the files in Belgrave?
And why is it taking so long for Theresa May to give a statement that they will take it or took it already?
The prosecutor lawyer went to Portugal in May, we are longer than two moths further.
According to myself the Yard took the probe over very long ago.
If a prosecutor lawyer is involved in it, it is because the case became an English issue.
And it seems to be the last step before making people suspects.
I'm happy the expenses are for the UK.

It is possible that the McCanns used Murat to spy for them because they are control freaks and they had to control what was going on.
When he became arguido, the Tapas had no choice than to point to him as being the perpetrator.

This is one of the things I like about the internet. You get a so much "richer" vocabulary (and no I don't mean OMFG etc). I used to think my english is not that bad, but everyday I find at least one word I never heard before. My kids always tease me for having the dictionary constant loaded. So yesterday I learned "publican" (no it's not one that lost the re) and joiner, but what is delboy?? Please help me out.

A Character from Only Fools and Horses.lj wrote:, but what is delboy?? Please help me out.
This is from Wiki
Del Boy is a lively, happy-go-lucky, confident character. While not always successful, his general confidence and occasional forcefulness often persuade people to believe in him. From the sixth series on, he becomes a stereotypical [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] of the late 1980s, pretending to be much more wealthy than he really is, as he tries to associate with the upper classes despite being obviously [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
He is a habitual liar, particularly to women, customers, policemen and even his family and doctors. He lies even when it is against his best interests, such as when he claims to be a health freak while suffering from stomach pains, leading to his spending several days under observation in hospital rather than receiving an immediate diagnosis.
Del reckons he can speak some French, {for which read ENGLISH ! } though nearly all the time none of his phrases make any sense in the context he uses them in (e.g. Saying "Au revoir" to say "hello" and "bonjour" to say goodbye). He also thinks he has knowledge in subjects like history, art and other academic subjects (his lack of knowledge in history is shown well in "To Hull and Back" in which he calls Albert "the finest little sailor this country has produced since [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] lost the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]".) [Purporting theories, constant misuse of "for Kate and I . . ." spring to mind]
Del Boy is not always keen to express his love for his family and others, . .
couldn't have written that better myself !
Re: Scotland Yard takes over the inquiry into Maddie's disappearance from Portuguese plus *UPDATE* CPS lawyers fly to Portugal
Hi lj - Del boy is Del Boy Trotter - from the TV comedy "Only Fools and Horses". He was a con man who lived in a tower block called Nelson Mandela House in Peckham with his simple nephew and grandad. He actually had a soft heart but was always doing dodgy deals. The series was hilarious as he was always trying to big himself up and impress people but always got in a mess. See a pic by googling Del Boy Trotter, then images.lj wrote:margaret wrote:He is delboy isn't he? Didn't Kate in her book compare herself to a lioness, referring to her protective instincts?
The following is posted online by another mother.
Lioness Behaviour [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Last night I woke suddenly at 2am, surfacing swiftly from a War Games-esque dream that involved a teenage boy, a russian submarine and a lot of special effects, to the sound of Elliot coughing.
Before I even knew where I was I had thrown myself out of bed and to the side of his cot, flung the mosquito net open and was ready to grab him to save his life, which judging by the superhero speed of my reaction and the throbbing pulse in my ears was what was at stake.
Now, it turned out it was really just a cough and it didn't even wake him, but it COULD have been something blocking his throat and I felt proud in the knowledge that I would have come to his rescue. Well, until half an hour later when I was still awake, listening to his breathing with a still-racing pulse and an all-too a frequent subject matter going round in my mind: 'Bad Things that can happen to a baby'.
I have long been a critic of the notion that women have some sort of built-in baby monitor which ensures their focused attention to the infant's every need, and that fathers somehow are excused from night-time care, sleeping through every 'event' such as the above. But I am beginning to notice a behaviour in myself that is like a lioness in the wild, ensuring that her cubs will come to no harm so long as she is nearby. Maybe there's something in it after all...

russiandoll wrote:Didn't Kate in her book compare herself to a lioness, referring to her protective instincts?
There are two references.
Interestingly the first is not about herself feeling like that, but two other women !
My immediate worry was Amelie and Sean. If this farce continued in the same vein, and we ended up being formally accused of doing something to Madeleine, people were going to start calling for the twins to be taken away from us. I could feel the panic building up inside me. Between sobs I blurted out my fears to Trisha and Eileen.
It’s hard to describe their response, but if you picture two lionesses whose young are under threat for their lives it will give you the general idea. Remembering it now actually brings a little smile to my face. Hell hath no fury like two women from Glasgow.
The second is later and Kate is back on form talking about herself. It is about the "alleged" plea bargain
Nothing in the book about protecting Madeleine though. Which is understandable, all things considered.Trisha and Eileen, disturbed by the noise, appeared from their room. Keeping a lid on my anger for long enough to enable me to communicate clearly, I brought them up to speed. Within seconds there were three raging lionesses pacing the villa.
Recognizing the need to switch into crisis-management mode, we calmed each other down. Gerry and I made it very clear to Trisha and Eileen that if we didn’t return from the police station the next day, they should take the children out of the country as soon as possible.

Why ? On what basis does she come to that conclusion ?. Why does she blow the "Living like a princess" story out of the water ?Asked what she now believes happened to Madeleine, McGuiness said it was highly unlikely she was kidnapped to order as some theories suggested or just walked out of the apartment herself.
Their friends, family, and spokesthings hem them in every time they speak.
The combination of McGuinness, Edgar. Philomena and Mitchell have just about denied them any wriggle room whatsoever.
