Achilles tendon injuries: Beckham out for 3-6 months; Dr Gerald McCann jogging in days
Truly remarkable.
David Beckham is out of footballl for 3 to 6 months as a result of an Achilles tendon injury, and will miss the World Cup.
Dr Gerald McCann, by contrast, had an Achilles tendon injury which prevented him playing tennis on 3 May 2007, as per this article by David James Smith on 16 December 2007 in The Times:
"Gerry had knocked up at the start of the 4.30pm tennis-drills session, but had decided not to exacerbate an injury to his Achilles tendon, so had dropped out and waited around by the courts until the children came back from the kids’ clubs at 5pm for tea".
Yet Dr G McCann was up and jogging 3-mile runs within days.
What a truly amazing man!
A superman

Have to say you've got a good memory for recalling facts like this, Tony!

It's not a fact, it's an amazing ability to selectively quote the rubbish that's been printed in the papers. No mentioning of an injury in GM's statement:
"trying to convince the deponent to continue to play tennis, to which [entreaty] he did not accede as he had already been playing for about an hour and had to go back to to his wife."

Achilles tendon injury
Stephen Carpenter mentioned that Gerry twisted an ankle on Sunday or Monday. He also says he saw the McCanns at the beach Sunday or Monday lunchtime.
Interesting statement actually. He talks about a man with dreadlocks, but grey haired aged about 50 years old. Could that be Jeremy Wilkins' dreadlocked man I wonder? He said blond, but he saw him indoors, while the others who saw him may have been outside in the dark. Neil Berry was the one who was eliminated as the dreadlocked one, I think, but he didn't actually have any. Carpenter gave his number to Gerry before leaving. Then his statement says his wife rang Philomena. I assume this is Gerry's sister, but he doesn't elaborate and Leicestershire Police don't ask of course.
