A BRITON who allegedly claimed that he killed Madeleine McCann before knifing a woman is being investigated by police.

Shane Leighton, 22, is being held in a Portuguese prison, accused of stabbing Clara Corrigan 17 times last May.
During the attack, Clara, 39, alleges the trainee chef boasted that he killed three year- old Madeleine, who vanished on May 3, 2007, from Praia da Luz on the Algarve.
When he allegedly attacked Clara, Leighton was living with his grandparents, Sylvia and Barry Leighton, in Albuefeira, also on the Algarve.
Detectives have been checking his alibi, that he was a 15-year-old schoolboy in Britain when Madeleine vanished.
Officers have interviewed his father and spoken to the head teacher of his school in Lancing, near Worthing, West Sussex.
They sought school records to see if he was absent or on holiday.
As part of the inquiry they would also have sought his passport records. Sylvia Leighton said:
“We are aware that Scotland Yard officers have been looking into these allegations because of what the woman said.
“They are doing their job but we don’t think there is anything in this.

Shane wasn’t even in Portugal at the time Madeleine went missing." [continues with more total b**** ]

So why publish the story - AGAIN ?

however, there is something very questionable about regurgitating (very conveniently with the upcoming Brenda Leyland Coroner's inquiry and the Amaral trial) such a story to the 'hoi polloi'. You probably won't find either of those mentioned in any detail in newspaper reports.

Lots of nasty things are posted on twitter especially from the McWorshipers ! Just hope that Brenda gets a decent investigation into WHAT went on and wrong in her case and that the true perpetrators are brought into the picture and delt with in the manor it deserves....but somehow I don't think it will be !!!

It is fairly obvious who it is, even though it directly contradicts what TM have said, but is supported in full by BHH !
HM Coroner has received a full report with evidence.

Peter, this dark silhouette/voice protected shite is the stuff of scared 'whistleblowers'. No-one needed to whistle blow on something that was said on Twitter. It's there for all to see. This scary 'we are concerned about trolls' stuff is crap. The police hadn't even taken action on it.

This is a travesty and Sky News didn't cobble this together in a couple of days. It was a carefully selected and planned attack.

Well quite.
Sky had the Phankles clip from the pond in Edinburgh, the dubbed interview, possibly also done in Edinburgh, and planning, getting Brunt and the camera team into position, probably knew what time the late Brenda (RIP) came out of her house each day, so that they could pounce at H-Hour on D-Day.
This took some days to prepare.
If Phankles is who everyone now believes she is, she also had some travelling to do.

You make some excellent points here Aquila.

The whole episode would have been far less sinister and distasteful had Sky/Brunt also pointed out that Brenda had received VERY threatening Tweets from McCan supporters, this constant omission in the media is wholly unforgivable. The one-sided portrayal of the whole episode is absolutely disgusting. And that is what keeps many people active on social media, and why tempers flare and contributors say things that they might not otherwise say. It is a sense of hypocrisy, of injustice, of the realisation that this total bias is shamelessly being paraded in front of us and so on.

In fact it is the total omission of truth in the reporting of the whole Madeleine McCann affair that is thoroughly reprehensible and which will keep some of us watching and analysing as long as we have breath in our body.

None of this was cobbled together in a couple of days - and the exposure it was given on Sky News, the likes of which I've never seen before - Brenda Leyland wasn't a terrorist - there was plenty of news that could have hit the Sky News screen every fifteen minutes - nope it was Brenda Leyland that was hounded. A complete and utter attack on one woman who tweeted on the McCann case.

The way in which the tweets were represented was a complete travesty. They were given to the public as if they all belonged to Brenda Leyland.

If I were Brunt I'd be hanging my head in shame.
