Madeleine McCann's parents believe probe into German suspect is 'beyond bizarre'
EXCLUSIVE Kate and Gerry McCann are said to have raised concerns days after prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters spoke of evidence he has against Christian Brueckner
By
Patrick Hill 20:42, 12 DEC 2020
The parents of missing Madeleine McCann believe a German probe into the key suspect is “beyond bizarre” – as he has not been questioned.
Friends revealed Kate and Gerry’s concerns days after prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters spoke of evidence he has against Christian Brueckner.
Wolters said the public would be as sure as he is about Brueckner – if they “knew the evidence we had”.
But the McCanns can’t understand why Brueckner has not been quizzed.
A friend said: “Any police force or prosecuting chief should not be boasting... but should be remaining silent as in the case of the Met Police.
“They should... not be suggesting that members of the public would be reaching the same conclusion as they do about the suspect if they knew the evidence they had. It is beyond bizarre and not very helpful to the investigation.”
Madeleine, from Rothley, Leics, vanished in May 2007, days before her fourth birthday.
She was on holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal, with her parents and twin siblings Sean and Amelie, then two.
Brueckner, a convicted paedophile, is in a German jail for drug smuggling and the rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005.
He is also being investigated over the rape of a holiday rep in another resort, Praia da Rocha, in 2004.
German cops tipped off Brueckner, 43, that he may be a suspect in Madeleine’s disappearance in 2013 by asking him in writing to come in to be interviewed.
But the authorities in Braunschweig, where Wolters is based, have never quizzed former drifter Brueckner under caution.
The McCanns’ friend added: “If Mr Wolters has got any significant evidence we cannot understand why the key suspect is not being questioned.
“If the prosecutors are intent that Brueckner is a genuine person of interest to be questioned and possibly charged over Madeleine’s disappearance, why has this action not been taken?
“If they think he is a red herring and had no involvement they should say so, instead of playing games, because the real culprit could be out there and escaping any scrutiny.”
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror in June, Mr Wolters, who admits he does not have enough evidence to charge Brueckner, said: “We don’t try to speak because it’s not the right time. We don’t believe he will say he did it.
“We think we have 90 per cent evidence. If he knows what this is, he can try to change his story.”

That's what it's always been about, support for the McCanns and damnation of the Portuguese police.
It was blatantly obvious from the word go, just like the Netflix production that the McCanns declined to participate in. Because it's to their advantage alone.
I can't begin to fathom who is behind this maskerade, Mr Mitchell, but it sure is having the desired effect.
The McCanns do and always have relied upon the gullibility of people, they know full well how to tug the heartstrings - a three year old child!
It's more tedious than 'the virus' and Brexit, at least they are worldly events deserving of global attention. The sniveling squirming McCanns however, are not worthy of any further attention.
They've well over played their act. Fat lady exit stage left ....

Parents of Madeleine McCann describe German police probe as “beyond bizarre”
By Natasha Donn -15th December 2020
Latest commentary on claims by German police that they are “90% sure” they know who abducted (and killed) Madeleine McCann but ‘still don’t have the evidence to prove it” has been from the missing child’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann who have dubbed the German probe and all its claims as “beyond bizarre”.
Reports circulating the world say the McCanns “are baffled by the loud and brash comments” made by prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters.
“If Mr Wolters has got any significant evidence we cannot understand why the key suspect is not being questioned”, they are quoted as saying.
As for Mr Wolters’ most recent remarks that the public “would reach the same conclusion” if they knew the evidence his police force has, the McCanns are portrayed as believing it’s a very bad idea to ‘encourage the public to come up with conclusions’.
A friend of the family talking to the UK Mirror tabloid said: “ Any police force or prosecuting chief should not be boasting … but should be remaining silent as in the case of the Met Police.”
The Met recently saw yet another tranche of funding ploughed into the Operation Grange investigation that has so far spent over £12,124,000 (the figure confirmed in April this year) trying to establish what actually happened to three-year-old Madeleine who vanished from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz over 13 years ago.

Natasha has to be circumspect.
She knows Gonçalo, and organised the meeting between him and Fülscher a few months ago.
I would guess they all know more than they are able to say.
Let us hope Gonçalo's new book is released some time soon.

The SUN knows better. As always.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/13527613/madeleine-mccann-christian-b-will-be-questioned-by-police/
COPS have revealed they will question the prime suspect for Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
The vow came from Christian Wolters, who is leading the inquiry in Germany into paedophile Christian B, 43.
- - -
He said: “When the accused will be questioned depends on further investigation.
"But he will be questioned.”
***
Any decent police officer or Barrister knows that you do not ask a question of a suspect to elicit information.
You ask to confirm what you already know and to test whether the suspect is telling the truth.
More than half the time you hope for a denial.
Does that sound strange ?
In this case though, H. Wolters has pushed his case publicly for so long he will have no option. Sooner or later
he will come to the realisation that not only is there is no evidence that Brücker abducted Madeleine,
there is no evident that she was abducted in the first place. And at that point, to 'close' the case he will
have to speak to Brückner so he can tell the world -
"He refused to cooperate, and refuses to say where he hid the body"
That way H. Wolters gets out of the hole he has dug for himself, the circus can go on,
the McCanns can plead for more money, Gamble can carry on asking for people to send photos,
the gutter press can carry on pretending the case has been solved,
everyone can carry on lying about shutters and windows of opportunity and regular checks and abduction
and no one needs to look at the evidence.

COPS have revealed they will question the prime suspect for Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
The vow came from Christian Wolters, who is leading the inquiry in Germany into paedophile Christian B, 43.

He said: “When the accused will be questioned depends on further investigation.
"But he will be questioned.”
Convicted rapist and paedophile Christian B, 43, was identified as number one suspect by authorities earlier this year who said they had ‘’concrete evidence’’ the little girl was dead.
Madeleine, three, vanished in Portugal in 2007.
Parents Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, are said to be “baffled” that Christian B, who is in jail, has not been quizzed.
Christian B is currently being held at top security Wolfenbuttel jail near Hanover where he is serving seven years for raping a 72 year old American woman in Praia da Luz on Portugal’s Algarve coast in 2005 - where Madeleine vanished from two years later.
Mr Wolters told The Sun on Sunday: “We are not in contact with the McCann family.
"Otherwise, we conduct our investigations as necessary. An interrogation of an accused often comes at the end of the investigation and is therefore not unusual.
"When the accused will be questioned depends on the further investigation. There is no fixed time for this.’’

I'm still at a loss to understand how come a VIP [very important person] is speaking directly with one of Britain's dirtiest rags, the go to place for salacious gossip of the day - The Sun!
Herr Wolter is reported to have said he has compelling evidence to prove the suspect abducted and murdered. If such evidence exists, the authorities can proceed with interrogation - what are they waiting for?
Throughout the campaign, the wider agenda [circa. May 2007/December 2020], The Sun has remained loyal to the prime suspects in the case of missing Madeleine McCann - Gerry and Kate McCann. Extraordinary move on the part of the German authorities to choose the particular tabloid as UK liaison.
It doesn't even follow the customary mode of reporting .... ' source close to the investigation told The Sun'. They are invariably reported as direct quotes from Herr Wolter.

Translation:
The Suspect in the case of Maddie has been moved to a new Prison in Lower Saxony today.
The 43 year old is according to information from the dpa (German Press Agency) transferred to JVA Wolfenbüttel, where he will be serving a long sentence after his recent conviction for Rape.
The Justice Department has said that they normally do not give out information on exactly which Prison a Prisoner has been sent to.
“Wolfenbüttel would be the usual Prison for a Convict to be sent to for these sort of crimes in this county” said Herr Wolters from the State Prosecutors Office in Braunschweig.

MADDIE HOPE Maddie McCann detectives believe case could be solved in 2021 as suspect Christian B to be quizzed in New Year
Jon Lockett
28 Dec 2020, 16:43Updated: 28 Dec 2020, 16:43
COPS investigating the number one suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann believe the case could finally be cracked in 2021.
Under-pressure German detectives probing paedophile Christian B say there "will be no let up" in the long-running search for the truth.
The new hope comes after it was revealed police will finally quiz the German suspect over the youngster's disappearance in Portugal in 2007.
It's also been reported he is to be moved to a maximum security prison ahead of questioning.
Until then, officers say they will continue to “work day and night” to find the evidence they need to solve the mystery.
A source close to the case told the Sun Online: “German officers had hoped that, by now, they would have found the missing pieces of the jigsaw which they need to link (Christian B) to the disappearance of Madeleine.
“But they remain as determined as ever and there will absolutely no let up in the New Year.
"The German police will not be taking their foot off the gas.”
Details of their vow comes weeks after we revealed those working on the case now want to fly to Portugal.
Sources say detectives want to follow up crucial new leads in Praia Da Luz - where the Brit youngster vanished from when aged just three.
They want to travel to the resort amid growing concerns local cops - who insist Christian B was ruled out as a suspect years ago - may have overlooked key clues.
Our source added: “The German and Portuguese relations remain pretty bad.
"Officers in Germany know that their suspicions the suspect is involved in this will only be realised through hard work and old-fashioned policing.
“That’s why they want to put boots back on the ground in Portugal and follow up on leads.
They believe the suspect was involved and will work day and night to prove this is the case now and in the future.”
The pledge to grill Christian B came from Christian Wolters, who is leading the inquiry in Germany into the prime suspect.
He said: “When the accused will be questioned depends on further investigation. But he will be questioned.”
The convicted rapist and paedophile, 43, was identified as the main suspect by authorities earlier this year who tragically said they had "concrete evidence’" Madeleine was dead.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
They may be right.
If Christian Brückner is questioned he may indeed reveal vital information that leads to the case being solved.
He might, for example, give details of how he was contracted to remove and dispose of a body from an apartment on Monday evening
He might, for example, give details including being in the vicinity on Monday and seeing a heavy blue bag being placed into a taxi by a man who came out of an apartment and then drove away
He might, for example, give details of seeing a family with only two small children moving around the resort during the week
There is a whole list of things which he might say, and which he might know.
I have a suspicion that the powers which guard the parents will never allow a proper interview.
Or of course they could also do the unthinkable and actually Follow up on the Leads.
There are plenty which have never been followed-up-on.

If I put myself in Christian Brückners shoes right now, sitting in a small cell for months, and now years ahead of me before release...
No gaurentee of a normal life afterwards.
There is no limit to the answers I could dream up.
He may have enough knowledge from the PJ Files and other open sources that he comes up with a story so plausible it would be difficult to prove he was lying.
Where would that leave the Tapas 9?
In a panic to explain? Erklärungsnot?

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
A while ago, I suggested on another thread that the McCann's may have had help for the final part of the operation, which would be the disposal of Madeleine's body. That way, they could genuinely say that they do not where she is. Somebody, and I can't remember who, pointed out that involving an outsider would be too risky, and I agree. Anybody outside of the Tapas crowd could spill the beans, and almost certainly would if the net started to close in on him. However, the McCann's describe the investigating of Bruckner is 'bizarre', whereas they are normally 'buoyed'.

Whatever the McCanns say, you can guarantee they mean the opposite because they know what happened to Maddie.
"Parents Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, are said to be “baffled” that Christian B, who is in prison, has not yet been quizzed."
This ^^^ really means they're very grateful for someone, anyone, taking the blame.

They reacted in a similar way when the Netflix film was released. It was reported that, although invited to participate in the documentary, they declined because it didn't help 'the search'.
Clarence Mitchell, the family’s former spokesman, who still assists with media inquiries, told the Guardian: “Kate and Gerry and their wider family and friends were approached some months ago to participate in the documentary. Kate and Gerry didn’t ask for it and don’t see how it will help the search for Maddie on a practical level, so they chose not to engage.”
The Netflix film was largely in favour of the Mccanns and their storyline, supported by a glowing cast of McCann adherents. This indicates to me that the McCanns were very much involved with the production, albeit on the sidelines.

Following on, it would appear from more recent reports that the German authorities (or German tabloids) have direct contact with The Sun tabloid in the UK, to convey information to the British public about the German convict, Christian Brueckner.
The Sun tabloid have proved to be staunch supporters of the McCanns over the years. One past reporter of all things McCann, oneTracey Kandohla, was said to be a personal friend, even though she no longer reports for The Sun, her legacy continues under the guise of a number of other reporters, in particular one Nick Pisa.
Curious indeed to think a leading authority in the German legal system would talk directly and so openly, to a British tabloid about internal affairs.
I have always believed this Brueckner business to be total fabrication - nothing has happened over the months to make me think otherwise. I'll wager the McCanns are working quietly behind the scenes - in short, responsible (directly or indirectly) for this latest prolonged farce.
Brueckner is an ideal candidate to keep the saga rumbling on indefinitely. He's in prison, he can't tell his story to the press for a price, he can't defend himself - his is the perfect patsy. Amen!
Face it, if the German authorities have anything connecting Brueckner to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, they wouldn't be fart-arsing about, scraping about looking for evidence or a base for an interrogation. They would be straight for the jugular, in more ways than one.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
I can't help thinking that the whole charade involving CB might have been cleverly and deliberately orchestrated to thoroughly and finally eliminate him from any involvement. This story has gone full circle from sensational to soggy, so much so that we are all still sitting firmly on our chairs and will continue to do so. The McCann's reaction and their denial of even having received a letter are what I think are bizarre here. After all, if credible suspects in the disappearance of your daughter are what you've been on a mission to find these last 13 years, (no stone unturned and all that) why would you fail to acknowledge or react to such a potential groundbreaking and convincing lead? Surely you'd be beating a path to the door of whoever sent it to you demanding to know all there is to know. When this tissue of lies disintegrates further and there turns out to be zero evidence to incriminate CB in the disappearance of MM let alone anything concrete maybe the public will no longer thunkhedunnit too. But of course, there is no one else left. Or is there?

Absolutely correct. Just imagine what would have happened if the Netflix production had looked at another scenario, or raised questions about . . .
It would have been Carter-Rucked, and 'whooshed'. Never to be seen again.
But it didn't. It put out the same old story, even though it had to rely on overt falsehoods and downright lies from people like Clarke. [see Chapters 29-34, 36-38]

The McClowns over on Twitter are promoting the idea that a phone ping places Bruckner outside the OC on May 3rd.
Can we find out when the first mast was installed in PDL, I think that it may have been 2010 and if so, that puts their false claims to rest.
I may wrong of course but I will post a link.
https://www.portugalresident.com/residents-anger-at-second-mast-in-praia-da-luz/
Residents in the Vila Serena residential area of Praia da Luz have been left baffled by the erection of a second communications mast near their homes.
The new mast, which has been installed in the middle of a roundabout just 40 to 50 metres away from another one put up last year, is causing great distress among local residents.
They have previously fought to win the right to have the first mast erected close to their homes removed, however, a year later it is still there.
Local resident Luís Cardoso told the Algarve Resident how he and other residents had been working to have the mast placed last year removed: “We received a letter from Lagos Câmara declaring that the mast would be removed from where it currently stands.”
The registered letter from Lagos Câmara stated that “it is with compliments that the President of the Câmara informs you that the equipment referred to (the antenna) will be removed.”
The antenna was due to be taken down in May 2010 but it is still there.
According to residents, Lagos Câmara had sent an order to Telcabo, the communications company responsible for the placement of the mast, to remove the mast within 15 days.
Meanwhile, the second communications mast, which was erected nearby early this month, has been disguised to look like a giant palm tree.
Luís Cardoso added: “I am not happy and neither are the residents of the area. We wish we didn’t have any masts here but now we have two! I do hope the original one is removed very soon as per the Câmara’s order. I was informed by the workers that the mast is coming down as it was planned, but we don’t know when.
“This new mast in the shape of a palm tree is not so aesthetically bad, but it is double the size of the previous one. We are not going to protest against this one because it is not worth it. It would involve courts and lawyers and we would not win the case this time.”
Local resident John Dickenson told the Algarve Resident: “The fake palm tree that they have put up in the roundabout is twice the height of the antenna that they will take down.
“Placing it in the centre of a roundabout is also not the best of ideas as it is more likely that people will crash into it there.”He added: “While it is a good idea to try and disguise the antenna, it is so huge that it almost needs a warning on top of it to stop planes crashing into it. It really is ridiculous and looks absolutely obscene.”
Lagos Mayor Júlio Barroso told the Algarve Resident on Wednesday: “The mast erected in 2010 at Vila Serena was ordered to be removed as it was too close to houses and was not licensed. The new mast is to replace the original one and has now been installed in a nearby roundabout. It is licensed and follows all the legal requirements.”
The Mayor went on to say that if Telcabo does not remove the original mast in the coming days, then Câmara employees would do it themselves.
The Algarve Resident tried to obtain a comment from Telcabo, but no one was available at the time of going to press.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
As far as I'm aware, this information stems from media reports alone - media reports emanating from German tabloids and alleged quotes from Herr Wolters. It would appear cybernaughty super sleuths have carefully woven this into the PJ case files to suggest something that just doesn't exist. Clutching at straws so to speak.

Helpful or not I can't say.

To summarise, the phone call made to Christian Brueckner on 3rd May is not sufficient to place him in the vicinity of the Ocean Club. And even if he was nearby, there are many valid reasons for that.

Madeleine McCann police in push to find 'missing piece of jigsaw' to snare main suspect
EXCLUSIVE: German and Portuguese investigators are planning to carry out new interviews of key witnesses in the Algarve who knew paedophile Christian Brueckner, who was announced as the prime suspect last year

Police probing Madeleine McCann’s disappearance are launching a push to find the “missing piece of the jigsaw” that could snare the main suspect.
German and Portuguese investigators are to carry out new interviews of key witnesses in the Algarve who knew paedophile Christian Brueckner.
Experts described it as “a very important step forward” and raised hopes it could lead to Brueckner being quizzed and even charged.
A second top-level summit between German, British and Portuguese detectives is also expected to take place in Lisbon this spring.
Prosecutors hope a new clue will give them what they need to directly question Brueckner about the case.
He was named as the prime suspect last year but is yet to be quizzed about her 2007 disappearance.
Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year term in a prison in Hanover for raping a pensioner in Praia da Luz in 2005.
A well-placed source said: “The police have already put some witnesses on standby to sit down for new interviews.
"There is a real sense of new year, new hunt for clues. It’s very much in everyone’s minds to get the case cracked.
“There’s a missing piece of the jigsaw still out there somewhere.”
VANISHED
A secret summit took place in Lisbon last summer between detectives from Scotland Yard, the Policia Judiciaria and Bundeskriminalamt.
They met to “fine-tune” Brueckner’s profile in a bid to discover where Madeleine’s body could be buried.
German detectives have also spent time quizzing key witnesses in the Algarve, including Mr Brueckner’s British ex-girlfriend.
Madeleine vanished from her parents’ holiday apartment at the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz in May 2007.
Parents Gerry and Kate McCann had left the three-year-old alone with her twin siblings while they dined with friends at the nearby tapas restaurant.
German authorities say they are sure Brueckner abducted and murdered her but have declined to say what evidence they have.
Prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters recently admitted that without new clues, the 43-year-old will never be quizzed over Madeleine.
Brueckner’s lawyer Friedrich Fulscher insists that the German has nothing to do with the youngster’s disappearance.
The McCanns, of Rothley, Leicestershire, have refused to give up hope that she could still be alive.

Police in Germany investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are set to interview witnesses who knew suspect Christian Brueckner.
German and Portuguese investigators will carry out a series of interviews in a new push to find the 'missing piece of the jigsaw', the Mirror reports.
It is hoped that interviews with a number of people in the Algarve who knew main suspect Christian Brueckener, 43, could help snare the paedophile.
Experts see the new interviews as a step forward in the investigation and are hopeful they will lead to Brueckner himself being questioned and possibly charged.
A source told the Mirror: 'There is a real sense of new year, new hunt for clues. It's very much in everyone's minds to get the case cracked.
'There's a missing piece of the jigsaw still out there somewhere.'
On top of the new interviews, a second top-level summit between German, British and Portuguese police is also expected to be held this year.
A secret summit was already held by the three police services last summer to 'fine-tune' Brueckner's profile after he emerged as a suspect.
However, Brueckner has not been questioned by any police service about Madeleine's disappearance in 2007.
Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, on Portugal's Algarve, on May 3, 2007.
Brueckner was told last November that he will remain behind bars until 2026, after losing a bid to overturn a rape conviction.
He was last year found guilty of the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old American woman in the same Portuguese resort and sentenced to seven years in a Hanover jail, at a court in Brunswick, Lower Saxony.
The 43-year-old German national - referred to as Christian B in Germany due to the country's strict privacy laws - was identified as a suspect in the Madeleine investigation last June.
Madeleine was nearly four when she went missing from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, on Portugal's Algarve, on May 3, 2007.
In December, Scotland Yard confirmed it has no plans to end its missing person investigation, despite the belief of German prosecutors that Madeleine was murdered.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
Give me strength, how many more times is this rollox going to be churned out - it is a reiteration of last years news, nothing new.
As a reminder, the German police are not investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, they are investigating a German national with a string of serious crimes under his belt - allegedly.
The PJ thoroughly investigated all avenues within the first year following Madeleine McCann's reported disappearance, in line with routine policing - to question their integrity is nothing short of a criminal act in itself.
According to tabloid reports, the German authorities have already blitzed everyone the German suspect knew at, or around, the time of Madeleine McCann's disappearance. They've already donned their jack boots and rummaged about Europe in quest of the Holy Grail - the elusive missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle.
Give it a rest.
Still, I guess it keeps the focus off the prime suspects ..

MADDIE HOPE Madeleine McCann prosecutor says he’s ‘hopeful of clarifying her disappearance’

A GERMAN prosecutor investigating a convicted paedo’s links to Madeleine McCann yesterday said he remains “hopeful of clarifying her disappearance”.
But Hans Christian Wolters says he does not have enough evidence to charge Christian B with her killing.
Christian B, 44 — in jail for rape — was identified by German cops as their main suspect in the McCann case last year.
Madeleine was three in 2007 when snatched from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
Cops have also linked Christian B to a tour rep’s rape nearby in 2004.
Mr Wolters said: “We remain hopeful we can clarify the disappearance of Madeleine.
"We have several cases against the suspect and hope to conclude them shortly.’’

What sort of journalistic nonsense is this? Firstly, how can it be an 'exclusive' when it's reporting the same information that's been repeated for months and secondly .... 'We remain hopeful we can clarify the disappearance of Madeleine' ?
That ship has long since sailed Mr Pisa, it was well and truly clari'fied in the summer of 2007.

'DON'T WISH ON ANYONE' Madeleine McCann suspect’s campervan was bought by car dealer who says he wished ‘he’d never got caught up in case’

A MAN who bought Madeleine McCann's suspect's campervan says he wished "he'd never got caught up in the case."
The car dealer, identified as Peter W, has spoken for the first time after he got roped into the missing person investigation.
Peter W bought the vehicle - bringing him into the Maddie investigation Credit: PA:Press Association
In 2015, the man, from Regensburg, southern Germany, bought a campervan from Christian Brueckner.
Peter W paid £5,000 for the yellow and white Volkswagen T3 Westfalia in the Algarve, Portugal.
He told the Mirror: “I got involved in something I had never thought of and I don’t wish on anyone”.
Cops seized the vehicle from Peter W’s scrapyard, and have since sent it for forensic tests in Germany - believing it may lead to clues on Madeleine's disappearance.
Maddie McCann police are now reportedly launching a push to find the "missing piece of the jigsaw" they hope could snare the main suspect.
German and Portuguese detectives are to carry out new interviews of key witnesses in the Algarve who knew paedophile Christian B.
Experts have described it as "a very important step forward" and raised hopes it could lead to him being interviewed and even charged, reports the Mirror.
MADDIE PROBE
It comes as German, British and Portuguese detectives are expected to be meeting in Lisbon this spring.
It is hoped quizzing key witnesses will unearth a new clue. This would finally give them the right to directly question Christian B about the case.
He has never been quizzed about her 2007 disappearance after being named a prime suspect last year.
Currently, he is serving a seven-year term in a prison in Hanover for raping a pensioner in Praia da Luz in 2005, which was the same resort that Madeleine went missing.
It's also been reported he is to be moved to a maximum security prison ahead of the questioning they hope to carry out.
Until then, officers say they will continue to "work day and night" to find the evidence they need to solve the mystery.
A source close to the case told the Sun Online: "German officers had hoped that, by now, they would have found the missing pieces of the jigsaw which they need to link (Christian B) to the disappearance of Madeleine.
“But they remain as determined as ever and there will absolutely not let up in the New Year.
"The German police will not be taking their foot off the gas."

£5,000 just five years ago and seized from the scrap yard ? I wouldn't have given him £500 five years ago in road worthy condition.
I'm guessing Peter W can't be named for legal reasons - or maybe because folk might start asking very awkward questions about the validity of this ridiculous story.

A MAN who bought Madeleine McCann's suspect's campervan says he wished "he'd never got caught up in the case."
The car dealer, identified as Peter W, has spoken for the first time after he got roped into the missing person investigation.

£5,000 just five years ago and seized from the scrap yard ? I wouldn't have given him £500 five years ago in road worthy condition.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
I wonder why the German detectives are convinced Brueckner used the VW when he had at least 2 other vehicles.
They shipped it back to Germany for forensic tests and found nothing.
He also had the 30ft long Winnebago according to the father of Nicole Fehlinger.
Brueckner reportedly told him " It was easy to transport children and drugs in it".
I would think this Winnebago has been through the same forensics as the other vehicles owned by Brueckner.
It seems the only thing they do have on him, is the phone call made near to Praia da Luz on the 3rd May 2007.
Still waiting to fall off my chair.

Re: Christian Brueckner: To be or not to be
According to the dpa the German press agency Brückner was already transferred to Wölfenbuttel JVA Prison on 23.12.20.
The Video of him using the Van in the weeks before Maddies disappearance matches the timings of the ‘Trip of your Life’ competition run by German radio. All relative posts from the Contestants at the time on the Radio website have been deleted.
But the Sun and Daily Mail definitely appear to be constantly supplied with ‘information from a source close to’ someone or other.
