Re: Cop who led initial hunt for Madeleine McCann vows to 'clean out' her parents.
Taken from another thread on this forum, this list of adjectives used to describe Amaral and Portuguese citizens, was compiled by winnower, but am posting it here in full:
The most recent example of the outrageous treatment of Dr. Amaral is the BBC broadcast claiming he had said "F*** the McCanns". Native Portuguese claim that Amaral actually said "'Não, força aos McCanns" "Ask the McCanns" in response to a reporter's questions. (GONCALO AMARAL DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH - a fact widely reported.)
UPDATE:
ECU Ruling: East Midlands Today, BBC1 (East Midlands),
12 January 2011
Publication date: 30 May 2011
Complaint
The programme included a brief exchange between a reporter and
Gonçalo Amaral (a former policeman who had worked on the
disappearance of Madeleine McCann and had since written a book on
the case). One word in the exchange was bleeped, and the report gave
the impression that this was because Sr Amaral had used offensive
language about the MrCanns. A viewer complained that this was
inaccurate and unfair to Sr Amaral.
Outcome
The reporter’s belief, reinforced by others on the programme team
who viewed the recording, was that Sr Amaral had indeed used an
English phrase which included an offensive term applied to the
McCanns. On further examination, however, it became clear that Sr
Amaral had been speaking Portuguese, and that an inoffensive phrase
had been misconstrued. Upheld
Further action
The Editor of the programme has discussed the outcome with the
producer and reporter involved. In future, the team plans to use
interpreters if clips from interviews are unclear.

The McCann family suffer another setback in hunt for Maddie
The McCann family has suffered yet another setback in their hunt for Maddie as a Portuguese detective pursues legal action.
© Provided by Associated News
Goncalo Amaral, who led the original search for the missing toddler, has said he intends to ‘clean out’ her parents Kate and Gerry by suing them, alleging that they damaged his reputation.
57-year-old Amaral wrote a book about the abduction, claiming that Madeleine’s parents were in fact responsible for her death, writing that she died at their Praia de Luz apartment, and that Kate and Gerry proceeded to cover it up.
© Provided by Associated News
The McCann’s took a libel case against the detective and won in 2015, however the decision was subsequently appealed and upheld in another court, meaning he can now counter-sue.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘Amaral holds the key to making life financially very tough for the McCanns. He has told friends he intends to do just that. He wants to squeeze every penny he possibly can out of them, clean them out. He has no shame at all.’
© Provided by Associated News
Meanwhile, Amaral is said to be penning a second book about Maddie’s disappearance.
This May will mark the tenth anniversary of the three-year-old’s abduction.
Scotland Yard were allocated further funding this year to continue investigations into the case until at least October.

I watched a documentary recently, "Confessions of the Paparazzi" (channel 4) which followed George Bamby around. Very ofteb he would stalk celebrities and 'set them up'. The celebrity story that sticks in mind mind is that he got his side-kick to run over to Richard and Judy to ask then to sign a book from their book club. After they had obliged, the side-kick handed Judy a bottle of red wine ......... and 'click' 'click' 'click' went the camera. He cropped out his side-kick and sent the photos to news outlets declaring that he had seen them in the local park drinking, and Judy had a drink problem.
Bamby openly talked about 'fake news' and just sees it as a way of earning a living.

Re: Cop who led initial hunt for Madeleine McCann vows to 'clean out' her parents.
Several years ago acting as spokesperson for a national charity I was misquoted in one of the daily papers, it made the charity look bad so I complained to the editor who refused to print an apology, I learned a valuable lesson and ensured I double checked what they wanted and recorded my conversations to them and got written confirmation of what they would print, these actions came in very useful when Kilroy did the dirty on us, we used the evidence to take him to the broadcasting complaints commission and won. The press only let the public see what they want them to see, the McCanns knew what they were doing when they hired Clarence

I don't think the McCanns hired Mitchell - I think he was 'provided' by the establishment .suespeaking wrote: The press only let the public see what they want them to see, the McCanns knew what they were doing when they hired Clarence
Curious thing is, despite his highly paid position as a representative of the UK government's media monitoring unit and later a highly paid employee of the double glazing magnate, Brian Kennedy, still negative reports were regularly featured in the UK press about the McCanns.
Never quite been able to get my head around that .
Then again - they were awarded substantial compensation through out of court settlements just like Robert Murat - mmmm that would most likely explain it!

Re: Cop who led initial hunt for Madeleine McCann vows to 'clean out' her parents.
It is going on by both sides. The late Jade Goody admitted that she sold fake stories about herself whenever she needed money or a new car. Reality tv folk are notorious for selling fake stories about themselves. Most people can see it's set up photos and stories but for some strange reason they still get lapped up by the readers. This is 21st century journalism for you.

"How might her (Madeleine) life, and Kate and Gerry’s, have been different had fate put a decent cop in charge?"
------------------------------------------------
A 'decent' cop?
How well has that gone then?
Ex 'Gold' Commander at SY, Simon Foy, ex Detective Superintendent Hamish Campbell, ex DCI A Redwood, current DCI N Wall, DS M Duthie.........all, I'm sure, 'vastly experienced, decent cops' investigating Madeleine's 'disappearance' for 6 YEARS, who have 'admitted' that 'we do not have a full understanding of what happened to Madeleine'
So, how 'different', for Madeleine, have 'these' decent cops, actually been, 'in charge'?

I expect the gruesome twosome think it's jolly 'decent' indeed of Operation Grange cops to avoid investigating them, especially since red flags abound over their abduction story, and the CSI blood and cadaver dogs alerted to all things McCann!
