Hunt for Maddie McCann could be shelved within THREE WEEKS: Missing girl’s parents fear search may end abruptly as funding runs out with no new leads
.
The parents of Madeleine McCann fear the costly police hunt into their daughter's disappearance could be shelved within three weeks by the new Home Secretary.
As funding is set to run out at the end of this month it has been revealed that detectives have still failed to unearth any significant clues during their latest trips to Portugal.
Maddie was snatched as a toddler from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007.
As yet no fresh request has yet been made for more money from the Home Office, as another 'D Day' looms for embattled Kate and Gerry.
A source close to the couple from Rothley, Leicestershire, said today: 'They have been here before. They simply have no idea if the search will abruptly come to an end or will carry on. It is a daunting prospect they face once more.'
Police officers on the scaled down Operation Grange inquiry have secretly continued to visit the Algarve searching for possible clues to Maddie's whereabouts but are believed not to be any step closer to finding her abductor.
The source added: 'Kate and Gerry are grateful to the Metropolitan Police for everything they have done over the years and hope of course that the inquiry into their daughter's abduction will continue if more funds are requested and made available.'
The probe into Maddie's abduction was granted £150,000 more funding by the Home Office in March.
More than £11million has been spent so far on the probe to find the missing girl, who vanished 11-and-a-half years ago, and the investigation has repeatedly come under fire.
Since being launched in May 2011, officers have sifted (and translated) 40,000 documents produced by Portuguese police who conducted the initial investigation, and by the eight teams of private detectives who have worked on the case.
Some 600 'persons of interest' have been examined and 'sightings' of Madeleine — in Brazil, India, Morocco and Paraguay, on a German plane and in a New Zealand supermarket — assessed.
The Portuguese investigation of Madeleine's disappearance was criticised by the British authorities as being not fit for purpose.
Detectives believe she was stolen by child traffickers, sex fiends or during a burglary gone wrong.
In May, her parents posted a poignant tribute to mark their daughter's 15th birthday - telling her: 'We love you and we're waiting for you and we're never going to give up.'
Gerry and his wife Kate wrote 'Happy 15th Birthday Madeleine!' on the official Find Madeleine Campaign Facebook page.
The message accompanied a cherished last photo of her as a three-year-old, smiling under a wide-brimmed sun hat and is posted alongside a green and yellow ribbon symbolising hope, strength and solidarity.

So possibly shelved again...no further on than when they first started.
Still leaves there version or GAs....on what happened to maddie.
Ido believe GA...if not removed would have solved it .
SY imo looked in all the wrong places....they should have started with the mccs and c/o
They can always remortgage there house...if the mcs want to the search to continue.
They are always happy though leaving it to other people ...using other peoples money imo

Re: Hunt for Maddie McCann could be shelved within THREE WEEKS: Missing girl’s parents fear search may end abruptly as funding runs out with no new leads
Any Home Office agreement always comes right down to the wire, based on previous press reports, but due to the sensitivity of any reported requests, they are no doubt discussed and nodded through before any formal request is submitted.
At the beginning of April we had:
‘Home Office last week confirmed Scotland Yard would get extra funds – understood to be £150,000 – to chase a vital ‘final line of inquiry’
so they must really be struggling for a reason to justify anything further this time.
The nonsense in the Sunday papers this week, which tried to suggest that something was still going on, related to visits in March & May 2017.
They desperately need another ‘breakthrough lead’ to continue this farce, if we are to have a final, final, final, final,(not sure how many ‘finals’ we’ve had so far) line of inquiry, unless they just come out with a woolly 'still chasing the vital final line' bullshit.
Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get round closing it by saying they are keeping it open in case further information comes to light, but taking it back within Scotland Yard’s day-to-day funding in view of the low level of activity presently needed.
In that way they can still refuse FOI requests and demands for an inquiry into the whole shenanigans, under the ‘ongoing inquiries’ banner.

That's all this has ever been - a £7m 'operation' in tactical obfuscation.

Tom Davidson in The Mirror, whilst attributing his copy-article to The Mail adds this snippet to the story:

It means Kate and Gerry McCann face another 'D-Day' where they fear the search for their daughter, codenamed Operation Grange, could be indefinitely suspended in the absence of fresh information.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/madeleine-mccann-search-could-shelved-13224719
Probably no actual source for this, but ‘indefinitely suspended’ rather than ‘closed’ retains the necessary level of protection for the Met.

instead of facing another "D-Day" why don't they face an L-Day and get cracking on that letter to Portugal. No more worries about poor little Maddie not being looked for then? Get on and do it and why don't they sychophantic press say this?
SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP OR PUT UP the whole lot of em.

Ref, Hunt for Madeleine
No comments from the"Circumlocation One",Cambridge Analytca" must have taken its toll on him or the Channel Four Journalist who nailed him to the mast,Captain Pugwash style?
They could come up with a New name for when they move from Belgravia Police Station, which fits nicely with Operation Grange,"The Lying Squad",think that would catch on with all of the previous, deceitful investigations covered Up?
Wasn't every person Taught as a child,"If you are ever in trouble,Find a Police Officer to Help You,you can trust them",now quite how much of that statement remain's True,is now down to the Individual Officer you speak to?
Or you could undertake Conservative MP,Chief Whip,Tim Fortescue,in trouble with children,Money, come to us,we'll earn "Brownie Points/Blackmail you forever" message, glad that was captured on video for posterity!
Child abuse,Elm Guest House,Monday Club,Islington,Lambeth,Richmond Borough Council's,child abuse?
But Heaven Forbid a Cover Up Preposterous Man?
All those News Paper Editors who had stories confiscated/Evidence about the Netherlands,Child trafficking,Pornography,MP's left on buses with elite members of society must have been,"Fake News" that could damage a person's reputation,so it was far better to suppress it to safe hands of MI5/6 Officers?

Re: Hunt for Maddie McCann could be shelved within THREE WEEKS: Missing girl’s parents fear search may end abruptly as funding runs out with no new leads
The Met have reportedly stopped investigating over 30,000 cases this year alone and yet here we have the sychophantic press reporting about this case. Millions spent on looking for one child and yet UK citizens can burger off and live in this lawless land without crime being investigated.
Wait until Winter when we see the NHS buckle We will have plenty of media stories about how awful it is but NOBODY will do a darn thing about it.
Why aren't MPs demanding answers? Why aren't the unions demanding money be spent on their members and their families? Why are the UK putting up with it? Who knows, but something has to change. We are being laughed at too much now imo.

EXCLUSIVE: Funding for the search for Madeleine - who vanished from her family's holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007 when she was three - is set to run out in three weeks
Kate and Gerry McCann have vowed “the search will go on” for their missing girl amid reports police could shelve their hunt.
Funding for Scotland Yard’s bid to find Madeleine is set to run out in three weeks and no request for more cash from the Home Office has been made as yet.
Kate and Gerry may continue the hunt by using money from Madeleine’s Fund, set up after their daughter vanished from their holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007, when she was three.
A source said: “Whatever happens, the search will go on. If the police search comes to an end, there are other avenues to explore.”
One option is employing private investigators.
Over £11million has gone on Operation Grange, the Met probe set up in 2011 after Portuguese police ended their inquiry.
The Home Office granted Scotland Yard £154,000 in March to extend the investigation for six months.
A spokesman for the McCanns, both 50 and from Rothley, Leics, said: “They remain incredibly grateful to the police. They hope the Scotland Yard investigation continues and that more funding is granted.”

The daily September bullshit continues, but quite how Fricker can stick an ‘exclusive’ label on this crap is a complete mystery.
Never fear though, ‘One option is employing private investigators’; the Mc’s have always been good at that!

Madeleine McCann probe cops ask for more cash after 11 years and £11m as funding to run out in three weeks
MADDIE HUNT
Madeleine McCann probe cops ask for more cash after 11 years and £11m as funding to run out in three weeks
A request for fresh cash from the Home Office has been made over fears the operation’s funding will run out by the end of the month
Detectives are said to be in “dialogue” with the government to get a cash injection, the Daily Star reports.
Four-year-old Maddie disappeared while on holiday with her family in Portugal in May 2007.
But despite a global search, there has been no significant clues as to what could have happened.
Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry have maintained their daughter is still alive and are now fighting for funding as they fear the investigation could be wound-up in face of police cuts.
However, detectives believe they they can crack the case.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman told the Star: “The investigation continues and we are in dialogue with the Home Office over more funding.”
The Home Office said it had not yet received a formal request for further cash, but a bid would be “carefully considered”.
A source close to the family said the McCann's have "no idea" if the search will end or carry on.
They told MailOnline: "It is a daunting prospect they face once more."
"Kate and Gerry are grateful to the Metropolitan Police for everything they have done over the years and hope of course that the inquiry into their daughter's abduction will continue if more funds are requested and made available."
It comes after it was revealed detectives involved in the case have been secretly visiting Portugal in the past year.
Five return flights were booked to the country, where the toddler from Leicestershire disappeared in 2007, Met Police documents revealed.
Officers have also poured through 40,000 documents filed by Portuguese officials who have been involved in the investigation.
Maddie was three when she disappeared from a holiday apartment in the Algarve region of Portugal while her parents dined with friends nearby.
She disappeared on the evening of May 3 from her bed in a holiday apartment in Rua Dr Agostinho da Silva, Praia da Luz, where she had been sleeping with her brother and sister.
She would have turned 15 on on May 12, 2018.
A number of potential leads have emerged since the little girl vanished, but none amounted to anything and no arrests have ever been made.
In 2010, Maddie’s distraught parents met with then-home secretary Theresa May to talk about the hunt for their daughter.
The following year, Scotland Yard launched its own review, named Operation Grange, into the case at the behest of the future PM.

Stop any more funding and let the PJ reopen the case.and let them take over.Unfortunately IMO that will never happen,as the continuation of the UK "INVESTIGATION "for want of better words gives the tapas 9 insulation from any further re-questioning etc.suespeaking wrote:11 Million and still they have not questioned the last witnesses i.e. parents and friends!!!!!!!!

'WE WON'T GIVE UP'
Kate and Gerry McCann ‘may hire private detectives again if Met abandons Maddie search’
The little girl disappeared when she was just a toddler while her parents were on holiday in Portugal more than a decade ago, sparking a global hunt

MADELEINE McCann's parents could hire private detectives again to find their daughter if authorities abandon the search.
Kate and Gerry promised "we will continue the search for our little girl - we couldn’t bear for her to be forgotten" as a request for fresh cash from the Home Office was made.
But Kate and Gerry’s family spokesperson Clarence Mitchell said the family would consider other options if the request for funding was knocked back.
He said: "Whether funding is extended next month to allow the investigation to continue, or not, is entirely a matter for the Metropolitan Police and Home Office.
"If no extra funding is neither sought nor approved they will never give up searching and hoping. They have their own public fund set up in their daughter’s name which they would use to explore alternative avenues.
"One option would be to employ their own team of private investigators again although their powers for search and interrogation aren’t on the same par as detectives."
More than £11million has been spent on the probe to find Maddie after the three-year-old disappeared while on holidays with her family in Portugal more than a decade ago.
But despite the global search, there has been no significant clues as to what could have happened with Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry continually fighting for more funding.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the force is "in dialogue regarding future funding" with the Home Office.
A Home Office spokesman said: "To date no request has been received from the Metropolitan Police Service to extend funding for Operation Grange beyond the end of September 2018."
The department said any request for further funding by the Metropolitan Police will be "carefully considered".
Controversial Op Grange can only continue if a request for extra cash is applied for and approved.
As yet no fresh plea from the Yard for more money had been made as another “D Day” looms for embattled Kate and Gerry. The last £154,000 handout, on top of previous others, was made at the start of April.
It comes after it was revealed detectives involved in the case have been secretly visiting Portugal in the past year.

It got stuck on £11m some years ago. There was a very brief period when it elevated to £12m but instantly reverted.Jill Havern wrote:Hunt for Maddie McCann has cost £11,600,000 so far

11 million and still no evidence of an abductor or abduction.
As an aside, who is grateful to police for NOT finding their missing child?

Yes of course they are , especially when the Met have ruled them out and not pulled them in for questioning , cos the " incompetent sardine munchers " did that didn't they , so no need for us to bother eh ? We'll just keep harping on about woman in purple , final lead ( no dogs attached of course !" ) , while the remaining cops sit in the broom cupboard with a packet of Hobnobs ( sorry couldn't resist !) and the coffee machine and the invisible silent DCI Wall plays sudoku waiting for a promotion or retirement .

It is not the Mets (or SY) responsibility to "pull them in for questioning" as the Portuguese have the primary role in this case.
The UK agencies long ago started the process of winding their own investigation down and it is only a matter of time before it will be quietly shelved altogether. The fact that the Portuguese still have the case open (and the McCanns as not innocent) is a thorn in their side.

Hunt for Madeleine
As A/C Mark Rowley eloquently stated,he was there,"to Assist the McCann's",are these people Royalty,Landed gentry with different rules applicable or to be held above the "Common Laws" bestowed to millions of people, not suspects, alongside the Tapas Cohorts?sandancer wrote:Hobs wrote:11 million and still no evidence of an abductor or abduction.

Is their something wrong with the "thought process" of our elected MP's,that these people can indefinitely state,"One final line of Inquiry",time and time again, without becoming a laughing stock to people from other Continents,"Cognitive Dissonance", the Ostrich Syndrome,I can't see,I'v got my head in the sand?
Your all involved in the cover Up and you know it,your only trying to kid yourself and you'll wake up in a wonderful Palace, called the Bridewell or we could bring back the stocks for special occasions?
No wonder the"Den of Inequity" is falling down with all of the states necessity to cover Up the Crimes form the past, all those Leathered seats holding the well packed pages of evidence, for their shiny arses to slide about on,by god a bit of parchment paper cut through my pants, ssh, send us the bill, put it on the expenses sheet?

Hunt for Madeleine?
Hi Polyenne,so its like a game of Chess, where neither side wants to lose face, you close first then we'll follow?polyenne wrote:It is not the Mets (or SY) responsibility to "pull them in for questioning" as the Portuguese have the primary role in this case.

But what if Portugal publish their findings and come to the same conclusion as the first investigation,McCann's Not cleared/innocent of involvement in Madeleine's disappearance?
Then the UK sit on their evidence,Non disclosure, which is their right on a still live case?
Which would beg a further question, why have you left it open, but yo can't solve it or don't wish to solve it,because you already know what has happened and it doesn't fit in with your original Remit?
Your back to a Cover Up scenario?
