HERO OF THE DAY
A thread I thought I would start to pay respects and gratitude to all those who have devoted their time and energy over the past ten years to the name of Madeleine McCann.
Who better to kick off the show than Goncalo Amaral a hero personified, a man who has endured personal hardship at the hands of the McCann team of campaigners - all because he was trying to solve the case of a missing child by the name of Madeleine McCann. A child so seriously let down by those who should really care - her parents!
I've pinched this image from Tony's post over yonder because it says it all in my opinion..
Bravo Mr Amaral - I wish you health, happiness, contentment and prosperity. You've earned it a million times over, you've survived the challenge and come out tops as a true hero.
NB: Please, I'm not starting another thread dedicated to Mr Amaral - this is for recognition of the good people who interest themselves in true justice.

Good for you Verdi
As tnb said on the other thread, let's not forget Leanne Baulch who took the initiative to start the GoFundMe page so that Dr Amaral could celebrate this day.
Nine years of absolute hell he's been through, and I hope he knows we're still here for him and will donate all over again if we need to.
Three cheers for Leanne Baulch

The Madeleine Foundation and Joana Morais were at one time, the only venues I used to express my opinion. Despite following the case from the beginning, I knew nothing of the 3As or the Mirror forum.

Arifmatics is not my strong point - I only have to look at 1 + 4 and I get confused. I'm always grateful to those who take the time to present their specialist subject (sounds like Mastermind :) in lay terms.
Muchos-gracias Enid O'Dowd!

The great result from Lisbon for Dr Amaral won't help me at all.
The decision made by the Portuguese Supreme Court applies to Portugal only, and does not apply to other countries covered by the European Court of Human Rights. It was also decided on special facts which apply to Dr Amaral and not to me.
Amaral was the investigation co-ordinator; he was familiar with all the main facts of the case; and besides that, he had been mercilessly attacked by sections of the press in both Portugal and elsewhere - and the court felt he had every right to defend himself from those attacks.
Britain is known to have some of the most draconian libel laws in the world, despite our reputation as a country of free speech. These laws have become much more oppressive in recent decades, due to the efforts of one man - the late Peter Carter-Ruck. There's an article about him on the forum.
That is why rats and out-and-out liars like Lance Armstrong, Lord Archer and Gordon Anglesea (senior police officer recently convicted of abusing boys at Bryn Estyn Children's Home) secured massive libel payouts from our High Court, otherwise known as the Royal Courts of 'Justice'.
Fear of losing a ruinous libel action also stopped several British newspapers from exposing what they knew about Jmumy Savile's activities - long before he died.
And that same fear forced me to sign all those undertakings back in November 2009.
Still, looking on the bright side, my standing order payment of £125.00 to Carter-Ruck in January was my 45th so far, so that's another £5,625 paid off.
So only 75 more payments to go, another £9,375 more to pay, last payment due on 25 April 2023.
If I die before then, the McCanns have the legal right to claim the balance owing from my estate.

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Re: HERO OF THE DAY
I second Blue Bag's sentiment, Tony. I hope you have all your money back plus costs in the not too distant future.
To this day that entire case pivots on your killer question, eloquently amplified to the court by Lord Justice Tugendhat to the Carter-Ruck lawyer. Without looking up the exact quote, I believe it went: "What evidence do you have of an abduction?" ANSWER: "My clients told me."
Again, from memory, Lord Justice Tugendhat mused out loud on the circumstances surrounding the action, should it be proved at a later date that no abduction had taken place.

Allowing for the possibility they might occasionally make a mistake (i don't know the likelihood, I think it's small, they were well tested).JimbobJones wrote:The dogs don't lie.
I don't believe two dogs made so many mistakes with many locations and items in such a small time-frame.
There also didn't indicate anything unusual outside a certain scenario (they were shown lots of items, other cars etc...)
Britain certainly has talent.

Absolute atrocity..... somewhat angered to learn that this debt will remain with you for life. It is just as well you are a man of strong religious faith. I am sure you have had to face the feelings that injustice brings, but know justice will be served 'one day' ......it wasn't the answer I expected, sorry to hear.

Today I nominate l-azzeri-lies-in-the-sun for all the hours spent producing such excellent analysis of just about every aspect of the curious protracted case.
Admittedly it was Get'emGoncalo's mention on another thread that reminded me.

Would be interesting to see what they would actually do if you do die, I don't mean that in a gruesome way or hoping you die, but I would like to see how far they would go for dollars
