When was it made?
I wonder if it was supposed to co-ordinate with the book and end of the trial but Channel 5 can't hang on any longer without it needing revising?

Is it usual for all these tv shows to be commenting on the case whilst two police forces are still investigating?
Pity Ben Needham's mother can't get as much publicity.
Just noticed on twitter someone pointed out that Frizzel is married to Fional Phillips, supporter of Mr. & Mrs.

Madeleine is a media obsession more than anything, and certain people have made sure about it, to keep it that way. Where are all the other in depth articles about missing children that have had such a ridiculously expensive investigation into their disappearances years after the event ongoingly? Where are all the other parents of missing children doing documentaries, face time on t.v. or in the MSM to the extent of this missing child case? Where are all the other parents of missing children that have been funded for millions of dollars in a fund for their missing child? Where are all the other parents of a missing child that have written books, sued an investigator in their case and others for libel? Where are all the other parents of a missing child that have hounded a person to their death by what they have an opinion of on the case of their missing child on the internet? Where are all the other parents of missing children that get faux celeb. status?
Why only the McCann's? Maybe the authorities etc. could tell the general public about Why?

And at what time?

It can't be that difficult to amend the spelling of Madeleine's name in the title - so why is it no longer available?

How sad that such mistakes can't be rectified, once they are published in a book. Maybe they could have altered the name "madeleine".Jamming wrote:Bless 'em, they've corrected it and put it back http://www.channel5.com/shows/madeleine-mccann-a-global-obsession

(but McCanns quite happy to leave, every night, their 3 kids, all under 4 years old, all alone, sleeping in their bedrooms, in their diliberately and consciously, left unlocked and unsecured holiday apartment, while they went, out of sight, to the local restaurant, in OC, PDL)

Oh well, as long as those who care for Madeleine point out it's important to spell her name correctly - that's with a capital M too, the media can get on with using Madeleine to make money.Jamming wrote:Bless 'em, they've corrected it and put it back http://www.channel5.com/shows/madeleine-mccann-a-global-obsession

Oh no.
Thanks for the warning.
It's obviously going to be yet another sickly McCann love-fest judging by the one doing the programme.
I wonder it the term 'haters' and 'trolls' will get an airing?
I'll be avoiding this one. I'd rather do all the ironing and hoovering.

Re: ANOTHER TV programme about Madeleine - Tuesday 18 November, 7pm, Channel 5 - 'Madeleine McCann: A Global Obsession'
Possibly because the McCann case is the only one with so many sceptics who won't stop asking awkward questions and analysing the obvious inconsistencies in the case because so many don't believe the parents, unlike in other cases, where the parents are believed. And of course, something else is gong on to warrant this unprecedented level of protection and interference on the part of the authorities. For some reason, they've got to suppress criticism and push the image they want the general public to believe. With the Internet factored in, these 'traditional' methods aren't working and I reckon the more they push their agenda, the more people are starting to question rather than just accept. How frustrating for them!Joss wrote:Madeleine is a media obsession more than anything, and certain people have made sure about it, to keep it that way. And i think that is the reason i have thought that this case is more about something else other than a missing child. It really bears no resemblance to any other missing child case that i have ever heard of, IMO.Brian Griffin wrote:Possibly because the McCann case is the only one with so many sceptics who won't stop asking awkward questions and analysing the obvious inconsistencies in the case because so many don't believe the parents, unlike in other cases, where the parents are believed. This is the tweet from the nasty McCann supporter 'Father Jack', whoever he is.
So, a 'family friend' put through a call to Martin Frizell, editor of GMTV?
Still doesn't tell us who this family friend was, nor when this call was made:

Re: ANOTHER TV programme about Madeleine - Tuesday 18 November, 7pm, Channel 5 - 'Madeleine McCann: A Global Obsession'
http://www.channel5.com/shows/madeleine-mccann-a-global-obsession
In this insightful documentary, journalist Martin Frizell – who broke the story in the UK in 2007 – analyses the unprecedented campaign run by Madeleineʼs parents Kate and Gerry McCann to keep their daughter in the public eye. Frizell traces both the positive and negative reactions that this campaign evoked and hears from the father of one seven-year-old boy who went missing exactly four years before Madeleine disappeared but quickly disappeared from the national news.
In May 2007, Frizell – then editor of GMTV, ITVʼs breakfast programme – took the unprecedented decision to put a call through to the studio from a family friend of the McCanns. A three-year-old
British girl had gone missing in the sleepy Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz and the family was distraught. By that afternoon, it was the leading news story on a number of channels.
The story quickly attracted intense global media interest, but within a matter of weeks that story changed dramatically as new angles dried up. Some journalists started to make up stories to keep interest alive and the McCanns even found them selves vilified in some quarters.
Madeleine McCann is the most famous missing person on earth, but why has the disappearance of this pretty little English girl gripped the world for so long.
The programme uncovers why the press may have behaved in the way that they did, examines the legal fallout and delves into why this tragic story continues to make headline news seven years on.

SNIPPETS
The Guardian, 02 June 2007, reports that: 'Jill Renwick has known the couple since they all worked together at a Glasgow hospital more than a decade ago. She spoke to Kate at 7am on the morning after Madeleine vanished: "She just said, 'Help me, please help me'. She said, 'We've been searching all night until 4.30am, and then everybody left us'. At that stage there was only one police officer at the door. They didn't know what to do. So I phoned GMTV."'
07:30am
David James Smith writes that: 'It is widely believed among the Portuguese media, and perhaps the police too, even now, that the McCanns called Sky News before they called the police. For the record, Sky News picked up the story from GMTV breakfast television, at around 7.30am the following day.'
[color:7b06=000000]Bridget O'Donnell writes that: 'The next morning, we made our way to breakfast and met one of the Doctors, the one who had come round in the night. His young daughter looked up at us from her pushchair. There was no news. They had called Sky television - they didn't know what else to do. He turned away and I could see he was going to weep.'
It also clearly states, from a first-hand account, that Sky Television were called directly with the news, contradicting previous reports that Sky picked up the story from GMTV. Sky News broadcast the 'Breaking News' at 07:38am.

Funny how Kate includes herself and Gerry in the 'searching all night' quote when she later went on to reveal that they didn't actually 'physically search.'
They were tired, you see - been extremely busy (WTF?)
And then it's interesting that she didn't go on to tell her friend that around 6am, just her and Gerry went out on their own 'searching.'
On their own.
Nobody with them.
According to Dave, one of my mates in the pub, this is when they went and moved the body to a more secure location.
Maybe Dave's hypothesis is correct.

Mary Nightingale:
"People say why don't the McCanns just shut up?"
"and I would say how can you stop talking about it when you've lost your child?"
-----------------------------------------------------
And there's the 'rub'!
They wouldn't have 'lost' her IF they had not left her alone, with two even younger siblings, diliberately and consciously, in a unlocked and unsecured apartment, out of their eyesight for at least 34 minutes, abroad, would they?
They wouldn't have 'lost' her if they had paid a babysitter, a few euros, to sit with the kids, would they?
Whose 'fault' do you think it is, Mary Nightingale, that Madeleine McCann is 'lost'?
Is it everyone 'elses' fault, she is 'lost'?
And certainly NOT the McCanns 'FAULT' she is 'lost'?
Just a quickie question for Mary Nightingale:
Why is it IMPOSSIBLE that the McCanns, or people they know, were NOT, and could not have been, 'involved', in any way, in Madeleine becoming, er, 'lost'?

You couldn't make this s*** up. Blame the papers pre Carter Ruck, who were only printing stories that were contained in the now public police files. They can kiss it, if they think people are going to fall the post Carter Ruck Clarence Mitchell bull.

Of course, the real 'rub' is that had it merely been a case of her being left alone with her younger siblings, she would have been alive and well today.

A stat for all the pro-media anchors etc such as Mary Nightingale that blindly support the Mcs as victims. 96% of children who go missing do so as a direct consequence of family or people they know. So until the Mcs & the T7 can definitely be ruled out, they should be ruled in. That's before you explore the PJ files BTW.jeanmonroe wrote:Mary Nightingale:

Whose 'fault' do you think it is, Mary Nightingale, that Madeleine McCann is 'lost'?
Is it everyone 'elses' fault, she is 'lost'?
And certainly NOT the McCanns 'FAULT' she is 'lost'?
Just a quickie question for Mary Nightingale:
Why is it IMPOSSIBLE that the McCanns, or people they know, were NOT, and could not have been, 'involved', in any way, in Madeleine becoming, er, 'lost'?

Spot on. I'm of the opinion that the T9 children weren't left alone on previous nights but hesitate to speculate as to who their 'childcare' actually was.Realist wrote:jeanmonroe wrote:

Well, there had to have been an element of neglect for the kidnapping theory to even take off, let alone fly.

Bridget O'Donnell writes that: 'The next morning, we made our way to breakfast and met one of the Doctors, the one who had come round in the night.
In my opinion.
