#madeleine Scot Yard officers arrived in Portugal today for second phase of investigation - interviewing suspects.
Martin stated that three cleaners of the OC will be interviewed as well as other suspects.

Scotland Yard is to begin questioning four formal suspects in the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, ITV News understands.
Officers will begin questioning the four people - identified as arguidos, meaning formal suspects - tomorrow at a police station in Faro, Portugal.
Eight key witnesses will also be questioned.
The four-year-old vanished while holidaying with her parents in Praia da Luz in 2007.

A few things on the above leaked article
1. Metropolitan Police can't question anyone, they can sit in on the interrogatories just like PJ did in April 2008 in UK
2. From past leaks, of unknown provenance, it's likely that the 8 witnesses are 5 former Ocean Club workers and the 3 house burglars.
3. However is also likely that the 4 alleged arguidos are part of that group, or maybe they are an entire set of different people of interest to the Metropolitan Police investigation.
4. If the unknown 4 were constituted as arguidos, the possibility is that that was done so they can refuse to incriminate themselves, whilst as mere witnesses they would be forced to answer.
5. Legal disclaimer. I'm not a lawyer and what I just posted above, is my opinion, I could be wrong, and if I am feel free to correct me.
6. Can't help notice the coincidence of the timing, that will once again overlap the with the McCanns versus Amaral trial.

I understood SY would not be allowed to question anyone in Portugal, that would have to be done on their behalf by the PJ, so in the same position the PJ were back in spring 2008. If so, rather misleading. Query also interviewing "suspects" rather than, or at least including witnesses i.e. OC cleaners.

Isn't an arguido a suspect ? Don't arguidos have more "rights" than witnesses, they can refuse to answer questions etc.
If I were a burglar, lurking in the shadows on a fateful night, who may or may not have seen something relevant to this, I would ask to be made an arguido before being questioned. I could then refuse to answer questions about burglary, but answer questions about other issues the police were enquiring about.
So suspect could have a few meanings, when it comes to reporting by Martin Brunt.

Do "burglars" abduct children these days ? We sure have some characters about , or are the "burglars" witness for a case against the "original " aguidos " when they make their way there in hope of claiming a million pounds , instead they find themselves counting bars when they get charged for neglect ? I can picture the "mother Teresa lookalike in jesus creepers" and her partner the "smirking" one , what a surprise it will be for them when JUSTICE PREVAILS .

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have returned to Portugal to question a number of suspects. Which we did not know
They will be speaking to a key witness, as well as several individuals suspected of carrying out burglaries, as part of the second phase of the Scotland Yard probe on the ground in The Algarve.
A key WITNESS - to what precisely ? JT NOT leaving the table, GM being away for a long time. Madeleine not being present at the last High Tea . . . ? Witness to WHAT ?
And the burglars, . . Whilst you were out burgling, did you see anyone, NO. Thank you so much.
The same team of British police who were involved in the digging of several sites outside the resort of Praia da Luz earlier in June arrived back in Portugal on Monday. Which we did not know
Sky's Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "They will be joining their Portuguese colleagues and sitting in on a series of interviews with, I'm told, first a key witness, and then a number of people who are being described as aguidos (suspects).
"We think that this includes the three or more former workers from the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz where Madeleine vanished who are suspected of carrying out a series of burglaries in the months leading up to Madeleine's disappearance.
"Scotland Yard have made it clear for a while, if not publicly, that they are interested in talking to these suspects.
"Now it may be just a question of eliminating them, but they have certainly been flagged up during the Scotland Yard review of the original police investigation by the Portuguese, people of interest who need to be interviewed, who may become, in a sense, more official suspects, but certainly people that Scotland Yard believe could have vital information about Madeleine's disappearance."
What he did NOT say is that they may have done it. He speaks of eliminating them, and that they may have vital information . . Like seeing what any of the Tapas group were actually DOING . . .Like being able to testify, on oath, signed, sealed and delivered that Madeleine was NOT present in the Tapas bar at 5.30 on 3/5/7. Like being able to say that they were told, instructed, paid, coerced and threatened by person or persons unknown to keep silent for the past 7 years . . .
The possibilities are endless, once one starts "purporting theories".

As ever the timing of the visit suggests that AR is continuing down the same track as before. Almost certainly a futile and pointless set of interviews - to match the useless 'dig' operation. And timed as before to coincide with the trial providing a suitable distraction and some bonus additional material for Gerry's big tear-jerker speech.

I tend to agree with you. Weren't these burglars of interest due to the mobile phone traffic near the OC that night? Perhaps they had cloaking capabilities that made them invisible!
These criminals are rubbish aren't they? Whilst they were obviously watching the comings and goings of people staying in that block they must surely have realised that several apartments would be left unattended most evenings, yet despite this they never tried to brake in, nothing was taken.
If this were a real investigation SY would have had this particular avenue all wrapped up by now, these people of interest would have been interviewed long ago and either charged or eliminated.
The timing of this latest phase by OG perhaps gives the game away. Whilst the McCann's face their 'supposed' tormentor in court, SY are busy keeping the abduction myth alive.

I can see at the top in red the words, 'Manlinka alguido'. I can hardly believe it. If he is one suspect then surely his late night caller on the 3rd could also be one. If so I take back my post earlier.
