Plus it would be difficult to explain away the stench-de-mort.

Exactly, but when the high mileage on the Scenic was questioned they used the reported trips to account for most of it. I only found out about their other car 2 years ago. It was buried deep in the files IIRC.

How do you get drugs out of your system quicker?  You get sweaty.  Does this explain their jogging around PDL?

I'm no expert but I can't see that working. Don't all drugs (including alcohol) need to be broken down by the liver before being excreted in the normal way?

Shhh the jogging was so they could speak away from prying ears.
The jogs up Rocha Negra ended up at the back of Boavista Golf Course which could be a handy place for private meetings.

I've seen it on tv..  big grin

Certainly, from my dealings with drugs & alcohol misuse sweating it out can "reduce" the time.  When you smell alcohol on an alcoholic it's not just on their breath, it's literally coming out of their pores as the body tries to break it down.

I've no links for this but I've spent enough time in rehab to believe this.

Digging to start next week (continuation of automatically locked thread) - UPDATE... starting today 2/6/14 - Page 32 Empty Why are lots of phonecalls by dealers/burglars assumed to be evidence of something dodgy?

Post by Sonmi-451 06.06.14 19:34

I've seen it reported that permission has been given to interview the burglars/dealers owing to the fact that "Mobile phone analysis shows the men made an unusually high number of calls to each other in the hours after she disappeared in May 2007". If these are the only grounds then that's pretty darn weak, and even illogical.

Call me old fashioned, but if I was a known local criminal and all of a sudden the area had some extra police activity happening on 'my patch' I would most likely be on the phone to all my dodgy mates trying to work out what the hell was happening.  On the other hand if I'd actually done something as stupid as acted totally out of character and abducted a child then I'm sure I'd want to tell as few people as possible, no matter how stoned or out of it I may have been...and so ringing all my dodgy mates would be the last thing I'd do.  Therefore, in my opinion... the flurry of phonecalls, (if true), is more likely to reflect a lack of knowledge as to what's happening, than 'evidence' of some involvement.

Silver Shuffle wrote:As Metropolitan police are reported to be extending their on-site investigations in and around Praia da Luz - and the Portuguese press is full of reports on how they have “got it all wrong” - a military helicopter has been “extremely busy” flying in and out of a nearby airfield. Locals who have been watching the flights are beginning to wonder. “Is there something we are not being told?” one queried. In Praia da Luz, police searches thus far appear to have yielded no more than a few animal bones, a sock and a local children’s ‘hidden away’ play hole - but with British police on a tight rein from local authorities who have warned them not to talk about the investigation to the press, it could be that certain developments are underway. What is certain is that a military helicopter has been flying in and out of Lagos airfield since dawn on Thursday morning. “It’s like musical helicopters down here,” our source reported, suggesting that “if any material is found, I suppose it would be fast-tracked to wherever the labs are”. Meantime, Portuguese press has been scathing of the high-profile police search that is using georadar, sniffer dogs and upwards of 30 uniformed officers. Former PJ chief inspector and current TV commentator Carlos Anjos has suggested that the land being searched so minutely by the Met “has been gone over before by everyone. This work makes no sense at all,” he said on television earlier in the week. Also damning is the former detective who led investigations when Madeleine first went missing. Talking to reporters, Gonçalo Amaral said the theory that Madeleine may have been murdered and then buried nearby by someone who broke into the apartment with robbery in mind is simply “not believable”. This is, nonetheless, the theory that newspapers report British detectives are running with. Whether or not this theory is a blind - along with reports of animal bones and the odd sock - is another question entirely. - See more at: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

"A Parent will ensure the body is wrapped"

I'm sorry but this is total nonsense.

If you seriously believe what you have written, check out the case of Fred West, a notorious British murderer and what he did to his own daughter, Heather.  Cutting her into chunks and putting her under his own patio, to name but one case of which sadly, there are many where parents have disposed of their children as rubbish.

Your thoughts that a parent would show respect, is commendable but lacks reality and closed minds will never look objectively.

People do the most depraved things and that includes parents
Each case is individual of course, and the case of Fred and Rosemary West was sensational because of its rarity.  Sadly, I agree some parents do treat their children appalling, in life as well as in death.  Perhaps I should have said that examiners will look out for signs that a body has been interred by someone who once 'cared' for that person.  Little touches, such as favourite toy, blanket, crucifix, some final form of respect.  Something that a stranger would not do.  Far from being nonsense, a crime scene will be examined from every perspective, including psychological.

or (again) a heart sticker on the duct tape that smothered her baby.

The ones that are the most cruel, don't always show it.

If it was me I'd probably chop it with a credit card like they do in the movies  dance  .. but then, if a day or so later I had the Police all over the place I'd want to make sure all potential traces had gone and that would mean I'd have to 'lose' my cards... oh, but then I'd have to get replacements by reporting them stolen! I'm not suggesting anything like this may have happened, just thinking what I'd do.

If you were receiving a few quid for supplying it you might need to also!

The search for Maddie McCann is to be expanded into a second week as UK Police have been given a second week to search a large area of scrubland and two other sites, as the effort is branded a PR exercise.
The search, which was criticised yesterday for lacking a focus and direction has now been expanded to include another two sites close to the location where Maddie disappeared in 2007.
The search, part of a €10m investigation launched in 2011 by the Metropolitan Police Force at the instigation of the British Prime Minister has yielded no significant evidence that could lead to an arrest or charges or done anything to help reveal exactly what happened to Maddie seven years ago when she mysteriously disappeared without trace from apartment 5a in Praia da Luz.
The investigation was started as the Metropolitan Police Force faced a growing wave of public discontent over corruption allegations and cover-ups, and face even more damaging revelations in the months to come, over the continuing fall out from the Stephen Lawrence murder inquiry.
Sources in the Met have told the Sunday World that the investigation is a desperate attempt to reclaim the reputation of the force with a trophy case and a result which, the force hopes, will put its troubles behind it.
“It is a distraction. There are hundreds of missing children in London who have not been found and why we should be spending millions on searching for a child who went missing in another country I don’t know. Why isn’t this money being spent on the other missing children?”, the anonymous detective told the Sunday World.
The investigation led by Detective Inspector Andy Redwood is now nearly two years old and will have to deliver results soon before the public and critics ask questions about a seemingly open ended investigation with a blank cheque for one missing child, while so many other missing person cases in the UK are given a fraction of the resources to help find them.
The Met asked the Portuguese authorities for permission to search three sites and its original search was due to be completed on Friday.
Cold Case specialist, Alan Bailey, claims that the three sites over many acres, with 12 locations for specific ground penetration radar searches, is simply shooting in the dark because it is impossible to search the areas fully and forensically in such a short time, even with the extra seven days.
“The search lacks focus and direction. There is clearly no specific leads or intelligence beyond a traditional geographic profiler’s suggestion of possible locations where a preferential paedophile may have dumped a body or possible evidence”, he told the Sunday World.
The sites were all checked previously in the immediate days after the disappearance of Maddie and any chance of discovering buried material or disturbed soil were much greater then than seven years later, he said.
The search areas totaling up to 15 acres according to one source, simply does not inspire confidence that the investigation is on the brink of a break through.
Every time the Met  promises a major breakthrough it risks damaging its position.
“Cold case investigators should dampen expectations and only promise to do all it can to bring a fresh set of eyes to a case. It is dangerous and upsetting to raise people’s expectations’, the former head of the Irish Cold Case unit told the Sunday World.
The force will face considerable difficulty if it fails to deliver after this last ditch attempt to solve this very difficult case with these new searches.
There is some concerns that f there is no significant movement in the investigation it may be forced to push for arrests which may not be merited.
The Met will look for a face saving exercise and by pushing for arrests that the Portuguese authorities may not support, could give them a neutral way out.
By promising to solve the case in a fire engine fashion, overtaking and by implication deriding the work of other investigators on the case, then it has  perhaps, set itself up to fail and to fall from a great height.

Looks like Donal MacIntyre has made the leap from "abducted" to "disappeared".

why dont they ask the parents?..I mean after all there was never any evidence of abduction...the whole tissue of lies surrounding this case points squarely at the father having hid his dead daughters body for fear of what an autopsy would show up!!
The dogs indicated the presence of cadaver scent in apartment 5a so whose scent was that??

Perhaps Sy can explain how Kate McCann got Cadaverine on her clothes bearing in mind they now without any evidence, want us to believe a predator killed Madeleine in the apartment and took her corpse with him? The McCann's know exactly where Madeleine is and how she died. its time Sy explained what Gerry McCann knows and about whom?
