Yes, because the alternative is self-defeating and far easier to pick holes in than the plain and simple whitewash that already constituted the 'official' story for the past seven years. If government and police simply wanted whitewash all they have to do is visibly 'support' the existence of an infinite McCann fund and tolerate the Mc's being perpetual consulting experts and oft-revisited media figures.

It remains to be seen exactly what this all is, but it is something very different than we've seen previously. This was, by all appearances, designed to be as long and painful as possible for the scumbags involved.  This was designed to break someone, and then crucify someone. Either Goncalo. Or a McCann. And Amaral's statement to the media this week tells me that he, his legal team and his police chums think this is all going very well for him, and only a matter of time until full exoneration.
Well said, CynicalAl! I do hope (and cautiously begin to believe) you may be right!

Yes, if he eventually moves from might have died in the apartment to DIED in the apartment.

Redwood and co have clearly found some evidence to support the possibility that Maddie  left 5a deceased.

Perhaps he has taken Gerry's advice and asked the dogs.

All very sad. but not surprising to hear death as a possibility from the Met. It was an eye-opener to see it in context, however.

Dead in the apartment, removal of the body.
yea russiandoll, thats the only thing that's in the way.

Doesn't matter if he said 'died in apartment' or 'possibly died in apartment.'  Nothing changes, still it could be him implying, an abductor killed her then removed her.  Unless he comes out and confirms he's linking her death in apartment to findings of dogs - that's when its whole new ball game.  The 'time' of death then comes into play.  But he hasn't!

Redwood could indeed be thinking an abductor killed her then removed her body. But he'd be up against decades of statistics and common sense. Criminals don't typically clean up crime scenes that they don't control... And think of this... 5a was so well cleaned that no DNA evidence existed to prove the girl had even been there. In the 20 minute window of opportunity Stinkyman had he had to get aroused, achieve satisfaction, kill a sleeping child who wasn't screaming the place down, accelerate the development of cadaverine, spread it in a bunch of locations around the apartment, clean from top to bottom, and leave without leaving a trace of either of them, carrying a dead child, his MO having gone from creepy trespasser and conversationalist, to kiddie fiddler with no violent tendencies when confronted sporting such a placid personality that parents said vnow, get on with you you smelly daft thing'instead of beating his brains out, all the way to sexual offender, felonious cleaner, murderer and bodysnatcher, apparently desperate to avoid capture but hazardously addicted to extreme risk of being rumbled.

No. Redwood knows its bollocks.

Maybe he's been told to keep a lid on the case, and maybe he's doing an Amaral, shaming the authorities into action, by making the 'official' story more ridiculous by the day. Could he be letting BHH hang himself? How could you get rid of Redwood without him spilling the beans and joining forces with Amaral. No. Redwood is provoking the end game.

I didn't see the programme, because they have moved the satellite !

But, and please correct me if I am wrong.
Has Redwood just repeated what Amaral, Rebelo, the Archiving two, Grime, Leicester and every other professional who has ever looked at this case has said
Namely, to whit, and viz, and for that matter  in terms
That Madeleine died in the apartment. ?

If so, why was Mr Antony Bennett condemned to a term of imprisonment and forced to pay costs of a third of his pension for the rest of his life, for effectively saying the same thing ?

Any ideas Kate, Gerry, Kevin, Adam, Mrs M, Your Honour ?

Sorry if this has already been mentioned , but wasn't there talk of a witness that may have seen K&G carrying. Black plastic bag ?...and didn't Kate say in her book " that kind of evidence is their word against ours " ( to that effect ) ...maybe someone was putting rubbish  out early a.m and saw them ?....has Redwood caught wind of this ?, if they are now looking at possible death inside the appartment they cannot ignore the findings of Martin Grimes and his wonderfully accurate colleagues Eddie and Keela.

I agree. The SY team can't suddenly start on about death with no concrete proof
What has made them suddenly entertain this idea after all this time?

CRIMEWATCH Update on MadeleineMcCann case tonight 19th March - Page 17 Empty Pat Brown sums it up.

Post by PeterMac 20.03.14 16:42

BREAKING NEWS! Bollux media has located the Algarve Bogeyman and, over a cup of expresso and a few smokes, the Algarve Bogeyman has come clean about his criminal activities

Bollux: So, I notice you are wearing a shirt that is very similar to the one that Scotland Yard has released to the media! Don't you think that is a bit dangerous?
AB: No, I am not worried. They can't arrest anyone over here in Portugal and after a few months have passed, they will be back looking for gypsies or burglars.

Bollux: You kind of look like a gypsy.
AB: Right, yeah, true. Well, they will be looking for a sex ring, then.

Bollux: A couple of times you weren't wearing any shirt at all! Were you worried at that time your shirt would be recognised.
AB: No, I was just washing it. Some of the little girls told me I was smelly.

Bollux: Ah, I understand. So, according to reports, you broke in to twelve vacation homes while the the parents were sleeping in the next room.
AB: No, I actually never broke in. Those British parents always leave their front doors unlocked, so I just walked in.

Bollux: And you sexually assaulted five of these children.
AB: Not really, I just sort of looked at them. Wouldn't you think there would have been a big deal made if I was raping little tourist girls in the Argarve?

Bollux: You spoke to some of the parents. Why?
AB: I wanted to practice my English.

Bollux: Is that why you only broke into....excuse me...accessed the flats of British families and not those of Swedes, Germans, or the Dutch?
AB: Sure, that makes sense.

Bollux: So, according to trusted media reports, you sexually assaulted those five girls between 2004 and 2006, maybe took Madeleine in 2007, and then went on breaking into apartments until 2010 but didn't molest any more little girls and then stopped.
AB: Okay.

Bollux: So, did you take Madeleine?
AB: Sort of. When I came through the open front door, I saw Maddie behind the sofa and I pulled her out. She was dead I don't like 'em dead. I got worried that because I had touched her that I could have left DNA and then be accused of killing her, so I picked her up and ran off with her. I dumped her in the back of the trash truck I work on.

Bollux: But, unlike the other crimes where you hit between 2 and 5 in the morning, this was in the evening. Why would you have a trash truck with you?
AB: Oh, right. Yeah, so I took Maddie down toward the beach and dumped her in the sea.

Bollux: The Smith family saw you? They sure got their description wrong.
AB: Well, you know how bad witnesses can be.

Bollux: True. So, what are your plans now that Scotland Yard is looking for you?
AB: I'm going to have another cup of coffee and a cigarette.

To date, Kate's book is the only place I've ever seen this mentioned. But I wondered at the time whether the purpose of the Crimewatch special was to fish for witnesses that saw something that night (or week). Redwood may well have got what he wanted.

On the contrary, they can - all we know is that Madeleine disappeared on the 3rd May 2007 in Praia da Luz. Death in the apartment is a possibility that has not been eliminated.

If SY move to the position of Madeleine DID die in 5A, then they'll need something to back it up. The dogs are a great indication, but they'll need more than that.

But why now out of the blue are they saying there is a possibility that something for which there is 'no evidence' is now in the mix

I didn't say that there isn't any evidence, just that they don't need any.  As for why now, it fits perfectly with what I've believed since the investigation started - that they are gradually shifting public perception of the investigation.  They started the ball rolling by encouraging people to take a closer look at the Smithman sighting.

One of the jaunts that sticks out for me is Matthew Oldfield being seen near the chapel at 23:15 - a bin check perhaps?

Post by plebgate 20.03.14 17:17

I didn't watch CW last night but reading the posts here what springs to mind is the thread Lance De Boils started here called Thread of Hope.

In that thread a number of us agreed with LdB that the case would come to an end before the 7th anniversary of Maddie's disappearance  and I think that maybe the Guardian revelation allows us to believe that this will be the case.

6/7 weeks to go, the investigation does seem to be gathering pace, Rocky A speaking out and perhaps being seen as pushing SY to make this "revelation".

Will the libel trial  resume before May, will it need to -  we shall see, but I don't think Madam Judge will be making any announcements before the 7th anniversary.

Of course this is all IMO only.

The police will have read the original files, the bewk and the forums -  how can any of those be ignored - that is what the World will want to knowif there appears to be a whitewash I think.

No comment on that, but it wouldn't have happened on May 3, either just before the alarm was raised, or later on when everyone was out searching. For this hypothesis to be possible, it would need to be another day, ideally just before a bin collection

You wouldn't have to worry about bin collections if you moved the body earlier enough, say between 4 and 5am ....

Do you mean 4-5am on May 3 or 4-5am on May 4? The answer to that question could be crucial

Somebody or more than one checked if the bin had been emptied.

And then, post the hiring of the Renault Scenic, removed her body from the dump? That's cheery  :bad:

Nah ... sorry .... can`t go with the bin hypothesis.  IMO the most evil person in the world could not put their own deceased child in a bin.
Parents have been known to dismember the bodies of their deceased children and other relatives in order to conceal the death or its cause, and these are by no means 'the most evil persons' in the world, Woofer.

Interesting that the photo they've decided to go with shows Madeleine with her eyebrows defined, eyeliner, and lipstick.

The dogs from GNR tracked Madeleine to Batista Supermarket, right?
Smithman went the opposite way,and yes,it was probably GM Smith's met, but it was not Madeleine.
It was another girl, may be "E.N" or someone else.
Smithman was a smokescreen.

Worthy of bumping to the top!

Agreed.  I don`t remember Andy saying that on the CW programme or the MET video - if he did can someone give the link.

It was the Guardian that wrote :-
"Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood admitted that what they have uncovered means Madeleine might not have left the apartment alive."

Madeleine's wearing an Everton shirt, while Smelly Binman's shirt is not dissimilar to those worn by the Gunners... could this be an indication of sights being set on targets, canada?   winkwink

I`d say it was definitely meant to be the Arsenal shirt - their 2005-2006 shirt.

But if he wasn't English, why would he be wearing an Arsenal shirt?

I`m not too knowledgeable on football fanaticism, but don`t people all over the world support UK football teams ?
