So the court case might be resuming tomorrow - just to be clear, I haven't heard or read anything to confirm this but I'm going by Clarrie's past efforts at distraction

The shills on twitter have picked up on this story and are using it to bash the Portuguese police.
It seems to me Team McCann are in meltdown, the endless stream of stories about burglars, former employees etc, are very similar to those used to saturate the media in 2007. I wonder if the PJ are getting close?

Re: Madeleine Cops probing claims a kidnapper tried to snatch another British tot from holiday flat in Portugal
Police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are probing claims a kidnapper tried to snatch another British tot from a holiday flat in Portugal.
A mum has told Scotland Yard how she chased an intruder away from her Algarve apartment after she found him heading towards her child’s cot.
The unnamed mum reported it to Portuguese police at the time, but it is claimed they failed to search the area or take fingerprints.
Detectives investigating three-year-old Maddy’s disappearance have now interviewed the mum.
A source said: “British detectives are keen to establish whether Portuguese officers missed a crucial line of inquiry here.
“There is some confusion over why this was not taken more seriously.”
It was reported that the mum said she heard a noise late one night and caught the intruder heading for the cot.
The would-be-kidnapper fled the apartment, thought to be in an apartment in an Algarve resort north of Praia da Luz, where Maddy was taken.
The alleged incident happened in 2010 - three years after Maddy vanished from her bed while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry and twin brother and sister.
Good firm and evidenced story then.
Or perhaps someone wanting their 15 minutes of infamy.
Oh, and by the way, - NORTH of Praia da Luz is surely Edgar's Lawless Hinterland, full of Hellish Lairs. So that part would make sense.
Perfect for a family holiday.
Re: Madeleine Cops probing claims a kidnapper tried to snatch another British tot from holiday flat in Portugal
I thought this line of enquiry sounded interesting but then when I read that this happened in 2010, after MM went missing, I think the mother probably jumped to conclusions that someone wanted to take her child.
Also, I don't think SY would say something like, 'British detectives are keen to establish whether Portuguese officers missed a crucial line of inquiry here' so, yes, it just sounds like Clarence Mitchell again.

COMMENT: It's hard to understand the relevance of this incident, which took place three years after Madeleine was reported missing, and even more hard to underdstand the Mirror giving it any prominence - unless, that is, the purpose was just to perpertuate the abduction scenario in some more tabloid newspaper headlines. The bits in red above are all information which it appears could only come from a live Scotland Yard investigation, and have appeared in the newspapers with their consent. Such a plethora of leaks from within a highly sensitive enquiry are, to say the very least, highly unusual. Personally I would use the words 'totally unprecedented'.
I deduce from the above the following:
1. The immediate source for this story will have been the McCanns' chief reputation manager, Clarence Mitchell
2. The original information will have been deliberately leaked by DCI Andy Redwood (or one of his staff) to the McCann Team and Clarence Mitchell - and NOT released directly to the public
3. The information about the mum having been interviewed by Redwood's men is probably true; the 'mum' probably lives in Britain. Whether she has given a true account of an actual event is another matter
4. Both the Operation Grange Team and those above them in the Met AND the McCann Team are pleased to see this constant procession of bizarre claims about possible suspects, persons of interest, people we want to eliminate from our enquiries etc. being paraded in our tabloid media.
I can only assume from all of the above that Operation Grange, their bosses, the McCanns and all their team genuinely believe that these stories in the British tabloids are actively helping us all to find Madeleine.
Unless there is some other explanation?

Operation Grange don't seem too bothered that findmadeleine.com is still advertising Tannerman after Senior Police Officer Redwood discounted him on CrimeWatch in an unprecedented programme that offered 'teasers' in terms of 'revelation moment', cost thousands upon thousands to make (and there wasn't just one version) and explained away Tannerman. The media don't seem too bothered about it either.Tony Bennett wrote:A mum has told Scotland Yard how she chased an intruder away from her Algarve apartment after she found him heading towards her child’s cot.

There's nothing in the article to suggest that this is a new story either, the spokesman could be giving out information he first heard about in 2010

I'd like to hope that SY are keeping a very close eye on them (which of course they should do in this type of investigation), and that they are very interested in why the McCanns continue to promote Tannerman

"North" of PdL (loosely) are the villages of Espiche and then after many miles of Lawless Hinterland (aka golf courses ) the village of Bensafrim.
Bensafrim has one B&B and four houses for rental. Total population of 2002. hardly a "resort"
Espiche is mostly focussed round the golf.
So which is it, Clarence ?

Re: Madeleine Cops probing claims a kidnapper tried to snatch another British tot from holiday flat in Portugal
I do recall some incident which was dressed up as "attempted abduction" but when you got down to it, it involved members of the SWP (Swarthy Wanderers of Portugal AKA gypsies) who have a habit of walking into places to see what's on offer. Portugal being a warm place, people often leave their doors open - easy pickings. Naturally a mother's first instinct will be to protect her baby if she comes upon intruders and it's easy for the media to dress that up as attempted abduction, but the evidence seems to be they are much more interested in clothing and anything else easily transportable rather than abduction.

I think the public are now groaning when they see a McCann story. Seven years of spin - quite literally, same stories are going around and around, and all are intended to take suspicion away from the McCanns. From the responses in in the comments of the National papers, it seems as though the public have had enough. The McCanns have received the kind of help other devastated families can only dream of, a massive Fund to support the family and an entire department of Scotland Yard detectives investigating their daughter's disappearance as if the 'abduction' had occurred in the UK.
In my opinion Team McCann are in meltdown. The stories are becoming ever more ridiculous, they shriek desperation. They are repeating the same tactics they used in 2007, media saturation. In 2007 it worked, as Clarence bragged at that spin doctor conference, they successfully turned public opinion on the McCanns from hostility to sympathy and support. Further they were able to stir up anger against anyone who doubted the McCanns, by accusing them (us) of being internet voyeurs of tragedy who attack victims of crime. We had the strange phenomenon where normally rational people would become incensed at any criticism of the parents, and the subject became as taboo a dinner table topic as politics and religion.
However, the abduction story has not stood the test of time. It becomes more and more outlandish as the years go by. In the grief of the moment we are prepared to believe exactly what we are told, seven years on it is a big ask. The Mirror does indeed have a lot of readers, but a lot of those readers also watched Crimewatch. It shows how cynical we have become on this forum, as we saw CW as pro McCann, but the reality seems to be entirely different. Thousands joined the FB groups and forums following CW, and other than the few lunatic shills on twitter, STMs and JATK (many with multiple names) - the McCanns have very little public support now. Just as we watch the comments columns of national newspapers, so too do Government departments. In 2007, Kate may well have right, there could have been riots in the streets, the McCann media machine had literally stirred the public up into a frenzy. What with Gerry's epiphany and Kate's suffering, we were observing 21st century internet martyrs. Wracking up the Catholic support was a stroke of genius.
I don't think the McCanns can make a successful comeback now, people are no longer coming together to raise funds for them or pray en masse. There certainly won't be any more audiences with the Pope. David Cameron granted the McCanns the Review they wanted but he didn't meet them and he wasn't photographed shaking their hands. Everyone knows that when this story breaks (which it will), it will be even more sensational than it was the first time around. The Press keep them in the headlines because they shift newspapers, probably no more no less, and they have the convenience of readily prepared press releases to fill those column inches.
I believe we will see justice for Madeleine this year because DCI Redwood is focused on the child, not the parents, and if that determined look on his face is fake, then he deserves a table at the Oscars.

And Andy and his three mates never thought to 'visit' this 'location' for themselves during their recent trip to Portugal?
Just to aquaint themselves 'with the situation the mother found herself in'?
Maybe they were on 'McCann time'
'Get in, get out.,,,, pronto'
Before anybody could ask them pertinent or relevent questions.
Like " Mr Redwood, Mr Redwood, what evidence do you have that there even was an abduction"?

One thing that facinates me is that in the early days the DM forum was the (? only) place to be for cynics to dicuss the case. Thinking back now, CR could have had a field day with some of the comments that were posted.
Why did the DM let it run so long? The management must have been aware of the content. Can't remember why everyone moved to the 3As and other forums, was it shut for legal reasons or because groups fell out and splintered off?

Your new avatar is just horrible: tried to kill it, wipe it off, spray it away; then felt it and lo & behold
Jolly good fun!

Clarence Mitchell claimed that he had got the Mirror Forum closed down, whether he's lying or not is another matter of course. Maybe Carter Rucked.chilli wrote:One thing that facinates me is that in the early days the DM forum was the (? only) place to be for cynics to dicuss the case. Thinking back now, CR could have had a field day with some of the comments that were posted.
Why did the DM let it run so long? The management must have been aware of the content. Can't remember why everyone moved to the 3As and other forums, was it shut for legal reasons or because groups fell out and splintered off?
I know when I was on someone hacked in to the forum and introduced homosexual porn, I nearly lost my eyes I remember and
I was horrified to think it was on my computer . I wasn't happy until I changed my computer and bashed the old hard drive to bits.
Then in the middle of a session the Mirror pulled the plug, no warning, no nothing, just gone and never to return.
