The parents of missing Madeleine McCann will today mark her tenth birthday with a low-key gathering for family and friends.

Kate and Gerry McCann will join well-wishers in praying for the return of their daughter, who went missing on holiday in Portugal when she was three.

The McCanns have decorated the front gates at their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, with green and yellow floral tributes, symbolising hope.

In a TV interview last week, Mrs McCann said: ‘The family will get together and celebrate, which is wonderful, but Madeleine should be here.

Mrs McCann, 45, said it was full of photographs, drawings, unopened Christmas stockings and birthday gifts.

The former GP returned from a visit to Portugal on Wednesday during which she lit a candle in the church in the resort of Praia da Luz and prayed for Madeleine’s return.

The McCanns said their spirits were lifted last week when three young women, who had been missing for up to ten years, were found alive in a house in Cleveland, Ohio.

They said it had given them fresh hope that Madeleine is still alive. She disappeared from the family’s holiday apartment in the Algarve just over six years ago.

If it was meant to be low key you have to wonder why they feel the need to tell the whole world about it.
The public dont need to know how the Mccanns choose to remember their daughter.

Yes, I have asked before why Kate, never one to let a good photo opportunity pass her by, has never been seen in the shrine that is Madeleine's room, looking suitably pensive.

She cannot claim for a moment that some subjects are just too private in view of others she has thought fit to publish before.

Pages 128 and 129 anyone plus details of her sex life?

Were there any photos printed of Kate McCann being at the church in PDL for Madeleine's service. I can't recall seeing any but then I don't look at all the newspapers on line.

The DM stated under a front page photo that Kate had lit a candle for Madeleine (pictured right) but when you opened the article there was no such photo, only the ones of her slopping about in her flip flops. Oh dear, DM's office juniors messing up again. They really should get some staff in who can do some proper research, put an eloquent sentence together and know all about spelling and English grammar (and pigs might fly).

We cannot begin to imagine the strains she's been under, waiting for the knock on the door and some friendly coppers asking to have a quiet word.

Portia, Kate McCann has never looked any different from day one. She's always had the same body shape and never seems to gain weight or lose it.
She didn't look a wreck a week ago when she was laughing out loud on the Lorraine Kelly show, Gerry and she had a fine old time.
I think the only time she'll get a knock on the door from some friendly coppers is when the arrive from Scotland Yard to say that they've reviewed all of the evidence and are pleased to say that Madeleine was probably abducted by a stranger but is still findable and they are pleased to say that they completely exonerate Kate and Gerry from any involvement in her disappearance.
Unless a miracle happens, of course.

TB got hit because he signed a contract to stay mum, but did not. Breach of contract.
Judge T could not extract him from that, even if he'd wanted to, which he might have, but we'll never know.

GA's case is still in court, as far as I know. What I mean is: he chose to write a book, nobody put any pressure on him to do so.

Both were and are their own men. They made their own choices and stayed the course.

If I were the wife or friend of either of them, I would be very proud, but I would also take them to task for not having foreseen the abyss they were facing, what with the unlimited funds available to their opponents.

Sympathising with the mccanns would be akin to sympathising with the Cleveland's abductor/rapist (his name escape me at the moment) of the three women.

Reportedly, he'd joined the search party looking for DeJesus; and even joined her family in digging up an area reported as her possible burial place, when he knew very well he'd kept her captive at his place, yet he went through the pretense - that behavior is beyond creepy. He's a psychopath. Not dissimilar to the odious pair who also pretended to be searching for a daughter they knew exactly what they had done to her.

The Cleveland's bas**** was digging for a dead body all along knowing the subject in question is alive, while the Rothley's bas***** were searching for a missing child all along knowing the subject in question is dead. Just goes to show you the kind of sick mind game psychopaths are capable of.

Who in their right mind can sympathise with such evil people?

Kate McCann doesn't look to me like someone suffering from anorexia. Running the marathon requires physical strength and resilience and she'd be unable to run it in four hours if she wasn't extremely fit and healthy? She is thin (from choice I would think - a fat Kate would be bad PR and a turn-off for the media) but unlike anorexics she has toned muscles. She does have some lines on her face but she's probably addicted to jogging which has been linked to premature wrinkles. I think the general PR approach is for Kate to appear as slumped and downcast as possible. Goncalo Amaral made the accurate, IMO, observation that Kate McCann was an actress and I'm sure she has had endless hours of media coaching to enhance that natural ability, so much so in fact, that she can switch the victim act on or off at will, as can be seen in a certain BBC interview.

Why flowers for this birthday particularly, why not before? What's special about this birthday over the others? Birthday is a yearly thing. Generally, flowers are used for remembrance of departed loved ones. Flowers for celebration is for joyous occasion only if the person is present and can enjoy the flowers, or for somber occasion if the person is dead, hence remembrance.

That woman is making a statement when she told the whole world about this "low key" event. It turns out to be another one of her wtf actions that is senseless.
