well, when the database was not closed, i did read about 3 convictions for crimes against young girl, all 3 german, in germany. 

how many chances do you get in germany, to tell the world you need other convictions to keep the guy in, most very different, i do not even want to understand this form of german justice in action. but is there a stronger way to tell the earlier victims they did not really count enough, their faith and experiences have not been enough, to see at least one prosecution officer that this guy will not make use of just the next chance to better himself. why shop for other crimes and shout to the world he must have done it, o well, the department of do not let happen such things again must be closed long ago. 

it is not they had no chance to know it is a bad apple, rotten to its core, their own expert told him well before he even had his first conviction in cases against young girl. no, i do not want to understand that at all.

German prosecutors today revealed they believe Madeleine McCann is dead as it emerged their paedophile prime suspect has 17 convictions and began abusing 'little girls' as a teenager but was overlooked by Portuguese police.

Christian Brueckner, who is serving seven years in Kiel jail in northern Germany for rape, was shopped by a friend after he confessed during a drinking session that he 'knew all about' what had happened to Maddie, MailOnline can reveal.  

Portuguese police face serious questions after their German and British counterparts found Brueckner, 43, was not put on a shortlist of 600 suspects despite his long criminal record, history of child abuse and his decision to leave Praia da Luz shortly after the three-year-old's disappearance on May 3, 2007.

The controversial Portuguese detective who initially led the investigation into Maddie's abduction, Goncalo Amaral, said he ruled him out of the inquiry in 2008 and claims that Brueckner is a 'scapegoat’.

The German spent 12 years living in the Algarve dealing drugs, burgling holiday homes and had even raped a 72-year-old American tourist in her apartment. The sex attack on the US-born pensioner followed a break-in - and police have long believed Maddie may have been snatched during a burglary.

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told a press conference today: 'We think that Madeleine McCann is dead and are appealing for witnesses. The 43 year old suspect is a multiple sexual predator already convicted of crimes against little girls'.   Gerry and Kate McCann's spokesman Clarence Mitchell told MailOnline this afternoon the family still have hope she's alive but are 'realistic' about her fate.

Christian Brueckner allegedly shared details about Maddie's abduction with a friend over a drink on the tenth anniversary of her disappearance when her face appeared on the German pub's TV screen in 2017. He then showed his friend a video of him raping a woman.  

The confidant went to the police but after three years of investigations they have gone public with extraordinary details about his paedophile past and offered a 10,000 euro reward after failing to gather enough evidence to charge him with Maddie's murder.

Detectives believe that he used a VW campervan he was living in to spirit the three-year-old away after snatching her, but after shipping the vehicle to Germany they have not found any of Maddie's DNA inside, according to Sky News. A Jaguar he owned until the day after the abduction is also in their hands but forensics teams have found not clues.

As detectives in Germany said Maddie's case was being treated as murder, but the Met said it remains a missing persons inquiry, it also emerged today:

   Portuguese police face serious questions as it is revealed that the man who may have taken Maddie spent 12 years in Portugal before her disappearance committing serious sexual and drugs crimes without ever being arrested;
   German police were told about his bar chat about Maddie with a friend in 2017 - but three years on have finally confirmed he is a suspect;
   His VW campervan and Jaguar have been located by police who believe one or both were  - but a lack of DNA evidence means a 10,000 euro reward has been put up for any information that leads to his conviction.

   Downing Street said the latest developments appeared to be significant and added that Number 10's thoughts were with the McCann family 'who have had to endure so much'.

News magazine Spiegel today revealed that Brueckner has 17 convictions in Germany for child abuse and child pornography offences, driving without a licence, assault, burglary, theft and drink driving.

Brueckner's first burglary was in his home town of Wurzburg, Bavaria, in 1992, when he was 15. He was also given a two-year youth sentence in 1994 for sexually abusing a child when he was a 17. After his 12 years in Portugal he was jailed for drug smuggling in northern Germany October 2011.

In 2013 he abused another little girl and was caught with child porn, and was jailed for those offences in 2016. It was only in 2019 he was jailed for the rape in Praia da Luz after being found living on the streets in Milan.

Brueckner, described as a drifter, was living in Praia da Luz when Maddie vanished from an apartment 13 years ago as her parents Gerry and Kate were out for dinner at a nearby tapas restaurant.

German police have revealed that the suspect had arrived in the Algarve in 1995 aged 18, a common destination for the country's teenage backpackers.

For the next 12 years he lived around Praia da Luz and nearby Lagos, telling family he was working as a caterer and odd-job man, when in fact he was dealing cannabis, trafficking drugs and burgling holiday homes and hotel rooms.

Today it was revealed he had tortured and raped a 72-year-old American tourist in her holiday home close to the McCann's apartment in 2005, 18 months before the three-year-old was snatched from her bed - but was only jailed last year after German police began investigating.

He planned the rape having broken into the victim's house wearing a mask and armed with a rope to tie her to a wooden beam. She was blindfolded, gagged and whipped with a piece of metal before being raped and robbed - but hairs left at the scene later linked him to the crime. She told the police: 'He enjoyed torturing me'.

He denied the attack but friends had gone to police saying that videos of him raping other women had 'fallen into their hands' and they were in no doubt that they were 'real scenes', the court heard.

Weeks before Maddie disappeared he moved from a rural farmhouse into a VW T3 Westfalia campervan taken in the Portuguese resort in the days before she vanished. He also had a 1993 Jaguar XJR6 with a German number plate that was registered to another person in his home country 24 hours after Maddie was taken - but he was still driving it, Scotland Yard has said. Both vehicles have been traced by police.

The suspect then returned to Germany where he was jailed for dealing drugs in the North Sea resort of Sylt and later 'sentenced on numerous occasions to prison terms for sexual abuse of children in the past', Christian Hoppe, from the German Federal Criminal Police (BKA) has said.

He had been registered in Braunschweig since 2014. In court, he said he worked until seven in the morning until midnight but the business, along with his relationship, failed and he began to hit the bottle and live on social assistance.

He returned to Portugal where he was arrested in June 2017 and extradited again to Germany. The reason was a sentencing of the Braunschweig district court to 15 months' imprisonment for the sexual abuse of a child.

After his release in August 2018, he was homeless, the accused continued at his trial. He spent nights sleeping in park benches before fleeing to Italy where he was arrested in Milan in September 2018.

After being released from prison he appears to have left Germany for Italy but was held by police last year after an European arrest warrant was out out over the 2005 rape of the US tourist. He is now less than seven months into his seven-year jail term for the crime - but is appealing claiming his extradition was unlawful.

Mr Hoppe last night also described the prisoner as being white, with short blond hair, around 6ft tall and of slim build and offered a 10,000 euro reward for information that could lead to his prosecution. Although there are concerns that Germany's strict privacy laws, which allow the suspect anonymity, could hamper the investigation because potential witnesses aren't being given his identity.  

Scotland Yard revealed a man with short, light-coloured hair was seen lurking near the apartment in question on the day that Madeleine was snatched. Detectives have said the e-fit of the man released in 2013 had 'not been ruled out', suggesting he may resemble the new suspect.

Hans Christian Wolters, a spokesman for the Braunschweig Public Prosecutor's Office, said: 'In connection with the disappearance of the three-year-old British girl Madeleine McCann on May 3 2007 from an apartment complex in Praia da Luz, in Portugal, the Braunschweig prosecution is investigating against a 43-year-old German on suspicion of murder.

'We are assuming that the girl is dead. With the suspect, we are talking about a sexual predator who has already been convicted of crimes against little girls and he's already serving a long sentence.'

He said the suspect was regularly living in the Algarve between 1995 and 2007, where he worked jobs in the gastronomy business, but funded his lifestyle by committing crimes, including thefts in hotel complexes and apartments, as well as drug dealing.

He added: 'The Braunschweig prosecution is now concerned because before going abroad he last had his residence in Braunschweig.'

Police also revealed last night that the German suspect made a 30-minute phone call that located him in Praia da Luz just an hour before the Maddie was last seen on May 3, 2007. The following day he suspiciously transferred the ownership of his Jaguar car to another person despite continuing to drive it, police said.

Madeleine McCann's parents 'still continue to hope' their daughter is alive despite a German prosecutor saying police believe she is dead, their spokesman said today.

Kate and Gerry McCann are being comforted at home in Rothley, Leicestershire, by close relatives and being kept updated on developments by Scotland Yard officers.

McCann family spokesman Clarence Mitchell told MailOnline: 'German police say they are assuming that Madeleine is dead but they have no proof. British police are keeping an open mind and Portuguese police are reacting with caution too.

'So Kate and Gerry still fervently hope that Madeleine will be found alive despite everything that appears to be happening. They continue to hope she is alive until they can be shown incontrovertible evidence which proves that she is not.'

He added: 'But they are being realistic and simply want to know what has happened to their daughter and establish the truth, and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

'They will wait to hear what the police tell them. They want a resolution and after all these years they want peace.'

They think the man - who has also got previous convictions for sex crimes against girls - made money dealing drugs and burgling holiday homes and that could be how he chanced upon Maddie.

Detectives in London leading the hunt called a press conference last night to announce the 'major breakthrough'. The suspect was not named by Scotland Yard due to German anonymity laws, and British officers insisted theirs was still a 'missing persons' inquiry rather than a murder probe.

However German police chief Christian Hoppe last night went on the country's TV show XY - his country's version of Crimewatch – and revealed: 'The investigation leads us to believe that Maddie McCann was killed.'

Clarence Mitchell, a spokesman for Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry, told BBC television: 'They are grateful and they welcome this appeal.

'They have not given up hope of finding Madeleine alive, despite the length of time - they've never given up that hope.

'But they are realistic and they say that whatever the outcome of this appeal and the police work, they do need to know because they need to find peace.'

MailOnline understands the BKA unit firmly believes their 43-year-old suspect is the man who took Maddie.

Maddie, who vanished days before her fourth birthday and would now be 17, had been left sleeping with her baby siblings Sean and Amelie on the night she disappeared as her parents went to a tapas restaurant nearby with friends.

Last night Kate and Gerry said: 'We will never give up hope of finding Madeleine alive, but whatever the outcome may be, we need to know as we need to find peace.'

The attack on the American pensioner took place in Praia da Luz, 18 months before Maddie vanished from the same resort town. It was unclear this morning why the man, who was extradited to Germany from Portugal, had not faced trial in Portugal for the offence.

German law prevents police from naming even convicted criminals – so the McCann suspect remained anonymous even as he was jailed last year.

And it meant Scotland Yard was unable to name him when they made their announcement about the case last night.

Here in Germany, the media are still trying the best they can to frame CB. Only days after the alleged apology to the McCanns made the headlines everywhere, now the case made headlines again with the chat protocols - yawn, it's not news at all, they obviously are still talking about the chats CB made several years after Madeleine's disappearance, and all of this has already been published in the media years ago.

it is on youtube, at least yesterday it was, but i really can not do so much crap, i was 10 minutes in, and it looked like what they still had on the shelf by a company that usually sell such stuff to the bbc. and no one other ever wanted it before. 

the origins of these words in conversations never had a traceable source with them, if it are indeed screenshots of something and if it is indeed a cb something. who knows for sure. i don't. they did not came with a handout of the german police. 

and it is absolutely normal to react with mm, or even mmm when you do not want to say yes or no , in that moment. i think every dutch or german does is as a habit. you can even use a more specific tone. like when someone said something you do not like it comes often more as a kind of growl, or when somebody in a busy place stumbles up against you, even a more irritated growl. written it ends always up in mm, or even mmm.

mmm is more that you still are thinking about it, but from a more positive stance. 

and even mmmmm is used and the longer the m sound the more you like something. 

it is probably our neanderthal inheritance that surfaced from time to time, but it is very useful as very short and direct and indirect communication. 

the only way to know for sure is ask it the person who used it.

and germans have a nasty habit to be overly fond of using capitals for names(sorry max!) they are so much trained in school, they can not do it in other ways. so if a german would mean mm for madeleine mccann it would be in capitals written.

and all of this aside, why do people get the idea, that the mystery of missing madeleine is not a forever hot topic in the world of pedo's. most of these guys only can reach out to a dream world for their appetite. most never act on their weird feelings, they do look, but restrict themselves to dirty pictures, movies, holiday pictures on a beach on social media. and stories. 
only the idea that some other lucky guy, in their eyes, got something like a young girl to live out its fantasies, makes then jealous. they dream of such a chance, most would luckily never dare to act on these feelings. but they can dream, fantasies all they want. 

the ones that use dirty pictures of children, or look to the movies out and about, are still part of that same world that makes them, a lot are not even made by pedo's but only to sell to pedo's. 
pictures can be 10, 50 years old and still in circulation. 

they collect even all they can get their hands on, that shows something that can work for their fantasies, they even are used as money to get access to websites. makers are very often related to the child even. it is an industry, and yes missing children are a part that is very much woven in to it, not because the missing child ended up in pedo hands, but the thoughts that it could be possible is enough. 

and these kinds are everywhere, you have to catch them red handed while selling stuff, usually when the next server is taken down, often the same that let you see football matches for free. and are lucky to find list of credit card numbers or member lists, so you can visit the homes and related places. they are very experienced in hiding their stuff. and a lot is on usb, or hidden online. whats app is also very populair. 
so it is often a lot of luck or just a stupid one who you can get. 

i would never could work that part of law enforcement, it is something i would not be able to restrict myself to keeping calm and collected. i got pretty quickly after i started access to the books of criminals, and you can not make use of knowing who are part of such worlds, and only knowing is bad enough. and i did not like how many i had already met, some i could have guessed before, but some i had hard time to even start believing it. and you can not unknow it. most officers cannot do it for long, stints of maximum 2 years and they are done with it. 

these guys see so much horrible stuff, have to study it and can only talk freely with the psych, and it was because of that work we always had one on the floor. i could handle other work around victims of sexual abuse, because i was not a police officer, i was often asked as being the responsible adult, meaning mostly for 16 plus years. 
the result is, i am not in favor for second chances at all. and very much in favor for putting then at least out of society. and do not forget, it is not a male only world. 

and it is also a world where bragging is very common. blackmailing too. and as always making a lot of money. 

a lot of the traffic on the sites these messages are suppose to come from, is not only to show off to like minded people, but also trying to get access of what others have already. it has no meaning in being honest to each other, it usually is business. and they know it is criminal and they know there are people there on these same forums to catch them out. 
and i think it is very okay most people who are not into this stuff, can not even understand anything of it, i can not and i not even want to understand. and even trying is almost impossible. 

but this is just easy page filling they got payed for, two letters would not be what solves this case. 

and if you look to it all, the guy is bad. for me he lost his right to live a life in freedom long ago.

but in how all is written i do hope we do not end up with a fake confession that gets accepted, but with absolutely no findings that prove if it the truth. and when you put someone in a airtight room, and escape anything is no longer there, even a fake confession can serve him a better life , even it is without freedom. 
i do not like to call that a form of justice in a democratic society. not for cb, but justice needs to follow strict guidelines, because when we let them give to much rein, where do you stop. 

i have seen it happen in a much smaller scale, but that case had a suspect, but in the end it was just an innocent man. and judges are people too, and all german judges hear already well over 3 years about the man who did it. and this case has not even met the charging process. and most judges are sound, they are well trained in how to do their task, but there are so many moments in a court case, that have a larger grey area, and try to unknown what you heard and read in that moment. 

it is simply not okay how this case is brought to the public by paid professionals, some even with an oath to uphold the law, who forgot what the law told them. is this really the way to do justice to that little girl called madeleine. the germans cannot even use her full first name. they never do. fall maddie is just a better selling point.
a well maybe we can count that too to our neanderthal genes.

Again according to the press, the German police have been 'building' a case against Brueckner for years - this is written in such a way it gives the impression Brueckner is being investigated by Germany for the disappearance and possible murder of Madeleine McCann.

The Germans have no jurisdiction over the case any more than the UK - Portugal was, is and will always be the leading force. The most the Germans can do is assist the Portuguese investigation.

Thanks for your great as always comment, onehand. Until I read this, I never gave it a thought, but the more I think about it I also highly doubt that the chat protocols are a real, reliable source. Is it even technically possible after so many years to trace back some chats or forum posts that were made in like 2009(?) and be able to say for sure that they came from CB? Sounds rather dubios to me.

traditional forums can still have even older posts, depending on what they choose to give access too, 1 know at least one that still have posts that are from 2001, but usually only to find if you already know a username and are a member with allowances to search others their message history.

we are of course sure it was not a publication of a german justice department. 

and with enough information it is often quite easy to simply use google search to find even very old stuff back.
it is mostly learning while doing it. but it is unknown where it comes from, it was everywhere but it looked to have started from germany, it could if real get out from just another insider of course. 

others explained it as being a part of a doc cb had saved on a computer, but that stuff was all in the hands of the bka that worked the box factory raid. it was not mentioned in the local news publications, most are now gone, but when this story broke in june 2020 they still been up. but it would not explain why only this message got out, it looks like an ongoing conversation. 

but it is very easy to make a real looking screenshot of a forum post. 

but because of the not known source it is impossible to say if that bit of conversation did indeed happen and just needed this form to let it look like a forum post, or all is fake. its the era of the internet jokers are easy up and about. 

papers do often pay for such stuff, but checking it is always difficult. people do send stuff in. 

that guy from the netherlands that tried to blackmail the mccanns for a ransom, had used their old dutch email address. 

but a picture itself of just what looks to be a forumpost can not be checked. 

i have myself quite a lot of old copies some direct of screen copied, others printed and later scanned, most of my own posts i written on a forum i co owned many years ago. but also stuff i gathered for civil court cases.

it is very easy to use them as a template and just fiddle another nickname, an avatar and some text in. even with the old scissors and glue technique that is possible. i have even seen complete false email copies, amateurs of course, they do not know that your computer knows, when you do what to any doc. 

so no, unknown source is simply not enough. unless you like to build sandcastles. it is no problem to wait until knowing it is the real deal or not. it not a train that you have to catch. so if the original ends up in the courts, we could still voice an opinion about it.

COPS searching for Madeleine McCann believe their prime suspect may have taken pictures of her and buried them.

German drifter Christian B is alleged to have taken twisted “trophies” from victims — though it has never been publicly confirmed if any exist of Madeleine.

It has emerged detectives had specifically hoped to find data drives or USB sticks when they dug around Arade reservoir in Portugal in May.

None were found in the area where he camped and no forensic matches are expected — but officers think Christian B had a string of other hidden lairs.

The Sun has also learned investigators have received no new tip-offs or leads for months.

A source said: “They now know Christian B buried data carriers like hard drives and USB sticks at any of the places where he’s stayed so that was their real hope at the lake.

“They really thought they might find pictures there, but they are not giving up hope.

"They believe he made duplicates because he loved to keep them like trophies.

"So cops are now trying to find out more about Christian B's movements.”

German police were criticised for sending Christian B a subpoena in 2013 asking him to account for his whereabouts when Madeleine, then three, disappeared during a family holiday in Praia da Luz in 2007.

Experts said it would have given the convicted sex offender a chance to destroy evidence.

However, officers have established he was so obsessed with his collection of vile images that he made duplicates — and may have overlooked a stash.

A source close to the case said: “They fear it’s the last chance to clarify Madeleine’s fate — and if they don’t seize it, there won’t be a second.

“It is not like cops are getting that many more leads and tip-offs.

“They have already worked through the most promising leads.”

It also emerged that 55-year-old parents Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, have been kept in the dark over the German probe because they are considered witnesses.

The source added: “The family was only informed one day before officers went public about Christian B.

"Other than that, they have had no briefings or updates whatsoever.

“As far as the Germans are concerned, the McCanns are witnesses — completely normal witnesses, as in other cases, and they know no more or less than anyone else.”

Christian B is currently in jail in Germany for the 2005 rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Praia da Luz.

Prosecutor Christian Wolters said: “Clearly finding any pictures of Madeleine would represent a huge step forwards.

“We are not commenting further at this time.”

Christian B's lawyer declined to comment.

Earlier this week the McCanns finally received an apology from Portuguese police for initially making them suspects.

DRIFTER Christian B lived in a VW T3 Westfalia camper van and drove around Europe until 2015.

Detectives believe he visited the remote Barragem do Arade reservoir in the days after Madeleine vanished.

In the following months he is thought to have stayed in the Villa Bianca in the Algarve village of Foral.

Around the same time he also had stints living in the German city of Dresden and Augsburg in Bavaria.

He also visited Sylt and Munich.

From 2012 to 2014 he lived in Braunschweig, Germany.

In 2015 he briefly returned to the Algarve and sold the camper van.

Christian Brueckner , 47, is feared to have taken the images as trophies from his victims. Detectives in Portugal had believed they would find data drives when they organised digs near where the youngster vanished in 2007. However, none were found during the search by the officers, who also could not find any forensic evidence linking the suspect to the crime. Investigating police believe he has other hiding holes littered throughout the country which may hold clues.

A source told the Sun : “They now know Christian B buried data carriers like hard drives and USB sticks at any of the places where he’s stayed so that was their real hope at the lake. They really thought they might find pictures there, but they are not giving up hope. They believe he made duplicates because he loved to keep them like trophies. So cops are now trying to find out more about Christian B's movements.”

Christian B is currently serving a seven-year sentence for the 2005 rape of a pensioner in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz but has denied any involvement in Maddie's disappearance. Last month Police in Portugal have finally apologised to the parents of Madeleine McCann for the way detectives investigated the case and treated the family, according to reports.

Madeleine vanished in May 2007 while on holiday with her parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, in Praia da Luz, after they left the then three-year-old and her younger twin siblings asleep in their apartment while they went out to dinner with friends. In September 2007, detectives made them both "arguidos" - or suspects - in their daughter's disappearance. Now, it has emerged a delegation of senior Portuguese police officers travelled from Lisbon to London earlier this year, where they met and apologised to Mr McCann.

The delegation said the initial investigation was not handled properly, insufficient importance was given at the time to missing children, and officers did not properly appreciate the McCanns' position as foreigners in an environment they did not understand, BBC Panorama reports. Mr and Mrs McCann's status of "arguidos" was eventually lifted in 2008. In 2012, Scotland Yard detectives said they believed Madeleine could still be alive, released an age-progression picture of how she might look as a nine-year-old, and called on the Portuguese authorities to reopen the case, but Portuguese police said they had found no new material.

The lead suspect in the Madeleine McCann disappearance case may have taken pictures of the British toddler and hidden them, a police investigation has revealed.

Christian Brueckner, 46, is believed to have taken images of victims as so-called trophies.

Portuguese detectives also suggested they would find data drives during organised digs after the youngster vanished in 2007.

However, none were found during the subsequent searches and there was no forensic evidence linking the German-born suspect to the crime.

“They now know Christian B buried data carriers like hard drives and USB sticks at any of the places where he’s stayed so that was their real hope at the lake,” a source told The Sun.

“They really thought they might find pictures there, but they are not giving up hope.

“They believe he made duplicates because he loved to keep them like trophies.

“So cops are now trying to find out more about Christian B's movements.”

Brueckner is currently serving a seven-year sentence after being found guilty of raping a pensioner in 2005.

The 46-year-old consistently denied any involvement in McCann’s disappearance.

Portuguese police recently apologised to Kate and Gerry McCann for the way detectives investigated the case and treated the family.

Brueckner was quizzed as a witness in the case by German police in 2013.

Officers in Germany said in 2020 that they believed Brueckner kidnapped and murdered McCann.

However, German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters claimed German police are “more sure now” that Brueckner murder McCann.

Speaking in a new BBC Panorama documentary, 'Prime Suspect: Who Took Madeleine McCann?', Wolters said: "I can only say that we checked everything and we found no alibi."

He was asked again by the journalist: "And as far as you can see, there is no alibi?"

Wolters confirmed: "Yes, I'm sure."

When asked if they are "more sure now that he's the murderer", Wolters replied "yes, of course".

Christian Brueckner is not the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, there is no evidence whatsoever to link him to the case in way shape or form.

The rumour that Brueckner kept pictures of his victim as a trophy hails from one of the dubious witnesses associated with Brueckner - Manfred Seyferth if memory serves me well.  It's not worth the paper it's written on.

So we have an individual with a criminal record who collects photographs and videos of his victims as trophies, yet he carelessly leaves them here there and everywhere for any one to find.  So meticulous and covetous of his trophies, he buries memory sticks and photographs in the earth surrounding a reservoir in Portugal - a popular beauty spot visited by many.

Really?

I think it's past time the name Christian Brueckner was buried once and for all, along with his memory sticks, hopefully never to be dug up.

Body = you can whack down the undergrowth with big sticks and machetes 
USB Memory stick = not as big a stick
Fibre = no sticks at all 
there is little surprise that they didn't find what they were looking for.

it can not go anymore wrong. had all the guys their daddy day in a row and their still young offspring decided to make the news for just a day. 

no, dear jack, they do not know a german guy cb that is known to have a habit of planting usb drives in the ground, the only place that could be served a purpose to think that, and if it was his handywork, he put a dead dog on it, only we do not really know that for sure, they forgot to send the bugger to a court to see if he did do it and earned a verdict for that presentation. not even one for unlawful disposal of a dead animal.

so no there is only one event that maybe could be thinking the guy was into hiding stashes. the german police did indeed looked into that, they throw over 2 full properties and found nothing, well that was not enough adventures, and maybe, because they never told anyone why they had traveled to portugal to do a bit of digging near a reservoir bank. and no technology is not yet so far you can store stashes of files on a clasp of a bra. 

and no, pictures are not what is usual is seen as taking trophies of victims of crimes. you got that nicked from someone who just have been far to many hours on you tube, studying junk science, trophies of victims, are a bit too much seventies style serial killers, but isn't that just what is not there, you know dead bodies.

could have, believe, portuguese who suggested they could find data drives in 2007? , well that can reach out to be straight libel. so no originals, and that explains there must be of course copies, mmmm and i meant a grumpy mmmm with that. 

it almost reached the level of been using a set of ripp keys that have been nicked in 2006, but very logical been used in 2007 on 5a. or looking for a camera, that could have been hold pictures of madeleine mccann, because it was stolen a year earlier and soon after thrown in another reservoir.  

o, i do believe hcw did check everything and not only found no alibi, but no possible evidence too.

so we have a german guy who says he did not do it, and no evidence he did do it too, so why would he need an alibi? 

not exactly the creme de la creme of reporting, i would very likely may probably have not have been waiting till monday to fire them all on the spot, but of course only if i had checked if there was a spot there.

AT the end of a dark, narrow cobbled track I finally found the collection of derelict buildings, suffocated by knee high weeds and weighed down by history.

The former East German box factory, near the tiny Saxony village of Neuwegersleben, was one part of my journey into the heart of darkness that I couldn’t avoid.

It was here that the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case Christian Brueckner invested €36,000, through an auction in Leipzig, and here that police found up to 20,000 sickening photos and videos he had hidden in a Lidl bag under the body of his buried dead dog Charlie.

I arrived on a sunny afternoon to find nobody else about, although I recognised it from a number of press reports. It had taken some time to find the site, which spread over quite a number of hectares and its rusty old gate was chained shut and had a ‘Stop’ sign alongside it.

It was walking into the wide open expanse that you began to realise what an incredible opportunity this could have been for a pervert like Brueckner, 44, who officially told friends that he wanted it to be a car repair garage or some sort of sculpture garden.

As Chief Prosecutor in the case Hans Christian Wolters told me the following day: “If you want to sexually abuse kids, that is the right place, as nobody would see or hear anything. There are no neighbours!”



The site was divided into a grid of concrete squares and comprised around half a dozen buildings. The first thing I noted was the amount of underground areas, suggesting that it was once used for something rather more sinister than making boxes. Perhaps armaments. There were dozens of openings that led down to dark spaces, some interlinked and others full of rubbish.



I clambered into the first building, which had a collapsed roof and rubble piled up at least a metre high. On one wall the word Arbeit (job/ work) and two shorter words could just about be made out, not dissimilar to the words on the entrance gate at Auschwitz concentration camp: Arbeit macht frei (work sets you free).

I slowly wandered about the various buildings looking for anything of relevance until I stumbled across a side annexe with four huge plastic vats, presumably used to store the diesel that Brueckner stole on many occasions.

Next to it was another small annexe with one big, heavy garage door slightly ajar. I pushed it open and wandered in to find a pair of dirty mattresses propped up against the wall, a tub full of empty alcohol bottles and a pair of broken women’s sunglasses.

Could this be where Brueckner made some of his videos? Did he keep women, even children, chained up here?

There was only one small window with reinforced glass, so this would be the place for it, and given his 2013 Skype chat with his online friend panickspatz66 about ‘capturing something small’, it would fit the bill. ‘Particularly if evidence is destroyed afterwards,’ he had replied to his pal.

Shallow grave

I had those words etched in my brain so when I wandered to the back of the small annexe I did a double take. Looking recently dug up, and certainly not appearing in a single photo or video I had seen of the box factory, was what looked like a shallow grave, about 5ft in length and a foot and a half in in depth.



A pile of rubble, with chunks of concrete at the bottom, was next to it, while an empty bottle had been thrown in, almost for decoration. It was extremely sinister.

When I later brought it up with the prosecutor in nearby Braunschweig, he refused to be drawn on what they had found at the box factory, only admitting that they had recently been back.

The industrial site would have been one hell of a job for the police to examine and, it was reported that 100 of them had been in situ for the first few days of the search which began on January 14, 2016.

All around the site I found holes in the ground, openings leading to cellars and tunnels. Some areas had obviously been excavated by police, while many others appeared to have been ignored. But that is only guesswork.

The downright spookiest building was probably once the factory’s main office and it was the most intact.

I pushed open the door to go in and found a trapped bird flying around and tried to let it out, unsuccessfully.

This had obviously been the hub of activity and according to one of Brueckner’s friends Bjorn, who I talked to later, this was where he stored most of his stolen goods, including dozens of computers, solar panels and many other items. There were pots of paint, cutlery, countless chairs and tables, over a dozen computer monitors. A nasty looking circular saw cut into a workbench.

There was a kitchen, two bathrooms and a big room with dozens of shelves, which had up to 1,000 books on them (many more were strewn on the floor), as well as hundreds of old records, presumably all once stolen by Brueckner, including one by Barry Manilow, which I imagine wasn’t his taste.

The weirdest thing I found as I sifted through the cornucopia of neglect was a large series of circular symbols sprayed on the floor at the threshold of each room, a neo-Nazi-type Celtic cross in an electric orange colour.

They appeared to have been added recently, probably sprayed by police as they finished inspecting a room in the latest search.

With dusk falling I took my leave, not wanting to be stuck here at night and with an appointment already made with friends of Brueckner’s in Braunschweig, an hour’s drive away.

Braunschweig, I later learned, was where Adolf Hitler had been given citizenship in 1932 to allow him to run in that year’s German presidential election, and he was rewarded with a series of ministries once the Nazis took power the following year.

This included the Hitler Youth and even the SS training schools base, while a number of key armament factories were set up around the area.

It would certainly make sense that the nearby site in Neuwegersleben was one such facility. It would make more sense to blow the place up once the investigation into Brueckner is finally completed.

GO TO GRANADA!

It was two weeks after Christian Brueckner had been made a prime suspect into the Madeleine McCann case in June 2020 that I received a call from the Mirror to dig into him in Spain.

Talk about coincidences. I was actually reading a book about Orgiva, the Granada town, which I’d dubbed the ‘Glastonbury of southern Europe’ (and where, coincidentally, the Olive Press was born) when the reporter in London asked: ‘Can you get to a place called Orgiva?’

I almost fell off the sofa.

‘It’s where Brueckner’s friend Michael Tatschl lived for many years, the guy he went to prison with. I’ve tracked him down on Facebook and he would make an excellent interview.’



Despite omitting the fact that his Facebook page actually showed him leaving Orgiva in 2016 – or that his featured image showed him snarling at the camera with his middle finger sticking up – it was definitely worth the three-hour drive into the Sierra Nevada mountains.

Most of all though it came as a real Eureka moment when two dots itching to be joined were finally united as a concrete certainty: the hippie hangout of Barao de Sao Joao in the Algarve, where Brueckner lived for some time, now had a direct crime link to Orgiva, the new age capital of Spain.

I had long had a feeling Brueckner would have links to Orgiva, with its little-checked, free-spirited community of international travellers tucked away in a string of hidden valleys.

The Alpujarras is a region I know well having come across the fledgling Olive Press there in its first few months, while writing a travel article for the Mail.

GERMAN cops trying to crack the Madeleine McCann case have “just weeks” to save their investigation into the prime suspect, it can be revealed.

The Sun has learned that detectives probing Christian B fear the investigation could collapse by the New Year unless a fresh lead is found.

It comes just days after the convicted sexual predator's own lawyer told a BBC investigation the work of the German officers was on “shaky foundations".

Christian B is yet to be formally charged - but was named by cops as the prime suspect after three-year-old Madeleine vanished in 2007 while on a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal.

A source close to the investigation told The Sun: “The next few weeks are make or break for the detectives investigating Christian B.

"Publicly they are saying they remain convinced he is linked to Maddie’s disappearance, and that they will present evidence in due course.

"But, privately, the case is close to collapsing.

"There’s no new leads, and the primary witness they were relying on has totally gone offside."

That witness is Helge B, a convicted criminal who, up until earlier this year, was reportedly working with German cops sharing intelligence about his former pal, Christian B.

Our source added: "Helge B hasn’t been supporting detectives for a long time, and there is a huge black shadow over everything he’s told them up until this point.

"The reality is that without a fresh lead or a change in the direction of the investigation the probe into Christian B will be dead in the water by the New Year.

"The clock is ticking and what makes things even harder is the fact that relations between the German cops and Portuguese officers are at an all time low."

Our story comes days after Christian B’s lawyer claimed the police investigation into Madeleine McCann is close to "crashing down", as authorities continue to search for the missing girl.

Friedrich Fulscher spoke to a BBC investigative journalist as part of a new documentary, "Prime Suspect: Who Took Madeleine McCann?"

He criticised the "lack of substance" in the case and claimed that it is close to collapse.

He said: "This is rather a sign that the prosecution's investigations are built on very, very shaky foundations, so that the slightest breath of wind could possibly bring the entire construct crashing down, and this is an indication of how lacking in substance this investigation is."

German prosecutors revealed sex offender Christian B was their prime suspect in June 2020 - and said they had "strong" evidence against him.

Prosecutors have since been determined to prove that the convicted sex offender was the one who snatched and possibly killed Madeleine.

They believe he initially planned to rob the holiday apartment before he "moved on to a sexual motive".

The fiend is a prolific burglar, who has previous convictions for sex crimes against young girls.

He has been linked with the disappearances of several children over the past 25 years, including that of a six-year-old boy in Portugal in 1996 and a five-year-old girl in Germany in 2015.

In May cops from Portugal and Germany scoured the Arade Dam near Silves, 31 miles from Praia da Luz, for clues.

Cops have hit several dead ends trying to nail Christian B - but his former friend came forward with damning claims that became the cornerstone of the German force's probe.

German Helge B was a criminal pal of drifter Christian B when they lived in the Algarve around the time of Madeleine's disappearance.

He told cops he was chilled by Christian B’s alleged dark confession when the pair met at a music festival in Spain a short time after the tot vanished.

As the pair discussed the case over beers, Christian B was said to have coolly confided: “She didn’t scream.”

The convicted rapist and child sex attacker clearly implied he had taken Madeleine, Helge B told cops.

But the case was left hanging by a thread as sources close to the German probe said the key witness was “wobbling” and threatening to stop helping.

Christian B is currently serving a seven-year sentence for the brutal rape of a pensioner in Portugal at a high-security prison known as the "Alcatraz of the North" in the German city of Oldenburg.

He could face trial as early as February next year for a string of heinous alleged crimes including three rapes and two sex attacks on children, it was reported last month.

Two of the alleged rapes are said to have taken place at his former residence outside Praia da Luz, where Madeleine disappeared.

In the BBC documentary, a woman said Christian B ran a "rebellious gang" in Würzburg, Germany when he was a teenager.

And others who encountered him in the years following Madeleine's disappearance spoke of his violent and aggressive nature.

Bar manager Brigitte Szegedi recalled the "fits of rage" she witnessed him have with other patrons, while a former employee of the suspect claimed he once confronted him with a knife.

It was also revealed that Portuguese police apologised to Madeleine's parents for the way they handled their daughter's disappearance.

Kate and Gerry McCann were made "arguidos" - or suspects - in the investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance.

Both were questioned by Portuguese detectives, who believed they had staged an abduction and concealed their daughter’s body.

Kate McCann has said she was offered a deal to admit covering up her daughter’s death in exchange for a shorter sentence.

The couple’s arguido status was lifted in 2008, but they remained under suspicion in Portugal for years.
