Following yet another week of intense media focus, convicted child sex offender Christian Brückner has said he had nothing to do with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Reports on his “first public comment” were made by Brückner’s lawyers as it is becoming increasingly clear that unless ‘concrete evidence’ is produced linking him to the case, he could walk free within a matter of weeks.
The 43-year-old German has served the statutory ⅔ of his current jail term, and is appealing a rape conviction on legal technicalities.
If successful, he would likely be released “immediately” which German police are reported as fearing would see him ‘flee’ to a jurisdiction that has no extradition agreement with Germany.
Meantime, the press has been full of every kind of lurid unsolved murder possible, suggesting Brückner could have been responsible for any or all of them.
This is despite there being nothing more than circumstantial evidence at best, or indeed no evidence at all, to link him to the cases.
The Resident has spoken to people who remember Brückner from the early 2000s, and while they attest to him being “very weird” and giving off the impression that “there was something not quite right about him”, there was nothing to suggest he was a predatory serial killer.
Nonetheless, mainstream media is adamant that German investigators believe they have their man.
German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters insists the force has ‘concrete evidence’ not only that Madeleine is dead, but that Brückner caused her death.
But he has also confused the issue massively by saying a) there is a possibility that Madeleine is still alive, and b) that a letter has been sent to her parents to say that she is dead.
Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, have taken to social media to categorically deny receiving a letter to this effect, and to decry the “many inaccurate stories reported in the media”.
UK reports that police are to start excavating in wells and around homes used by Brückner during his spells in the Algarve also appear to be unsubstantiated.
Portuguese press stories on Wednesday suggest “at this moment the authorities are at an impasse”.

The German Christian B. could be putting the wind up Mitchell, he doesn't know what he's going to say. Mitchell is used to being in control and now he cant control the situation.

He looks like sh*t as if he's a down and out and being living on the streets for the past 6 months. Or is it all for show and he will soon be claiming "mental problems" as did Alastair Campbell, the master manipulator of weapons of mass destruction that never existed?

AC adhered himself to one of Prince William's Mental Health Charities (hiding in plain sight) hoping people will feel sorry for him and forget about all the thousands of lives he was complicit in in destroying.

Just like Mitchell, how many lives have the McCanns destroyed in the past 13 years, including the shop owners and hotel/apartment owners in PdL, whilst Mitchell has stayed by their side like their little lap dog, getting paid a huge salary, defending them from all nasty accusations whilst completely forgetting about Madeleine as if she never existed.

What could the concrete evidence be?, a photo? a tape recording? Very strange that a police force would say such a thing to the media before their investigation was complete. Suspect named and tried by media before he can be charged (nasty piece of work that he is). And saying they sent a letter to the Mcs, Mcs saying they got no letter. Is there anything straightforward about this case?

"They have a suspect, but its nothing to do with us".

"We haven't received a letter".

The same with Netflix, that crazy documentary was designed to exonerate them but of course, they wanted no part of it.

If they were seen to be party to these claims there would be less credibility in them. Do they really think that we were all born yesterday?

Wouldn't they have just contacted the British police who would then send an officer round to tell the McCanns in person? Thats the usual procedure when they have to inform the family of a death isn't it?
