Tonight's Coronation Street - Antihistamine Overdosing of a Baby
I wonder if the McCanns are Coronation Street fans & if so what they thought when the storyline ended with Steve MacDonald's kid being overdosed with an antihistamine medication & the inference that it might not have been accidental.
It finished with the hospital doctor wanting to grill the parents about how it had happened.
Lol.

Re: Tonight's Coronation Street - Antihistamine Overdosing of a Baby
As a hay-fever sufferer (very severe) I was surprised to note that the McCanns had terfenadine with them in Luz. I would not have expected them to have needed it in such a climate in late Spring. The lack of those pollens (which are the typical culprits) in Mediterranean-type coastal areas, mean they are a haven for sufferers, even during peak season. The end of April/start of May is also a little early to expect symptoms. Typically they present from mid-May until mid-August, then abate. Although terfenadine claims to cause less drowsiness than older antihistamines I have never found this to be the case. In fact it knocks me out and even leaves me a little groggy the next day. However, I look forward to my holidays in these regions particularly because I will be sneeze and wheeze free for the duration. Terfenadine can be dangerous, even at recommended dosage. Apart from grogginess they can cause sudden arrhythmias, low blood pressure and fainting spells. However, as they are non-habit forming they are sometimes used and even prescribed, for short-term sleep problems.

Re: Tonight's Coronation Street - Antihistamine Overdosing of a Baby
I've always got paracetamol to hand - that doesn't mean I'm anticipating getting a headache.
Oh I don't know though !
Besides, the pollen count is dependent on climatic conditions which varies from hour to hour, day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year.
Still, back to real life - what's next on Coronation Street?

Anyone can develop an unexpected headache but only hay-fever sufferer will get hay-fever. No one else in my family goes thus prepared as they wouldn't expect to need it in the same way that I don't carry beta-blockers, not having hypertension. The most common triggers are timothy, rye and red-top which do not flourish in Med-type climates. It may mean nothing, but Dr. Amaral suspected some form of soporific had been used and that is the only thing found in their possession which could fit the bill. Of course that may mean nothing. I suspect the adults hadn't found they needed it as all had consumed alcohol regularly, contraindicated for terfenadine.Verdi wrote:I've always got paracetamol to hand - that doesn't mean I'm anticipating getting a headache.

I have to admit that I didn't intend my post to become a discussion on either Coronation Street or medications, but rather to conjure up a mental image of the McCanns if they were sat watching.Verdi wrote:I've always got paracetamol to hand - that doesn't mean I'm anticipating getting a headache.

Re: Tonight's Coronation Street - Antihistamine Overdosing of a Baby
There's also been a couple of storylines in Emmerdale with one baby being abducted after being left in the back of a car, and now Rhona who admits to leaving her baby sleeping in a Hotel room so she could go to the late-night chemist for her drug fix.
Looks like the McCanns are leaving a legacy of 'It's ok to leave babies and young kids alone' while you have some 'me time'.
Well done Kate and Gerry.

I vaguely remembered seeing a press report only recently about a soap abduction story line being axed because of the Madeleine McCann case.
Just checked it out, this must have been it..
CORRIE’S MADDIE PANIC
Coronation Street axed child kidnap storyline following ‘disturbing similarities’ to Madeleine McCann case
The soap’s executive producer says storyline would have ‘too distressing’ for audiences

Short video clip. "I'm Mick Neville, retired Chief Inspector from Scotland Yard..... I'm here in Portugal some ten years after Madeleine McCann's disappearance, to see if images could play a role in finding her......"

Seems this story line was planned around the time Madeleine 'disappeared', I remember also there was talk of much the same thing as regards EastEnders. Why the Sun thinks it appropriate to re-hash the report now, for the tenth anniversary I'm at a loss to understand.
What of all the other story lines churned out week after week - do they consider all the hundreds and thousands of people who are living in the nightmare of terminal illness, rape, genuine child abduction, disability, drug dependence, accidental death, dementia, loss of a pet etc etc etc?
Bah!

Re; Tonights Coronation Street.
Hi Verdi, perhaps there is an agenda towards a"Thesis"of what may have happened in an episode of Coronation Street-Madeleine McCann and that is where it ends?Verdi wrote:I vaguely remembered seeing a press report only recently about a soap abduction story line being axed because of the Madeleine McCann case.

"Coronation Street" is not real life, but Madeleine McCann is a part of real life situation, that until now remains a disappearance from her Holiday apartment, reported by her parents Kate and Gerry 3 May 2007?
It is the millions of Pounds associated to this little girl,Madeleine and the amount of people involved in not wanting to pursue the"Truth",that is what is paramount to the case?
Why or how is it possible for Two Doctors(struggling financially) suddenly have access to QC's who have represented the Queen of England,Pinochet in past cases, have a"Ward of Court document"(Hayes McIntyre)drafted on their missing daughter Madeleine?
