I don't think it's necessary for a third option ( 3. Don't know) because none of us know but maybe we can vote with our gut instinct...

In my heart I believe it will be a whitewash. sad

But I also believe that we all have to reap what we sow. So one way or another...

If they are allowed to look at ALL the info then game over .[ some of it maybe to give the impression they are working with them ] .
Because if they were made Arguido  , they would NOT step foot back in Portugal again . so rock and hard place .

Without a body, with it full exoneration ,[ platitudes from fawning SY coppers don't count ,] they will never be truly cleared in the publics eyes .

And i, know for one, organisations and charities that will not touch them .

[  BTW  it is very creepy taking pic's in a busy room at an event, and bumping into one of the main protagonist's , it doe's send you cold ] .  I wont mention any names .

100% whitewash.

They have been whitewashing it for the last 6 years. Nothing that has happened recently makes me think it will be any different.

In fact, Redwood has now let Jane Tanner off the hook. She can now never face charges for lying about what she saw. They are winding the case down and covering everyone's back.

Justice now the Portugese are back in the picture.

I have seen no evidence they are no longer suspects, only press reports.  I have seen no evidence of them attending the meeting in Lisbon and being kept in the loop.  They were spoken with after the meeting, not the same thing at all.

They have not yet made the application to become assistants.  It may still be refused, if they go ahead with the application.  That's a gamble for them, if they are refused it sends out the message they are still suspects.  I shall be interested to see if they go ahead with this.

The finding of the innocent British father may be to protect tanner if she has confessed to lying and spilled the beans.  Only speculation on my part, but as things stand it is a possibility.

No prosecution for neglect because maybe there was no neglect or indeed there my be legal reasons why these charges cannot be brought.

Can we have a 'both' option?

I've voted 'justice' because I believe those responsible for this child's disappearance will be brought to account in the not too distant future but given that they are habitual, albeit not particularly good, liars, I also believe we may never know the unvarnished truth of why it was necessary for her to disappear.

I'm convinced there has been conspiracy in this case, but not of the type involving high ranking government officials/the Catholic church/etc having some vested interest in covering their backsides.  IMO the truth in this particular matter is that a comparatively small group of deeply odious individuals exploited the compassion which all right-minded people feel on the loss of a child and used their professional status to manipulate the media.

IME politicians, press barons, and would-be philanthropists will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid being seen with egg on their faces. Once they've nailed their colours to the mast they opt to keep them aloft rather than lose face but, when faced with the possibility of their poor judgement being exposed for all to see, it's also extraordinary how quickly the colours come down and the cannons are loaded.

Following a series of blunders and gaffes which have placed their competence to police the capital under close scrutiny by their political masters, and given other high profile operations they are 'masterminding' (I use the word lightly), SY are well aware they have a lot to prove and, given the PJ's desire to erase the stain left on their reputation by a bunch of low life opportunists, I have no doubt both forces are working together to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime, or crimes as the case may be.

Although my optimism doesn't exceed my realism I believe that, at very long last, justice will prevail for Madeleine McCann.

Yes well and truly off the fence now - Justice.

If no justice then I think the internet will collapse with all the calls of WHITEWASH worldwide.

The internet is a wonderful thing, we have become so used to it now I think we forget what it was like without it.

I swing back and forth daily (oo er) but i'm in the camp that Justice will happen today, who knows how i will feel tomorrow.
Can't see why they would cause all this fuss if it was going to be a whitewash.

I believe taking the Paynes out of the CW show is an important part.

I know what you mean!

My current thinking is that there is a big difference between NSY and PJ enquiries. NSY seems more like a whitewash, but one constrained by AR's need to maintain some modicum of professional self-respect, hence the ditching of the JT sighting.  AR seems to have gone out of his way to facilitate Team McCanns' narrative. With the PJ, I am not sure. Even Rebelo couldn't bring himself to positively clear the McCanns, he essentially came out with an "insufficient evidence" verdict, but couched in words that were capable of being construed as "innocent" (or was it someone who put that gloss on his soft-pedalling investigation).

It will be interesting to hear what Amaral says about the new PJ inquiry. I will be v. interested to hear what he says.

The phone call analysis is conspicuous by their absence, but if D Payne had his mobile on him at the time he said he was in the McCann's apartment, and his mobile phone says he was nowhere near the apartment, then Payne has some explaining to do.

I have always felt that the mobile phones hold the answer to unlocking this case. Let's not forget, that the PJ have information that was never allowed to be used, as it's illegal to use information in retrospect.

I have voted justice .....their must be going to be a twist in all this .........[i have heard before were  the police have said a certaine person is not a suspect and then they have been charged]...like they deny things so as not to hinder the investigation etc etc

IMO ...jt sighting of abduct er was whoosh clucked ........to convenient [mayby the   start of  the  collapse of the timeline]....the release of the  e fit

i  watched  crocodile  tears last  night  worth a watch ...even if seen before ......the comment its not how they act its   what they say ...seeing  if the   story stays  the same  ....

to  me there appearance  on crime  watch  seemed  strange  ......................maybe because of  an ulterior  motive....

I say whitewash because of the recent comments from Redwood, Theresa May et al.  I do agree that there is a major reason for the omission of the Paynes in the CW programme but is it because of the link to the Gaspar statement.  I just don't know what to think anymore.

I voted justice and believe there will be justice for Madeleine. The CPS went to Portugal, the review became an investigation, we had CW and now the Portugese have reopened the case. DCI Redmond said something along the lines of all the strands coming together, IMO they have which has resulted in the reopening of the case.

I am hoping for justice. The fact that the case has been reopened and is running separately to SY investigation is what I am holding on to. Plus the fact that Kate and Gerry have applied for assistant status makes me think they are very afraid of where the PJ investigation is heading.

I swing from Justice to Whitewash and back but I am now leaning towards Justice.

They had their whitewash 6 years ago and that should have been enough.

There's no need to whitewash it again.

I get the feeling that something major has changed this time.

I voted justice, because this is just too big of case to cover up.
In order to whitewash a thing you must have near total control
over all aspects, players, press, police and Politicians, and also
two sovereign judiciaries, not to mention a reasonable and
realistic likelihood that it will remain whitewashed over time, and
the ever changing conscience/allegiances of all involved.
Furthermore, the internet in it's present form, will ensure that
a whitewash is unrealistic and unattainable.

It shouldn't matter but clearly the show was well edited before being aired to the point of being useless.  My thoughts are that lawyers for the paynes made sure they were not included in the programme.  I can only guess that it is because of the gaspar statements and possibly the paedophilia accusations on social network sites.  Links to the gaspar statements are one of the top links posted on twitter imo.   Next to Gerry and Kate, his name pops up the most.

Cant give either really, because I truly believe we will see Madeleine stood in front of a thousand photographers, soon in my opinion.
A highly political agenda will be the outcome.

I have voted whitewash as I believe it has always been possible to conspire to keep unsavoury happenings covered up as we have seen many times in the past.

But I am of the opinion that even if it is a whitewash, their reputation will be tainted for ever more.
