Sonia Poulton Being Sued

Hi there,

I joined this forum because I noticed your commentary about Sonia Poulton, an ... enthusiastic ... producer of content around Madeleine McCann.

I don't know if it is of interest, but Sonia is being sued by former Liberal MP John Hemming. She has also been interviewed by police for naming two child torture victims. She is counter-suing Hemming, myself (author of Matthew Hopkins News) and she tried to sue another man called Darren Laverty, who counter-counter-sued her.

There is an article on it on my website, with some of the court papers from the High Court:

The outcome so far is a £30,000 costs hit against Sonia at the last hearing alone, plus more costs against her from previous hearings to be assessed. She has also settled with Laverty but is now suing him and being sued for alleged breach of the settlement. She seems to regard any criticism of herself as, tanty

'harassment' tanty

and has gone through 5 (count 'em!) sets of lawyers. I infer the lawyers ain't the problem.

Whatever the outcome it paints a grim picture of her journalism.

You will appreciate that as a party to the case my primary concern with Sonia is not her McCann coverage, but it is pretty grim. She has been rehashing the same case for years, her formula is just to have one-sided interviews with so-called, "experts" and adding to the pain of all concerned.

I thought the details of this other litigation she is involved in would inform y'all. Do let me know if any further information would help, and likewise apologies if it is not relevant.

DESPERATION TO HARM ME

More of what has been going on...

It is not just the police I am repeatedly reported to, but to private individuals and their advisors.

A number of complaints have been sent to Carter Ruck, for one example.

Carter Ruck, for those who don’t know, is the powerful UK libel lawyers who famously represent Kate and Gerry McCann.

My enemies work hard contacting anyone they feel may have an interest in suing and pursuing me at home and abroad.

They contact my livestream guests and smear me with the aim of having people pull out.

They contact people who have hired me and they lie and threaten them into dropping me.

The desperation to harm me - and in a multitude of ways - is obvious to all who have come back to tell me what has happened behind my back. It has gone on for too long and it must stop. I am now prepared to fully fight back.

It has been an onslaught - mental, emotional and physical - but I am still here.

Interesting you should post that @Silentscope. Sonia heatedly denies, in her court pleadings, that passage is about the other parties to the case. Now, I happen to argue that is rhubarb, and interestingly, you honed in on that passage as being about us and our case - unprompted - whilst she is desperately denying it refers to us. rotfl

Let us just say that in my opinion Sonia, representing herself without legal training, is no better at litigation than she is at journalism ...

I haven't got an opinion of Sonia, one way or another, because I haven't followed much about her over the years - I know she doorstepped the McCanns and not sure how she got away with that.

Tony Bennett knows more about her than I do, so he'll probably have something to say.

Yes, she's quite infamous isn't she?

She's not our greatest fan, to be fair, she calls this forum a 'cesspit'. She even blocked me on twitter without me ever having said a word to her - just because I'm the forum owner!

Don't worry Jill you are in good company. The last court hearing she rambled for hours about her many enemies, representing herself, whilst the judge tried to gently steer her towards pleadings that are actually, y'know, relevant.

I think it underlines the wisdom of the old American saying, "when everyone else is the asshole, you're the asshole".

Sonia talks about Madeleine McCann for 12 minutes, 1hr 7min to 1hr 19min.

She is extremely sketchy and her best explanation is that Madeleine, in a Calpol-induced haze, heard her father talking to Jez Wilkins at 9.15pm on Thursday 3 May, climbed out of bed and onto the sofa by the window, fell off and "cracked her head open".

So how then did they get her body out of the way in about 45 minutes??

It is lamentable that she thereby discounted 99% of the evidence that's carefully been accumulated on CMOMM for the past 14 years.
