If you watch a cheap production at the theatre . you are left less than impressed at the end . SY with there helicopters , Cops in suits and briefcases, riding into town , being snapped bang on cue . then the blitz of officers scouring the scrubland ,finding an innocuous kiddies den, treating it like they had just unearthed Ramesses II .
Its all a grand finale ' Look we have thrown the lot at it and we conclude that ....... " then the people go home ,the show may have been crap, but the production value was good so fair enough .
The PJ may state ALL there findings , [ which is SY main aim in the first place, to get the info they need to square this thing up ] it will be ignored or rubbished , and the show will be over . Ditto if GA publishes .
There is NO body , it's long gone . This will all be over when the weather gets a bit shi**y again , probably when the footie is back on the TV .
There is nothing coming out of Portugal that makes me think otherwise .
Sex n Drugs N rock N roll a potent mix .
If this is true it is possible the PJ called SY's bluff.
SY put in a request for a dig, they did it at a time when they knew it would cause a local uproar with it being the holiday season. I wouldn't mind betting that SY expected the request to be denied and then they could claim they couldn't continue through lack of co-operation.
Being agreed SY have had to go along with the show making it look like they acted on some kind of intelligence. The whole thing looks like a shambles in front of the whole press so they have had to extend it. At very least in the end they can say, well we did all we could but lost 2 days through their public holidays.
Think that is possible, I could be wrong but usually finger tip / forensic style searches are carried out on a sector by sector basis, this looks like they are acting on "specific intelligence" (an almost meaningless expression in this case) eg they have pin pointed areas, cordoned them off then searched only those areas in detail. Sure the dogs are there but if they wanted to corroborate anything they found then other material from elsewhere in the site could be invaluable. Doesn't look like that type of search, unless "Someone" (guess who??) has given incredibly accurate info on the whereabouts of certain item/s in which case I'd doubt that sort of search would be carried out under the full glare of the media.

Yeah just seen.
maddie cops doing a probing exercise. Holes that were 'dug' being filled in.
McCanns pleased with progress being 'made'!
Whatever that means!
No reason given WHY this 'new' area of 'search'
Smith's mentioned.
PLUS the THREE 'burglators'
Looks like 'back fitting', imo.
Reported by Tom Burridge.
Who is on record as saying : "This investigation is ANYTHING but 'normal' and it has NEVER been 'normal' from the very day Madeleine McCann disappeared"

Re: Digging to start next week (continuation of automatically locked thread) - UPDATE... starting today 2/6/14
Criminologist Professor David Wilson, sadly told the Sunday World that in all likelihood, that Maddie is dead and was murdered with in 48 hours.
“Statistically, victims of abductions are killed with in 48 hours and the younger they are the more likely they are to be killed earlier. It is sad but that is what the figures say”, he said.
Doesn't this statistic completely negate what Gerry is always trying to tell us?
Dad Gerry said this week that statistics showed the younger a child is when abducted, the more likely they are to be found.

Could ANYONE on this forum please give me a definitive explanation for DCI Redwood stating the following:
DCI Andy Redwood:
".................and it is our belief as experienced investigators, (emphasised) ON THE EVIDENCE that erm, that y'know. that, that, is a criminal act that has been y'know undertaken by, by a stranger.........."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What 'EVIDENCE' does he have or would make (30?) experienced investigators BELIEVE (to the total exclusion of ALL OTHER 'explanations' as to why Madeleine is not here) that Madeleine was 'involved' in a criminal act undertaken by a stranger?

Peter Cook did a sketch once in which he was a Police Inspector.. "it is our belief that this robbery was carried out by thieves".

I've just noticed that on the photo she doesn't have that little pink lump.
I googled it: the inner canthus is missing

IF, as the McCanns themselves, 'believe' that Madeleine 'could be' living with a family that wanted a child, WHY are the, almost entire, OG 'team' extensively searching scrubland at the 'snail'?
Unless 'the family' the McCanns possibly think Madeleine 'could be with' LIVE on the 'snail' there's no rhyme nor reason as to why OG are 'searching' there, is there?
All a little bit abnorma/surreal for a 'search' for a LIVE Madeleine, to be being conducted on the 'snail' methinks.
Is it possible that the OG 'team' HAVE to 'find something' that will enable them to 'justify' this whole 2 weeks, taxpayer funded, 'search'?

Wow....if looks could kill...why would you have to recompose yourself like that if you weren't acting. All IMHO of course.maebee wrote:Looking back on old vids this evening I just noticed something I hadn't noticed before. In this vid GM is all smiles up to 12.26 when he thinks the interview is over. Another interviewer (Central Television) then asks him to say something about the support in Rothley. This seemed to hit a raw nerve with him. So much so, that the interviewer had to apologise for asking the question.

I've just been googling (I don't recommend it there are some nasty, nasty eye pictures) and I don't know. From what I can tell, foetal alcohol syndrome like down syndrome causes a fold of skin over the corner over the eye but the inner canthus is still there.
I think it's simply bad photoshopping.

I think it's actually the caruncula that's missing. I just looked at pics of my kids when they were very young ad their's are missing too. They are present now they are older though. I don't think it's unusual in babies and young children.

WHAT are they actually extensively 'searching' for, in your opinion?
Obviously NOT a 'live' Madeleine.

Re: Digging to start next week (continuation of automatically locked thread) - UPDATE... starting today 2/6/14
Now being reported 'search' will be focussed on 'similar' land (as the snail) between PDL and the nearby town of Lagos which is 5-7 miles away along the coast.
Would make more 'sense' as lots of posters here have said.
Out of PDL.
Rather blows the Smithman 'intell', dosen't it?
The Mccanns, and extended family, would NOT have stayed in PDL, with the chance of a 'discovery' of 'something' in PDL would they?
imo, they all 'knew' NOTHING would, by chance, be 'discovered' in PDL while they were ALL 'in residence'

This can't be a show - a show would have ended on the snail with the police throwing their hands up and saying, "Well, we tried."
The lack of any real information about what's been discovered, moving the search and the extension to the digging deadline, gives me hope that the police have found something.
@ TheTruthWillOut, I've read your post about Waardenburg Syndrome & I will look but I need time for my stomach to settle after seeing some of the eye pictures on google (yes - I'm a wimp )

Anyone know the 'distances' between PDL, Lagos, Burgau and Sagres?
Sagres, where a lot of the McCann 'family' went on a 'family' outing?
June 8th/9th 2007.
5 weeks after Madeleine disappeared was the weekend commencing Friday June 8, 2007. When we look closely at that weekend, there are several interesting things to note:
The McCann family flew in to the Algarve or were already there for that weekend. Susan and Brian Healy – Kate’s parents – were there. Trish and Sandy Cameron – Gerry’s sister and his brother in-law were there. Philomena flew in to Lisbon and Kate’s long time friend Anne-Marie Wright and her husband Michael had flown in to Faro.
Michael told the police that he and his wife flew in with the specific job of looking after Sean and Amelie while Kate and Gerry went to Morocco on Sunday June 10. Given the large number of close family relatives in town, Michael’s statement to the police is' flawed'.
On Saturday June 9, 2007, the entire family is supposed to have spent a day at the southwestern tip of Portugal – a town called Sagres.
Was Madeleine disposed of during the weekend of June 8?
Did John McCann inadvertently let it slip that this was the weekend when Madeleine was finally laid to rest or disposed of?

not sure re helicopter activity, but iirc Lagos is in the opposite direction to Burgau and Sagres.

"look there, not here"?
Sagres?
eta: search 'between PDL and Lagos' (east)
That WOULD include Kate's 'dream' cliff(s) then, wouldn't it?
Although Kate did NOT have a 'dream about cliff(s)' as GM forcefully told us outside the courtroom in Lisbon!
