Check out the daily Mail and how far the story has slipped down the page, way way down. The site moves articles up and down as the day goes on according to popularity.
The public are not interested, I think there has been so much fiction and downright lies this year that people are McCanned out.
BTW remember the Pampas grass blowing about on the early Panorama AFAIK that was filmed beside where they are searching.

Tents erected on search site
Just seen this in twitter by 5news.
They've erected two tents on the search site. Sorry, I don't know how to post photos.

Found something?
Searches for the missing British girl Madeleine McCann have begun in the Portuguese resort of Praia da Luz on a piece land roughly the equivalent of three football pitches. A white tent was erected at the site around mid afternoon.
Found something?

No Pershing, the opposite. Imagine looking at Luz head on with the sea in front, to the west is where the seach is, the left side, Rocha negra to the east, right side. They jogged up there, as I said a great place to meet helpers at the back of Boavista golf.

No. They jogged through the town to the East and then up Rocha Negra mostly, boasting that their "PB was 19 minutes"Pershing36 wrote:Quick question.

It was said when they started to dig tents would be put up to keep it private. I hope the PJ are recording everything.

No. It's the canteen tent, with the sardine sandwiches ! !
Priorities - Logistics, Commissariat, Admin, Support, and then action
stopping only to organise a date for the re-union, and holding a plenary session to design the commemorative tie !

Indeed Jean. And reading through the evidence of some of the men arrested under Operation Ore, it appears the police were selective in who they prosecuted.jeanmonroe wrote:They had the formidable presence of Jim Gamble and his task force policing the internet, tracking down 'perverts' to name, shame and manipulate forever more.

Hmmm, i wonder WHY not?
After all 'everyone KNEW' about 'them' at the BBC, didn't they?
INCLUDING Childline 'founder' ER!
BUT both Gamble and ER and the rest of the BBC kept 'schtum'!
And numerous children were ABUSED because of that!
The way I see things at the moment, the buck cannot stop with the parents alone. They had huge amounts of assistance, Kate wrote about in KH1 - albeit in a whiney, they could have done more tone. They had fixers arranging their European tour, making sure they met the 'right' people and were given the best accommodation, they had billionaires offering them private jets and Oprah Winfrey fighting off rivals to get the exclusive interview. (not that exclusive - they are regulars on Lorraine). All of these people , some of whom abused their official positions to help the McCanns, should be answerable to OG. Lets also not forget their dinner with the creepy Ray Wyre, their evening of culture with Clement Freud and the blessing of the Pope. Kudos to the Royal Family bodyguards for never giving the enthusiastic Team McCann a photo opportunity. They would be unbearable if they had a royal seal of approval for the Maddie Brand.
When I think of the number of people who MUST have been involved, I can begin to understand the scale of OG. This is endgame I'm sure. I just can't see the UK paying for, and the Portuguese agreeing, to the physical excavation of land without credible evidence of where to dig. I remember watching a programme about Fred and Rosemary West. In trying to find the remains of his first wife, Fred led the police to a nondescript field, where he eventually remembered where he had buried her and her remains were found. The police however, could not have found anything if Fred had not co-operated.

I really want to believe this is some kind of endgame but however much I try - i cant feel enthusiastic. Cant believe a body would've been buried there due to 'hire car' and close proximity but maybe some evidence that is blue or pink would be helpful... but fingers crossed you are right.Cristobell wrote:Indeed Jean. emoticons insert themselves where they want to go, and I cannpt rectify it.

Possibly evidence of an initial shallow grave that held her from the afternoon of the 3rd? I think your caution is well-placed though as even today we hear that SY are leading with the burglary gone wrong, killed and taken story. With the sex predator as backup presumably?
However if they do find evidence of death then surely the spotlight has to include the parents. The dogs evidence has not even been mentioned in a historical context, and perhaps that is a strict instruction to the media. And if they are making genuine discoveries this early, then the McCanns absence is all the more suspicious. SY were briefing them remember, so they ion what to expect.

I just heard that journalists are asking locals for interviews to camera that are sympathetic to the parents. They are being told where to shove their cameras and recorders.

It will be very hot and working in one small area they would need protection from the sun as well as prying eyes/camera lenses.Poe wrote:[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

------------------------------------------------
And aren't there, at this very moment SEVEN police 'officers' under investigation into their roles surrounding 'pervert' Ian Watkins?
Earlier this month an inquiry was launched into whether the celebrity status of Watkins delayed him being brought to justice. The BBC reports that gross misconduct notices have been served on seven police officers from three different forces as part of an investigation into how allegations made against Watkins were dealt with by police. Three officers from South Yorkshire Police; two from Bedfordshire Police and two from South Wales Police are all under investigation.
How come the self proclaimed 'guru' and 'protector' of young girls, JG, didn't see this one, Watkins case, coming?
Did he KNOW? (on the 'grapevine' about 'CELEBRITY' Watkins 'penchants', and did er, um, NOTHING!)

Are the comments in the Daily Mail actually real?
Please tell me that was somebody's idea of a sick joke.

The McCanns have done all they can. Answered everything put to them. No one could have put themselves on the line more than they. They have run for charity. They have jogged their hearts out to help in this mammoth search. Not a day has gone by when they have known peace of mind. Let us hope all this hard work has paid off and the real perpetrators caught up with at long last.

The PJ would, imo, send it ANYWHERE in the world, OTHER than the UK!
And who could/would blame them, after the last 'fiasco' at the UK's FSS?

I'd like to think that it is tongue in cheek. I read the jogged their hearts out to help the search as being very mocking. I hope that's the inference anyway; that and the never knowing peace of mind.Clay Regazzoni wrote:Are the comments in the Daily Mail actually real?Imogen, Truro, United Kingdom, 4 hours ago

To avoid any conflict it would've been important both parties agreed on a suitable lab in advance of this work.

i have been trying to estimate the full on-costs of this, but it gets bigger by the minute.tiny wrote:question for PeterMac.

Given the level of planning
given the level of permissions needed (warrants of entry)
given the level of organisation which has clearly gone into this, this time round - all the equipment obviously lined up properly so that work can start immediately
given the visits by the CPS to Portugal last year
given . . .
given . . .
I do not believe this can be seen as a whim of an old DCI sitting back in his soft reclining chair and saying "Lets go and dig a few holes just to make it look good "
So perhaps a concrete herring.

Does someone want to try to count the numbers of people and vehicles involved,
Security at and round the site will be 24 hours = 3 full shifts of officers, and 5 if we go into the weekend
SY have sent officers (Grange) plus other specialists, non police, who will be on generous fees and expenses.
And so on
Re: Digging to start next week - UPDATE... starting today 2/6/14
True Nina, it's scorching today. Unfortunately people on Facebook sites have seen the tents and put two and two together to make five.
