That's exactly what I think too.
And it's a horrible picture I have in my head.

Yeap, that is an unusual time to bring phone into toilet. She must have meant to use it.

Oscar Pistorius to appeal against bail conditions
Lawyers for South African athlete Oscar Pistorius, who is charged with murdering his girlfriend, are due to challenge his bail conditions at a court hearing.
His lawyers will argue that the Olympic and Paralympics star should be allowed to return to his home, and to travel.
Mr Pistorius also wants an end to supervision by a probation officer and compulsory drug and alcohol testing.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
For a 'man' on bail for shooting and killing his girlfriend - that is not under dispute - he doesn't want much, does he? Bloody cheek.
I'm sure Reeva Steenkamp would have liked to see family, travel etc......
But that's not going to happen now is it?

His representatives argue that the double-amputee athlete is not a flight risk and should have the option of travelling outside South Africa as long as he has official permission.
It comes as a close friend said that the athlete is a "broken man".

He was a major risk to Reeva Steenkamp! She is not a broken woman, she is dead!
Oscar Pistorius is a risk to the public, 2 weeks before... he 'fired a gun by accident in a public restaurant and almost hit his boxer friend's foot'!

But hey, Oscar Pistorius has been so hard done by. Let him out of the country, where he never has to return to face the consequences of his actions

Re: Oscar Pistorius
The Judge who relaxes the bail condition is either naive or corrupted.
Requiring OP to hand over his passport within 24 hours of returning to the country is bloody useless, because it is on the premise that he returns. Surely the point of asking for the bail to be relaxed to enable him to get out of the country means he can choose to stay away and avoid the consequences.
With him awaiting trial for homicide what's the point of having him continue to represent the country? Is SA going to be honoured by an athlete if in the eventuality he's found guilty?
The Judge may end up red face, or facing disciplinary inquest when OP flees the country.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
I was just thinking earlier it would be irony if he should come to UK then decide not to return - well the first part seems about to happen (if some idiot invite him) and next part "not to return" is left to be seen. Well, I must be psychic, partially for now at least.
UK risks turning into a haven for criminals who want to escape justice of another jurisdiction.

IMO, while awaiting trial he should not be allowed to travel out of the country.
His legal team was taking the piss when they cited the reason for wanting bail condition changed was so that he can travel away "to avoid media attention". Hello, participating in an international sporting event attracts media attention!

Oscar Pistorius reappears in South African court
South African athlete Oscar Pistorius is back before Pretoria magistrates' court over the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The prosecution is expected to serve the athlete with an indictment for the premeditated murder of his girlfriend. A trial date will also be set.
Mr Pistorius, 26, denies murdering Reeva Steenkamp, saying he shot her after mistaking her for an intruder.
He was granted bail in February and has since resumed some low-key training.
The double amputee won gold at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and also competed at the Olympics.
His arrest in February stunned many South Africans who saw him as a national sporting hero after his long legal battle to be able to take part in the Olympics.
Ballistic evidence
State prosecutors are arguing that the killing was premeditated, a charge which carries a sentence of life imprisonment. They say he killed Ms Steenkamp intentionally after a fight.
But Mr Pistorius denies committing murder, claiming he shot his girlfriend through the bathroom door of his upmarket house in Pretoria after mistaking her for a burglar.
The prosecution is expected to hand over details of its case against Mr Pistorius at Monday's hearing, including a witness list and forensic reports.
Much depends on ballistic evidence from the bathroom where Ms Steenkamp was shot, says the BBC's Africa Correspondent Andrew Harding.

South African newspapers have reported that at least some of that forensic evidence appears to back up Mr Pistorius's version of events, he continues.
However, the prosecution is expected to call witnesses who will say the Olympic runner was preoccupied with guns, and had been arguing with his girlfriend.
Prosecutors told
the Associated Press news agency that additional charges might be added to the indictment but did not offer any details.
Last week, the police wrapped up their six-month investigation into Ms Steenkamp's killing.
"The South African Police Service is hopeful that justice will prevail," a statement from the office of South Africa's national police commissioner read.
In June, Oscar Pistorius resumed "low-key" training as a way to help him "process the trauma", a [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on his website read.
Mr Pistorius was freed on a bail of R1million (£74,000; $110,000). A court in March eased his travel restrictions, allowing him to leave South Africa to compete as long as he complied with certain conditions

Trial of Oscar Pistorious begins tomorrow
Trial starts tomorrow. Interesting video on link below.
Forensic evidence will play a major part in the murder trial of paralympian Oscar Pistorius which begins tomorrow and will be broadcast live around the world.
The double-amputee athlete has always insisted he and model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp had had a quiet night in together at his house, a closely guarded compound in Pretoria.
He claims he got up in the early hours to bring in a fan from the balcony. But when he went back into the bedroom again, in the pitch dark, he says he heard a noise.
Believed there was an intruder in the house, he says he grabbed a 9mm pistol that he kept under his bed that he kept for security purposes and ran down the passageway leading to the bathroom, without his prosthetic legs on.
Exclusive: the room where Reeva Steenkamp was fatally shot
The bloody bathroom where Pistorius shot Ms Steenkamp
There he fired four shots into the toilet door, which was closed. He insists it was only when he went back into the bedroom and realised his girlfriend was not in bed that it dawned on him it was her in the toilet.
Pictures inside the house show a trail of blood from the bathroom as the paralympian carried Ms Steenkamp downstairs after shouting for help, with flecks of blood on the wall, on the sofa downstairs and on the landing.
The case is likely to hinge on forensic evidence, with specialists for both the defence and prosecution trying to glean everything they can from the site of the shooting.
Forensic evidence will play a crucial part in the Pistorius trial
Ballistics expert JC de Klerk speaks to Sky's Alex Crawford
Ballistics expert JC de Klerk has told Sky News how every shot fired will have left a trail.
"The trajectory of bullets through the door will give an indication of where the firearm must have been held," he said.
Forensic experts say every drop of blood can help show what happened, and whether Ms Steenkamp was sitting, standing or moving at the time she was shot.
Pistorius insists he was "deeply in love" with Ms Steenkamp, who he had been dating for just a few months.

Pistorius says he loved Ms Steenkamp
When the world's best-known paralympian appeared at Pretoria Magistrates' Court during a bail application hearing, he said when he realised his mistake he did everything to save his lover, battering the toilet door with a cricket bat to get to her.
During the trial, science and forensics will help build a picture of what happened, and it will be down to a judge to decide whether the death of Ms Steenkamp was a tragic accident or murder.

Firing a warning shot to a suspected intruder who can't be seen let's them know you have a gun. Firing four shots through a closed door into a small toilet is going to be very difficult to explain.candyfloss wrote:Trial starts tomorrow. Interesting video on link below.

Every little thing even thing of no importance can trigger out the violence in a man with that trait.
For someone to fire 4 shots into a small enclosed space he meant to kill no matter who he thought was in the cubicle.
No excuse for 4 shots whatsoever.

Top forensic pathologist Reggie Perumal is also part of Pistorius’s team of expert witnesses, which also includes firearm experts Tom Wolmarans and Jannie van der Westhuizen of Mayville, Pretoria-based Wesco Forensic Services, and research mineralogist and forensic geologist Roger Dixon, formerly with the police’s forensic science laboratories.
Also in Pistorius’s corner is American company Evidence Room, which provides 3D and forensic animations, illustrations and other exhibits in criminal matters and claims to have extensive training and experience in shooting and crime scene recreations.
Asked about the number of Pistorius’s witnesses, his media manager, Anneliese Burgess, referred queries to attorney Brian Webber, whom she said was preparing for the trial.

Reeva Steenkamp with Oscar Pistorius
Pistorius says he loved Ms Steenkamp
When the world's best-known paralympian appeared at Pretoria Magistrates' Court during a bail application hearing, he said when he realised his mistake he did everything to save his lover, battering the toilet door with a cricket bat to get to her.
During the trial, science and forensics will help build a picture of what happened, and it will be down to a judge to decide whether the death of Ms Steenkamp was a tragic accident or murder.

I doubt (and it's only my opinion) that Reeva didn't scream at the first shot.
On the other side you are taught that when you have to shoot to shoot for complete disablement, iow your adversary should not be able to get back at you. I understand that neighbors heard screams between the shots. Also the guard is said to have called after the shooting and Pistorius allegedly said "everything was fine". So it all looks a bit fishy.
ETA: it is such a sad case: 2 young lives annihilated.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
'Poor' McCanns, parapono? On the contrary, one dead child = 2 extremely rich parents who will no doubt produce more 'expert witnesses' at their trial for murder than those Pistorius has pulled out of the hat for his.
