Father of missing teenager in child sex shame

20 September 2010

THE father of a Hull teenager who vanished without trace six months ago sacrificed his reputation in a desperate bid to find him when he handed police his computer containing hundreds of child porn images.

18-year-old Russell Bohling disappeared in March after his car was mysteriously found near cliffs at a beauty spot, and his father Roger, 57, made several impassioned pleas for information.

The retired civil servant made no attempt to clean up his system's hard drive when he handed it to police. Detectives found no clues as to his youngest son's disappearance but instead discovered the library of indecent photographs.

Bohling will now have to sign the sex offender's register and undergo a treatment programme after his habit was revealed at Hull Crown Court today.

Bohling, from West Ella near Hull, claimed his son, who had just turned 18 and stood to inherit a £300,000 semi-detached home, may have been murdered in a failed abduction attempt after telling someone of his imminent windfall.

The court heard that Bohling, wife Christine, 51, and their two elder sons had been through a "living hell" since Russell disappeared. The bricklaying student had special needs due to a speech disorder but dreamed of running his own company and was interested in politics.

Judge Alastair McDonald QC told him: "It is very sad to see someone who has clearly given a lot to society in court for offences of this sort. You will lose your good character and this will stay with you for life.

"In very unusual circumstances you volunteered your computer equipment to assist police in their inquiries to find your youngest son Russell. You knew they would discover these illegal pornographic images, mainly of children."

Prosecuting, Jharna Jobes said Bohling had offered his home computer to Humberside Police in the hope it would show who Russell had been talking to before his disappearance and help find him.

Officers soon found 415 images of children in erotic poses plus three photographs of extreme pornography featuring adults engaging in bestiality.

He had obtained all the images from a relative's computer, which he then downloaded on to a memory stick before transferring them to his computer and also burning them on to discs. The relative has been cautioned by police but did not face court.

Mitigating, Charlotte Davies said: "The defendant, along with the rest of his family, is suffering a great loss at this time. Young Russell went missing in March but there is not a shred of evidence as to what has happened to him.

"The family are in a living hell. Every time remains are found they are notified by police and have to endure a further hell until they are told they are not Russell's.

"He says the disappearance of his youngest child is at the forefront of his mind rather than these court proceedings, but he is remorseful for these offences."

She added that Bohling, who walked with the aid of a stick into court, suffers from a degenerative brain condition which seriously affects his mobility, concentration and short-term memory.

Judge McDonald handed him a community order with supervision for two years. He will have to complete a sex offenders treatment programme, comply with a sexual offences prevention order and sign the sex offenders register for five years. He will also pay £425 costs.

Bohling admitted four charges of making indecent images, four charges of possessing indecent images and three of possessing extreme pornography at an earlier hearing. The child porn images were ranked at Level One - the lowest level of seriousness.

Russell left the family home at 8am on March 2 to attend nearby Bishop Burton College with just 10 pounds in his wallet, but never arrived. His Renault Clio was found some 50 miles away at Bempton Cliffs. His bank account has remained untouched and his mobile phone was dead.

Speaking in March, Roger revealed that he had bought Russell and brothers Nigel, 23, and Andrew, 22, a three-bedroom semi-detached home each in nearby North Ferriby which they would receive when Russell turned 18.

Clutching a school photograph of his son, he said: "We think that day he has gone to meet somebody he knows and that someone has betrayed his trust. It may have been an abduction attempt to get a ransom that has gone wrong.

"If he'd jumped off that cliff the police would have found his body. I can't believe he would either leave home or kill himself."

In June Bohling slammed the police's investigation into the mystery, angry that it had taken them three months to interview staff and students at his college.

I hope that this father understands completely his grave sins that he has imposed upon these innocent children. Although not an abuser himself he creates the vulgar demand with which the devil prays upon to corrupt his soul earning him eternal damnation.

John Ch2 v1-7 tells us all "Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist."

The devil seeks to corrupt man who is created in God's image, sexual perversion as well as ignorance to Jesus is the work of the deceiver. The teachings make it clear that such men have no place in God's kingdom.

Sadly not it seems

THE father of missing student Russell Bohling has blamed medication for Parkinson's Disease for behaviour that led him to possess indecent images of children.

Excuses, excuses, excuses! Some people just cannot accept responsibility for their own actions can they? never mind

All will be judged for their deeds and all will answer to God. He must beg for forgiveness or be cast out of the kingdom of Heaven.

IMO anyone who views images such as these, or copies them in order to re-distribute them is a child-abuser.

The man is himself an abuser, Priest. Possessing even one image is an abuse of children everywhere.

'Bohling admitted four charges of making indecent images, four charges of possessing indecent images and three of possessing extreme pornography at an earlier hearing.'

How do you think 'indecent' images are made?

Do not even think about answering this question.

One foresees a warning of a sex and travel option heading your way imminently.

Father of missing Hull teenager in child sex shame Empty Bad...worse...unspeakable...

Post by Tony Bennett 21.09.10 17:45

This thread is a sad reminder of how child pornography on the internet has become an almost out-of-control epidemic.

And the addiction to this sordid world often begins with a simple click on a mouse.

Then things go from bad, to worse, to unspeakable...

The advent of internet it not a marvel, in fact it's a curse.

These days tele-comunication suppliers even bundled internet access on mobile phone at a nominal adjustment to subscription price.

I find the mobile phone totally invasive. Equipped with camera and internet, people can use it for up to no good, and its so damn small and easy to conceal, no body really think anything about it.
People can now use the mobile phone to watch movie and watch porno on internet if they so wished.....it's so scary.

I guess 'Priest' doesn't quite understand nor appreciate the reasons for Sexual Offences Prevention Orders. Whilst the defendant in this case may not be an actual child abuser the nature of his offences deem him to pose a potential risk to children hence why the court has imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order in this case.

Bohling has been ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for five years and pay £425 costs.

He has been given a sexual offences prevention order for five years to enable the police to check his computer and is banned from having unsupervised contact with children.

Then perhaps you could explain why the Pope who covered up for paedophile priests and the others like Cormac Murphy etc. have not been cast out of the Church to safeguard children from further harm. thinking

The Catholic church have always believed that they can treat their own, especially those that have perverse and criminal sexual leanings. To be appointed in the church is to attain a certain amount of instant respect, this respect has been constantly abused. It's not just the Catholic church but others as well that have been plagued with this sort of abuse. Splinter factions of Christianity, or cults as they are more widely referred to seem to have at least some sort of odd translation of the good book with which to justify macarbre practices.

“The public may have some consolation that when you are released you will be monitored by North Wales''

Speaking from one's personal point of view, one is not at all consoled that the police will be monitoring this person and one does not know any other member of the public who would find this a consolation either.

We cannot continue taking a gamble on the Gamble approach to dealing with paedophiles in the community. It does not help the perpetrator of these heinous crimes, and it is a constant threat to the public.

Having seen Leicester police's handling of the grotesque, yet simple incident of the Gaspar statements, one is not at all convinced that any police force in the UK has the resources to 'monitor' paedophiles who have been convicted. The police never get to the bottom of their in-trays, so how are they expected to also continue the 'monitoring' of those who have already been through the court system?

It is an impossibility, and therefore instead of choking the court system with paedophiles, a decision should be taken to lock them away from the community, and never again be allowed to live in it or work in it. No matter whether they are 'just looking' at abusive photographs and films or whether they commit the atrocities themselves.

Paedophiles cannot help feeling the way they do or committing the acts they do. We can sit around telling them that what they do is wrong and most of them will agree that they are in the wrong. But it will not prevent them from doing what they do.

Many married men know that it is wrong to take a mistress, yet they still do it, and then appear sorrowful before their wives. They will say that they knew it was wrong, and they will never do it again. Yet the majority go on to do exactly the same thing again, but are very much more clever in the way they go about it the next time, so that they do not get caught.

The long term married woman may thinks she knows her husband inside out, and can forgive and believe her husband, yet she knows he could still slip under her radar and go on to do exactly the same thing again. Unless a police officer lives with the paedophile that need to be 'monitored', what hope does the police service have of keeping tabs on every waking thought of that paedophile? Although many paedophiles plot and plan their targets with precision, a lot of their acts are committed simply because the opportunity has presented itself.

Good luck to North Wales police.

[quote="littlepixie"]Another one at it "again" - Senior Jehovas Witness.

Bill, of St Asaph, was jailed for two-and-a-half years yesterday after he also admitted breaching his Sex Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) by viewing internet images of children while on bail.

Perhaps one can now see the importance of Sexual Offences Prevention Orders and why the defendant in the OP, Roger Bohling, is also subject to a SOPO.

How scarey is that sentence - Course he accepts he has a problem - yeah right, trying to save his sorry back-side nothing else!

North Wales Police definitely DO NOT monitor people on the sexual offenders list. shame on you
