Someone is protecting Madeleine McCann ’s kidnappers, says a detective who hunted for her for three years.
As Kate McCann faced her 10th Mother’s Day without Maddie, retired Det Insp Dave Edgar broke his silence for the first time to open his files.
Revealing findings, that a child-sex gang most likely took the three-year-old, he said: “Someone knows what happened and it’s time they came forward.”
Mr Edgar believes an abductor has secretly confessed to the crime and, speaking for the first time since his three-year private investigation into the 2007 disappearance, he said one of those involved will have opened-up to a friend or relative.
Calling for an end to the agony of Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry, he pleaded: “If anyone confided in you, now is the time to come forward.”
One of the top experts on the case, he also believes:

  • There is no evidence to suggest Kate and Gerry were involved.
  • It was a well planned abduction.
  • There was no evidence against two prime suspects of abducting her from Praia Da Luz in May.
  • The motive for taking three-year-old Madeleine was sexual.
  • There is still hope she is alive.

When the Metropolitan Police took over the search in 2011, Mr Edgar handed his files to the force.
But he has kept in contact with the probe and believes a new appeal could finally solve it.
He said: “Someone knows, it must be on someone’s conscience, please come forward.”
After Madeleine vanished from the McCanns’ Warner Ocean Club holiday flat, while her parents were dining with friends, Portuguese police named Kate and Gerry as “arguidos” or suspects.
But Mr Edgar dismisses that, flying in the face of last week’s Lisbon court decision to uphold the right of Portuguese detective Goncalo Amaral to publish his book alleging Madeleine had died and the McCanns covered it up.
“I was looking at everything and that would include them,” he said.
“If I found any evidence against Kate and Gerry I would have given it to the police immediately. Kate and Gerry would expect no less. But I found no shred of evidence.
“We obviously look at all factors – motive, preparation, opportunity – and there was absolutely nothing.”

During his probe, paid for by the Find Madeleine Fund, Mr Edgar’s small team of investigators examined a number of potential suspects, including two of the most high profile names on the list, Raymond Hewlett and Euclides Monteiro.
Convicted UK paedophile Hewlett was living near the resort in 2007. He died, aged 64, of cancer in Germany in 2010.
Mr Edgar, 60, said: “He was high on the person of interest list as far as the press were concerned but he was someone who we just wanted to speak to and look at. In terms of fitting the profile, Hewlett would probably come as close as you would get to a main suspect.
But he added: “There was no hard and fast evidence because, if there had been, he would have been arrested.”
Monteiro, 40, a drug addict and ex Ocean Club worker, who died in a tractor accident in 2009, was also ruled out.
“Yes, he was a suspect but on the files that I saw there was no evidence that he was involved to the level that the Portuguese police thought” said Mr Edgar.

“My understanding is that they were convinced he had done it. They decided it was him. On what basis?”
So what did happen to Madeleine? Mr Edgar had a 30-year career with the RUC and Cheshire police and worked on high profile murder cases, including Shafilea Ahmed and Garry Newlove.
He has heard dozens of theories about Madeleine – that she had wandered off, and been run over, become the victim of a random burglar or taken by someone wanting to raise a child for themselves.
He believes it was a planned operation by a lone kidnapper or a gang.
He said: “There was a very narrow window of opportunity for them to get away with Madeleine. So it does point to it being planned and some level of surveillance, perhaps of the apartment.”
He added: “If the motive was gang-related child prostitution, there might have been more than one involved.”
And that’s where a breakthrough may come. He said: “They can’t keep it to themselves and research has shown they always confide in someone else.
“I think that someone else apart from the perpetrator knows and that is one of the best hopes of getting to the truth, that someone comes forward and says what they know.”
He says a cash reward, like those offered in the past, is unlikely to yield results, but an appeal to the heart might. Instead, he wants a police-backed European campaign.

“I’m talking about TV, posters, letters, text messages, new technology. We’re talking Europe. Get the message out there.”
He fears whoever was responsible will have struck again. He said: “It’s the type of crime they cannot help themselves, certainly if it was sexually motivated.”
Like millions of others, the retired detective clings to the hope that Madeleine is still alive, possibly being held prisoner and potentially still in Portugal.
There have been a number of cases where victims have emerged after being held in captivity for years.
“Until such time that a body is found it is a live investigation and there is always hope,” he said.

This from the mouth of a TM paid for lackey, who was forced to admit in a Lisbon court that he ONLY investigated that which the McCanns told him to.

This is the man who said it didn't matter, or words to that effect, on film, that Gerry and Jane Tanner couldn't agree on which side of the road they were stood on that 'fateful' night.

Mark Williams-Thomas will be pleased that his theory is out of the window as will SY, maybe.

I'm with Dr. Amaral, all the way.

This article, in my opinion, is merely PRopaganda, sickening.

Woof, woof Dave, remember?

David Edgar is dishing up the same tosh as he did in 2009

This is what he said in 2009:

Dave Edgar broke his silence for the first time to open his files.

“The Ulster detective leading the search for Madeleine McCann today reveals his most chilling theories yet, exclusively to Sunday Life. Hardened ex-RUC cop Dave Edgar told us he is convinced that little Maddie is imprisoned in a hellish lair – just like kidnapped sex slave Jaycee Lee Dugard….

….the east Belfast man insists the golden-haired youngster is being held just 10 miles from where she was snatched in Praia da Luz two years ago.

But he warned that the sprawling wilderness where he believes Maddie is languishing is almost impossible to search completely.

Belfast-born Dave revealed the grim theories when he opened his case files to us”.

What a lot of codswallop! Just a rehash of  2009 article.
Putting aside the dogs, the lies and inconsistencies,  why haven’t  any of the T7 EVER given an interview.

Why hasn't Jane Tanner, for example, sat on Lorraine Kelly’s sofa?
Stop treating us like idiots. The game is UP!

Yes, and despite  "little Maddie is imprisoned in a hellish lair....  just 10 miles from where she was snatched" it didn't stop Edgar from "taking his probe to Australia"

This would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic.

Courtesy of Ben Salmon:

Just saw your quote from Edgar, although I think he's more likely talking nonsense, the exact figure Edgar gives led me to checking out what area that covers (50% of it being literally at sea).

There are two chapels in the Westerly catchment area too (including Hortas do Tabual). The second one is within sight of the wind turbines Pat Brown isolated land around.

These are the chapels.

Re: Former Detective Inspector Dave Edgar says the motive for taking Madeleine was sexual and insists her parents had nothing to do with her disappearance

Post by Tony Bennett on 26.03.17 23:25

In 2009, to suit the yarn that Madeleine was the 'new daughter' of a Victoria Beckham-lookalike young Australian woman, Dave Edgar famously said that the person Jane Tanner said she saw at 9.15pm on Thursday 3 May carrying a young blond child might have been...

...a woman.

For anybody who still believes that Martin Smith and his family really did see someone the same night, that would blow the claim that Smithman = Gerry McCann right out of the water.

In turn, that would mean that DCI Andy Redwood would have to find a Crechewoman, not a Crecheman.

Dave Edgar also allowed the British public to believe the fabricated McCann Team PR that he and Arthur Cowley were running a premier, established detective agency called 'Alpha Investigations Group'.

He was not. He ran the Madeleine McCann investigation from a house in Knutsford, bought for that specific purpose by Brian Kennedy in 2007.  Brian Kennedy and his friends then created a bogus, shell company called ALPHAIG.

Like with so many little and big deceptions in this sorry, 10-year story, the mainstream press swallowed this lie hook, line and sinker.

Only private investigators like Nigel Moore (mccannfiles) and members of CMOMM have uncovered the truth.

Re: Former Detective Inspector Dave Edgar says the motive for taking Madeleine was sexual and insists her parents had nothing to do with her disappearance

Post by sallypelt on 26.03.17 23:28

16 August 2009

Private detectives leading the hunt for Madeleine McCann faced questions last night after a Mail on Sunday investigation revealed apparent shortcomings in chasing a ‘strong lead’.

The detectives failed to make even rudimentary inquiries before announcing a ‘significant’ development in the worldwide search for the six-year-old.

At a Press conference in London, lead investigator David Edgar appealed for help in finding a ‘bit of a Victoria Beckham lookalike’ whom a British tourist saw looking agitated outside a dockside restaurant in Barcelona three days after Madeleine disappeared….

The Mail on Sunday, however, has established that members of Mr Edgar’s team who had visited Barcelona:

  • Failed to speak to anyone working at the seafood restaurant near where the agitated woman was seen at 2am.

  • Failed to ask the port authority about movement of boats around the time Madeleine disappeared.

  • Failed to ask if the mystery woman had been filmed on CCTV.

  • Knew nothing about the arrival of an Australian luxury yacht just after Madeleine vanished until told by British journalists, who gave them the captain’s mobile phone number.

  • Failed to interview anyone at a nearby dockside bar where, according to Mr Edgar, the mystery woman was later seen drinking.

  • Failed to ask British diplomats in Spain for advice before or during the visit.

Also, Spanish police could not confirm that they had been contacted by the British investigators.
Last night Mr Edgar said: ‘We are not above criticism and I take responsibility for any shortcomings. If somebody has not done what they should have done, that’s my job to deal with that.’ …

The “efficient, professional detective”

Leading the Hunt for Maddie: Dave Edgar, the Cheshire Detective Prison lairs, Victoria Beckham-lookalikes, letters from dead paedophiles - and bogus claims that he heads up the so-called ‘Alpha Investigations Group’

The Madeleine Foundation’s John Whitehouse looks at the bogus group set up by the McCanns and Brian Kennedy which, with the help of British media, misled the public into thinking that former Detective Inspector Dave Edgar headed up a thriving private investigations agency. The article goes on to analyse the thoughts and actions of Dave Edgar, Brian Kennedy’s chosen instrument to lead the McCanns’ private investigation, and Edgar’s assistant, Arthur Cowley, as they head the hunt for Madeleine McCann from a house in Knutsford

sequel to our article: ‘The McCanns’ private investigators - we investigate’ (Article No. 26.0)

Author:  John Whitehouse

Published by The Madeleine Foundation, 5 May 2011

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF THE ARTICLE

After the successive debacles of the McCanns and Brian Kennedy appointing first the controversial Spanish detective agency Metodo 3 and then fraudster Kevin Halligen, supposedly to search for Madeleine, they then appointed local retired detective inspector Dave Edgar to ‘lead the hunt for Madeleine’ in November 2008.

Edgar was then based in the H.Q. of the private investigation office run by Brian Kennedy, a house in Knutsford bought by Kennedy for that purpose in the summer of 2007. Edgar did not at that time, nor has he since, either owned, part-owned or ‘run’ a company known as ‘Alpha Investigations Group’. His claim to do so is a sham.

In fact, one of Brian Kennedy’s right-hand men, Andrew Dickman, registered the domain name www.alphaig.co.uk on 12 January 2009, some four months before the McCann Team misled the media and the public into thinking that Dave Edgar ran a prestigious-sounding company called ‘Alpha Investigations Group’.

Despite much publicity and hype about Edgar’s ‘Alpha Investigations Group’ in May 2009, in fact the company being referred to was actually called ‘ALPHAIG’. It was not registered until after May - on  10 June 2009. Despite claims that Edgar, or Edgar and a colleague, Arthur Cowley, run ALPHAIG, it is a company wholly owned by Arthur Cowley. The registered address of the company, ‘Treetops’, in the remote Flintshire hamlet of Pant-y-Gof, is a property situated  down a remote farm track and cul-de-sac, which may be unoccupied. ALPHAIG has no web presence, and does not give out any contact details. Its summary accounts, released in January this year, revealed inter alia that it had fixed assets worth just £630, hardly the kind of assets associated with a significant private investigations company.

Edgar’s main role over the past two years appears to have been to talk up as ‘strong leads’ claims - which are frankly bogus - that Madeleine may have been taken by a Victoria Beckham-lookalike on a yacht to Australia, may be held in a prison lair near Praia da Luz, may have been seen in Dubai, may have been taken to the U.S. as claimed by an Angolan basketball-playing bouncer, or may have been taken by an unnamed gypsy gang leader, details of whom were given by a dying paedophile in a German hospital to his long-estranged son, who in turn claims to have burnt that letter before proceeding to tell the Sun all about it.

The public have been told that they should buy Dr Kate McCann’s new book, due out on 12 May, in order to ‘continue the search for Madeleine’. Dr McCann has said that the book could ‘raise £1 million’, which she and the McCann Team say would pay for Dave Edgar and his ‘team of detectives’ to continue looking for Madeleine for a further two years.

On the evidence of this article, they would be wasting their money

Only two things I can think of in response to this nonsense..

1)  There is no such thing as the perfect crime.  From the off, the McCanns and their support network referenced paedophilia in relation to Madeleine's disappearance - if the subject is discussed they only have themselves to blame for introducing the hypothesis in the first instance.

History bears witness to the possibility of a body or the remains of a body, no matter what their fate, being discovered by forensic evidence - there can be no guarantee that a body or the remains of a body will never be located, frequently by chance.  This begs the question - was/is this repeated reference to stranger abduction and paedophilia a safe guard, should evidence of remains ever be uncovered?

2)

Today's offering from the Daily Mail. Reading the comments, I cannot understand why the McCanns continue with this sort of publicity. Surely they must realise rehashing this nonsense is damaging to the image they have spent 10 years nurturing.

Retired DCI Gonçalo Amaral: "The English can always present the conclusions to which they themselves arrived in 2007. Because they know, they have the evidence of what happened - they don't need to investigate anything. All this is now a mere 'show off'."

Retired murder DCI Colin Sutton: "I would also like to make the point that Operation Grange was so restricted from the start as to be destined to fail."

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley made public on national TV that Operation Grange is a complete fraud.

Ex-DCI Andy Redwood had a "revelation moment" on BBC's Crimewatch on 14th October 2013 when he announced that Operation Grange had eliminated the Tanner sighting - which opened up the 'window of opportunity', in accordance with their remit, to allow the fake abduction to happen.

Despite "irrelevant behaviour" from blood and cadaver dogs in the McCann's apartment, on Kate McCann's clothes, and in the car they hired three weeks after Maddie disappeared, Ex-Chief Inspector, Ian Horrocks, said: "The thought that Kate and Gerry McCann had anything to do with the death of their daughter is frankly preposterous."

Gerry McCann called for example to be made of 'trolls'. SKY News reporter Martin Brunt doorstepped Brenda Leyland on 2 October 2014. She was then found dead in a Leicester hotel room. Brenda paid the price. She paid with her life.

Ex-Deputy Chief Constable, Jim Gamble QPM, congratulated SKY reporter, Martin Brunt, on twitter for doorstepping Brenda Leyland on behalf of Gerry McCann.
