It just goes to show that if a dog is found to be "unreliable" in any way, shape, or form, that they are taken out of the training program....and are not head-hunted by the FBI to go work for them.
What do you say about that Professor McCann?

Perhaps Kate should have had a Cuddle Dog instead of a Cuddlecat . It would have helped when she was suffering from a deep depression
( cough cough !)
Dogs however are very good judges of character , didn't she ( allegedly ) get bitten by one on her run with Matt ?
I doubt the twins would be allowed a puppy as a pet , and one Cat in the house would certainly be enough

A VC’s best friend
James Reynolds, with his faithful dog Dick, attends to James Walton at the Battle of Rorke's Drift, in a painting by Alphonse de Neuville
SIR – After the battle of Rorke’s Drift (Letters, December 19), apart from the 11 VCs for valour, the Dickens Medal was awarded to Dick, the fox terrier of Surgeon Reynolds VC (above, from Alphonse de Neuville’s painting, attending to the wounded soldier James Dalton VC). Dick’s citation spoke of his “never wavering as shots and spears fell around, only leaving Reynolds’s side once, to bite a Zulu who came too close”.

Anyone watching "The Investigation" series on BBC?
It's the true life story (docu-drama) of the submarine guy who killed the journalist and "buried her at sea" in 2017.
Anyway.... thank goodness for Cadaver Dogs!
Able to detect dead bodies under 30 meters of water.
Truly amazing.
(PS. The BBC are transmitting the program but it was made by a Scandinavian film crew and is in Danish - it is slow paced but excellent)

Major and Champ: Joe Biden's dogs moved out of White House
Published

German shepherds Major (top) and Champ were the first pets to live in the White House in four years
Joe and Jill Biden's German shepherds have been removed from the White House after the younger dog, Major, reportedly bit a security agent.
According to US media, the pets have been sent back to the Biden family home in Wilmington, Delaware.
It follows Major's aggressive behaviour towards White House staff.
The Bidens adopted three-year-old Major in 2018. He became the first dog from an animal shelter to live in the White House.
Their other dog, Champ, is 13.
Anonymous sources told CNN that Major had been jumping, barking and charging at White House staff and security.
Both dogs moved into the White House four days into Joe Biden's presidency.

Police dog hailed a hero after handler makes multiple arrests in a single shift
A heroic police dog has been rewarded with a plate full of treats after helping arrest four suspects from three different incidents in less than four hours.
Mar 30, 2021
PC Fegan and PD Max
Northumbria Police dog Max had a busy night shift with handler Police Constable Adam Fegan after responding to two burglaries and preventing a dangerous driver from abandoning their vehicle.
The first call to action came at 1am on Monday (March 29) when the pair were deployed to a suspected burglary at the Cycle Garden Café in Nuns Moor Park in Newcastle. An alarm at the property had been activated so Max was deployed in the area and quickly tracked down a suspect hiding behind a nearby tree.
He was arrested by PC Fegan and taken into custody, but just before 2.55am the pair were called into action once again.
They were deployed to search for intruders who had allegedly broken into the General Hospital site on Westgate Road in the west end of Newcastle. Max and PC Fegan were on the scene within minutes and searched the grounds of the hospital before locating two men hiding in a bush. A haul of stolen copper was recovered nearby.
Two hours later the pair were deployed to Blakelaw where motor patrols officers had been in pursuit of a vehicle that had failed to stop. The occupants had abandoned the car in the area and so PC Fegan and his dog were immediately dispatched to track them down.
Within minutes a man believed to have been a passenger in the vehicle was tracked down by Max and arrested on suspicion of robbery.
PC Fegan, of Northumbria Police’s Dog Section said Max is due to retire later this year but still shows no signs of slowing down.
He said: “Max absolutely loves his job and it is an absolute pleasure to spend a cold night on shift trying to catch up with him as he tracks down suspected criminals. He is due to retire later this year but has shown no signs that he wants to slow down and the fact he had four arrests in just one night is very impressive.
“Max definitely earned his treats and we are just glad that we have been able to support our response officers, bring suspects into custody and secure a haul of stolen property. I have no doubt that when he returns to duty this evening he will be determined to continue that good work and help keep our communities safe.”

It appears they've found some areas beneath the cafe floor. They drilled some holes and a cadaver dog has "indicated". They put an endoscopic camera into one of the areas and there appears to be something blue down there. The missing girl in question was wearing a blue coat with a blue bag when she went missing.
How many are there ?!
Very sad, what a sick pair he & his wife were.

Meet the dogs that can sniff out Covid-19
(24 May 2021)Asher may just look like a cute cuddly dog but he is much more than that.
He, along with some of his canine friends, have been trained to sniff out Covid-19 in people and the initial results show they can do it very reliably.
This is because a research team, involving Durham, has found that Covid-19 has a very distinct odour – which we as humans can’t smell – but the dogs’ super sniffing powers can detect it with up to 94 per cent accuracy.
Powerful noses
The study, which is not yet peer-reviewed, is the most extensive of its kind to date using over 3,500 odour samples donated by the public and NHS staff. It involved training dogs to distinguish between infected and uninfected people alongside odour analysis and modelling.
The dogs were able to detect odour from individuals with Covid-19 regardless of whether they had symptoms or not, as well as those with two different strains, and with both high and low viral loads.
Although the dogs were trained in a trial setting and more work is needed to transfer the method to real-world locations, the preliminary results show that specially trained dogs can rapidly, non-invasively sniff out Covid-19.
The study is a collaboration between the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Medical Detection Dogs and Durham University.
Rapid screening
In addition to the dogs training, the team also carried out mathematical modelling to assess the effectiveness of using dogs as a Covid screening method. This modelling shows the potential for dogs to be used at ports of entry such as airports, estimating that two dogs could screen 300 plane passengers in around 30 minutes as part of a ‘Rapid Screen and Test’ strategy.
Use of the bio detection dogs plus a confirmatory PCR test are estimated to detect more than twice as many cases and prevent more onward transmission than isolating symptomatic individuals only.
Super sniffers
The dogs were trained to identify Covid-19 using body odour samples from masks, socks and t-shirts, with 3,758 samples sent in.
The study also included a crucial so-called double-blind trial where the dog, technician and dog trainer were not aware which samples were positive or negative, removing any risk of inadvertent bias or cues.
The team now hopes to move on to the next phase of the trial which will involve the dogs detecting Covid-19 directly on people in real-world settings such as airports.

'When Digby arrived, the young woman immediately swung her head round to look and smiled.
'This got a conversation started about Digby and his role at the fire service.
'She was asked if she would like to come and meet Digby if she came back over the railings, which we are pleased to say she did.'
Digby's actions won praise from social media users.

One said: 'Dogs are amazing, they can sometimes do what humans just aren't able to. Well done to all concerned.'
Another wrote: 'Well done Digby.
'Cockapoos can be very intuitive and gave the face and eyes that, in my opinion, show that they want to be friends to help to listen and to play.'
