"It's hard to ignore that 'here we are again' feeling at this time of year, still with no idea where our daughter is or of what's happened. What we can say is that our resolve to find out, as well as the hope which has always been present, has not lessened. In addition it's very apparent that the determination of the Metropolitan Police remains steadfast, in spite of the persistent challenges they face."

Determination of the Met ?
Digging up the village, not just once, but on multiple occasions with cadaver dogs, and Ground penetrating radar / Sounds a fairly determined effort to find humans remains to me.
Persistent challenges they face ?
Our steadfast refusal to tell them where we put the body ?

"still with no idea where our daughter is or of what's happened"

Aren't they the ones who told the world "what's happened" is that a person or persons unknown broke into their holiday apartment and took their 3 year old daughter from her bed?

The biggest challenge the Met face is substantiating a case for murder without a body, but I am confident that charges will be brought after the slow process of eliminating all of the red herrings which certain parties have either created or seized upon to conceal their culpability has been completed.

Exactly.
Deceptive people especially guilty deceptive people can't keep their stories straight and leak like crazy Mr

There's no obligation for them to say anything, let alone keep their stories straight. In the immortal words of Clarence Mitchell, '' It is for the police to prove their guilt, not for Kate and Gerry to prove their innocence.''

Come on! Can you really imagine the McCanns in a situation where they say nothing? One of them will drop themselves in it - and I strongly feel it will be in 2015! spin Mind you, I said something similar last year. duh

But Kate has, several times. As has Gerry.
I was there and I know what happened
The curtains were wide open, the curtains were tight closed

There are many examples of the entire group 'dropping themselves in it."
The problem seems to be that Dr Amaral resigned, and that Grange seem to be doing something else entirely.

Eh Kate, If you know what happened, tell the police. Don't refuse to answer their questions. They were searching for the daughter you lost. Tell them what happened.

It's not their place to speak on behalf of the MET Police.
But they seem determined to do that, to give the impression the Police are working for them not against them. They want people to believe Met Police keep them in the loops, that they were told all about the challenges (not difficulties but challenges) the Police face.
No doubt they remain persistently determined to keep up the challenge to the Police by waiting patiently for the Police to find the body. They seem in no hurry for the Police to find the body.....the longer the Police drags on the better ......
Not one moaning word or question from them as to why the Police are taking so long with no apparent result in sight despite all these interviews and reinterviews...and no indication of a definitive lead to an abductor.
They seem content to wait and at the same time to be praising and thanking MET Police to the hilt....it's all a waiting and simulaneously a PR game to them.

I agree, it is just a big PR driven campaign/game to them. And with that being the case IMO, they know exactly what happened to their daughter, because they have never shown any desperation to find her. All in my opinion.
I also think they are confident in knowing Maddie will never be found.

Which they most certainly wouldn't be if others had knowledge of where her body was disposed of, particularly any of the group who formed part of their joint vacation, perhaps more affectionately known as the 'Tapas 7.'

Well that may or may not be. It depends IMO, on the level of participation in what happened. As i also think the Tapas 7 know if they were to tell all and admit their complicity in a cover up in such a very serious matter they will do jail time, even if that might bring a plea deal for a reduced sentence. I really don't think they would be willing to go there for obvious reasons.

Haigh, the acid bath murder also believed that without a body he could not be convicted.
In the event Spilsbury found a gall stone, which was resistant to the sulphuric acid, and Haigh was hanged.
And as we know, there are people serving long sentences where the only evidence of the death is the alert of a dog.

I know the McCanms and their acolytes deny this, or do not want to hear it, but it remains true.

Have not heard of that case, but just goes to show, the best laid plans do often times go astray. I once heard on a crime show on the t.v. there is no such thing as a perfect crime. Perhaps criminals these days think they are getting cleverer though, especially in other missing child cases from some i have followed from the U.S. The baby Lisa Irwin case, Kyron Horman case, Haleigh Cummings case, baby Ayla Reynolds case, etc. No bodies have been recovered to date.
