'Does it have a sea view?'
'No.'
'Does it have a view of the nearest swimming pool?'
'No, I'm sorry.'
'What about a view of the nearest restaurant?'
Estate agent fumbles with his tie and blushes slightly. 'Er, umm ... sort of, sir. Erm, I suppose if you used your imagination ... I mean, REALLY used your imagination, you could say it would be just like dining out in your own back garden.'
'What? Do you mean if I lived in Downton Abbey kind of thing?'
'Ha-ha ... oh, umm. I take it you're not interested then?'
'Nah. I'll leave it. I can't even play tennis for months ... done my Achilles tendon in good style the other day.'
Estate agent cheers up. 'Really. There was a man here back in 07 did the same thing. His healed in half-an-hour, amazing it was ....'

Curtain which go "Whooooooooooo " when there is no wind outside might lead one to suspect so.
Children who sleep soundly through the most immense commotion police searches, parents wailing and screaming, people pulling shutters and windows,
- might also lead one to suspect so

Yep, that's spooky.PeterMac wrote:Curtain which go "Whooooooooooo " when there is no wind outside might lead one to suspect so.

An apartment where there's no light for kids left sleeping, parents tippy-toed in to listen if they were awake, other members unknown to Madeleine went around the apartment to listen at windows and walls, one of them went in through patio doors left open.
Father has a wee and flushes the loo (have you heard the sound of a toilet flushing in a tiled floor apartment? even the sound of a tinkle is thunderous) and doesn't like to use the front door due to the sound disturbing the children.Father manages to open children's bedroom door, and with light left on in lounge has a proud father moment.
Mother went into apartment at 10 o'clock and was 'just listening' and might not have ventured further but she noticed the 'bedroom door was not how we usually left it' and then didn't want to switch on the light in case she woke the children. She could barely make out Madeleine and thought she'd just take a look....then there was the door closing 'to just about here' and then the curtains whooshed.
Mother did a reccie around apartment within seconds and just 'knew' Madeleine had been taken, then left remaining two children in apartment with bust open window, whooshing curtains, open doors and ran down to the Tapas Bar. Clarence Mitchell then says no-one had a telephone.
Madeleine's mother didn't think to scream from the balcony that was so close to the Tapas Bar.
Yep, that's one spooky bleeding apartment....if you're Madeleine and her siblings.
One of the rogatory interviews (I think it was Fiona Payne) says when the police arrived they switched on the light in the children's bedroom.
As Lazz says....it's a crock.

Just a few steps away from a supermarket which stocks a selection of New Zealand wines.
And cleaning products.

Does it come with use of a hire car - preferably a Renault Scenic? Oh, and the keys to any old little Church that I might or might not pass? Only asking

I hear it's very private, no clear view through PVC Tapas enclosure or bourganvillia, and has the magical ability to turn a 250m distance into 50m. The only thing your neighbours can hear is a can of baked beans falling off the shelf

Re: Apartment for Sale
Well, having considered this apartment, I phoned the estate agent in Praia da Luz this morning to put an offer in.
A Mr Moorhat answered the phone and I told him my offer was one hundred and fifty.
'Oh,' he said. 'The owners were hoping for something closer to one hundred and seventy, but I'll put your offer of one hundred and fifty thousand euros to them.'
I managed to stop laughing after six seconds then said, 'I could have been the victim of the biggest f**k-up in history then. My offer is one hundred and fifty QUID!'
It's funny, isn't it. When the line goes dead, you can't really tell whether they have calmly replaced the receiver, or slammed it down with the force of a bedroom door blown shut by a sudden gust of wind when a window has been left open.
My money is on the slam.

I just dug around.
They don't know who they belonged to. They were "inadequate".

VESTIGES COLLECTED 5….. Fingerprints….Inside interior window of the children’s bedroom…..DBT…..Suf 1. Methodology and means of operation: 2. Established number of supposed authors: 3. Abandoned objects: 4. Objects or values that were the target of the crime: 5. Importance of the damage incurred: |
Observations: The fingerprint traces collected are identified as being the middle finger of the left hand (3x) and forefinger of the left hand (2x), of the missing girl’s mother, The fingerprint inspection was only carried out on the inside of the window because it was night time, the location was sealed and preserved so that light conditions would permit the inspection of the residence to be finalised. |

How did you open it that far?
Were they broken at the time?
I thought they were locked inside so they couldn't be moved?

Re: Apartment for Sale
Shutters like that do not lock. They are free to be pulled up using the rotating mechanism inside the box at the top, using the strap which is inside the house.
If you push them up, as I did, the mechanism does not rotate, so it all crunches up into the box and gets jammed, as you see.
Once you let go they come crunching back down again. Lots of noise but no result. You can't get in that way - on your own.
As eventually they admitted, without then going on to explain their alternative theory.
As the Bard might have said,
It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

Re: Apartment for Sale
So....
If the shutter was up when Kate went into the room, it was up because the strap had been used from the inside.
So...
When Gerry went out to test the shutter did someone release the strap so he could play with it?
And did someone then use the strap to put the shutter back up before the Police arrived?
(All this time Madeleine might have been just down the road because they had no idea if she was taken just before Kate went in).

Testing the shutters at that point makes no sense when Madeleine could have been taken seconds before Kate went in.
I'd be running around the block immediately.
