Charlotte Pinkney
I was having a nosey on one of the "pro Mccann" facebook pages and came across this statement about Martin Grimes - basically trying to discredit his work with Eddie and Keela. One thing that caught my attention was that in the PJ files in his profile (see: http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/PJ/MARTIN_GRIMES_PERSONAL.htm) it says:
"Page 2268 CHARLOTTE PINKNEY
Charlotte Pinkney was abducted by an ex-boyfriend and has never been seen since.
An initial search by the EVRD revealed a 'classic' secondary deposition site near to a sighting of the suspect in suspicious circumstances.
The investigative team distrusted the dogs opinion until a full forensic search revealed a small button off of the girls clothing in long grass.
This evidence was put to the suspect who fully admitted the offence."
On the facebook site it (quite rightly it would appear) said that the suspect has always protested his innocence (he wrote a letter to a newspaper from inside prison http://www.exeterexpressandecho.co.uk/Convicted-murderer-writes-Journal-prison/story-11813592-detail/story.html).
You can find a link to a summary of the story here:
http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/politics/2012/10/who-killed-charlotte-pinkney
I couldn't find an entirely unbiased view of the story (given my distrust for the media these days) but found the article interesting and puzzling given the PJ files statement. I was just wondering if anyone had any more information about this case and whether the Charlotte Pinkney that is referred to in the files is indeed this case (as I can't find a reference to Nick Rose being Charlotte's ex boyfriend which it also says in the files) or whether there happens to be another Charlotte Pinkney who was abducted and murdered.
It's not that this means that Eddie is wrong by any means - its just strange that this would be in the files when it doesn't seem to match with the info I can find.
Any more info/opinions would be much appreciated!

Re: Charlotte Pinkney
That happened down this part of the world, can't help other than that although this article from the Telegraph seems unbiased.

Just found this,no mention of dogs.
The button which was found in Helena’s hoover bag contents was alleged to have been the button from the trousers Charlotte was wearing that night, the trousers were from Top Shop and the clear button is used in many ladies trousers, so there are millions of these buttons in circulation and there was no DNA on it. There was also another button in the hoover bag contents among other bits & pieces, which they could not connect to Nick or Charlotte.

Re: Charlotte Pinkney
Thanks WMD, it's quite strange isn't it? And the button, or certainly the one mentioned in the news, wasn't found in the grass but in the Hoover. Makes me wonder if the won't name was used on the case study in the PJ files or something? She did have an ex boyfriend who some are saying that he had something to do with it so unless he confessed at some point? But then why isn't he in jail?
The whole case is quite strange from what little evidence is publicly available (compared to McCann and some other cases. On the one hand he was the last person to see her alive (except now others are coming forward saying they saw her alive later - but then why didn't they say that before) his alibi story its very flimsy and there's some forensic evidence. And yet the letter he write to the newspaper doesn't sound like that of a guilty man to me. Plus his expression in his mug sirs looks more like that of a man caught up in a terrible mistake than a murderer found out. Very very strange.

Re: Charlotte Pinkney
From memory it was a surprise to many that he was found guilty, but what is interesting a conviction with no body.I know a couple of guys from around that area will ask what they can recall of the chat at the time.

Re: Charlotte Pinkney
Hi truthfultiger, the talk at the time it seems was of the guy being fitted up,personnel opinion's that is,lots of areas were searched close by for weeks, with no sign of a body.It could be quite easy to dispose of one with fishing boats constantly leaving the harbour. There was talk of an older boyfriend and he may have got jealous with the attention being given to the girl.

Odd statement...
This is a very strange statement to make considering the 'official' verdict etc.
So...
1. The convicted suspect (Nick Rose) is no ex-boyfriend of Charlotte's
2. A button was found in a vacuum cleaner apparently, not a field
3. The suspect (assuming it refers to Nick Rose) has never admitted to the crime.
Now lets consider some other things.
a) The older (and at the time, ex) boyfriend was a well known drug dealer who seemed to get away with selling vast amounts of cocaine, while avoiding prosecution. (Some speculate he had connections to the police)
b) The same man is also said to have fishing boat connections, was found in possession of a book about death with a bookmark about overdoses and is said to have pressurised people into making false statements that incriminate the aforementioned Nick Rose.
I could go on, but there's little need to when the case already stinks to high heaven.
The only question that remains regarding this conflicting statement, from a police officer no doubt, is… was it fabricated in order to give greater credibility to the cadaver dogs? Or has someone let slip some information they weren't supposed to?
It does seem like the former is more likely. Surely if the older boyfriend had admitted the charge, the police wouldn't comply in fitting up an innocent man, no matter how big the bungs they received were. But more corrupt things have happened. And if you're a murderer with connections to cops you've bribed in the past for drug offences, it is fairly conceivable that he may have resorted to blackmail to pull himself out of the hole.
I've queried the source of the information with the writer of the page anyway, hopefully he'll reply.
It's very odd indeed.
