I'm sure they have heard it all before, but has either one of them ever said, on the record, that leaving children home alone - as they tell us they did - is wrong and would others please learn from their mistake and not do it?
They've had so much publicity they must have done this at least once, but I just can't remember ever having seen it.
As for "letting the police do their job", how on earth is speculating on the whereabouts of Kate or Gerry McCann interfering with the work of the police in any way? It's not as though these online speculators are refusing to answer police questions relating to the time Madeleine was last seen alive.

They went against police advice by attending the libel trial, "I'm here for Madeleine" said Kate McCann. Surely this is more important
Kate McCann faces former police chief in £1m libel trial over Madeleine's disappearance The Telegraph

Mrs McCann's attendance in court is understood to be against the advice of Scotland Yard detectives who are attempting to launch their own investigation in the Algarve to try to solve the six-year mystery.
The couple are suing disgraced detective Goncalo Amaral for £1 million over allegations he made about the fate of Madeleine, who disappeared from an apartment in Praia da Luz shortly before her fourth birthday in May, 2007.
It is feared that her presence in Portugal will provoke a media circus and further aggravate Portuguese authorities as the Scotland Yard team seek cooperation to carry out their own inquiries on Portuguese soil.
A source [Clarence Mitchell] said: "Because of the sensitivity of the situation, police don't want the McCanns anywhere near the country because they fear it could turn into a media circus.
"The Met police are worried it will create a bigger platform for Mr Amaral and his supporters to spout more bile and could damage their own inquiries in the country.
"It will be bad enough having all the old allegations dragged up again and repeated. No doubt Mr Amaral will want to say his bit outside the court and it will all flare up again. It will not be helpful for the Yard."

Someone is getting a bit tense.
Badly rattled is how I'd put it.
As for the McCanns being asked not to go to Portugal, that means exactly nothing. No one can tell them what to do, they're not under orders from anyone, unless there's something official that we don't know about. They didn't take advice years ago not to do this or that (their emphasis on Madeleine's eye mark comes to mind), so I'm sure if they wanted to be in Praia da Luz that's where they'd be. It's not like they've been clapped in irons.

In other words, Kate and Gerry have no plans to go anywhere near Portugal and are spinning it into a request by the police that they don't go there.
IMO.

Re: McCanns Told Not To Go To Portugal
The last time I looked at the map, Portugal was a reasonably large Country. They are not required to be photographed sitting on the top of the rock, gazing out to sea in PDL. I see no reason why they could not be in situ somewhere else in the Country, for quick and easy access to PDL, if they are needed.
As for the sanctimonious comment, if I start I wont stop but suffice to say I would rather be surrounded by those sanctimonious persons than well, I wont say what.

They also went against police advice when they published their daughters eye defect - Gerry Mccann acknowledged whoever had Madeleine might harm her because of it but they went ahead anyway because it was a "good marketing ploy"tasprin wrote:They went against police advice by attending the libel trial, "I'm here for Madeleine" said Kate McCann. One sure thing, Kate can never say again that the search for Madeleine has been in any way hampered by GA's book. If every missing child or even missing adult had a quarter of the money and manpower that's been spent on Madeleine spent on their case, they'd be extremely lucky. The continuous self-pitying whine of those two ungrateful narcissists is sickening.
ETA - it's obviously beyond whatever's in Kates head in place of a brain to remember that 'the suffering that's been caused to our family' is predominantly down to their own peculiar ideas of childcare, ie childmind from somewhere where you can't see or hear what's going on in your child's bedroom, but don't let that stop you having fun with your friends.
I'm sure the Portuguese are glad the loving caring parents aren't on Portuguese soil.

Quite.
The couple displayed the same non-chalant attitude back in the summer of 2007 when a Dutch newspaper published a letter by someone claiming that Maddie was buried on some dirt track in PdL. As the PJ searched, the couple were ferrying guests to and from the airport.

Re: McCanns Told Not To Go To Portugal
I think that it's feasible that the McCanns have been asked to remain in the UK, while the search/digs are carried out. PDL would be an absolute circus if the McCanns were there, with the press and rubberneckers following them around. It says to me that no-one really expects the remains to be found at this stage. Really, it makes sense for them to stay here.

Can't believe they have not got any family over there while the digging is going on - they could seek privacy whilst still letting it be known they have come for Madeleine's or even Kate and Gerry's sake ? none of them have to give any interviews ?
From what I have seen and read over the last 7 years, some of the family from either side seem more than able to conduct themselves and contain their inner feelings very well indeed....surely it wouldn't be that they are ALL too upset to go back to Portugal - would it ?
