What can be said other than to the continuing Tractor Man saga.
Nice picture of Simon Cowell and son though.

And Clarrie only works part-time for the McCanns? He must be raking in a small fortune by way of overtime.

Re: More again!! MIRROR 17/2/14 -Maddie cops hunt no1 suspect's gang
Tractorman, Monteiro, is the No. 1 suspect (say the Mirror).
I still say he doesn't look like any of the six e-fits that Andy Redwood showed us on the Crimewatch McCann Show. The most obvious difference is that Monteira is black and the other 6 are white.
Presumably the burglars have now been demoted from the No. 1 spot they've held for the last three weeks.
In fact, it is looking more like the Top Twenty Charts Show all the time.
Who will be No. 1 next week?
Who will be next week's fastest mover?
Raymond Hewlett now seems to be out of the Top Ten.
Smithman lost his No. 1 spot that he held for several weeks after the Crimewatch McCann Show.
A Ukrainian gypsy was briefly No. 1 a couple of weeks ago.
The six men in a white Transit Van may be out of the Top Ten by now.
Tannerman is still in the charts, due to promotion by Madeleine's Mum and Dad.
And so on

Re: More again!! MIRROR 17/2/14 -Maddie cops hunt no1 suspect's gang
We can only hope that this is just more nonsense from TM and the media who are enjoying record sales on the back of it all. Surely the PJ and SY are not pooling their suspects to create the Whitewash Gang, headed up by a dead black guy? SY claiming that they found the gang; the PJ claiming they found the ringleader?
With one now dead, and the others presumably untraceable, that would just be such a lame and pathetic end to this saga. But if the McCanns are in any way guilty, and SY/PJ are not allowed, willing or able to investigate them further - then perhaps that's the only way this thing can end...
Presumably next up will be the involvement of the white-van gypsy crew - all fitting in nicely to AR's 'reading of the evidence' about it all being a dastardly, cunning, meticulously "pre-planned abduction".

No doubt certain persons have been reading this forum when it was asked where is the Sunday papers' Madeleine "new suspect" story, they couldn't come up with a new one so have regurgitated a "dead" one just to be on the safe side (stops them being sued etc).
They should apologise to the forum for being one day late when we were so looking forward to the next load of Sunday bo**ocks, you just can't get the staff these days!

Yes. Dead or faceless, untraceable villains may be the only way for the 2 police forces to exit this mess. My view is that the PJ only joined in once they saw SY getting over-excited. And SY, 2 years on and with zero evidence of any sort, are increasingly desperate - reduced to hoping that random burglars / employees might provide them with some kind of lead. I suspect both forces now realise that their enquiries can lead nowhere, and they need to start planning their exit strategy.
Some of this press coverage is probably designed to test the waters to see what the public in both countries will swallow. It perhaps explains why SY have not come down hard on the media or indeed on the OFM website.

I see pay back time, Bishop. I am confident the McCanns will be brought to account and I suspect there has always been a quiet determination to ensure it will be in more in ways than one.
Given the PJ's bitter experience first time round, it's highly unlikely that the media of both countries are privy to any information which hasn't been deliberately 'leaked' as part of a joint initiative on the part of SY and the PJ with a view to piling on the pressure. In essence, when it comes to the two police forces, the right hand knows what the left hand is doing - which is more than can be said for the McCanns and their tapas pals.
The media hype of assorted suspects and contents of ILORs is exactly that...a pile of carp manufactured by the wee one and his ever-ready 'spokesman' who are desperately trying to gain control of a wagon that the wheels have come off.
In addition, it shouldn't be forgotten that the McCanns retain the services of a criminal solicitor in the UK who prides himself on 'management of the media' and who, no doubt, sourced his opposite number in Portugal who was so anxious to downplay the re-opening of the PJ's investigation that he assured the world his clients would be made 'assistentes'. As if!
'I'm not sure the general public have a clue about this case anymore or even care' notlongnow? Oh dear. That is so not what G&K want to hear after their strenuous efforts to get the public onside again. Does this mean they're no longer the nation's sweethearts?

I think its highly unlikely that SY are leaking anything at all.Looks more like they are TIEing up loose ends and TM are spinning as usual with a little help from their friends. The only direct quote in the story attributed to SY that the investigation is "clearly"gathering pace could well be causing consternation in Rothley Towers.

I hope you are right UltimaThule. I don't think anyone in the SY or PJ seriously believes a 'gang' of disaffected Tractormen, employees, gypsies and burglars are guilty of abduction. There is no motive, precedent or evidence. The only question is what happens after they finally rule them all out. Got to keep optimistic despite the media!

Case continues: Maddie vanished in 2007
The widow of the prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case has told how she was stunned when police arrived to quiz her – four years after his death.
Luisa Rodrigues was grilled by Portuguese officers as [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] pinpointed Euclides Lopes Monteiro at the scene on the night three-year-old Madeleine was snatched.
The 40-year-old ex-jailbird and heroin junkie remains a key part of the inquiry, even though he died in a tractor accident in 2009 – two years after the abduction.
And yesterday it emerged that British cold-case detectives are anxious to trace three of his known associates who are believed to have carried out burglaries in the Praia da Luz area around the time of the youngster’s disappearance on May 3, 2007.
Speaking for the first time about her interrogation, Luisa, 40, admitted she was shocked when police contacted her at her home in Lagos, just a 15-minute drive from Praia da Luz.
She said: “Two officers phoned me out of the blue and said they were in town and wanted to see me.
“They wouldn’t tell me what it was over the phone but when I reached the cafe where we’d arranged to meet, they told me they were investigating Euclides over Madeleine McCann.
“They said they suspected him because he used to work at the Ocean Club complex where the McCanns were staying and because they had tracked the signal from his mobile phone to the area where Madeleine disappeared the night she vanished.
“I was speechless. I kept repeating Euclides was innocent but they said it was not for me to say.”

Quizzed: Monteiro's widow Luisa
She said the officers wanted to know about his criminal past – he served time for burglary – his friends and his drug habit.
She added: “They asked me many questions, including where we had lived as a couple, where Euclides had worked over the years, what he was like as a person and if he had problems with drink and drugs.
"They also asked where he was the night Madeleine disappeared and if I had noticed any changes in him afterwards.
“It’s a long time ago, but I’m sure he would have been at home watching TV. That’s what he always did after work.
“They questioned me for about an hour. The next day I took them the work contracts I found for Euclides at home and details of our joint bank account which they also asked for.
"They never explained why they had come to question me more than six years after Madeleine disappeared.”
SOLARPIX.COM
Junkie: Ex-jailbird Monteiro
Luisa admitted that 6ft 2in Euclides had a problem with heroin and cocaine which he battled on and off his whole life.
She said: “When he was younger he broke into houses and served five years in prison. So I can understand why he’s become a suspect, even if I don’t believe he could have had anything to do with it.”
Luisa, the daughter of a construction firm boss, started dating the father of her 11-year-son when she was 16.
She said she was aware of his problems, but he had turned over a new leaf – and believes the police are simply trying to find a scapegoat.
She insisted: “I know Euclides didn’t take Madeleine. He came out of prison a changed man. He had made an honest life for himself and was a good and caring father and companion.
"If I thought he had anything to do with Madeleine’s disappearance I would have been the first to turn him in.
“I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself for keeping something like that secret. I know he is innocent.”

Missing: Maddie
Monteiro, who moved to Portugal as a child from Cape Verde off West Africa, first emerged as a suspect last year.
He was sacked from the Ocean Club a year before Madeleine vanished after being accused of theft while working at the Millennium restaurant.
But Luisa, who works for a local tourist firm, said: “I know in my heart he is innocent. It’s very easy to blame someone who can’t defend themselves any more.
“My husband was no angel but he would never be capable of committing such a terrible crime.”
British officers have asked their Portuguese counterparts to question three ex-employees of the Ocean Club complex, examine their bank accounts and search their homes.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt, who is leading the Scotland Yard probe, said: “Clearly the tempo of the investigation is accelerating.”

Six foot two, eh?
A bit on the tall side, then. Would have had a good deal of trouble clambering through that little window, methinks.
Oh, sorry, yeah. That's what his three pals must have been there for. To do the window clambering. And also to dance around and distract from their friend's height, if anyone happened to see him on the road. Before, after, or during.
Also he's a person of colour. Doesn't quite fit the description of Tannerman. Oh, sorry, yeah, that must have been one of his pals too. Bundling Madeleine off while Tallman lurked thuggishly behind somewhere, directing the entire operation by phone.

Didn't Luisa Rodrigues threaten to sue someone after her husbands name was mentioned in connected in the abduction of Maddie. Wonder what happened with that,as she looks very happy to pose for that picture in the Daily Mirror.

Re: More again!! MIRROR 17/2/14 -Maddie cops hunt no1 suspect's gang
I know this is a dredged-up story but it's actually not that bad imo. It says the Portuguese police did the interview, the Portuguese police were therefore still on the case 4 years after Madeleine's disappearance (even though the Mc's say no-one was actively searching for Madeleine and the case had been shelved). It doesn't say that phone records were provided by SY, it doesn't say SY asked the Portuguese police to interview anyone.
SY are not in the driving seat of this case. All this stuff about asking the PJ for help is nonsense imo. The PJ have jurisdiction and it is SY who are assisting the PJ isn't it?
If you can get past the spin about 3 letters being sent from SY to Portugal to ask for their help it seems to boil down to the fact that Portugal own the case - always did and continue to do so.
Just my opinion.

There may be a small element of truth in the article in that Portuguese police did interview this man but that would have been in 2007 when all OC staff were interviewed. Have the press got someone searching the PJ files for possible stories?
On what grounds is this man suspected? He was an Ocean Club worker who happened be at the Ocean club at the alleged time of Madeleines disappearance. That's hardly incriminating i

It has to be the weakest motive I have ever heard. Just convenient he is dead for the police I suppose. I doubt TM will except he was the abductor. If they can pin it on him it would mean she is likely to be presumed dead. That puts closure on the case and little opportunity for them to keep the fund going and get the media attention they seem to crave.

Maybe the presenters are all giving it a miss as they feel embarrassed to even repeat the obvious garbage that the Mirror / Pinky is spouting out..

Re: More again!! MIRROR 17/2/14 -Maddie cops hunt no1 suspect's gang
Curious. 'Four years after his death.' Widows are usually pretty specific about the passage of time of a beloved partner. It doesn't take many months before 'four years' becomes 'more than four years' to 'nearly five years.' The interview lacks the fire of indignance and the threat of litigation for defamation. So, either the interview is old (3rd quarter, 2013) and heavily laundered with lots of fabric softener before this airing... Or Widow Monty has changed her tune and getting a payday that she wouldn't get otherwise. But, if she IS financially mercenary, she's not thought it out, because by declaring that this version of her hubby is all there is to know, she misses out on the jackpot of being able to sell her story as the suspicious, mistreated wife who always feared her psycopathic other half...
The photo... Is designed for one purpose only... To show a woman dressed up for a cold winter on a bleak grey wintery hillside, no? Mental connection... February in Portugal?
Either she no longer cares about her husband's memory or she has been briefed and reassured that her husband's name is in the clear, but the police are doing some flushing. 'Co-operating.'
So Monty had accomplices. Rephrase, Monty was a participant in a' gang'. Suggestion? Monty is NOT the no. 1 suspect... But he knew someone who IS a suspect. He pallied up with a potential 'accomplice' of the perpetrators of this charade. Maybe... Maybe... He knew too much. Dead men can be valuable patsies. But they make frustrating accomplices. You can't call a dead man and say 'how the hell did you get tangled in this... What are they asking? What did you say? Am I safe?' He's enough to get his old gang ringing each other again. Maybe enough to get someone from the UK ringing again.
Is he even real? Was he ever on the radar?
Or is he useful because a system like Echelon can very easily track the communicational use of a name like 'Euclides Monteiro' far better than 'Juan Rodrigues' or 'John Smith.' Has SY's role in this switched on the full arsenel of intelligence gathering techniques? Is Monty only in play as an injection of radioactive isotope? Is it a game of 'look who' s talking? s'

Re: More again!! MIRROR 17/2/14 -Maddie cops hunt no1 suspect's gang
The 'Today' programme on BBC Radio 4 has a 'review of today's papers' at around 7.40am every day - and the Mirror headline was reported there. They don't necessarily include every paper's front page headline, so this was obviously part of the editor's selection of what stories to mention - in a slot that usually lasts about 4 minutes. Generally speaking 'Today' usually avoids Madeleine McCann headlines thoughAndrew77R wrote:From seeing the various 'press reviews' of todays papers on several different channels, i have not heard the Mirror front page being spoken about once. Somewhere in a county famous for its red cheese and pork pies (no pun intended), I suspect there is a spouse who long ago resolved not to make that mistake, Al.CynicAl wrote:But, if she IS financially mercenary, she's not thought it out, because by declaring that this version of her hubby is all there is to know, she misses out on the jackpot of being able to sell her story as the suspicious, mistreated wife who always feared her psycopathic other half...

So now thanks to the Mirrors thoughtful juxtapositioning of the pics of little Maddie and Big Black EM, we all can now enjoy subliminal mental images of same little Maddie being ripped apart by Big Bad EM?
No?
Then WHY this particular pictorial juxtaposition, pray?!
I call this despicable and very, very racist
Lets, for a change, have the Mirror report on the 5000 plus calls to the police after the CW showing of the E-fits, and the percentage of callers who -mistakenly, no doubt- named poor totally white Gerry, or any other of the totally white Tapasniks
Okay?

There would surely be a massive, angry backlash to be faced were this to be the endgame. Even if the McCs were cleared of suspicion of Ms disappearance, they would still face criticism for facilitating entry to the perpetrators, by leaving the apartment unlocked at the front and with easy access from the back and without direct line of sight as claimed. Would money have poured into the fund and would the press have fawned so obligingly had these facts been known to the public in 2007?
Even though, as KMcC retorted "you don't expect someone to come in and take your child out your/the bed", one can anticipate entry by unauthorised persons and take steps to secure the premises, which they did during the day. Having demonstrated clear awareness of the need to secure their own valuables and the property of the apartment owner during the day, how will they be able to explain, far less excuse their rash behaviour during the evenings when this information becomes widely known, as it surely will? The story will not end with, "McCs exonerated let's all forget about it now". If there is an officially declared abduction and abductor/s then the press would be free to look into any other angles they choose, and the McCs seem to have made many enemies within the media over the years - and why should the gravy train of fascinating McC stories end when there is so much more to be milked for profit?
And how would that leave them legally, if it were determined that M had disappeared at the hands of other, thanks to their less than adequate parenting and or vigilance? At the shelving of the case it seemed they were let off that particular hook as an abuction at that time was theoretical, but would that change if it were to be taken as fact, and there is clear evidence that entry was facilitated by the child's parents rather than a standard break in? Is it not the case that if it is proven that their actions lead to the child coming to harm then there could be legal consequences? Interesting to know what others think.
