Re: Oscar Pistorius
I have not watched the court proceedings as I don't have a tv, but my view is that OP and Reeva fought. I believe Reeva, sensible person that she was, realized that the gun toting OP with a massive xhip on his shoulder, was not the right person for her, and was in the process of breaking the news to him just before she was murdered We know that he had introduced Reeva to company as his fiancé. Perhaps he was not able to deal with the rejection and if he couldn't have her, no one else could. I believe he hit her in the bedroom, as evidenced by the blood droplets next to the bed. Reeva then ran to the bathroom and locked herself in it, wanting to phone for help. Oscar knowingly shot her through the bathroom door. The damage perhaps covering up the initial assault. I truly believe OP will get his just desserts through the courts. I Know the judge will Not be impressed with OP.... Also in SA we do not have the same protection afforded to so called celebs, except if you are a politician or powerful establishment figure of course, then you Can get away with murder. Its against SA law to shoot as Oscar did, even in the unlikely event the courts believe he did not know that it was Reeva behind the door. He will get time, believe me, no matter what. All imo of course.

Image of OP re-enactment of how he moved towards bathroom gun in hand is on this link.
Thank you for taking time to answer my earlier questions, aiyoyo.
IMO the re-enactment should not have been made available to any agency outside of the court at this point in time as the sight of his mutilated legs inevitably provokes sympathy for Pistorius.

I'd thought the re-enactment outside court domain might sub-judice the trial, but according to SA's law expert, that won't be an issue.

Contrary to what you said ie that the video might gain him public sympathy, it is believed the re-enactment showing him with fairly good mobility and could even walk backward on this stumps is detrimental to his defence's claim he had no mobility on his stumps. That's why Defence did not introduce this evidence in court, else you can imagine the prosecutor will jump at the chance.

If anyone who likely had any involvement in Madeleine's 'disappearance' is ever called to account, I would love Geri Nel to offer his services to the Portuguese state prosecution service.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
I watched almost all of the trial on Sky, as I am stuck here at home. Both Gerrie Nel and Barry Roux were impressive as advocates, though Roux voice did get a bit tiring, as he sounded so whining. My other half said that is just because his South African accent is stronger, but I disagree. The judge was utterly inscrutable. She sat there taking it all in, and only very rarely asked for clarification of the speakers meaning, or objected to one of the statements made.
'Fruitless speculation' and 'Wait till Sept 11th' is what my spouse would say if I try and guess the outcome. I know what I would go for if there was a jury, and I was a member of it, but S Africa has one judge and two assistant assessors and no jury.
I think he may well not be found guilty of murder, but as there is some very slight doubt as to his state of mind when he fired the shots, he may get 'culpable homicide' or 'manslaughter' as we would have it in the UK. What I think about that doesn't bear typing in...

I can't wait for 9/11 to roll on for the verdict.
Summers & Swam's book is out on 9/11.
If libel trial resumes on 9/11 too I will freak out.

Hi parapono, good to see you here.
Don't freak out or don't let libel trial resume date be 9/11?

Can you believe this guy!!! - this guy certainly gets about. I guess our old friend MWT has been hired by Team Oscar. Never liked this guy, a truly slippery character & don't understand why he is on this particular case, aint there enough child abuse cases over here at the moment???? IMO - he doesn't believe a word of what he's said in this interview....Team Oscar must be desperate!

@Mouse
MWT is a creepy guy. Poked his nose into every high profile case in the news just to draw attention to himself.
He's a saleman selling himself as a product.
I put him in the same category as Max Clifford and Clarence Mitchell ie enablers abetting lies.
PeterMas has an input on him in the other thread.
Anyway, back on topic.
Verdict due today on OP may take up to 48 hours to deliver.

This verdict is an excruciating one to wait for.
It should be proclaimed concisely and be over in 3-1/2 seconds - Guilty or Not Guilty.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
The judge in the Oscar Pistorius trial has said the accused athlete's account of the shooting is inconsistent with someone who shot without thinking.
Mr Pistorius has said that he did not intend to kill anyone, but Judge Thokozile Masipa said the height of the bullets suggested otherwise.
Earlier she questioned the reliability of several witnesses in court, while delivering her verdict on the athlete.
Correspondents say this could cast doubt on a key prosecution argument.
The South African Olympic sprinter denies murdering Ms Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year, saying he thought there was an intruder.
The judge could also find him guilty of culpable homicide, or manslaughter, for which he would face a long jail term.
Mr Pistorius, 27, has pleaded not guilty to all the charges he faces, including two counts of shooting a firearm in public and the illegal possession of ammunition.

Premeditated murder ruled out.
So says the judge.

Having followed the case closely I've the gut feelings the Judge is inclined to the Prosecution case.
If not premeditated, he will get manslaughter.
15 years with parole I think.

Only Defence side expert witnesses are paid to do their jobs.
If they fit their findings/reports to suit their paying client, which no one is in any doubt that is exactly what happened, then yes, Money is amazing.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Judge Thokozile Masipa said the prosecution had failed to prove the Olympic athlete killed his girlfriend deliberately in the toilet after a row, prompting tears from Mr Pistorius.
He cannot have foreseen killing whoever was behind the toilet door, she said.
Mad.
So when you shoot bullets through a door you know someone is behind, you don't think anyone will get killed.
Because not every understands that guns when fired can kill?
Jeeze.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
The judge ruling will be given tomorrow. I think there are separate firearms charges also to be ruled upon. Perhaps today's early recess is to deliver the whole judgment tomorrow (I'm speculating obviously).
From what I've read there will be a break before sentencing. I can't see OP being placed in a South African jail and will receive a softer option of some sort of correctional punishment/sport input etc.
The problem with sticking him in jail is that his family have clout and they will sing to the world's media about the shocking state of SA prisons - that's not good for the ANC's rainbow nation, everything's good image.
It's also worth remembering there is the right to appeal. It ain't over yet.
There is also the forthcoming Dewani trial which will have world press attention.

Yesterday - the Judge according to the BBC:
On what grounds?
In her opinion they were mistaken?
This is FOUR witnesses.
Why is this down to a judge and not a jury?
"She also dismissed witnesses who said they had heard Ms Steenkamp scream before the shots were fired, or before the final shot."

Guilty of Culpable Homicide.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The judge believed Pistorius.
Getting off lightly.
I think his lawyers will be delighted, that was the absolute best they were going to get.
The judge will take into account he genuinely thought it was an intruder.
This all smells.

Re: Oscar Pistorius
Hello BlueBag. We don't have a jury system in South Africa.
As for the 4 dismissed witnesses evidence...all that can be said there, and I am sure you will get my drift - when I say that it must be borne in mind, that S Africa has become a corrupt, bribery ridden, murderous country, with little true justice to speak of.
