Olive Press boasting
Not to mention getting in the way of the firefighters and police trying to evacuate people and maintain some sort of order.
The STORY is a journalist at a press conference, with LOADS of other journalists. Not the ONLY- nor the FIRST- nor the
How is that even interesting?
And the photo of the fire is not even OP.
GETTING close to the flames and talking to victims and firefighters.
While other expat newspapers watched it from afar, translating stories from Spanish websites, the Olive Press was in the thick of it.
Yet again, we were on the ground reporting on the horrendous fire that left 3,000 people evacuated from their homes last week.
Our team of George Mathias, Jorge Hinojosa and Kimberley Mannion tracked down the best human interest stories over three days.

Setting up a base in Benahavis, it is exactly the sort of good old-fashioned gumshoe journalism that the Olive Press is proud of.
And not only do our website subscribers appreciate it, with a dozen stories in total, so do the UK nationals, who used our words and pictures.
They included, as normal, the Daily Mail as well as the Mirror this time.
And our job didn’t just end when the fire got under control.
Right up until late last night we were checking and updating our front page to ensure we had the latest news on the suspicious fire.
Second Sierra Bermeja fire. Photo: Cordon Press.
It was the same with the huge Fifth Generation fire in the nearby Sierra Bermeja last year.
We had feet on the ground within hours and followed it through for almost two weeks.
As well as getting right up into the hills, we were the first media group to report that it was started by a balding man at two sides of the peak around 9.30pm at night.
That’s why WE pay journalists and why YOU pay to subscribe for what we do.
At just ONE EURO for an initial month’s trial, what are you waiting for?

"As well as getting right up into the hills, we were the first media group to report that it was started by a balding man at two sides of the peak around 9.30pm at night."
You may have "reported it". but was it TRUE ? Was there any evidence for it?
You also reported that Jude Law and Nicole Kidman were having an affair, and that Robert Murat was responsible for kidnapping Madeleine McCann
Both were untrue.
You reported that Madeleine might have been hidden in a Secret Compound, and that her DNA might have been found on a pair of scissors in a car first aid kit.
She wasn't and it wasn't.
You reported that a fighting bull at a corrida weighed 5 tonnes, and that a 25 cubic metre rock also weighed 5 tonnes.
Both are patently ridiculous, and wrong by a factor of ± 10
You reported that you were the first journalist on the scene at PdL, that you went into Apartment 5A and spoke to the McCanns in the apartment, alternatively that you arrived at 1:30 in the morning, that you received the phone call on Thursday 3rd May . . .
Difficult to know where to start with that litany of untruths
You reported that Brückner had had facio-maxilliary surgery on his jaw, and that fibres had been found in his campervan.
He hadn't and they weren't.
The fact that you "report' it does not make it so.
Indeed quite often we may infer the very opposite.

Re: Olive Press boasting
PeterMac on point as usual.
True cause:
Initial investigations by the Junta de Andalucía’s Forest Fire Investigation Brigade (BIIF) and the Guardia Civil’s Seprona nature protection service indicate that the blaze was started accidentally during maintenance tasks at the La Resinera 6,500-hectare private estate. Guardia Civil officers have arrested and taken statements from three employees of the finca. The fire has already destroyed more than 3,500 hectares of the Sierra Bermeja.
Now there will be a judicial inquiry to see if there was negligence, in view of the weather conditions in the area on 8 June, with gusts of wind exceeding 40 kilometres per hour and temperatures of up to 37 degrees.
Sources indicate that work was being carried out on a road with a machine that, by moving the rocks, could have caused a spark to fly that started the fire.

Re: Olive Press boasting
Ah, but those are only the FACTS.!
The story – which the Mail and the Mirror will PAY FOR – is a balding man on two sides of a mountain, probably foreign, mumbling in a strange language, smelling of garlic, with a limp, and a glass eye, swarthy complexion, and dressed in scruffy clothing. If you can make him an escapee from a local institution that might be worth another £1,000
and having an affair with a film star buys you a new house.
A photo lifted from maps.google and rebadged as " Olive Press" might be worth a lot more.
I am glad to say I have no idea how many pieces of silver you get paid for rubbish like this.

But no Suspect, balding or otherwise was ever caught.
Meanwhile, the police investigation continues as officers from the Seprona nature protection branch of the Guardia Civil work to find the person, or persons, who started the fire that has always been considered deliberate.

Re: Olive Press boasting
A child goes missing under suspicious circumstances - who claims to have been first on the scene?
A first starts under suspicious circumstances - who claims to have been first on the scene?
Some journo's will do anything for a story. I see a pattern forming here. If anyone actually believed this codswallop from the OP there could come a time when questions are asked about their motives. Maybe this bunch should be questioned.

IT's BEEN WHOOSHED ! ! ! a.a 28/6/22
Not answered, not explained, not retracted or corrected.
WHOOSHED !
Not answered, not explained, not retracted or corrected.
WHOOSHED !
Re: Olive Press boasting
And the lack of explanation, retraction or correction may lead us to believe that it is in fact correct.
The phone call WAS at about 8pm
He did drive overnight to PdL and did arrive about 1:30am
and in that case – – –
HE WAS THE FIRST JOURNALIST AT THE SCENE,
And we therefore have to humbly apologise for having doubted him on that.
But that in turn opens several containers of worms, all of which need explanations.
The fact of his having simply "whooshed the post" does not stop the questions
It only increases their importance and their urgency.

Jon Clarke was the first journalist to arrive in Praia de Luz, just hours after Madeleine disappeared. He has investigated Brueckner, speaking to those who have known him over the years.
Jon, who lives in Malaga, Spain, says, “I think they’ve got the right man. He fits the profile perfectly, he was in the same place at the same time as Madeleine, and there’s no denying that analysis of his phone records place him near the Ocean Club resort around the time of her going missing.

He was in the same place at the same time as Madeleine . . .
As were
The Parents,
The Tapas 7
The entire holiday making public
The entire Mark Warner staff
The entire residential population of PdL
there's no denying that analysis of his phone records place him near the Ocean Club resort around the time of her going missing.
As do the phone records of
The Parents,
The Tapas 7
The entire holiday making public
The entire Mark Warner staff
The entire residential population of PdL
so it MUST be him.
Because he is foreign and speaks German (which I don't) and used to have long hair (which I also did)
and tells lies (which I . . .) and ...

Re: Olive Press boasting
When a journalist lies about his part in reporting the disappearance of a three year old, writes and promotes a book for personal financial gain then hounds someone who methodically, diligently and scrupulously proves the lies there has to be a tear in the human heart.
